Moved in here, a retirement community called Mirabella@ASU, because this 20-story building is located on the campus of Arizona State University. It was the second day it opened...a little over three years ago. From my apartment on the 10th floor I look east across the beautiful campus and see the McDowell Mountains and the rising sun each morning, as well as students scurrying, riding skateboards, and hurrying to class. Residents are also able to take classes tuition free and participate in many campus activities. It's an easy walk to the football and basketball facilities, and my favorite, baseball, is just four miles away. The Gammage Performance Center is an easy walk, as well as the many shops downtown. For transportation we have light rail that goes all over the Valley, just a short ride to see the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phoenix Suns, or the Phoenix Symphony! Similar facilities are remotely located...go out the gate and see desert or a residential neighborhood. We have shops, groceries, a drug store, entertainment, and a movie theater! My one-bedroom apartment is spacious and comfortable with maintenance and cleaning included. Our computer/TV guy Trevor is one of the top five reasons to live here...get a new printer...he will make it work in no time!! Our maintenance people are prompt and pleasant for issues with appliances or repair of anything that comes up or to assist in special projects. We also have three restaurants serving a variety of new items as well as old favorites. Many ASU students work in the restaurants and our underground parking garage. None of us get into a hot car because it's all underground! Valets provide airport service and also drive those without with a car for appointments within a reasonable distance! Residents are also kept busy going all over the Valley in 15-passenger buses to varied locations. Many events and speakers are offered; it's sometimes impossible to do it all. One floor is designated as Assisted Living and another for Memory Care. So if you are thinking about moving from the big house that's heavy maintenance, don't wait until you have a fall or accident. Come here, meet new people, and join in the activities. If you have grown children, it's a great gift for us to all downsize and know there are people nearby to help as we grow older and less able to handle the burden of home ownership or living alone. While attending a presentation here Feb 15 and 16th I explored Mirabella at ASU and the surrounding area. Upon entering the lifelong learning auditorium I liked the inviting lobby. The spacious conference room and the meticulous kept bathrooms created an impression on me too. The residences of this retirement community are encouraged to attend the free monthly events held in the life long learning room. Continued growth and learning are supported with presenting occupants with ASU student cards- which gives access to privileged facilities and resources, access to all university libraries, free access to most sporting events and performances and lectures. A array of healthcare services ranging from memory care, assisted living to rehabilitation. Culinary choices include a bistro, a cocktail lounge and fine dining options. Other offered services include laundry, housekeeping and transportation. For those seeking an active and social community in their golden years, this may be an option worth looking into. read more

Poorly designed building. They don't care about the property. My poor grandmother was treated like she was dirt. She loved Shady Park and dancing across the street, but unfortunately it was closed. They laughed in her face when she expressed how sad she was about the closure. Do not live here if you care about having a good quality of life! read more

We moved here from Seattle and chose Mirabella at ASU because of its connections with ASU -- we can take classes if we want, we have musicians perform here 3 times a week, professors speak here once a week, and the campus is a beautiful place to walk. We're also on Mill Ave for food and entertainment. Tempe town lake is 3/4 of a mile away. We're next door to Gammage Auditorium (where Broadway shows play). Our apartments are beautiful. The food is the best of any retirement community in the state (no exaggeration). Come try it. We've got all kinds of clubs and activities including a woodshop, art room, and individual garden beds. We've made so many new friends from all over the country. read more

Mirabella lost my grandmother. Still trying to find her. Nice place though, good location.

Do not move here. The service during the day in the valet department takes forever at least a half an hour to get your vehicle off of double parked lifts. I don't know why they have these.The only person with hospitality in the while department is the young man that works at night named Tony. The food is boring the menu never changes. The servers are great but the service not so much. My car seems to be damaged every month and in the repair shop with no communication. Great views and close to ASU but is very loud on weekends with concerts and DJs right across the street. read more

I must say...... it is quite entertaining to read reviews from Yelpers who probably have never even stepped foot inside this beautiful community - As someone who worked at Yelp for four years, I can tell you this: Yelp is for CUSTOMERS of businesses, not petty bystanders who are intimidated by gentrification. Now to the review based on actual interactions WITH the business: Mirabella is truly in a league of it's own. The beautiful facade is just tip of it -- the bistro is absolutely phenomenal Chef Segerstrom curates different culinary masterpieces daily. Activities are constantly keeping residents and guests engaged. The staff knows every resident by name and addresses them as such -- you won't even find that in a luxury hotel (even though you will feel like you're in one). What I find most unique about this community is that you can take it for a "test drive" by staying overnight in one of their lavish guest suites. You get the full experience! While these negative reviews serve absolutely no function other than perpetuating petty attitudes, one thing is for certain -- I'll know I made it in life when I find myself living at Mirabella! read more

When looking for a community to "age in place", nothing beats Mirabella at ASU. Being part of the ASU campus means lots of cultural activities likes plays, concerts, lectures and sporting events right outside your door. But Mirabella itself is like living on a cruise ship (without the water) as there is great food, fun entertainment, and lots of friendly people you see daily...so you never feel lonely. While I'm in a beautiful, spacious independent living apartment right now, they also have assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care all in this same building. So even if things change, I never have to leave. Mirabella is my FOREVER home and I couldn't be happier! read more

My mother was in need of skilled nursing quickly and luckily she was placed at Mirabella. I have heard horror stories of facilities not getting patients out of bed. Mirabella has a fantastic physical and occupational therapy team that make sure the appropriate therapy is given! The staff are very nice. The facility is clean and the property gives off a luxury hotel vibe. I knocked off one star only because some of the controls for the room are not easily accessible or easy to use for the patients in skilled care (lighting, TV needs 2 controls, shades). We are very fortunate to have my mother there! read more

I have lived at Mirabella for 2 and a 1/2 years now. Moving here was the best decision I have made in a long time. I have many new friends, new interests and lots of activities. My apartment is in the SE corner. I have a Birds Eye view of the new ASU parking deck. It is fun to watch the construction and amazing to watch all that goes into building a structure. The food has continued to impress. It is nice to have a choice between 3 restaurants. I usually choose my restaurant by the menu for that day. Another of my favorite activities are the weekly lectures from ASU faculty. I have learned a lot, without taking a class. I am looking forward to taking more tours of interesting places in the area. I could go on, but if you are thinking of retiring soon, come take a look, ask questions, and decide for yourself. read more

As someone who recently moved into Mirabella, I was totally shocked to see the poor reviews, as this place is AMAZING! Beautiful architecture, diverse floorplans, comfortable public spaces to accommodate numerous daily activities, a wonderfully equipped gym with a full-time instructor as well as visiting Yoga and Tai Chi instructors. Mirabella also has amazing FOOD in its three different in-house restaurants. Menus change daily to feature our chefs creativity and highlight seasonal fare. Plus we have 3 talented pastry chefs which are responsible for me putting on 10 extra pounds since moving in. I thought I would miss my large house on the golf course in Trilogy (Peoria), but I have never looked back. It is so easy to make new friends here... that it already feels like home! read more

Clearly whoever was in charge of picking a location for a retirement home was intelligent and business savvy enough to select one of the noisiest and most popular bar districts of one of the top party colleges in the country. Based on that standard, I'd like to submit my resume for consideration as CEO. My resume goes as follows: Highschool diploma: 2009 Fartin around: 2009 - present I think you'll see based on your previous hires that I'm more than qualified for the position. And as CEO my first order of business will be to build a second senior living community on the 143 near Sky Harbor after which we will of course sue the airport over the plane noise. Ps. You are a trash company and even more trash people for trying to steamroll businesses that existed in the area long before you did by way of bullsh*t "legal" methods. This place is horrible for patient care.. My husband was there for 6 days before I had him moved. He was left 2 times overnight in soiled diapers, which caused acidity burns on the skin..he takes medication to keep his system cleaning out and they were fully aware of it. First time the CNA came in and said she would return and never did, second time 2 days later same CNA changed him and he said you will have to come back and she stated we are not coming back and she did not reurn.. I changed him the first time and the raw skin came off with the dried mess left overnight. He was not given breakfast x 2 once because he was asleep and they did not leave it, 2nd time they woke him up to ask what he wanted he replied nothing right now just water.. At 8:30 am I called and was told the kitchen was closed, he takes medication to be taken with food, again fully aware of that. They recommended bringing in a bedside commode and urinal to help and they never arrived. A riser was requested for the toilet , on Sunday to make it safer, it arrived Wednesday 5/8/24.. He was never showered in 6 days, his hospital gown was changed once even though the clothes they requested were in the drawers that day after he arrived.. He was scheduled to have PT, OT and Speech 5 days a week.. Speech never came, PT came twice once for an evaluation and one session. OT came once for evaluation, one session and again for an evaluation, because the new place he was going requested one.. Absolutely the worst care we have ever had anywhere.. I am with him every single day and calls made during the night. Do Not Take Your family member there! All you hear is, it's a 5 star place , it is a nice place but overall their Skilled Nursing Floor is less then adequate.. They did have one evening nurse that was awesome, she checked us in and then was off for a few days and came back in as soon as she came back to see what happened.. she was appauled.. read more

Great place for PT OT ST therapies. Staff that I encountered during my stay were helpful and encouraged patients to meet personal goals. friendly helpful staff were around all times. Low ratio of staff:patients made my stay better organized for my needs. So far, the best facility we have discovered for our medical requirements here in the Valley. read more

Just sick. How are you gunna move a multi-million dollar retirement home right next door to a staple in the community then attack it like that?? Here's hoping the appeal by the city of tempe shuts this place down. But as if all that wasn't bad enough, common complaints from before the drama include reports of roaches, bad staff, deplorable food... I mean cmon. I actually supported the place at first too, thought it was great to be inclusive of the elderly in learning. Never too late you know? But the result has just been such a train wreck and the statements coming from the company just made it so much worse I really hope if you're reading this you're doing some serious research on the place before you step through those doors. They even got an op-ed done where they accuse people against them of just being "ageist". To quote the article in azcentral. "Unfortunately, some folks have lumped us into a stereotype that devalues our contributions and our potential to continue being of value. Alas, because we've asked Tempe to uphold its noise ordinances, we've been labeled as old and grouchy. Social media and press reports have hinted that we seniors shouldn't be living on campus and in the middle of town." Yeah. When you file a noise complaint against a beloved music venue in that in the middle of mill... you'll get hated. read more

My husband moved to Mirabella at ASU two years from Chicago. It is one of the best moves we have made. We have made many new friends who feel like family. The employees are wonderful and helpful. They all call us by name. The food is 5 star in our three restaurants. The wellness director is outstanding. We have classes many times daily in the gym and the pool, which are all well attended. We enjoy the lectures by ASU professors in our auditorium, and the music provided by our four musicians in residence, who are ASU students who live here and perform and teach us about music. We also enjoy taking classes at ASU, which are free to us as residents. Living within walking distance of the University, shopping, theater, etc. is a big benefit. Bus service, both free and paid, is great in this location. It is reassuring to know if we need extra help in the future, assisted living and memory care are available in the building. read more

I can't say enough about the friendliness of the residents, the feeling of freedom, the safety, outstanding food, great staff, immediate attention to maintenance, proximity to cultural events, opportunities for intellectual growth. and the the events available from ASU. It is exciting to live amidst the hustle of campus life. It has been a second blossoming for me after my husband died and I was trying to get my new balance. Covid was raging at the time and many of our services were not available at that time since Covid has ended, we now have all kinds of amenities and services including full gym, game rooms, and especially great dining facilities. moving to Mirabella is one of the most intelligent things that I've done in my lifetime. After taking a personal tour and asking lots of questions, I was sadly disappointed. Please read the fine print. Ask about how/when you will get your "entrance fee" back when you move out. Ask about the assisted living and memory care units. If I were to retire in Arizona, I would be money ahead ( and much happier) to BUY a place such as Pebble Creek or Canta Mia and then when/if the time comes, use all the money I had saved to hire aides in my own home or selling my home ( probably at a profit) and moving to an assisted living facility. read more
