They recommended a brand of contacts that was more affordable than what I had been using, and they replaced the lenses in my glasses without pushing me to buy new frames. They also take my insurance. I'm back in contacts and have new old man glasses. Thank you so much, it was a nightmare trying to get contacts outside of NYC. Unless its here or a place I have in the west it's a no. I been to Costco 6 times trying to get fixed for contacts and it was a no go. 6 times and paid about $170 to walk away with only a contact for my left eye, sad but true. I was over driving out to Elmhurst to see the Eye Doctor so I remembered this place and gave them a call. Optical Warehouse takes my insurance which was a first! I was super excited about that part. And I was able to get free glasses as well. I love this place and its its highly recommend by me. This location only Greenpoint, I never been to the other ones. Its so easy and simple here, I was fixed and they order a different sample for me but it get done fast. So hopefully by next week I will have contacts and new old man glasses, yes! read more

I had a great experience here from start to finish. Dr. Luana Menezes is fantastic. Everyone on staff is so helpful and patient. It was my first time with progressives (+ transitions) and I was a little apprehensive. Luckily I chose Optical Warehouse - the prescription is flawless and I love my frames! I thought it would take awhile to get acclimated to the progressives, but it was shockingly seamless. They have some beautiful Saint Laurent and Celine frames, among other quality brands. Yesterday I returned a pair of glasses to Warby Parker because they were too heavy but did not purchase a new frame because I had contacts. Later that night, as I'm removing my contacts, one jumps off my face and is flushed down the drain!!! Now I'm glasses-less AND contact-less. :'( I called them this morning, spoke to Julia. I came in this afternoon and had a cute pair of locally-made frames (Brooklyn Heights Eyewear) and loner lenses within an hour TOTAL! (And I tried on at least 10 frames!) So glad I found this place. I've been getting my contacts here and coming in for annual eye exams for the past couple of years, and I've had nothing but good experiences. Both eye doctors I've seen have been incredibly friendly and the exams have been quick but thorough. Save yourself a horrible experience and take your business elsewhere. I explained I needed the plastic nose piece on my glasses repaired, and that the frames needed to be slightly adjusted. The girl behind the counter couldn't have given me a stronger look of either annoyance or disgust, and proceeded to charge me $5 for a repair that took 45 seconds. She quickly placed them on the counter in front of me and gave me the same look of annoyance without saying a word. She hadn't adjusted the frames and there was now some crusty material on the lens. I asked if she could please adjust the frames too, and she said: "It's not my problem if they break." I gave her permission to maybe break my glasses, she fiddled with them, and handed them back in the same condition. I put them on my face and asked if they were straight. She replied, "No, and there's nothing else I can do." I paid my $5 and left. What a shitty experience. read more

I came here for an eye exam and contact fitting after 1-800-contacts realized my prescription was years old and refused to let me re-order. The shop is deep in Greenpoint. I sometimes find the reception chilly when I, an obviously non-Polish person, enters establishments in Greenpoint. This was not the case here. The women working in the front were very sweet and friendly. The eye doctor was GREAT! I forget his name, but he was a young Williamsburg/hipster type. He gave me a thorough exam and corrected the crap prescription that I had been wearing for years. He accurately diagnosed my astigmatism and gave me frank advice about daily versus monthly contacts. The best thing was they gave me lots of sample contacts to try so I could make sure I liked the new contacts and the new prescription I didn't get glasses, but the selection of frames was good and the prices seemed reasonable. This place may not look as appealing in some ways, and they may not necessarily have all the fanciest & most costly frames, but they WIll provide you with great service at a reasonable price. My own situation is that my eyeglass prescription is difficult to fit properly. But the caring & competent optometrists here take the time to perform a thorough eye exam, as well as explaining any issues that may arise. They are excellent. In addition the staff that helps you choose eyeglass frames never tries to push you into buying something pricy, or something you don't need. They offer many sturdy frames at very competitive prices, with more economic alternatives available as well. Without insurance I paid $299 for a titanium pair of frames, lens and eye exam - and in addition I added $25 for a one year replacement warranty in case of breakage. Ready in only 2 days! The bottom line is that the people here are friendly, helpful and competent --and they work hard to achieve customer satisfaction. They offer & fit soft contacts as well, as well as glasses, but not hard contacts. The office is conveniently located near the Nassau Ave G train stop, as well various buses. read more

I was a regular customer . I have been going there for years and spent thousands of dollars in this store. Recently I needed to do a new Frame that was rimless for a one day event at work. I got my frame and new lenses for not cheap, around $250. I came back few days later after I called asking about their return policy because I was unhappy with the frame being too small for my face and making me dizzy. On the phone they said I could have store credit so I went to the store and was very rudely welcomed by the manager who accused me of returning the glasses after I used them for my work event and didn't need them any longer. An accusation that was untrue. One I did not take lightly since my work event is at the end of the month. I was talked to very inappropiately and asked to lower my voice if I wanted him to return my glasses insisting on his accusation and not allowing me to respond! The assistants in the store ganged up on me saying I took the glasses after I tried them , also accusing me of the same!! Unacceptable and this is definitely not a way to treat a regular customer or any customer as a matter of fact. I usually don not write reviews but I do not recommend this store. They answered all my silly questions without judgement. I arrived an hr early, they saw me as quick as I arrived and didn't take long to get a perception. I've been going to these guys for at least two years, usually for contacts and necessary exams. I decided not too long ago to get some new glasses because my frames were super dorky. I had my exam, picked out some awesome frames and everything was very easy and I loved what I got. Jump to yesterday when my frames broke. I was so sad. I walked to the shop today and they had the frame in stock. They popped in my lenses and I asked what I owed. The response: NOTHING! I asked why and was told because they believe in customer service. I had a really great experience getting my new glasses here! Not only do they have a great selection of frames, but they are super helpful and nice! I only had a prescription for contacts, but they sat me down with the doctor right away and got it translated for glasses. the ended up being a bit wonky when i got them in (not their fault, i was in a hurry and answered some of the "#1 or #2?" questions without thinking). they had new lenses for me the next day! I wear contacts, and therefore find myself in an optical store pretty often; and the truth is its really hard to find a decent one - I'm not even talking about a good one. It's hard to find one that gives a damn about their customers. Optical Warehouse isn't good or even decent - its excellent. No BS - I'm thrilled with the level of service and attention they offer. The doctor is willing to take the time to make sure your prescription is perfect, and to explain all the possible options for contact, glasses, and shares relevant advice on keeping your eyes healthy. They helped me with a new prescription (I can finally see normally), picked out better contacts, and new glasses. The selection is wonderful - I'm sure anyone can find something that's perfect for them. And their orders come in quick, you don't have to wait to see better. Hello Greenpoint! What a great place for customers. Wioleta who took care of me was as good as it gets! She is patient, kind, offers a great selection of frames, all geared to your specific needs. No pressure to buy and offered a broadly priced selection of frames. Also offered my solicited advice on the choices I liked. Note for those with insurance(me) she called them and came back with the forms to work with. That has never happened before to me. The store is stocked with about every designer name, including some very high end lines. When all was said and done, I was delighted with the service and the price was really great. I was in need of a glasses refresh (plus had 13 days to spend my FSA) and decided to try this place out. Really happy I did; I had two pairs of designer frame glasses made for what it would cost to get one at Oliver Peoples, and they came out beautifully. I was given an eye exam on a walk in basis (!), and they offered to rush the glasses to me; I let them know no need at all and they still returned them in under two weeks over the Covid holiday season. The glasses came with a bunch of benefits like free repairs, a free follow up exam, a voucher towards a future purchase and other stuff. They have a lot of cute designer frames and also some more affordable and still very cute options, as well as a lot of sunglasses. A nice lady in the store helped me pick out frames and was super patient (I like to try on a lot). Everyone who worked there was really cool, they were transparent about pricing, and they were just so accommodating and professional. I went there this morning, the staff was helpful, and they were very direct helping me picking the frame, which I liked. I then had the exe exam, and this was the best doctor ever! He was nice, explained everything, and gave me tips on how to care for my eyes. I have been wearing glasses for 20 years, and this was the best experience I ever had. Go Somewhere else. Visited the place in June to figure out what my insurance will cover. The lady behind the desk quoted me a price of 800 after my insurance coverage, even though the same pair of glasses with lenses would set me back 200 from Lenscrafters. Said thank you and left. Four months later, I found out that they put in a claim on my insurance without offering any services or even letting me know. Accidentally called another place on Manhattan avenue to resolve the situation. They stated that they get calls from Optical Warehouse customers all the time for a similar issue. Apparently this is their standard mode of operations. The women behind the counter are rude and couldn't care less. Finally, I had to call my insurance provider and explain the fraudulent claim in order to get it off my benefits plan so I could use my insurance again. read more

With their assistance, I found the perfect pair of glasses to compliment me on the day to day. Since I've yet to make a regular switch to contact lenses, finding the right frames for my face is absolutely essential. Optical Warehouse has a huge collection of styles in store (and the sales staff was extremely patient as I tried on half of the selection.) The optometrist I saw here (whose name I am very embarrassed to admit I forgot) is wonderful. I have been suffering with an excessively watery eye for years, and she fixed it! It was an unpleasant procedure (she had to unblock a tear duct) but it didn't really hurt and she made me as comfortable as possible. I have a normal eye again, and it's a huge relief! I can't believe no other eye doctor suggested this before. Even better, they worked with me to optimize my really crappy insurance, and didn't charge me at all for follow up appointments. I wanted to give the place a 5 star. First I walked in and asked if someone could take a look at a pair of sunglasses that I had bought elsewhere. They said that they would fix it - one of the lease fell out due to a loose or broken screw. While I was there, I tried on some sunglasses and they had a decent selection but not a lot. I ended up purchasing a pair of Jimmy Choos and had received 30% off. After a couple of hours, I received a phone call saying my original sunglasses had been repaired and I could come by. I did also in that time found out that my Jimmy Choos were priced much lower by $100 from other online stores. I went back and asked if they could match the pricing and I wasn't treated with the same tone as I had during my first visit. First Visit - the manager said "sure why not it's Friday 30% off!" and second visit - "no we cannot give you matched price because it could just be a fake picture on someone's website who lives in a basement at his parents house and if we do take your glasses back, we'd have to charge you a 25% restocking fee". It was a bad attitude from the manager and this is why the 2 stars. I felt bad for the original sales lady who helped me. She was wonderful and sweet and I could tell by her expression that she felt bad for me and thought her boss was talking to me like a jerk. Oh and no refunds. No one emphasized that to me. It's in fine print at the bottom of the receipt. So bottom line, they are nice to you. Manager will be nice if he's trying to sell you something but has illogical thinking. All the ladies there seemed really nice. I'd go elsewhere from now on. read more
