If your dog is suffering from endless licking and scratching, you need to visit Marin Raw. We had…read morebeen dealing with our dog's severe skin issues for years and felt like we had tried absolutely everything. Our vet had us on Apoquel first, and then we switched to Cytopoint shots. Nothing provided lasting relief, and we frequently had to put a cone on our dog just to stop him from tearing up his skin. Then we met Elizabeth, and everything changed. Elizabeth is incredibly honest, knowledgeable, and extremely result-oriented. Some people might find her direct approach a bit strict, but it's because she has years of experience and is absolutely sure of what works. She told us right away that we needed to follow her advice exactly, or it wouldn't work. She explained that the entire foundation of the treatment is structured around diet, and nothing else would help if we didn't fix the food first. What I appreciate most about Elizabeth is her integrity. She insisted on taking things one step at a time so we could actually see what was working. She wouldn't even allow us to add any topicals or supplements at first. We changed his food as instructed and saw immediate relief. Because she made us wait, we didn't even need to move on to the second step, which saved us a load of money. She could have easily sold us $100 worth of specialty shampoos and creams that day, but she didn't. She isn't interested in just selling products or slapping a bandaid on the problem; she goes straight to the root of the issue. We are so grateful to have a happy, comfortable dog again. We cannot recommend Elizabeth and Marin Raw enough!

I was happy to receive a referral to San Rafael Animal Hospital, which is still privately owned by a practicing veterinarian. After receiving what I felt was an unreasonable estimate for my small dog's dental cleaning from another clinic, I met with Dr. Archinal and immediately felt comfortable with both him and the entire staff. The estimate was fair and transparent, and I especially appreciated their pricing structure for tooth extractions, which is based on the complexity of the extraction rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This gave me confidence to move forward with the procedure, and the final cost was very reasonable. My pup tolerated the dental cleaning and extractions well and is doing great. Based on this experience, I'll be moving all of my pets' routine veterinary care to San Rafael Animal Hospital.

Melissa kindly handles everything at the front desk and office - her Dad, Dr. Archinal has been a vet since 1982, and is calm, kind, and wise. He's seen so much - his very presence is reassuring. I felt like, no matter what my dog was dealing with, this Dr would have experience and can offer meaningful perspective and advice. What I came in for - was 2 small lumps on her that I was afraid would need biopsy and maybe more - he looked at them and said, I don't think they are a problem, you don't need to do anything, just keep an eye on. What a relief - hundreds saved there! And - even more - when I adopted my 80# dog from a large East Bay shelter 3 years ago (she was dropped off as a senior at a night deposit box, with broken off teeth, so we did not know her past) - I took her to UC Davis dental vet dept and was quoted $5-6k to address her situation. That was out of reach for me so I gave up hope on being able to help my dog in that way, but I'd do the best I could to give her the best life in other ways. It was so scary I didn't even want to look in her mouth from then on, and it was hopeless anyway. Dr A calmly apprised her situation, gave me solid simple, do-able, advice about how to care for her teeth and gums from now on - and I got a quote for less than 1/3 of that prior quote to do the dental work she needed! Now, I feel like I can take care of this, finally, 3 years after adopting her. God Bless this honest, down to earth, family clinic that treats their patient animals like family too!

At 3:30 PM, 5.5 hours later of no update or call on my dog, I finally called. The owner Gadi answers, oh yea they are finished. I walk in as I was waiting in the parking lot at this point and asked if the dog has been outside or had any water going on 6 hours of being there. Gadi just looks at me, I called you at 1:30 PM and left a voicemail. He lied, he did not call. I asked to see record of the call, he searched both his cell phone and shop phone to find no record. Okay so now we established he lied, a dog who has not been tended to in hours with no water and no apologies. IT GETS WORSE. Gadi then returns a small redish golden doodle that was NOT my dog nor resemebled my 50 lb snow white tall doodle. If this is how a business owner treats and cares for dogs, I think people should know. I am new to the area and should have known after my first go around with Gadi. She was there 5 hours and I called to check in twice with clear signs he was annoyed with my check ins and given clear instruction they will call me this go around or typically I would have checked in earlier. I also explained to Gadi I had been waiting in the parking lot for hours thinking they would call soon, still barely any apologies after trying to return the wrong dog and lying to my face. I hate to leave a small local business a crappy review but I really wish someone would have spoken up so my dog and self didn't experience this today. When you are putting trust in an establishment to care for your dog, this is an unacceptable response from an owner who clearly doesn't understand what dogs mean to their owners.

The vet tech gave him a treat, which he loved, while she was getting his vital stats. And the receptionist held doors open for us and helped us to our car when the visit was done.
