If they tell you a frame has a lifetime warranty... don't believe them. They will not honor or acknowledge it When I bought my glasses, their selling point was that there was a lifetime guarantee from them on a premium frame. That's why I bought from them. I was mugged recently and in the process my attackers broke my glasses. I told them this and asked for their assistance on repair or replacement. The woman who SOLD me the glasses just stared at me and wouldn't speak. Even to say hi. I asked them to look me up in their system. They told me their "system changed" and they had no record of me. I asked if there was anything they would do. Anything at all... One mumbled no while the other still wouldn't speak... I just walked out. My experience at Eyeco Vision was excellent! Making an appointment with Dr. Sung online was so easy and perfect. Her examination was thorough and she took her time which I liked very much. I have been to her many times and it is important to have a trustworthy optometrist. I really recommend 'this' Shop!! The selection of frames is great, pricing is reasonable and the sales can be amazing. Most importantly, the service is excellent. The two associates-- Diana and Elando are the best!!! They are absolutely great! They take their time to assist in whatever way they can. Whether it be with trying frames , making recommendations and offering their professional opinion or handling insurance and paperwork or making adjustments, they are professional and kind and expert!! Their opinion on styles of frames turns out to be invaluable when trying on different glasses. Not sure why all the poor reviews! I live nearby and was a bit hesitant to come here because of them but was pleasantly surprised! Quick, straight forward doctor and helpful kind staff. They talked through pricing and my insurance thoroughly. The best part though is actually the follow up after my appointment. I had left trying a new brand and they were extremely dry. I emailed the staff and they were incredibly helpful, ordered me new samples of another brand to try. Will be my regular eye doctor now. read more

Avoid at all costs if you're expecting service! Ive been buying glasses here over the last years. For the first time I have an issue, where the frame comes loose from the glasses. I come in and the guy tells me to that they can't fix it. What about service??? Now it's gets even better. I go to another store to glue the frame and glasses, because it's already broken. Three weeks later the other side has the identical problem. I go in again and tell them that I hope that they can fix this, now I'm getting told that they won't fix it because the other side is glued... nice catch 11... read more

My former eyeglass prescription was about ten years old, and I had read a bit about baseball players getting "better-than-perfect vision", to the tune of 20:15 or 20:12 instead of 20:20, so I decided to drop in and ask. Dr. Sung didn't bat an eye (no pun intended). She understood my request, walked my through an exam (the equipment has gotten so much better in 10 years!), took my order for new lenses, had me out the door in under an hour. Rude, rude, rude, hostile, rude. The well-manicured goth man at the counter is nice enough. He did a free adjustment of my frames a few months ago. They were still crooked, just in a different way. I popped in the store yesterday to ask if they took my insurance. I wanted to be a new customer for them since they had a nice selection of frames, but Dr. Sung couldn't be bothered to answer my question. She was frantically abrasive and snappy. An older gentleman behind the counter tried to help me by searching on the computer with my social security number. Dr. Sung stood over his shoulder and barked at him about how he was doing everything wrong. I couldn't imagine having an eye exam with this "lady". I recently went to Eyeco to get a new pair of glasses on an existing prescription based on a recommendation. I was assisted by Cathy and she was great. She stood her distance as I was trying glasses on, but knew when to inject her opinion. I made the trek to Eyeco as the selection is a little more modern than what you would see at the big chains. Overall, the experience was great. Cathy was awesome, the prices are reasonable, my glasses were ready within 2 days and I received a call as soon as they were in. read more

I have finicky eyes and usually getting glasses is a complete nightmare of feeling nauseous and having to make multiple returns etc, but I braved this place since they took my insurance and to my surprise everything went off without a hitch, I got cute frames, everything works and no problems. They have a line of frames that are very well priced (under $80) and even though I have insurance, I liked their line of frames so much I went with those. My glasses were done on time and I am very happy with them. I found the service to be efficient and friendly. I would get glasses here again. I also picked up some contacts on my last visit. Jun is very thorough, she detected a problem in my eye and sent me to a retina specialist where I got treated for a torn retina. I'm fussy about computer glasses so I brought my laptop in, Jun watched me work, measured the distance, and came up with good computer glasses (next time, though, I want to look at ones that reduce glare). Here's the interesting part: I have VSP insurance and Jun and her staff assured me that the price they charged me for lenses was the same as the price I would pay anywhere -- Costco, a chain with less personalized care, etc. I've gotten a dozen glasses from Eyeco and Jun and always found attractive, flexible, study frames in the $99 batch. First of all, the doctor did not explain what lens are there and the benefits of the lens. The worst was walking in for pick up, there was no greeting and the staff there are extremely rude. When a patient come in to get there glasses, you are suppose to check their fitting and provide information such as..... if it doesn't feel comfortable or some dizziness you need to explain to them that you may want to wait about two hours to adjust to it or you can always bring it back. However, when ask to get the glasses fitted right the staff just rolled her eyes and use her finger! to pull it. You are suppose to use tools and making sure it is professional. Overall, not recommended to anyone. Please avoid. Worst experience ever. read more

I went here a few months ago for an eye exam because this place took my insurance. I was pretty excited because they had lots of cute frames to choose from. Dr. Jung is a total snot ball. She was getting impatient with me for saying "can i see that one again" during the eye exam. Isnt that part of the procedure? I even suggested that i have my last doctor fax my file over because ive had glasses since i was 7 and lots of eye issues and she rolled her eyes and laughed at me, said "No", and then gave me a prescription completely different from my past few exams. Huh? Incredible how my eyesight has gotten that much better and i wasn't aware! The staff is extremely rude, too. Everyone has that "bedford better than you" attitude. When i finally did get to pick out glasses, the guy helping me wouldnt spare me two inches to try on frames and kept encouraging me to buy all of these overpriced and tacky feminine designer frames when i'd already explained and found what i wanted. Back the fuck off! I don't shop at Rainbow and I don't wear boot sandals. I decided to write this review after my glasses were stolen recently and i had to come back to this hipster hell hole to get my prescription so i could order some glasses online. The vampire tranny working was less than helpful, scribbling down two numbers, not even specifying which was left and which was right. He also rolled his eyes and sighed at me as if i was inconveniencing him with my odd request, even though i was the only person in the place. Did i mention the loud house music? I returned the next day after realizing he didnt provide me with half of the information i requested, and when i explained this to him he said "maybe you dont have an astigmatism?" Really? What? you cant take a break from your weird dance party and check my file again? Don't give this place your money-even if they accept your insurance. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!! Extremely shitty customer service! They don't stand behind product they sell. Ordered pair of very expensive prescription glasses and clear plastic nose pads fell off almost immediately and 1 of them got lost. We came to replace and complain that they don't stay on. Dr. Sung was NOT accommodating at all blaming everything on the manufacturers. My husband wore those for less then a month. She wanted to charge $8 for 1 new pad!!!! She is the vendor and if she takes a manufacturer on and sells their product she has to take some responsibility for it. It's not my place to teach her proper customer service, just she is going to lose my whole family (3 patients) as customers. Dr Jung was arrogant, rude and impatient. The people who work for her were polite and helpful, but it took my telling her to have some patience and that it was only fair. She pushed progressive lenses on me and then gave me a hard time about refunding me $90 as if I OWE her, very strange. The store is stale and the display's are far from stylin'. It's a great place for a glasses shop, but you'd think, if your neighborhood becomes trendy you;d want to compete by cleaning up and treating the clients with the utmost respect for buying your product. She's certainly NO discount place, She works with some health insurance programs, hence she has a tower of free frames, plus the lenses...I'd rather pay a little more for a nicer optometrist! read more

If you have 5 weeks to wait on a pair of prescription glasses that were supposed to take a week at the most, ok. Most people don't. After calling several times I had to go in person to see what was going on and even after that still took more than a week to get my glasses, and when I finally got it , I didn't even receive an apology for the delay. How are places like this open??? By far the worst eye doctor experience I have ever had. They're so unorganized! The actual eye appointment had people coming in and out of the examination room, it felt really unprofessional. They gave me the wrong trial pair of contacts a week after my appointment, and I'm still waiting for one contact. As I'm typing this I have a headache because I can't see out of what was given to me. They're always getting in the chic-est frames (I adore the Oliver Peoples I ordered a few months back) and accept certain vision insurance coverage (score!) I made a impromptu visit to Eyeco Vision, which I chose because they took my insurance, open on Sunday and were within walking distance. I read the reviews before hand and I was worried about the visit but because I have been putting off the eye doctor visit for years, I thought I would have to grin and bare it and order glasses online. I was pleasantly surprised on how wrong those reviews were. Dr. Sung was nice, patient and answered all my questions she as well as explained how VSP (my "insurance" carrier) worked. I know i will most likely have an issue with VSP, because they are an insurance company and insurance companies are always a problem. The gentleman who helped me pick out my glasses was great and was not annoyed (or at least did not show it) on how long I was taking to pick out glasses (which I was not planning on doing). In the end, I bought 2 pair of glasses. My friend with me is purchasing a pair next week. I may even purchase my contacts through them because I trust Dr. Sung and I am very happy with the service. read more

I bought glasses at Eyeco Vision using my employer's insurance plan to receive the appropriate discounts, paid in full and left expecting to get a call a couple of days later when my glasses would be ready for pickup. Instead, I got a call the following day from a clearly harassed employee (the same one I had done business with the day before, who was really very nice and helpful) with the news that the store's owner claims she had undercharged me for the frames because my vision insurance is only supposed to cover some of the frames they have available in the store. Before I ordered the glasses the employee had called the insurance company to confirm the coverage, and this is the description of how the discount should be applied from the insurance company's website: "Any frame available at provider location." I work in insurance, and I can tell you that it's pretty rare in the industry to see language that unambiguous. What's possibly even worse than the games the owner appears to be playing with the insurance companies is that when I asked for a refund (rather than simply agreeing to pay more for something I'd already bought), the employee almost had to put me on the phone with the owner to negotiate the refund directly. Thankfully that didn't have to happen, but that it would even be a consideration shows that the owner of this place must be a real piece of work. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and filing a complaint with the insurance company. Buying glasses is already hard enough without having to deal with stubbornly misinformed or possibly fraudulent behavior at the point of sale. read more

walked in after having a filling at a dentist nearby because my favorite (and irreplaceable, literally..) sunglasses got bent a few days prior. i'd gone into a few shops for assistance, but they all scared me and carelessly started trying to bend my glasses back. walked in here, and the kind woman behind the counter took a look and said "these glasses are high risk." i knew immediately that she took her job seriously, ha!! i stood by like a nervous mother as she gently used pliers to get them back to wearable condition. I found Dr. Sung through ZocDoc. I was able to get an appointment quickly & she saw me right away when I arrived. She seemed very nice, but I could tell she was in a rush. I feel like the exam was not very thorough & the prescription she recommended was WEAKER than my original prescription. It seemed odd. Also, to my horror she told me that I had a piece of metal embedded & rusting in my cornea that I needed to have removed by an ophthalmologist ASAP. I was completely caught off guard because I had no pain whatsoever, but made an emergency appointment for the next day. When I saw my ophthalmologist he did a VERY thorough exam & not only could not find the "piece of metal," he saw no signs of trauma whatsoever. Basically I wasted a $55 copay because of her misdiagnosis. The one positive thing I have to say about my experience, is that the frame selection is great. read more

Just another tourist from out of town when my eyeglasses break! Tried a couple of stores near the motel but they weren't open or didn't answer their phone. Wife found Eyeco on google and I walked the 2 miles hoping they could help. Front desk was very courteous and professional. Glasses took 10 minutes to fix and when I asked how much, "No charge, enjoy your time in New York" was the answer. Referring them to my daughter who just moved to Brooklyn. I had a terrible experience with DO Sung. I booked two appointments for my daughters ages 7 and 10. We got there extremely early hoping to be seen earlier. I was told she was booked and to come back for our regular appointment. I came back 20 mins early for our appointment and was told she was running behind. I waited an extra 25 min after our scheduled appointment only to have her tell me at that time that she couldn't see both my girls because she didn't have any time. She told me how she had a lot of late patients and because of this I who came extra early and waited for her as she was behind couldn't be seen. She refused to honor my appointments and during the almost 2 hours that I was there waiting for her no one told me that she would not see both my girls or offered us to reschedule our appointments because she was running so behind. In my opinion she is unprofessional and lacks communications skills. Please don't bring your kids to her. She obviously was callous enough to have my children wait and not honor their appointments while seeing her late adult patients. This tells me that she obviously has little compassion for children and their busy moms. read more

I got an eye exam elsewhere for glasses in July of 2013 through my work insurance, and received a prescription. Also have VSP which I use because they are better than my work insurance... go figure. Took me a bit of time to get glasses as my prescription hadn't drastically changed and I finally decided to get a new pair after wearing the same pair for more than 2 years. I find a pair I love, bring in my new Rx, and a few days later in come my glasses. Also amazing that Kathy remembered me from coming in one time to the store - extremely friendly and helpful staff here. I was wearing my glasses for a few days and getting awful headaches, brought them back in and they offered me an eye exam (with a small copay from my insurance). They made me an appointment within a few days and were extremely accommodating. After looking at my old glasses and new glasses comparatively, the doctor thought it would be best if she re-examined my eyes. Well, the eye doctor I had previously seen (Dr. Anita Gupta... and she also charged me and my insurance company for services I hadn't received... needless to say she didn't get paid) totally messed up my prescription and incorrectly measured the astigmatisms in BOTH my eyes. The doctor here, very kind, sent my frames out to be done with my new Rx. She said they'd be done in about a week or two, and then three days later they are in and ready to be picked up. Thank goodness for this place - honestly. Really kind folks, excellent services, wonderful choice in frames. Overall kind people. If you've ever had an eye exam before you will know what to expect, it's the traditional kind. If you've never had an eye exam before, go here and you won't be disappointed.
