The spacious conference room and the meticulous kept bathrooms created an impression on me too. My mother is going into her 6th year at Friendship Village Tempe Health Center. While her dementia…read morehas been slowly taking effect on her, the care the CNAs and nurses have risen to the occasion. They are all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and kind. My mother is extremely well taken care of there. The facility is clean, pleasant, well-maintained and has a very nice garden downstairs, with plants and a waterfall. The food is above average, and dieticians work to ensure each resident is tended to as needed. My two complaints are cost and number of employees (esp. regarding equipment). My mother has to be lifted into/out of bed and her wheelchair. It seems that there are only one or two of these lifts per floor. When she needs to go the bathroom, she sometimes has to wait 10 minutes, which is uncomfortable and, truly, degrading. For what they charge per month - which is a lot - they should have another lift. Also, the CNAs are overworked. They need at least one more per wing. The other complaint is cost. If my mother weren't using her life savings, we couldn't afford it; however, as long as she has the money, we will keep her there. I looked at several places. While FVT was a bit more expensive than many, the reviews are very, very good, and I wouldn't risk moving her to a cheaper facility. How they treat the patients when family isn't there is crucial. FVT employees take exceptional care of her. Highly recommended, if you can afford almost $9000 per month for a private room (not much less for a shared one...).

My mother-in-law has been at Solterra for almost 3 years in Assisted Living. My criteria for…read morechoosing Solterra included mingling of Independent and Assisted residents, a dining room open all day, and a homey feel. I was disappointed when the director was let go about a year ago, but the facility remains well run and the staff is attentive. A major remodel is under way, and I appreciate the investment. Rooms are very generous--and I saw *many* places just as expensive with teeny rooms. Recently my grown children moved their dad into the memory care unit, and they are extremely happy with the care and attentiveness he receives. Another very picky friend of mine has her mother-in-law in the memory care unit also. Since it's hard to see a family member become elderly and frail, this is such an important decision. I do recommend Solterra.

I didn't even get into the building before I was threatened of trespassing, literally from the parking lot to the front door I couldn't get a single word out before I was swiftly asked to leave. Zero chance I would allow my family to even consider living in a place like this. Not to mention the landscape is extremely unkept and neglected, among other things that are neglected as well.

My husband and I have found Lisa and her staff to be caring, responsive, and very reasonably priced. My father-in-law is diabetic, and they have helped keep his blood sugar in check. In addition to day-to-day care, they provide transportation to his appointments at the Veterans' Hospital. They let us know when he needs important supplies. And they serve as our "eyes and ears" since we live so far from him and aren't able to visit frequently. If you need someone to take care of your loved one, I highly recommend you reach out to BrightStar Care of Phoenix!

They did not provide regular detailed invoices yet charged my mother's credit card continually. After a month an a half and after I discontinued their service, I questioned the billing and had to insist on a full accounting. It took a while to get this, but it turns out, she was over charged over $800. My mother was finally refunded this amount but I was never given an explanation nor an apology, so I have to conclude it was due to incompetency, lack of oversight, and/or possibly fraud.
