I bought a Groupon Voucher, which was good for a bike tune-up, a free bike wash using their Cintas Safewasher, along with a free bike helmet. What a deal right? I'd say so..   I met Alex, not sure if he is the owner or just one of the main mechanics, but just hearing him talk about bikes, I could sense right away he really knows his stuff. He even gave me pointers on which products and oils to use on my bike in the future. This shop off of Old St Augustine has been opened for 4 months now, per Alex.   Great, quality work. Work was performed and done on time, as Alex said it would. Alex even added more oil to the bike's shifters. My bike rides like new. I took my bike their for minor tune up. They did not even clean the chain before they put thick black grease on it. In addition, they either damaged my gear selector indicator or swapped it out for a damaged one. He falsely claimed that he did not touch it. If you have an expensive bike, do not trust it with this shop. They are not honest! read more

I had a pretty bad experience with the Bicycle Clinic. First, I stopped at the location at the beach twice and they weren't open either time even though their sign and website said so. So I sucked it up and drove across town to their other shop. We had purchased two Groupons for bike tuneups and I wanted a new pair of handlebar extensions, I thought it would be as simple as going to their store and picking some out, right? Well, I walked in and the employee there didn't understand what I was looking for. After 10 minutes of back and forth it finally clicked and he said they don't carry them but I can order from the catalog which he held out. I reached for it and he ripped it away and said that no, they would order them for me. Huh? I told him that no, I would like to pick them out and he said no, no, they will order them and let me know how much they cost. At this point the whole thing felt weird so I left, as I was getting in my car I saw another customer on his way into the store and from what I saw he got much better service. At this point we still had the 2 Groupons so I decided I wasn't going to give up. I called to schedule the appointment - I tried both numbers listed and left messages at both. No response. I called again and someone told me I had to send an email. So I sent an email. No response. So I called back and he told me he didn't get the email, but then he magically found it while talking to me. He said he would call back to schedule our bike pickup. No response. So I called back and finally scheduled an appointment. In the meantime, I went to a local store and found the handlebar extensions that I was looking for. They came to pick up the bikes and told us they should replace the brake lines at $5 each. I also gave them the extensions to put on the bike. When our bikes were returned, the employee informed me that the extensions I ordered did not fit my bike but they got some for me and put them on. WHAT??? Why didn't anyone contact me for approval??? I hate the extensions that were put on - they are nothing like what I wanted. Also, when they dropped the bikes off they told us that yes, the brake lines are $5 each, but there are 4 lines per bike. Why weren't we told that up front???? Not that it would have changed my decision to replace them but we should have been told upfront what to expect the total cost to be. So now I'm stuck with a bike with crappy handlebars. I know that I should call and complain and have them fix it but I just got a weird vibe from the whole operation and quite frankly I don't have the time I'm sure it will take to get this fixed. It will be easier to find a different shop and pay them to fix the mistake. All in all, I had a pretty bad experience with this company and wouldn't recommend them. The owner, Alex, is very knowledgeable and absolutely wants you to walk away with a bike that meets your needs. He will work with you to customize it not only because he is a terrific small business owner but because he has a passion for biking. I bought a bicycle here last month. The owner was very accommodating and patient. I love the free delivery they provide if you live within a certain distance. I live near downtown; I purchased the bicycle at 2:30 and had it on my driveway at 4:00. This is a plus if you have a small car and have no bicycle rack. They also will arrange pick up for bike service. I have not used that yet, but look forward to it in the future. Without getting into the specifics I ended up with these thoughts about my experience there. He has no real selection of quality parts on hand so he retro fits crap to your bike that you don't need and is not appropriate.
