Great priced canned cat food. Great assortment of padding, beds, scratchers, treats, everything under one roof. Of course great stuff for the dog too. A worthwhile trip-it's more grounded and less frou frou-than other places. Prices reflect that-and they have some unique brands that are really great. Staff are relatively quiet and don't bother you at all-if I need help-you'll find them busy in an aisle or at the register. I think there is even bird and fish stuff. If you've never checked it out it's worthwhile if you have a cat to spoil. read more

Staff is knowledgeable and always helpful, that is when the store is actually open? This is the third time I've been to the store recently at 9:00 am (as advertised) and the doors are locked. There must be a lack of employee situation? Frustrating, especially when you have your puppy in the car. The last thing my puppy wants to do is sit in the back of the car and wait after having dropped kids at school all over Marin. Maybe change the hours online to reflect when it's actually staffed? I guess my first clue should have been that there are no posted hours anywhere on the front doors. The car next to me left 10 minutes ago, guess I will follow. The first time ai went there I called ahead and they said they had what I was looking for- I got there and it was out of stock The second time I went there they told me to try this cat food for my picky eater and if he didn't like it bring it back for a full refund- I brought it back in the correct time and they would not take it back Third time. We have been supporting our local Pet Club for nearly a decade, but after giving them benefit of the doubt following multiple instances, today's was the final one. First, this location opens whenever the employee in charge of opening that day decides to stroll in. We have sat and waited after our morning walk multiple times. No big deal when they arrive a few minutes after they are supposed to open, but there have been times when we have waited half an hour and no one shows up, we have left and returned half an hour later, and still they aren't open over an hour after the sign on their door says they open. Today, we went in looking for something and there were two employees at the cash register, one with her back turned towards us and the other facing us. We asked about the product we were looking for and the woman didn't even budge or turn to acknowledge us, while the man just stared blankly with zero reaction or a single word. We found what we were looking for just beyond where they were standing, but couldn't find the specific variety. I asked again, and still these two employees stood there, unbothered, not moving, not acknowledging us. After supporting this business for so long and wanting to keep our money local, we will make this place a last resort from now on. There used to be other employees there that were much more pleasant and helpful, but recently we've noticed a couple of new ones who just don't care. I can't speak for other Pet Club locations, but this one needs to train their newer employees. Pet Food Express always welcomes us with a smile and is always helpful. read more

Great Prices and Selection! What a gem in expensive Marin! This store is modest and a bit spartan, but they have such a wide variety of everything my dog needs. I found the Mini size Milk Bones that I haven't been able to find; refills for my dog's Bento Ball chew toys; and most of the kibbles come in the Small Breed size I need for my dog. What can I say -- if you have a beloved furry friend or feathered friend, you must come to Pet Club to see the goodies they have here! Their staff is always friendly and helpful. There is one staff in particular who I love seeing when I'm there, but I can't recall her name. She is so patient with customers! I have a 13-year old cat and, besides her veterinarian visits, I get all of her needs met at Pet Club. They offer a great selection of affordable grain-free wet and dry food options for my kitty who not only has a sensitive stomach, but whom I also want to feed the very best food that I can. There are also plenty of litter box supplies to choose from, as well as treats, scratch and play toys, and cat trees. I can't speak for the other pet items since I only have a cat, but there seems to be a large selection of dog food and dog supplies, as well as things for birds and rodents. I have had to return purchases here before, and they are so helpful about it. It's not the easiest task -- as they'll need to call a manager and then the manager needs to make a photocopy of the receipts -- but if you open food and your pet doesn't like it, you can return it within 30 days! This is especially helpful if you have an older pet like mine who decides every now and then that she would like to eat different food for awhile before reverting back! read more

You know how they say that all dogs go to heaven. Well, if you own a pooch, Pet Club is as close to doggy heaven as you're gonna get. This store has everything a pet owner could possibly need (plus, items you didn't know you needed). I come here once a month to stock up on chew toys, Scooby Snacks, and all other food & supplies. It's definitely the Costco of pet goods (without all the long lines). It's also conveniently located in the same strip mall as Tamalpais Dog Grooming (where I take my dog for his monthly mani/pedi). Best of all, the pricing is super reasonable here. Much more budget-friendly than other pet stores in the area. So as long as Pet Club is in business, these guys are going to have me on a short leash (pun intended). read more

I like shopping here, and my cat (sometimes) likes the food I bring home for her to try. The prices are good, the shelves are always well stocked, and the employees are friendly enough. The layout of the store is a little confusing though, there's cat food in four different places (roughly organized by how fancy it is, it seems) so you'll need to check each spot if you have a specific brand in mind. I guess you could ask someone, too, but wandering around is more fun. Came here a few times during Covid and everyone's always wearing a mask, so that's a plus! read more

Apparently, I've been to a lot of over-priced pet stores. The prices here really seemed much better...! The store feels a little cluttered but I don't mind because I think it just means that they have a ton of stuff to choose from. The employees were helpful and helped me find the cream/lotion area for doggie rashes. Hopefully what I bought will help out my little Ruggler! Of course, I can never buy just one item for Ruggles so I also bought some treats, brushes, etc. Spending less than $20 at a pet store is actually quite the accomplishment for me...! read more

I still head to Pet Club for Tai Chi Kitty. The food I buy for her is a lot less here, even when it isn't on sale, than it is anywhere else. When they have a sale, it's half of the cheapest price in other Marin stores. Litter is a couple bucks cheaper too! The strip mall parking lot is very limited and the automatic door has been broken for weeks / months, but the prices are right and the staff is friendly. For the prices alone vs. other pet supply stores, Pet Club is worth a visit. Selection & variety are excellent too. Because of relative proximity from home or from work, this location in Corte Madera is about the same distance out of my way to get to as the Emeryville location. Each has its advantages & disadvantages: * Traffic - both locations are near enough to commute corridors to be a mess on weekdays but Emeryville is close enough to the Maze to be mess at times on weekends also, that & the shopping center/ parking lot area around Emeryville is no fun to get into/ out of. Advantage Corte Madera * Store - when it comes to the store itself, Emeryville is big & well organized, Corte Madera is cramped & a bit of a mess, I mean there's dog food & cat food sections all over the place instead of having all the dog food in 1 general area & all the cat food in a separate general area. Advantage Emeryville. * Staff - Maybe I'm jaded but with retail jobs the younger the staff the less I expect for service, the kid who rang up my purchase at Corte Madera met this lowered expectation with a true sense of disinterest, younger staff at Emeryville have shown a little more interest, older staff at both locations have been very helpful. Advantage Emeryville. I guess I like the Emeryville Pet Club better than the Corte Madera Pet Club, but I really dislike the actual enterprise of physically getting into & out of Emeryville. Yeah right SR is not thaat far) The place istself is somewhat dingey , odd smelling and badly lit ( as in wrong lighting) This is based off of 3 times being here which lately I have been doing that alot going somewhere 3 times then review unless it was a fantastic experience or a horrible one. first time cashier was flirting with my spouse in front of me . Second time stood an an empty register forawhile waiting for anyone to ring me up. All in all they have a variety of pet items, food, bowls ,dishes brushes, dog and cat bird fish etc. while some things are more expensive like their cat dishes then say pet smart, they have grteat prices on items like brushes, toys, some treats . They had a good sale on cat litter not to long ago. I've been shopping At Pet Club for over 15 years.Hands down this is the cheapest pet store in all of Marin!! Fantastic prices on everything including pet food, toys, treats, beds, etc. Great selection of products and brands. You won't find the premiums brands here (Primal, Acana or Orijien) but they carry Taste of the Wild and lots of others. Ample parking most days. The only downside is that the staff aren't terribly friendly, but given the price savings, it's not a big deal. Other than buying online, you won't find cheaper prices anywhere in Marin!! read more

But what's much worse is the unwelcoming atmosphere and the hostility at the check-out counter. Be prepared to be greeted with a snarl by the gimlet-eyed, scowling Manny. Uninformative, resentful, unresponsive are some of his better qualities. ...He's not much for relating to other carbon-based life forms. And his disinterested helper has picked up on the vibe - no smiling, no cheer. Is it worth the savings? Pet Club has done a phenomenal job of turning itself around - the staff are always helpful, the shelves are stacked with goodies for feline and canine pals alike - it's now a joy to shop in this pet shop. Pet Club has better prices than woodlands or pet food express and a great selection of pet foods and toys. My dog will only eat Wellness brand dry and canned food (high protein and low carbs) and pet club has all he needs from puppy to senior. Located in a small and outdated strip mall in Corte Madera, pet club is a gem of a pet store. Parking is limited but shoppers move quickly so spots are typically available. Their are at least 10% less expensive than the competition Petco and Pet Smart. My favorite employee is Scott. Incredibly knowledgeable and always helpful, if I still worked in retail I would recruit this man. We live in Novato and drive past several other pet food stores just to see him and shop at the store. We highly recommend Pet Club. Our one-year-old puppy Blu loves it too - Woof! read more

The best thing I can say about this place is it's cheap. But you most definitely get what you pay for. I've had problems with insects in bird food and other supplies breaking within days of purchase. Managers refuse to take returns on products or ownership of shoddy merchandise. It's definitely a buyer beware experience. To management, I would say get a clue. Yes it is cheaper...but its true, at least in this case, you get what you pay for. My chase gets vitamin c everyday. However, his old vitamin was in a powder concentrate that he hates so I thought I would look for a pill. I checked all the usual pet places to no avail... So I checked out pet club. True its hard to find and not much to look at once there. But, alas they had a pill form vitamin c. Woo hoo, say you...but not quite. While in line i noticed that the bottom of my bottle said expiration 3/08. Well I read that as expired...by over two years. I asked the girl and she said she would check with the manager. While waiting I checked the date on the only other bottle on the shelf. Are you ready?? No really, are you ready?? Expiration 2004!!! Are you kidding?? The girl came back and indeed confirmed it was expired, confirmed there were no other options and then...this is the best. I swear on my puppies paws, she put the bottles back on the shelf. Do not go there. If you must, get a brush or a toy. Nothing your dog might actually ingest. I don't trust this place at all! read more

The dingy, dirty store and attitude you get from some of the employees at this place isn't worth the cost savings. For example, a sign was posted for a sale price on a certain brand of canned dog food. I noticed it rang up higher at checkout. The cashier (Robert) said that the sign was wrong (he yelled at me) and he wouldn't honor the price. It was clearly posted right in front of the food which I pointed out to him. "Different brand" he said but I showed him the sign and he didn't budge. He was clearly wrong but didn't want to admit it because of his piss poor attitude. I went back the other day (the same old Robert guy was there) and I ended up buying a few things and he said nothing to me (or actually anyone else) while checking out. Not Hi, Bye, Thanks or anything. Robert, if you can't deal with people, why work in retail? Why the attitude? Pet Club is a locally owned pet store; I've seen and talked to the owner. (Give them one star for that.) Their prices are better than Chewy's. (That makes two.) You go there and buy whatever it is, and you bring it home and you have it right away. (Three.) The staff is friendly and responsive and knowledgable; you can call and talk to a humanoid. (Four.) They have a quick and easy returns policy, very fair. The last time I went to a competing store, in Montecito Shopping Center, the store opened ten minutes late. I was in a hurry, so I called the store to try to raise someone, and no one picked up. When they finally let me in, I grabbed what I needed and found no one was at the checkout. They also do the "vet wagon" or whatever it is called once a month for low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping. After many more visits to Pet Club, my feelings have done a 180. As I've said in my previous review, I don't mind the unassuming, warehousey atmosphere. Actually, part of me prefers the no-frills approach, especially if it leads to cheaper prices. After having been to several pet stores, I do see that many of their prices are cheaper, and I find myself returning for that reason (as well as the closeness to my house). The negatives continue to be: Why can't I use my credit card? Alright, you're trying to save money on transactions. But then, how about a membership card? The biggest turn around is on attitude. Several times I had experienced poor customer service, leading to my previously bad review. The same employees have completely turned it around for me and have been so amazingly pleasant and outright friendly that it is unbelievable. This includes asking if I was finding everything okay while walking around the store, giving a free treat to the pup, and just making small conversation while checking out. Who knows what was going on before, but it makes me happy that it has changed. read more

Quality pet products at reasonable prices what more is there? I have three cats one dog and currently taming two feral kitties - i need the savings! Especially the cat litter prices, one word - WOW! The only drawback to this is it seems more like a costco for pet supplies. It isn't warm and cozy or cutesy in anyway, which is ok by me because they also don't charge your typical "little shop" prices either. They often have cats for adoption from a local rescue group out front . If you have pets you totally owe it to them to check this place out! Both your pets AND your checking account will thank you! The store manager (aka CAT) is pretty cool too! Minus one star for the fish area, i agree with Zomb E. it is not only depressing but there is never anyone in there. If you have a pet and go to any other store other than this place, you are wasting your money. I am able to get great prices on dog, cat and bird seeds for the yard. I would spend 20% to double going to the big box pet stores, I can never turn back. Example: The ever clean Litters would go at pets mart or petco for $18-$20...this place you can grab it for $11 on sale! Right there is real savings. The shelves are always stocked to the brim with everything, the crew is super nice, and they get you out the door quickly. I don't get these other yelpers saying they are rude, some folks need to check their attitudes. I have overheard several snotty customers....not cool. The Pet Club in Corte Madera is my #1 stop for pet supplies for years. I was in this afternoon waiting in line behind two young girls, maybe 13, buying 2 goldfish, a small aquarium and gravel. The charge came to within $.60 of the total cash on them. Ethan was the cashier and as the girls checked their other pockets, seeing they were getting nervous, Ethan said don't worry and he pulled out a dollar to cover. The girls were happy. I said to him "good job doing that". He said "what's a dollar to make someone happy". It's only a dollar but he could have said return an item. Ethan, whom I have never met, did the right thing... Apparently like some others, I too have totally mixed feelings about this place. Like, it is WELL stocked. Yet, nothing they carry is what I want. Hmm. I keep going back, hoping for a change...? Unfortunately the coupons I always get in the mail don't cover food, but I guess no matter since they don't carry Innova...? The toys are kinda run of the mill, except there was one time they had a mega squeaker toy (like, 24 squeakers or something ridiculous). Believe it was an alligator. I didn't buy it. They also have a nice selection of products for less common pets, fish, reptiles, etc. There a bit hard to find the first time and the interior of their building leaves something to be desired, but it's nice to have an alternative to the big chains. This is a great store that offers the lowest prices on all pet related items! The store seems to have changed hands from the first time I went there (2013) to now (2015), but I can't be too sure. All the staff are so friendly, and are honest about the items I ask about. Cat litter, cat food, and flea medication are all available for super low prices. Their crickets are a dollar for 20, as well, and as an owner of many reptiles, Pet Club is a savior to my budget and my always-empty wallet. A vast variety of products are available here (for fish, reptiles, turtles, etc.) Much closer to my home than the local Petco, and certainly a lot cheaper than anywhere else in Marin. Plus, it's always fun to stand in their fish section and look at their exotic fish! read more

Mixed feelings ... A simple tank cleaning turned into a 4 hour ordeal. We were staying at a friend's house and he asked us to clean his beloved clownfish's tank. After cleaning the tank and adding more water, we thought things were ok until the pump started smoking. Uh oh. Besides that Gordy (clownfish) wasn't looking too good. He kept bobbing to the surface like he was suffocating in the water and was so desperate that he had decided to try terrestrial oxygen. A quick analysis and we realized that the salinity was WAY too low. Things were obviously bad so we headed over to Pet Club. The salesperson was very patient as we explained the fishy problem, and recommended that we test the ph levels. Unfortunately, the only ph strips available were part of a $10+ kit. He offered to test the ph and salinity if we brought in a sample. VERY nice. Picked up a new pump and also some "buffer" that the salesperson recommended to increase salinity. The buffer was pretty much overpriced baking soda but my boyfriend was desperate to save the fish so we bought it. Went home, installed the pump, and added the buffer. Rather than looking better, Gordy appeared worse and moved sluggishly across the tank. The snail on the glass moved out of the water. Time to return to Pet Club. We brought a water sample with us and but were told that our helpful salesperson was gone but would return in about 15 min. Another man, supposedly with the fish dept., came to help us but once we explained that we needed the water tested, he blew us off and told us that the other guy would be back in 15 min. He was not very pleasant to us but was nice to the other lady. Our helpful salesperson returned and tested the water. We bought more salt and saved Gordy. With a new pump, the salt ($14.95!), and the buffer, we spent almost $50. Overall, it was a decent experience. The fish tanks were clean and the fish looked healthy (no growths, etc). The cashiers were pleasant. read more

Everyone has their likes and dislikes, but we've been very happy with Pet Club for several years now. I'm not exactly sure how they do it, but for all of the products that we buy for our cats, their prices are significantly lower than any of the big chains.
