They are very nice when you go in. The doctor was amazing. However, I wasn't happy with the sticker price and yes I should have said something right then and there but I froze and handed over my credit card puzzled how I walked out paying $211 when last year at another optometrist was just a $10 copay. I called 20 minutes after leaving to ask if I can cancel my glasses order but she said they have a no refund policy for people using insurance. Come on! The glasses have not been made, like just give me my money back so I can get them somewhere else. She also didn't need to raise her voice and get defensive. There was one older lady behind the counter that seemed like she didn't care to help me, but the rest of the staff was very helpful which made up for the apathy I received from older lady. So the other day my mom said "i went to this place and they use a machine and take a picture of my eye and I gotta go back but you gotta come with me" ooookay... So I entered this place that looked like a cross between an optometrist and a camera store. They explained this procedure which certainly sounded intriguing-but tbh I didn't imagine it would be that awesome AND easy! This machine scanned my eyes in some odd matrix-like device and then the doc-Dr Taranto-showed me my pix and described the various marks and lines from the pictures. I'm not usually the type to write a review, but I could not help myself considering the circumstances. Dr. Taranto saved my vision. I had bacteria pink eye (or so urgent care told me repeatedly). Despite the drops urgent care prescribed my eyes were getting worse and worse by the day - so bad I could not see. I called Dr. Taranto's office and they were able to see me within 24 hours and other places told me months, EVEN when I told them it was a medical emergency. I was beginning to lose vision in both my eyes. It turns out after seeing Dr. Taranto, who is personable, nice, and incredibly intelligent, that I had viral pink eye. He prescribed me the right eye drops immediately, and cleared his schedule to see me the following days. Needless to say my vision is restored and the pink eye is gone. So, vision care is something new to me. I have never had the need for glasses before and didn't quite know what to expect. I came in to see about constant headaches I would get after using a computer for an extended period of time, and figured it might have something to do with my eyesight. This was such a great experience. From the lobby to the patient rooms, everything here was wonderful. Dr. Jeff knows his stuff! He explains everything as he's doing them, and does an inrcredible job of making his patients feel comfort and informed. Turns out, I could really use some low level reading glasses with a blue blocker. The prices are also really reasonable, especially for someone without vision insurance ( never thought I needed it ). UPDATE: I never liked going to the eye doctor because I hate that air puff they use, and I also never liked having dilating drops. I have always worn glasses and contacts my whole life because it has been hard to see far away. I'm 22 so I figured that I'm too young for Laser eye surgery, so I went back to Dr. Taranto because I found out that he specializes in Orthokeratology (Ortho-k). Ortho-k is where you sleep in a special contact lens at night and when you wake up in the morning you do not need glasses or contacts to see throughout the day. At first, I was skeptical but after having my examination at Opulent Eyes Dr. Taranto told me that I was a good candidate because I did not have that much Astigmatism. Diana explained everything to me and when the lenses came in (4 days later) I came back so they could teach me how to take them out and put them in. The next day I woke up and I couldn't believe how good my vision was! I sleep in the lenses every night and now I do not need to buy any glasses or soft contacts for years to come! If you are sick and tired of paying for glasses or contacts, then I highly recommend going to see Dr. Taranto for this amazing painless procedure. read more

This the most unprofessional and rude man I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He interrupted my eye exam to have a distasteful discussion in the doorway of the exam room. Then he was stomping around the office yelling at the staff and other doctor. It didn't seem to matter to him that there were other patients in the office, patients that could have been his. Later when I objected to his rude behavior, he yelled at me to get the f*** out. I don't care how good of an optometrist he is, if he cannot display a professional and courteous attitude to everyone in the office, and at least to pretend to have some concern for others, he doesn't deserve anyone's business. I've been going here since 2015 when I realized my vision was starting to degrade about 8 years after having laser surgery. First got glasses and then this year I thought it was time to start using contacts again. Dr. Taranto was really helpful both times. He is thorough, specially when I decided to start using contacts. He wanted to make sure I knew my options and what brand I should look into. Dr. Taranto and the staff here are great and extremely helpful. So I woke up one morning and I could barely open my eye and after I showered I walked outside and even with the sunglasses I was wearing the light was in unbearable. I googled eye doctors near Sherman Oaks and Studio City and i chose Dr Taranto because his bio said he did an extra year at a hospital. I was in a panic but he quickly put me at ease by informing me that "I was in good hands". He was very relaxed and polite and he told me I do not have an infection but some type of inflammation so he prescribed me an eye drop and within three days my eye was perfectly back to normal. I also purchased a pair of the brand new Celine Sunglasses to wear because he told me that the sun can cause cataracts and other problems. I saw him back in a week and he said I made a full recovery. Since I am not in my home town I started calling all sorts of Optometrist locations for assistance and I was turned down because I am not an established patient and a lot of locations are closed for NYE! I ended up finding Idol Eyes on yelp and let me say that from the call for an appointment, to my experience at the shop the staff was the nicest, sweetest and most professional staff I have dealt with!!!!!!! Dr. Tarranto, Christian and Nancy were able to accomodate my schedule, they came in to work extra early for a NEW PATIENT! That in it self shows a lot of commitment to their patients. Dr. Tarranto updated my prescription and was very thorough with my exam. Many kudos to Nancy and Christian for their patience. Okay, I broke my glasses, and I'm starting a new job tomorrow! As it happens, I did order new glasses last week, but they're not ready yet. I can't start a new job with taped up glasses! I went to the store where I had ordered my new glasses to see if they could help with a temp repair, but they couldn't. They referred me to nearby Opulent Eyes. Victor was such a star! Highly, highly recommend!! Took my son there a few months ago, who was suffering from over-blinking - I thought something major was up - Dr Taranto did the necessary exams and quickly diagnosed it as nothing more than 'dry-eye' and prescribed the correct drops (suitable for kids) - no more issues. Then, I was under-prescribed by another optometrist - Dr Taranto did an eye exam and rectified my prescription - now I see perfectly. He also recommended a change in the brand of contacts I use and I'm loving the new lenses - seeing better then ever. He's a lovely guy, and knows his stuff. I came here to get my first eye exam ever, and from start to finish everyone there was great, both Nancy and Christian were super attentive and amazing, from fully understanding the paperwork given to me to even helping me out on picking my frames, I loved the sincerity and honesty they gave me on choosing my frames, they gave me such great confidence that my frames are the ones for me ! I have gone to my regular optometrist in Beverly Hills for years, until I heard about this gem of an office right on the other side of the hill, in Studio City. Decided to give Idol Eyes a shot since some fashion obsessed friends, who always wear the coolest frames, get theirs here. As do a bunch of celebrities. And now I know why.... Anyway, Idol Eyes is located right near the Laurel Canyon intersection of Ventura, so I just walked over for my appointment after doing some shopping, but parking is easy-peasy here, across the street by BoA (validated too!), or by CVS, or anywhere. I needed new prescription sunglasses and they had an amazing selection of brand new Chanels and Celines (actually much more than my previous, super fancy, optometrist in B.H.), and then some cool brands from Japan and Italy, such as Etnia Barcelona, that I had never seen before, anywhere else, ever. So, getting my eyes tested by the super nice optometrist Dr. Taranto was actually quicker than selecting frames because I couldn't make up my mind and ended up ordering three different ones... Oh well, at least I will be the hippest kid in town with my new shades! It's really good to know I don't have to fly to Europe just to find cutting edge frames - they are available right here at Idol Eyes Optometry in Studio City. Who would have thunk?! :) read more

This place feels like a scam. The doctor and receptionist up sold numerous products and procedures when I went in for a basic annual exam. Not to discredit the doctor as he gave a solid exam, but this office is more interested in making money. I also asked for my prescription numerous times and have yet to receive any documents more than a month after my visit. If you're looking into Dr. Taranto at Idol Eyes for your contact prescription, it's probably because it's that time of year again - something I dread. I've had contacts for 10 years and each year I'm always worried of pricing and unnecessary portions of the eye exams. My insurance (when I had it) never covered my eyes so I'm always paying out of pocket. I usually have to set-up an appointment with an unhappy receptionist at a time that never seems convenient. NOT THE CASE AT Dr. Taranto's Idol Eyes. I was able to set-up an appointment with their office via Zoc Doc and I parked for free (2 hours) on the Laurelgrove St. and walked to the office (1 minute walk - I'm sure there's other parking, but I visited the office two or three times and it was super convenient for me to park here.) Right off the bat, the design and look of their office is chic and slick. His receptionist was very nice and was quick to greet me. The first thing I asked about was a pricing break down - she was honest - straightforward - yet understanding to my situation. (Typically I'm met with a certain kind of eye-roll when I ask for prices anywhere in this town lol - BUT NOT HERE!) Then out came the Doc, Dr. Taranto. It seemed like I went to college with this guy. He was fun, informative, and incredibly inviting. Long story short, he listened to me, actually listened to me, and to my current concerns with my prescription. He continued this service throughout my entire fitting process. (I went back two more times until we agreed on the best prescription/fitting.) Never once did I feel rushed or as if "i didn't know what I was talking about." He even explained to me exactly what my last doctor had done and the probable reasons why (information I never knew lol - usually I just take the prescription and leave - unhappy with the results.) I highly recommend this office. I left with new glasses and both prescriptions for a very affordable rate. It didn't feel cheap, but neither was the service. My suggestion is to be a courteous customer to his staff and honest with Dr. Taranto - because it's clear he'll be straight with you. read more
