We were looking for a facility where more eyes would be on her and she could get Care if she needed it. We toured many independent/assisted living facilities in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. We want to give a special shout out to the following employees who have made my mom's move such a success. Wesley, Lisa, JoAnna, Medhia, & Abria.

Though my parent enjoys it at the Manor, I've been concerned about continuous increases in the rent and fees, especially the latest increase of just shy of 15%! This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. The Manor seems to have also lost several good and caring employees that we really liked. I'm starting to get concerned about the trends I've been witnessing. I hope these trends don't continue.

Maryvilla is one of the few places that actually have 24/7 nurses that makes sure the loved one gets the best possible care - Been going for about a year. There's two dining rooms with gourmet food, great 24/7 security - and there's 24/7 activities that happen there. There is few pianos to play on, a small arcade area, a library. There's a huge living room where residents watch movies and the view from the balcony areas is great during July 4th fireworks in the area. No complaints here, you may see protected wild life like Javelins in the area but thats typical in Scottsdale. This area is also next to Fairmont Princess Hotel so out of state loved ones can visit and stay at walking distance. So this place may be more expensive than most places that just let the residents sit around - I seen interaction with residents with the caring nurses that's been there for many years. A++ place, would highly recommend.

Plus, you will pay VERY high monthly dues on top of the buy-in fee. From day one, we were dissatisfied with Maravilla. From the dishonest salesperson misrepresenting the unit we were "sold", to management wringing every dollar they could out of us when we decided to leave for better accommodations, we often felt like we were being taken advantage of or mistreated. I can only assume that many of the people on staff at Maravilla have no aging loved ones, because if they did, they would behave with more compassion and humanity than we ever saw from them. My advice...Keep shopping and you'll find something better. It might not be as pretty as Maravilla, but the people will probably care about your loved ones more.

I spent several years looking for a long term facility for her because I didn't want to be caught off guard if something happened and she needed placed. I didn't want this important decision made in haste. After visiting more than a dozen facilities in the valley I selected Pacifica. I tell you the background because I have read several reviews not all good about the facility and I feel it's important give perspective. In addition to my research and visiting the facilities around the valley, my father was in three different facilities before he passed. What I have learned and I believe families should be aware is no place is going to feel perfect. No place is going to be as good as your loved one with normal health or brain function and living in their own home. So it's important to look for a partner in your care. I am beyond grateful that I found Pacifica. Although it's only 4 min from my house I would not have known about it without Care Patrol who let me know they had Alzheimer's cottages. From the first visit I felt heard, understood and respected. When we have had what I call "growing pains" them learning my mom, them learning my expectations and me learning their abilities and goals for mom, the executive director and departmental directors have had their doors wide open. When there have been challenges there has been a very lovely word - "yes" that they use in order to make sure we find a way to make the situation better. I love that my mom still has dignity and privacy in the cottage. I love that the little things to make her room a home have been met with a yes. I think the cottage based system should be the future for Alzheimer's. I have not seen a cognition based system implemented as well as it is here. My mom is very high functioning and so are the peers in her cottage. But I have the peace of mind knowing when she does need more help or loses her ability to communicate etc that there is a place for her on the same property in another cottage. Stop and see what I mean for yourself.

My Mom lived at Pacifica Senior Living assisted living (now Paradise Valley Senior Living - more on…read morename change below) for the past 3 years and was promised improvements from the day she arrived until the day she left this week. They never materialized. She joins a long list of residents who moved in only to discover the reality of living there was nothing like the slick marketing website and brochure full of fake photos, fake food, fake residents and fake activities. I personally witnessed residents move out within a month of moving in. This is a CORPORATE-RUN facility that is chronically and deliberately understaffed. Bless the care givers and med-techs. They are overworked and so underpaid, most of them have full-time second jobs. They are constantly quitting due to the poor work conditions. You NEVER see senior staff in the building providing support because they're busy in their offices inventing new ways to cut costs. Waiting 30 minutes for someone to answer a call light is standard. The food is barely edible. For years it's been the same reheated from frozen food...cooked in another building and then brought to assisted living in unplugged food warmers. It is rarely warm. Residents are left to sit in their rooms or sit outside staring at a parking lot all day. There is no sense of community or fun. Individual birthdays are neither recognized nor celebrated. There's no music, no movies, no outings, no excitement, no creative outlet, nothing to do and nothing to look forward to. It's been the same 20 minute chair yoga and rotating 30 minute card games for 3 years. They're now moving their sales person with zero activities experience to lead activities because their last activities director quit. In the past 5 months, this facility has lost its executive director, nurse, resident care coordinator, maintenance director, chef, activities director, business manager and four med-techs. The Arizona Department of Health Services is frequently at this facility conducting inspections due to complaints of neglect and poor resident care. If you want the truth about this facility, look up "Pacifica Senior Living bankruptcy." Pacifica Companies is the owner of this home. They changed their name and declared bankruptcy to evade a $23M judgement stemming from a lawsuit for resident neglect. https://www.mcknightsseniorliving.com/news/senior-living-giant-pacifica-files-for-chapter-7-bankruptcy/ During the 3 years my Mom lived at this facility, she suffered injuries from falls that were never properly assessed, treated or reported. Last year after a fall I was told she was "fine." She was never assessed by a nurse despite my asking for 4 consecutive days. I finally insisted she be taken to a hospital where she was diagnosed with a "life-threatening brain bleed", from which she has permanent cognitive injuries to this day. A few weeks ago, my Mom fell and again they failed to properly assess or treat her. I was told she was "fine" only to discover she was in too much pain to stand up. I called 911 to have her taken to a hospital and it turns out she had a hip fracture. I called the interim Executive Director, Erin Masterson, who also runs Cottages at Peoria (they have the identical website with the same fake photos) and asked her to return my call to discuss my Mom's injuries. Not only did she not return my call, she texted me that my Mom "refused to go to the hospital this morning," as if that absolves her of the responsibility to properly assess and communicate my Mom's injuries. Instead she blamed my 83 year old mother (who has dementia) for not wanting to go to a hospital. I've since moved my Mom to a new home. She's received more competent care in this FULLY STAFFED home in 2 days than she ever did during her 3 years at Pacifica/ Paradise Valley. Read the reviews of this company and of this facility. Do not believe the fake marketing and false promises of "change." Also disregard the light on details fake 5 star reviews. As long as Pacifica Companies owns this facility, it will NEVER change or improve.
