After years of using inexpensive lighting setups in my gorgeous landscaped yards and planters, and constantly dealing with rust, broken stems, bulbs that burned out too fast, and other issues related to 'cheap' systems (insert Amazon), I decided to go with a professional lighting system. I made a few calls, and settled on Matt and his company. At first, pricing for this sort of system surprised me, but once I saw how much work is involved, the artistry of deciding which type of light to place where (even sinking one light into my yard for maximum WOW factor lighting up my Cypress trees), the attention to detail and complexity of running (and completely hiding) all wiring, I was thrilled to pay the price. This has TRANSFORMED my home from 'meh' to 'wowie zowie'! My exterior just pops the second the AUTOMATED SYSTEM automatically lights up as soon as the sun begins to set. And of course, I can easily control them from my phone! It's been two years since install, and I love it everyday. Then, I experienced an electrical issue NOT related to the lighting system, but that affected it. SO ANYONE CONSIDERING DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO TAKE NOTE!! The owner of this company, Matthew scheduled an appointment w/me, then texted me back and told me he could not come because he didn't like the prior Landscape light company (LUMIERE LIGHTING) that I previously had do some work for me; even tho that job was completely non-related to this particular job request. when I called Matthew to inquire "why" he would not service me, he disclosed that he didn't like Javier (FROM LUMIERE LIGHTING), and said that he did substandard work? This is very odd considering the job I'm looking for has nothing to do with what I did prior and I explicitly told him that. Secondly, the job I did do with LUMIERE was excellent, and I have not had a problem in the 3 years since installation. When I pressed him why he was acting this way, he just seemed to be very negative & presumptive for really no reason? I felt discriminated against, for reasons I'm not really sure?...Left a real bad taste in my mouth! When I asked why he was discriminatory, he then said he would come and do the work but that it would take him 2 months to start. I felt like this was just an "escape path" to avoid the job? Very strange. It's also very unprofessional to knock another company and speak negatively about them. I thought that LUMIERE was very good, and Javier could'nt be nicer and more affordable. I have a small yard in RSM and we had recently had the front yard landscaped. We had some path lights and a couple of floods with some lantern style lights on posts installed that were all white lights. I am the kind guy who enjoys adding color and seasonal color so I contacted OC Night Lights and Matt contacted me the next day and he agreed to come by for an estimate. I told him what I envisioned, changing out the white lights for color and adding 6 more lights to the mix. Matt gave me his suggestions for the kind of lights and fixtures and we agreed on the price. Matt and his assistant were out on an agreed upon date and had everything installed in a few hours. We ran into a problem with 3 of the lights not connecting to the blue tooth app. So Matt told be he wanted to switch these out for Wifi connected lights as something in that part of the yard was causing some interference that we couldn't over come. Then his supplier was out for 2 weeks so there was delay but Matt kept me up to date about what was happening. He came by with the replacements and turned out he was sent the same Bluetooth connected lights. So he chose a different supplier and week or later he came back to swap them out. It turned out the Wifi lights were too big for my path light holders and I did not want to incur even more expense to replace those so I just told him that for the lights where Bluetooth was working leave them in and just replace the ones we are having problems with. He put them in and they connected worked immediately. Even though I have to use two apps to control them I find the beauty of these things worth the extra trouble. I am attaching some pictures that show off how I got a fall pattern with red, orange and yellows. I appreciate that Matt never gave up trying to get this fixed am entirely happy with his work. My backyard had landscape lighting from the previous owners that are probably 12 years old or so. Only about 30% of them worked anymore. Some were literally rotting, others wouldn't work no matter what I'd do, and even the transformer was rotting. Instead of just fixing stuff I figured replacing it all was a good way to go. Finding a lighting place was harder than I thought. Most were gardeners or hardscape people who also did lights. Of those most had bad reviews. OC Night Lights only does low voltage lighting and the reviews were great. I contacted a few of the reviewers to see if they were still happy with the job and they all were. My wife called and spoke to the owner Matt. He either came out the same day or the next day, can't recall which but it was fast. My wife and I both clicked with his personality instantly. He wasn't pushy and had great suggestions about the new set-up I would have never thought of. When we didn't like something, such as a fixture type, he was great at offering other choices. In our backyard we had 2 lanterns, 8 planter lights, a fountain light, and the rotting transformer. Old lights were halogen. He replaced the transformer with a commercial grade stainless steel one and was able to mount it underneath my bar hidden from sight. The old one was right next to a sprinkler. We then had two custom made Craftsman style brass lanterns, 12 brass planter lights, a waterproof fountain LED light, and an LED rope under our bar which Matt suggested. All lights are LED instead of halogen. Matt, Eric, and Jorge removed the old and installed the new around mature trees, rose bushes, and variety of other plants. I have no clue how they got around all this but they're like ninjas. You can't even tell they were here. No damage to my plants or anything. The front yard just had a porch light and a sensor light on the garage. We had 4 path lights installed from the driveway to the front door with the transformer installed next to my sprinkler controls in the garage. Both front and back lights I can control via an app on my phone or using Alexa voice control. Since the transformers he uses is commercial grade they're easily expandable if we ever feel like adding more lighting in the future which we might do to the front yard. As other mention this company is on the top of the price range but I felt the customer service and quality were worth it. Every step of the way from start to finish was a great experience and I'd recommend this company to anybody wanting to add light to their property! read more

I just hired Matt Magga the owner of Orange County Night Lights to purchase and install several hardwired Ring Security Cameras with Spotlights along and the Ring Security Camera digital doorbell and Ring Chime. doorbell. Matt has always delivered in the past when we had him install our outdoor landscape lighting and I knew he would again. He and his helper are friendly, knowledgeable and gave great recommendations on the strategic placement and installation of the cameras. He hardwired the security system and the ring doorbell/security camera. The installation is flawless and up to code. He was even able to recess the doorbell chime within the hallway wall so that it is hidden beneath a speaker cover. Matt connected everything to our Wi-Fi, set up the software on my phone and trained me on how to use it. I am very pleased with the quality of their work and their attention to detail. Matt did some work on my house that wasn't typical of his other jobs. I had gotten my house repiped and the plumbers cut a low voltage control wire running through the ceiling to my AC compressor. The repipe company owner knew Matt and trusted his work so he had Matt come out to fix the issue. It ended up being more complicated than just rewiring the cut wires in the two spots because the previous electrician had mis-wired the strands elsewhere in the house. Matt climbed through the attic and took conduit off the outside of the house until he found the problem splice. I appreciated Matt's commitment to doing the job, even fixing something that wasn't an immediate issue, and sticking with a job that turned out to be more complicated than originally thought. I also talked exterior lighting with him afterwards and he had some nice suggestions for a design that seemed reasonably priced. read more

If you're a dumbass, like myself, and only know you want some nice lighting, Matt will break it down "barney style" so you have a clear understanding on the options for your budget. I had no idea just how deep the low voltage lighting hole goes. Who knew you could put "Moon lighting" in your tree! Importantly, when you call with questions, Matt picks up the phone and answers them. They were quick and most of all....clean! I first called on Orange County Night lights about 3 years ago when my existing halogen landscape lighting was rapidly failing and I was looking for options to replace it. Matt came to the house and did a thorough assessment of my lighting needs and produced a multi tiered solution based on cost. I immediately liked his low pressure approach that did not try to sell me more than I felt I needed at that time. I engaged him to do the work and was especially impressed by the quality of the fixtures and wire conduit he used. He completed the front and back yard LED lighting and removed my existing worn out halogen system for a fraction of the energy usage of my old system. I asked him to provide adequate amperage transformers to allow for later expansion of the system as needed. My front and especially back yards came to life and we're transformed to a resort like environment. I have received many many complements from family and friends that come to visit. Since the initial project I have invited Matt back to add several specialty lighting areas around a BBQ, shower, telecommunications area etc. His work is detail oriented and functionally excellent. On a rare occasion he came out and replaced a few flickering path lights free of charge. That type of attention to detail in customer care is not that common today and is as such not soon forgotten.
