I went to the optimum store to return my equipment and cancel my account with optimum after having billing and connection issues that after three hours of discussions with tech support was not resolved. Once the customer representative at the optimum store got off his personal phone he was able to accept my equipment but was unable to cancel my service. He did give me a phone number to call. After being on hold for over an hour, I was connected with a representative.
When I attempted to cancel my Optimum service with this representative, the experience was unnecessarily stressful due to this overly aggressive individual. While I understand that retaining customers is part of their job, the level of pressure I faced was unacceptable.
The representative repeatedly ignored my clear request to cancel and instead tried to convince me to stay with multiple sales pitches. Despite me stating multiple times that I had made up my mind, they continued to push, making the interaction feel more like a hard sell than a customer service call.
What should have been a straightforward process turned into a drawn-out conversation filled with frustration. At one point, I had to ask repeatedly just to move forward with my cancellation. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional but also makes me less likely to consider Optimum in the future should I need service again.
Companies should respect customers' decisions and streamline their cancellation process instead of resorting to aggressive tactics. I hope Optimum addresses this issue to improve the experience for other customers. read more
