Woman-owned and locally-owned sweet little pet boutique! I was in the area walking by, and as a dog lover, I can never pass up a dog shop. They carry leads, harnesses, Teckleclub rain coats (the best!), toys, treats, dog & cat food (including our fave SmallBatch), and more. And everything is neatly arranged. I had a lovely conversation with the staff member about the best toys based on the size of our pups and their needs (our one pup is a toy destroyer!). Took home a seemingly-indestructible, sturdy lobster toy, and my pups love it. Of course the destroyer ripped a hole in it within an hour, but so it goes in our house. They'll continue to play tug with this for awhile. Thanks Dogville! I look forward to visiting again when in the area. Happy Woman's History Month! read more

We've been coming here for a while now! Definitely our favorite dog store in the area, especially when it comes to dog accessories such as leashes, harnesses, collars, toys... and clothes! (We have a small 7lb chihuahua who definitely needs an extra layer to stay warm.) They have an excellent selection, and all of the items they carry are top quality. The shopkeepers are very friendly and always make us feel welcome whenever we visit! read more

Kind, friendly, and not at all condescending when I told her what I was feeding my dog. I'm always a bit anxious to admit I don't have the time, energy, or $ to feed raw, but she kindly listened and helped me find a healthy and less expensive food than I was currently feeding. read more

I'm back to say that Staysea is so nice! She knows me better than my mom. She picked out a treat and it is my favorite. I want to go every day to see her and get that tasty thingy with the love knot in the middle. The howlidays are coming so be good! I'll see you there. read more

I love going out of town and checking out doggy stores. The biggest draw for customers will be the natural food and treats. Top brands that we've eaten in the past. We even took a treat home that we actually ate. It's rare to find a good one. In the front we were greeted with a 59% off basket and found a little collar that's just right for us. Go sf Giants. It's when seen like a baseball. They also offer a few coats and poop bag holders. If I didn't buy 2 last week I would have gotten a couple. read more

StaySea at dogville is a true dog lover. Every time I walk in the store she has it lease two cute dogs in there hanging out, and wagging up a storm. Dogville has something for every dog lover and their pet. Food, treats, leashes, collars, and Much, much more. About four times a year she changes the window display, (its the artist in her) I stopped in last week and saw her "Bitchopoloy" (dog spin on monopoly). I could just stare at the gameboard for hours! Wonderful little dog store in downtown San anselmo, well the only one. The woman that owns the place is, I believe her name is Stacy, is so welcoming and always remembers our dog even though we're sometimes infrequent shoppers. We tend to stop in as needed for treats and just when walking around downtown since we live nearby. She carries all sorts of high quality treats, has some of the best toys, and looks to have a great selection of food. I still tend to get food online because it's cheaper, but there's nothing like supporting a local business. I guarantee if you just walk in you'll find something, if not a few things you'll want to scoop up and buy. Oh, and they have the most amazing dog beds, not the cheapest, but our pup LOVES it and going on 1 year it looks nearly brand new still! read more

I've owned a small business across the street from Dogville for over 10 years now. My wife and I are lucky to have such a wonderful caring passionate neighbor. I encourage you when you're visiting our little Downtown make sure you pop in to Dogville, you won't be disappointed! read more

Really great recommendations from the owner, Staysea. She suggested chews our dog loved, and steered us away from ones that could upset his stomach because of the fat content. Tightly curated selection of really good stuff. And the owner has a sense of humor too! read more

I treated myself to a birthday present from Dogville a couple weeks ago. Yes, that's correct, I got MYSELF something from here. And yes, my dog is wearing it. Everyday. I splurged on a Bella Bean collar and leash set - "Who Wants A Walk". It is so stinking cute and fabulous I smile every time I see it on my boy. If he could talk, he'd tell me how much he loves his collar and leash set too. We also got a hilarious stuffed squeaky rhino, which was on sale. Still have lots of love for the owner too - she was there with her "crew" of daschunds sporting skull and cross bone sweaters and a bull terrier aka The Mayor of Dogville. Could not be a more fun bunch there. I will happily spend way too much money here on many, many more occasions. read more

I can appreciate that for dog-owners, this is a great resource in San Anselmo. However, as well as being completely averse and sensitive to animal cruelty of any type, I am just as averse and sensitive to portrayals of animal cruelty. Whoever is responsible for the window displays at Dogville clearly does not share the same sensitivity and I am concerned that easily influenced passers by might take those portrayals as acceptable behavior. Examples: Hallowe'en display showing a dog tied down to a gurney with electrodes attached, an effort to show a Frankensteinian canine. Christmas display suggesting that squirrels that have been run-over and deer that have been shot are all an acceptable part of the 12 days of Christmas (or whatever). I understand that these displays are meant to be humorous but they miss the mark. I am one of the most difficult people to offend but when it comes to animal welfare, don't mess with me. read more

Love this place! I've been in the store several times getting gifts for my canine friends. I'm getting my very own little puppy and just went in to get a couple toys. The owner is super sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful! I will be a frequent visitor with my little puppy. It's so nice to have a place like this in Marin. Please go visit, you won't be sorry! read more

Great shop for dog lovers and owners, they have neat selection right now of holiday stocking stuffers and gifts for pets. I don't own a dog but have 3 chats . We've been here twice now and both times they are super welcoming and helpful. Love the dogs they have there hanging out in the store. They carry the dog and cat food we buy and my dog love the treats they sell from the treat jars. The dark haired woman there is so sweet and I love getting her opinion on toys. Our shih-tzu is super tough on toys and they usually only last a day or two. read more

Even when i have too many squeaky toys, i can always find another amazing toy that my dog goes ape over.... I also am in love with the dog food that the owner keeps in supply, wilderness and wild game formulas and every healthy snack on the market! See you there! Sandra from SPROOS read more

As you approach this store you think that there must not be much to it since it is so tiny! But as with San Anselmo itself it is packed with surprises and many great finds for your pooch! All of them meant to be of the best quality for your k9 friend. To say the person working is friendly and helpful is understatement since she was so easy going and bright and cheery is was as if you were seeing a friend not a business person! She is fantastic! As you look around you find items that are unique and items that are consistent with other stores. You can see and feel the love from the owner of the shop throughout your visit. She does not put in her shop what she would not give her own animals. As you leave no matter who she is talking to she will wish you a great day. If you have a pooch that you want to spoil, treat or need for, and are in San Anselmo, stop by this shop! Look for the giant stuft dog in the window! It is fantastic! read more

Good selection of higher-end doggie stuff and great service, with pretty fair prices on quality hard-to-find dog food. The owner is super-cool and knows her stuff, not pushy. It's a high-end boutique without the snot-ass attitude. If I had more buckos to blow on swank accessories for Mayor McPooch, you can bet your last biscuit that Dogville would be my first stop. read more

This is a pretty top notch store with great organization, lots of variety to choose from in all categories a dog boutique has, wonderful friendly service, and a professional touch that ties everything together. We checked out this store this past weekend while we were exploring Marin County as a possible place to call home. Of course that encompasses dog stores. Brought in our two scotties and the owner and her kids were immediately on top of them, overflowing with compliments. I'm a sucker for compliments for my dogs. A bit of caution though, if you're not in the mood for conversation, you might find the level of attention off-putting because they wanted to know all about them. The store isn't huge, but it is a very decent size and has everything a dog owner could want. As some yelpers have already pointed out, they have a large selection of collars and some that aren't very common either. Food selection was good with some very good brands, but none of the ones I usually buy like honest kitchen or ziwipeak. I can't remember which brands, but i'm sure there was Merrick, BG, Wellness, and others in that class. They also had a good table of bully sticks and other chewable bones and the like, which is what we came in for since driving around with the guys in the car tends to be super boring for them. Also a good number of stuffed toys for the dogs as well. A couple other people came in the store that were regulars and they all got the golden treatment, so I don't think it was my charming personality that wins me so much attention. The location is really good on San Anselmo with lots of stores and cafe to poke around. It was raining the entire weekend so we didn't get to check out that many of them. As an added bonus there is a park on San Anselmo you can walk to as well, which is great if you're looking to give your dogs a break from shopping. I don't have anything bad to say. Parking is limited to street and maybe it can be hard to find a spot. We didn't have a problem. Not too many baked goods as some other dog boutiques, so if dog cupcakes, fancy cookies, and the like are your thing you won't find the best selection here. The standard obligatory selection of cat related items as well, which I guess is good that they're there, but not great if you're looking for a ton of cat products. Cost is about where all the other stores are, but they have the friendliness to keep me coming back if I lived in the area. There isn't any over the top things to put this store in the elite category on my list, but it is far better than many others I've visited. I would recommend this store to anyone in the area and to anyone visiting, I think it's worth stopping and seeing San Anselmo along with Dogville. read more

People love Dogville, dogs love Dogville. I bring my black lab in now and then, and he loves playing with all the other dogs. And helping himself to biscuits... So much fun! The owners are super nice, very knowledgeable about their products, and only sell goods that are healthy for dogs. And If you don't have a dog, still stop by to enjoy their wonderful window displays. They are so creative, they'll brighten your day, guaranteed! read more

A major reason to live in San Anselmo or at least visit often: Staysea Colteaux's big, warm heart and amazing knowledge of what is best for dogs -- their food, equipment, treats, toys, and training -- and best for their humans. Staysea's Dogville is home away from home for our dog, Pippin, who stops in there almost every day to hang out, often with at least three or four others. When we walked into the crowded shop with Pippin a year and a half ago, she (Pippin) was a raw little rescue, pulling at the leash, hyped and nervous around other dogs, a struggle to control. Staysea excused herself from a conversation with a friend, came over and asked, "Would you mind if I took the leash?" and within a minute--I'm not exaggerating--Pippin was sitting, looking up at her, waiting for whatever Staysea wanted her to do next. No magic here, just Staysea's love and sympathy for animals and her profound understanding of their relationships with each other and with humans. She has even managed to train us to bring out the best in this wonderful dog. We rely on Staysea for nutritional advice on Pippin's food, for toys that will survive a pitbull's attentions, for collars and a harness, even a stylish doggy raincoat, and certainly for the always welcoming, lively, human atmosphere at Dogville. In every sense Staysea is Pippin's godmother. You will probably hear the same from many other people who rely on Dogville for their pets' well-being. In short: Dogville is a unique treasure. If you have a dog, or if you know anyone who has a dog, stop in. You will be glad you did. read more

I am a complete novice when it comes to dogs. I know nothing. This became a problem when my husband and I fell in love with a little black pitbull and didn't know what to do about it once we got her home. This was a recipe for disaster. Luckily we live in San Anselmo and were familiar with Staysea, the owner of Dogville. Staysea has the biggest heart of anybody that we've ever met. With her vast experience and loving patience she has taught us all how to read each other's signals. We live in a happy, dog loving home. Yay! We stop by Dogville almost every day now for exotic treats (alligator bones, kangaroo jerky, doggy ice cream or Pippin's favorite elk tendons) and we have learned that raw food is the best thing that we can do to provide our doggy with a healthy life. We buy dog food and toys and treats and fabulous shampoos there. For a good time, call Dogville. ;) Katherine read more

I love the toy selection and have purchased many a dog collar here. The card selection is beautiful and the owner really seems to know her stuff. Everything is upscale and quality! I love the little medallions at the counter, perfect for anyone that is mourning the loss of a pet - not somthing that is easy to come by. Thank goodness I don't live in the area, I'd go broke on every little thing my dog "has to have". Oh! I almost forgot. I even bought a bride maids gift here! This place is awesome! My dog loves it, and Stacey has taste and class. She opened her door late one night for me to get some pill pockets -- a freindly neighborly gesture -- and I have been a fan ever since. This is most quintessential neighborhood dog store. It is completely wonderful, and I think it is the best one in Marin.. Michael... dude... I disagree that you are hard to offend. Frankly what a bunch of BS ... Have you called CPS lately about PARENTS at Haloween, that is, tried to bring heat on parents whose kids wear blood, hatchets, zombie outfits, un-dead costumes, or ghost costumes at Haloween? If not why not? Obviously they are condoing violence to their children, right ? WTF is your argument?? Frankly, Stacey has the kind of creativity and humor and --why not?_- unconventionality that used to make Marin cool, offbeat, and better than the often dull "suburb" that it became. (I've been here more than 40 years, I know of which I speak). She's done nothing wrong and is a welcome member of our community. Get over yourself Michael. Greg read more

I like this store....it's totally cute and definitely for the upscale dog. I bought the cutest little cashmere sweater (I know, I know) for my dog Jack...he looked sooo cute! AND NOW, a year later, it's 1/2 off! I recently purchased the cutest cable knit sweater for only $22 and it's so well made.
