The owner is very knowledgeable and provides great service. Support her small business by shopping here instead of one of the big corporate pet stores. She's competitively priced. In some cases better. read more

I love this store that I recently discovered. Great prices, super friendly staff and very knowledgeable. I'll definitely be a repeating customer! read more

They have high-quality stuff I can't find at the major chains. Innova, Tiki Cat, Weyruva, and other high-end cat food, for instance. The service is knowledgable. I've gotten good consulting there both on cat food and supplements. People are friendly. There's hardly ever a crowd. It's a bit cramped and a little hard to find things on your own, but they're always willing to help. read more

Great place family owned owned is such an animal and people person, dog and cats both agree it's the jam pull up and parking are easy and it's just a vibe! There a fun lil hub for the dog & cat community big small old and young they got you cover! read more

Alex, the owner is great. The food/treat selection is great, and Alex will special order whatever you need! But the guy who works there is the absolute worst. He is always watching loud anime or some kind of cartoon on his phone and doesn't pause it when you ask for help or when you are checking out. He is unhelpful and uninterested and i'm kinda surprised no one has complained thus far. I avoid weekends at Pet Pro to avoid this guy. read more

Really awesome shop with a great selection and a lot of personality. Found my dog's new favorite toy here!

I feel like Alex and I are friends. We chat about our picky chihuahuas and all the funny things we do to keep them happy! Our new rescue, who was once scared of being on leash, now runs with excitement into the store because she knows where the good people are! 11/10 recommend Pet Pro for your dog's needs! read more

Since coming under new ownership in late 2018, this store become my favorite pet store. They are bringing in new cat foods that my finicky feline loves, and the owner has samples available for new products, and lots of good ideas. I've found the first dry food that my cat has liked in years. There are canned food varieties of very high quality in flavors he is going for also. Prices are competitive, and there are sales! At the moment, there is a discount on Sunday, so keep an eye on the bulletin board by the cash register if you are budget-conscious! read more

Lorin is excellent Kind, knowledgeable and very friendly. I wish other retailers were as good as Pet Pro. read more

What a cute little store! I found this on accident when we attempted to go to the vacuum store next door. They have quality items for very reasonable prices, and they genuinely seem to care about animals. The woman who helped us was very friendly and personable, and I will definitely make this shop a priority when I'm in the market for quality pet products. I don't currently have a dog as a companion, but I will make sure to shop here when I do. They have a good selection despite the coziness of the store. It feels like a mom and pop shop for pets, and no one is pressuring you to buy anything like at more commercial shops. Definitely give this place a try if you are sick of the mass pet store scene. They also have business cards for pet services like nail clippings, pet sitting, etc. read more

PET PRO, SAN RAFAEL "If a dog's prayers were answered, bones would rain from the sky." Proverb In fact, dogs' prayers, cats' prayers, and other deserving species' prayers will find everything their hearts desire at Pet Pro, in San Rafael, an invitingly warm and cheery pet store run by the always exuberant and impressively knowledgeable Alex. On my recent visit, during these dark times, I entered a sparklingly clean shop, the large counter glistening with freshness, having been just wiped down, and Alex, in mask, keeping a safe distance. Only one customer at a time allowed in, which went very quickly. Alex also has a special place outside the door, where customers can pick up their orders after calling in. It is all so perfectly accommodating. The real beauty about this paradise of a pet store is Alex's recommendations for the best food, beds, leashes, toys, yummy treats, all kinds of products, including the much sought-after CBD hemp oil. Alex has known all my dogs' particular needs and has recommended certain foods accordingly and they've been a huge hit, even for the very fastidious and elderly. They are now enjoying the very tasty vegan kibble called Wild Earth with toppings of Stella & Chewy's patties and Stella's various stews. You can find premium foods here that you can't find in most places. But the biggest reason to shop here, along with excellent prices, is the care and attention that Alex bestows on every lucky customer and, if they come along for the ride, all the dogs. Another bonus is free parking. Don't wait. Call to order and pick up or shop safely inside. read more

I went in to get a slow feed bowl for my cat and the person working said they'd never seen one before and that I *might* be able to use one of the ones intended for dogs that they had in stock when I asked for help (never mind that I have seen them online and just wanted to shop local). Okay. I will add that this exchange transpired after I've already entered the store (empty except for salesperson), looked for the item and realized they most likely don't have it, and am on my way out. As I am on my way out I see the same salesperson standing behind the counter staring vacantly at me. No hello, no how can I help, no nothing. So I greet her and ask if they might have what I'm looking for just to double check. Not the best experience. read more

I only recently started coming here on a recommendation from another pet lover. This is my new and only place for anything I need for my dogs. Prices: lower than where I used to go. Service: knowledgable, honest, friendly. Selection: Alex, the owner, is dedicated to providing only the best quality food and treats. If you don't see what you want, ask. I previously drove to Daly City to get my dog food. When I first went in, I didn't see what I wanted. I asked about it. Alex had it for me within 3 days. I have only experienced Alex and her way of doing business, and she's amazing. I wish that the old reviews about the old owner could be taken down, because it's not fair for Alex to be judged by how the previous owner ran the place. If you had a bad experience prior to 2018, please give this place another try. I want to see this local business stick around for a long time, so let's support it! read more

This store is great! Good selection and very good prices! Alex and Lorin are extremely knowledgeable about all their products, and really anything pet related. This store is under new ownership and it's worth checking out if you haven't been there in a while. Plus they have nail trimming for pets once a month! Fantastic! Alex Gogaj of Pet Pro in San Rafael is enormously knowledgable as well as has a kind heart. She generously donated dog food for pets displaced by the Paradise fires. When I inquired about a specialty diet for my dog who has kidney issues, she quite honestly said that she believed food for a dog with these issues is best purchased through a vet. SHE is an ethical buisness person and is warm and approachable. I love Pet Pro! They always have what I need and the ridiculously expensive dog food that my boxer dogs require is cheaper there than anywhere else. The people who work there are very nice. It's worth battling the Central St. Ralph traffic to get there. read more

If I could give no stars I would! I am new to yelp and new to California. I wanted to get some treats for my dog so I went to Pet Pro. I won't shop at Petco or Petsmart, and I like to support local business, but jeez give me a reason! The store was cramped, dark and tiny. There was little selection, the shelves were a mess, nothing was organized, the floor was dirty. The worst was the young woman behind the counter was on the phone, didn't acknowledge that I'd come in (I was the ONLY person in the place), didn't get off the phone while I browsed around and didn't offer any help to find the treats I was looking for. They didn't have what I was looking for anyways. As I was walking out I heard the girl on the phone tell the person she was talking to "hold on a sec" then "nevermind she left". Worst service! read more

When we moved up to Marin from L.A. I was terrified that I would be paying more for the same quality pet food for our dog and cat. I was pleasantly surprised when I found Pet Pro. They have the cheapest prices that I have found anywhere for EVERYTHING--dog bags, harnesses, food. They also have a great selection of brands from Taste of the Wild to Weruva. The staff is also always friendly and helpful which is a plus. read more

Love this store. Really friendly owner, really nice items and it is nice to be in a store where the owner cares and has actual knowledge!! Nice selection of everything, my dog loves their treats over big chain store ones. read more

What a wonderful pet store! The staff are so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Prices are great, and you can actually park for free in a lot right outside. I've been living in Ross for a few years now, and never noticed this hidden gem. After my visit, I'm never going anywhere else! read more

Katcha (sp?) who used to bring her two dogs, is one of the VERY reasons I HAVE shopped ongoingly at Pet Pro. There are lots of other pet stores, but I very much enjoy the atmosphere largely because of her expertise, and have very much enjoyed seeing her two cute dogs there. I was surprised and disappointed to see only one dog in the shop last time I visited and was sad to learn it was due to the review by Leslie M. I have seen only compassion from Katcha and I think the two dogs are a big assest to the store...and believe most people enjoy them, and that it is better for the two of the dogs to be together during the day than alone/or separated. And it won't bother Leslie as she has already said she wil be somewhere else! My experience with Katcha is that she is very interested in her dogs and gives great customer service--I even mistook her for the owner/manager of the store. This must have been an extremely unusual case?-Linda H. read more

I live in the Gerstle Park neighborhood and Pet Pro was recommended by my realtor. I like to support small, local businesses, rather than big chains, so this fit the bill. Their selection was impressive: raw diets, grain-free, high protein diets, healthy treats, quality supplements, collars and leashes. They have everything and even some stuff I didn't know I needed (: read more

This shop is wonderful! The owner is so pleasant and kind. I went there yesterday for supplies for a new kitty cat I'm getting and she was so helpful picking out what I needed (and no pressure to buy, or the most expensive things). This place seems to really care about animals and customers. Love having you guys right down the street! read more

I so appreciate this wonderful store. I have shopped here for years--selection, pricing and service have always been great. Meanwhile, I have grown old and permanently disabled, currently quarantined by acute illness. How to feed my poor cat (aka best friend and loyal nurse)? I worked with the owner, Alex, to place a large, varied, cost-saving order which she then DELIVERED TO MY DOORSTEP because I am bedridden. I wish I could give them more stars! read more

Very friendly, helpful service. The employees always help you to find the best price and products for you specifically. I've never felt as though they tried to charge me more than what I should pay. This is an underrated store that should be looked at more! read more

Katya and Lauren are great and very knowledgeable. Good products and good prices. Highly recommended!

Great selection for such a small store, friendly knowledgeable service and a real sense that I'm supporting a small, local business - not the feeling you get at PETCO. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, so much that I've stopped traveling over the bridge for Pet Vet/ Pet Food (except when my prescription cat food demands it). read more

I agree that this isn't the neatest and cleanest store but their prices for high quality dog food is the best around.

I love to support a local pet store and the people at Pet Pro have been GREAT. My two dogs eat a special diet that I couldn't find anywhere else. Pet Pro has always been able to get the food for us quickly and for a great price. read more
