My daughter's bike needed a new tire, somehow she had a big hole in it and needed to be replaced. I called the bicycle shop closest to our home and I was told they could fix the tire in 10 days... I was completely shocked! Luckily I remember open road bicycles, from the times I used to lived in the area. I called them and to my luck, they had the tire in stock and I was told that they could do it right away if they were not busy. And so, I ventured west and I was so pleased. As told on the phone, they had the tire and were not busy, took them about 15 mins to change. The staff was very pleasant and professional. I really hate being someone who takes the time to write a negative review about a business, but unfortunately I feel like I need to. Avoid bringing your bike here for any sort of maintenance. I brought a bike I've attempted work on myself in a for a tune up, new bearings, brake and shifter lines. When I went to pick it up the gentleman who gave me the bike said they rode it for a "safety check" prior to giving it back to me. I rode my bike less than a quarter of a mile before the crank where they replaced the bearings came off. It looked like they stripped the threads that held that bolt in place. I told them about the issue and brought it back, and they assured me they would fix it. They ended up just putting loctite in the screw/threads. No attempt to actually fix the threads. Turns out, loctite isn't really the answer for a stripped bracket.... And on top of that, the brakes and derailed haven't worked right since I got my bike back from them the second time. Aside from the bike issues, the owner (or manager, whoever was working the front desk) of the store wasn't exactly the most pleasant or helpful person to deal with. I don't know if I just caught him on a bad day both visits or what, but it seemed like he didn't want to give me the time of day at all. When I first showed up with the bike he didn't even acknowledge me in the store for about 15 minutes, and was extremely condescending when I told him that I would like to have my bike fixed (sorry I was trying to give you money dude?) When I brought the bike back the second time, same thing. Almost like he was insulted I had an issue after they worked on the bike. I ended up shelling out more money for tools and parts, close to doubling my initial cost of fixing this thing. Still better than dealing with this place for a 3rd time. Seriously, don't waste your time or money here. There's way more knowledgeable and helpful staff at other stores in the area. read more

So as a lot of young, non-driving teenagers do, my son obtained a dumpster bound bicycle on garbage day. It was older and in bad shape. We he rode the bike up to the house, excited and wide eyed, I quietly sighed knowing that this yellow contraption was going to cost a fortune to repair. The bike came to a stop in front of me, protesting loudly as it did so.... 'SQUEEEEALLL, CLANKITY, CLANK-CLANK!' Yep...a fortune. So, with much trepidation, my son and I carted the tired old bicycle to the absolutely fabulous guys at Open Road Bicycles. I couldn't have been happier! They let my son talk to them about his new 'find' and then took the bike in for a day to access the makeover needed to bring the bike to a safer rendition of its current self. These guys called me the next day and had already tweaked the bike into a good riding condition! And for all they did, in the timeframe they did it $80.00 was a small price to happily pay. The Open Road shop is also loaded with all kinds of specialty bicycles, riding gear and accessories as well. One or both of the owners are usually working the store and are incredibly knowledgeable on everything bike related. If you have a repair they literally walk you through that repair step by step. You may want to keep Open Road in mind if you're looking for a higher end bicycle as well. They have a pretty big selection for such a tiny shop. read more

Watch Out!! Super non-transparent attitude when you ask questions about their repairs. Like they're trying to hide something. Owner is very curt and condescending. Has a real snarky attitude. Acts like he's doing you a favor by fixing your bike. Honestly, a real asshole. I bought a new bike there because I was referred to him. Wish I hadn't bought it from his store. I tried working with them and have had the bike in for service. Each time I was treated like crap. Last service I had done there I got a written quote on what it would cost. When I picked up the bike it his price was more. He told me the parts price went up and screwed me for more money. I checked the price of the parts he put on the bike on the web and realized he overcharged me. His price was way above retail. I Would not recommend this shop. Summary: Super poor customer service. Non-freindly owner attitude. Dishonest pricing. Owner is an asshole. read more

Stay away if customer service matters to you!Called at 4 and told them I was coming in- they never mentioned new hours and have not updated on yelp! Two people working at 5:30.. one on computer, other on bikes--both totally ignored me w/my bike at door. They obviously do not need more business. read more

Be careful!! I dropped my bikes off for a tune-up and paid for the services that day ($160). The associate then gave me a receipt. When my brother came to pick the bikes up a week later, the associate said that they were not paid. He tried to charge my brother again for the service. Also, he did not ask my brother when the bikes were dropped off or check his records for the receipt. I had to speak with the associate over the phone explaining that I did hold a receipt. When asked if the receipt was with his records, he expressed that it was. I was not happy that he charged me again for the tune up. I was very thoughtfully considering a Raleigh bike from their showroom, but due to poor business practices, I will not be back again. read more

I have bought four bikes for myself and my kids here. They also service bikes all the time. Followed through on my new bike tune up long after it was due and still got me free tires and rims. Great local service and really honest guys. read more

These guys are great. They hook it up on te rentals and do good repair work. Best shop by far in the area.
