I have been waiting 2 weeks so far for a $25 refund for a defective item I returned. The manager who sold them to me was indiferent to the point of rudeness, and seemed put out that I wanted a receipt and a bag for it. I gave them business because their main emplayee was very personable and seems honest. He tried his best for me to exchange it for something instead of getting a refund, stating this company's return policy is tedious and might take a week. There is a trend in these reviews that shows Cycle Spectrum is good at sales but extremely poor at service. I bought a bike there a couple of years ago and was satisfied with my experience. Today a brought in a bike with a front flat tire and was told that they were booked for two week; for a front flat mind you (a ten minute job). Further, they wouldn't even take my bike into the queue because it wasn't one of the brands they sell even though I'm a repeat customer. So, if you need your bike serviced, go somewhere else. On second thought, if you're shopping for a bike, also go somewhere else. read more

I got a flat tire on my e-bike while my husband was at work yesterday and the only people who tried to help Me were a homeless couple who kindly offered to help me and let me load my things on one of their beach cruiser bikes and they took me to the closest Bike Shop that was in fact 2 blocks away from our home and when I arrived with the assistance I was absolutely stunned and disgusted at the way the employee had treated us, I had never been there before and the door was not easy to see I had accidentally put the kickstand down with the back tire slightly blocking the entrance the male employee clearly was not happy that I had done this while retrieving my shopping bags from the bike the kind lady who had let me use her bike moved forward with her bike letting me know the door was slightly blocked the employee then blocked the way inside the door and closed the door asking us what we were doing, stunned I said I had a flat tire he assumed that it was one of the bikes there looking at the bikes he asked what one was flat I spoke up and said that it was my e-bike that was down the road with the flat tire and I asked if he had a patch kit just something temporary to get home he said he doesn't sell them and walks inside saying that all he has are tubes, I followed him in he's not welcoming at all at this point he said what size tire I don't know thankfully they lady spoke up and told him what I have and he said I don't sell any fat tires, I am looking around at the inventory and he is selling a ton of bikes with fat tires on them and it's not even making sense that they do not even sell the tubes for the bikes they sell. He was extremely rude and clearly was very disrespectful and discriminatory towards homeless people. He did not want anything to do with a paying customer who was lucky enough to have gotten help from the kind polite homeless people and I am very disappointed in this behavior by him and the company that he is representing, I will not tolerate this kind of discrimination against any human regardless of their circumstances and neither should the employee at Cycle Spectrum, the customer service was well below a 0 standard for the service I don't care if they have prices that are below the usual price I'll pay more for parts to insure Customers no matter who or where they come from are treated with respect, dignity and integrity you sir and the company should be ashamed of the way you treated me and the people who were kind enough to help me when I was stranded. They even walked me home to ensure I was ok as I am a Heart Failure patient and was struggling with the heat and walking when they offered to help. My daughter's brake handle had broken off a long time ago. I had gone to the store around 2:00pm hoping they would have time to fix it for me. The guy came out to the car to take a look at the bike and he said he could do it right away! While he was working on it in the back, my 2 year old and I walked around looking at allllll the bikes. I don't know too much about bikes but they had many kinds with different size tires, helmets for kids and adults and other accessories/needs. He finished the brake handle in less than 20 minutes and it was just $16! He was super nice and helped us out the door. Great local shop. I have made several purchases here including a bike and accessories. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. They are quick to help no matter your need. I swung by earlier this morning because my back tire was a little out of line. With no questions asked, they had it in the straightened out and I was back on the road in about 5 minutes. They have a great selection of mango bikes from entry level to high end electric bikes (still haven't figured out why you need a bicycle with a motor but that's a different topic for a different day). They were very nice while we were buying the bike. However we returned a couple weeks later to have the brakes fixed. Should've been under warranty but we were accused of damaging it. We hitched a ride with an awesome lady with a truck to the closest bike shop. This dude said they didn't do repairs on "walk ins". We would have to leave bike and could pick up Tuesday. Told me no one fixed issues on the spot. I asked if he was alone, he said he had a guy in back. Suggested it might be the tube, but refused to help. We were stranded. Called another bike shop up the street who said they could help. So we called for a ride. While we were waiting to be picked up, the dude inside was literally just adjusting his bikes with no customers inside. Watched him fidget around for 10 minutes. Worst customer service and RUDE! Guy was a total jerk when I try to resolve an issue I gave them $188 presuming they took care of my breaks and make sure my gears were aligned right and not skipping and told him I just wanted to spacer. I take my bike thinking nothings wrong and they didn't address those two problems. I come back and the dudes arguing with me the whole time I spent $500 probably here in the las two years. Sorry guys, had to give you one star. I used to come in here years ago and they were so helpful and friendly. Coming back after having been gone for years, I was expecting the same customer service but unfortunately that wasn't the case (as others have also noted from recent reviews). The first guy did help open the door for me and write a few things down on a post-it, but other than that I felt like an alien intruding on a foreign planet of misanthrope bike mechanics. He seemed like a good kid just bored with his job. The others were rude and detached. When I asked about a tune up they said that their boss isn't crazy about that and wants to know how the sales are doing since they do alot of free service on the bikes they sell. Seriously? If you're wanting to sell more bikes treat people with the friendly customer service they're expecting. I saw other happy, excited people coming in to shop for helmets, bikes, etc. and their moods clashed with the moods of the bike salespeople who were listening to Slipknot in the back. A longtime customer is gone and I also won't be recommending them as I used to. read more

Took my Mango Bch Cruiser in for a new chain, simple repair, early Saturday. They took my bike and never said when it would be fixed. I waited and called Monday, to check the status and I got a rude lecture, "not to call the shop, we will call you, that's why we took your number !! " I'm a grown man, I dont need some kid yelling at me, totally out of line and rude. I was going to look at buying, another bike, from this shop, when I came down for my Mango repair. You can buy a decent beach cruiser here but don't take it back for servicing because they are the most unprofessional as they come...and I'm not sure if they actually know how to fix bikes. You're supposed to get free servicing if you buy a bike here, but it appears that you'll be last on the fix-it list. My bike is about 4 yrs old and needed some basic cleaning and lubing of crank and hubs...but they said it didn't need it after having it for a week and doing nothing but tightening the chain. I said that I wanted it done regardless and they reiterated that it didn't need it but maybe they'd get to it if they had more time...What??? I was given several excuses like they have many bikes to service and some people are waiting 4 months for parts, ect....blah blah blah...I told the manager kid it was unprofessional and he got all hot and started noting how I was leaving with a perfectly functional bike. I think that it's pretty clear how this place functions: sell bikes and accessories, build bikes out of the box, and fix nothing because it takes away from simply moving products! read more

Best bike shop on the beach. These guys are close to the condo and super convenient. I shopped them when buying our beach bikes but ended up shopping around and purchased from their sister store further down the beach near Atlantic Blvd. I went to go riding this week and discovered a flat tire. Just like a bad attitude, you can't go anywhere until you fix it. I tried pumping it up at home but to no avail. I loaded her up in the back of the truck and off I went. Parking is your usual strip mall parking but we found a spot right in front of the place. Once inside I was greeted by friendly staff and explained my situation. No hassle, no pressure, the tech advised he could sell me a tube for $6 and I could install it myself or they'd be happy to do it for another $10. A no brainer, they're better trained and have the tools and could do it within 15 minutes, not bad. I strolled around while they got me fixed up and chatted it up about riding trails around my house in south Florida that these guys knew about. A great experience, these guys run a very good business and I'll definitely be back when I need anything bicycle. read more

Upon going to the south jax. bch cycle spectrum operation, I was clueless to bikesdirect.com. HOWEVER..... The crew here turned me onto the site and I bought a Windsor 54" Clockwork (orange-themed,.... of course..) Needing obvious work after a year of riding, I brought my bike into the shop here and confronted Freddy on multiple ideas/issues/questions... Freddy laid everything (maintenance and services needed) out plain and simple, with a realistic, monetary figure and justification for such to be seen... Needless to say, my bike is in great condition, with less money paid, and with new friends in tow.... This is the place to go for all your technical bike Q's and A's. read more

DON'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY AND DON'T BUY HERE!!!! They advertise Free adjustments & Free Service when you buy a bicycle from them. In my immediate family we have purchased 6 Mango bicycles from them. I stopped in recently during a bike ride because my chain kept popping off and needed to be adjusted. There was 1 customer in the store plus the salesperson and the repair person. I asked if they would adjust the rear wheel so the chain would stop popping off (which takes all of 5 minutes). The repair person said he was busy and it would be better for me to bring it back and that there would be a small fee to adjust it. I then asked if I could just borrow a wrench and adjust it myself and was told no. So there we are about 6 miles from home with a chain that pops off and refused service or even to loan me a wrench so I could fix it. VERY POOR SERVICE, INEXCUSABLE read more

Very irritating customer service. Have bought 4 nice bikes here- trying to get two of them tuned up. Called to bring in today and was told wouldn't be ready until April 8th. I explained I will be on west coast for 2 weeks 8-20, so really hoped to have done before that. No can do- which is fine, but was then told i would have to pay storage if they were ready and not picked up within a week...Hmm, so i proposed bringing in April 7th, assumed at least a week to tune up and I can pick up 21st- all good. NOPE. was told if i bring in on the 7th they will be ready on the 10th- so will still have to be charged for storage until i pick up. And was told i was being rude and unreasonable when i told them this was nuts. Seriously one of the most asinine and frustrating customer experiences i have had in a long time. read more

What a great place with excellent service! I have been taking my bike their for small repairs over the years and the guys have always been quick, prompt, polite and have always done a great job. So when we finally decided to finally upgrade our bikes at home, this was our first shopping destination. And last. If you buy a bike from that, it comes with free lifetime labor and annual tune ups - excellent deal! We walked in about half likely to buy and half likely to just leave and shop online. It was both the selection and the excellent sales skills of the guy who was working there that day who made us leave with two beautiful shiny bikes less than an hour later! He was what I would consider the perfect salesman - completely not intrusive, there to respond to questions but not to push, knowledgeable yet not overwhelming us with terminology, making recommendations yet giving you plenty of opportunity to decide for yourself. He was very patient and let us try all the bikes we wanted. He let us ride them outside and was very nice about it. When I was having a tough time picking between two bikes, he figured out what I liked and managed to adjust the accessories on the less expensive mountain bike to feel like the more expensive road one because he figured I really liked the frame and feel of the former. He made the adjustments before I even had committed to buying the bike so that I could try it and make sure I really like it. And I loved it! I have my bike now and I absolutely love it. I am definitely going back to that store for accessories and would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

I have bought 4 bikes from this business all around $300-$400 each in the last 8 months. Brought a bike in with a busted tire and paid to have it fixed. By the time we got home, it was already flat again. Not only did they make me repay to have fixed again, the guy behind the counter was so rude I regret Eve giving any business to this store. First bad experience I've had with a small business in Jax beach and am still in shock by the rude condescending and just overly offensive demeanor of the employee. read more

Outstanding service! I bought my son a bike online and needed it assembled. When we arrived they had received a shipment of bikes, but did not hesitate to take care of us right away. They let us know that the bike would be ready the next day and that seemed more than reasonable considering the time of day and the amount of bikes they had just received, but they must've been swayed by my sons sad face because they called me just short of two hours later to say that it was ready. Bought a beach cruiser with accessories from the place and not a month later the bike was stolen. Someone cut through the lock I had purchased. The police asked if I had the serial number but I didn't even know the bike had a serial number. I went back to the shop to ask if there was any way to get it. I would have been fine with a simple "no" but instead the guy was pretty defensive and said they don't record them and it's not their responsibility. The problem is they never gave me a serial number or even let me know there was one to begin with. Unless you're buying a bike from them they're pretty rude and dismissive. Will be buying a new cruiser elsewhere. read more

I have been going to this bike shop since 1999 and they have always been helpful and professional. I bought a bicycle and many accessories over the years. Less than a year ago I had to replace my bicycle seat. They convinced me to buy one that was more expensive due to its comfort and durability. I keep the bike in the garage all the time and ride it around the neighborhood about once a month. Recently the seat ripped and is falling apart. I took it back to the shop. They said "it happens" and would not consider replacing the seat. Also, they had installed a cup holder that falls over so I can't use it. Instead of offering to help, they just told me I could throw some tape on it. More than anything what disturbed me was how rude and unconcerned the sales person and the manager were. The manager listened to the conversation and couldn't be bothered to even walk over and see the seat. When he did, same poor customer service attitude. After 18 years, I will never return to this shop. Also be careful of their life service guarantee. They will put parts on without asking and then give you the bill. In my case, it was a chain. There are plenty of better bike shops in the area. read more
