Doggies are separated into appropriate play groups and they are well taken care of. Alpha Dog is specific and detailed about how they care for your dog and they'll want to know everything about food, medications, preferences, etc. They kindly will send some photo updates every so often so you can see your cute dog having fun while you are away.. I'm sitting in the DFW airport after a weekend trip , the first one in a long time And my thoughts are that if not for Alpha Dog , their competence, compassion, thoroughness, professionalism and love of dogs I would not be going anywhere if I couldn't take Elvis. In fact I will only leave my Elvis at Alpha Dog for boarding. I'm not a wealthy person but the cost is irrelevant; the quality of care exceptional, and My peace of mind paramount. I can go without but I would be compromising the quality of care if I brought him elsewhere. I've done my research. Daycare is a given love but boarding is different. I would not even let a friend care for him on an overnight; only Alpha Dog. That is how exceptional this facility is. My little Elvis has been diagnosed with 2 health challenges ; both of which require medication administered a total of 5 times per day, once in the middle of the night, and that he stays warm because of one condition. They have gone above and beyond for my Elvis this weekend . He is thoroughly checked it, the staff is impeccable following instructions. In fact one of his conditions was first noticed there . I called twice a day and happily given an update, , always making time for my little check ins. I would not nor will I ever take my dog elsewhere . I trust them as much as I trust myself making decisions for my dog in an emergency. I KNOW he will get the BEST CARE . I am so grateful to amazing staff whom my dog goes crazy walking in and seeing the staff. He is fighting to get out of my arms to them and he doesn't look back. At other day cares we tried in the city he never got comfortable. But by his third day care he was excited and pulling to go in! The staff is so incredibly friendly and accommodating. We've been sending our dogs to Alphadog for years for daycare and boarding. The staff there are so friendly and are the only people other than my family that our anxious dog is at ease with. I am a local resident who began bringing my 1.5 year old Standard Poodle, Majik, for daycare a few months ago. The daycare service was great, and everyone that I had spoken with was so informative and thorough, verifying our dog's vaccination/health status. Our main focus was gaining control of the smartest (of 4) standard poodles. While we did a few sessions with recommended training professionals, Alpha Dog had been so effective for daycare, we called to inquire about daycare and training that allowed us to have him to share our beds while they did the training. It has been an incredible experience! The training manager, Samantha McCabe, set up his weekly schedule was very helpful with setting up his weekly schedule, guided us through our outdoor and in-home concerns. His primary trainer, Tiana, and Sierra, handled Majik with such care, working with him out at Crissy Field and the Mill Valley Dop Run 2x a week. After only a few sessions, we noticed an enormous (quantum leap!) increase in his responsiveness. He now comes running even if distracted by other dogs (which are his favorite). She even worked with us at the beach to show us how to continue reinforcing the training! He comes, he stops and drops mid run, which might save his life in a threatening situation. AlphaDog, I am really grateful that we thought to come to you and let you lead the way on how we gain control. They are super professional, caring, and it's obvious that they love dogs and care for each one as if it's their won. Mochi goes two days a week regularly and other days when we have meetings and can't work from home. The mornings we take her to AlphaDog, we tell her - "it's time to go to AlphaDog and see your friends" and she jumps up, runs across the room and waits at the door ready to go. This is probably a long review I should have written a few weeks ago, but I believe in giving businesses the benefit of the doubt. We boarded Basil here for about 10 days in July and opted for some training to keep him stimulated during his stay, and hopefully improve some of his loose leash walking skills. It was his first time boarding (other than the trial night) and we were notified that Basil had some issues adjusting and slight anxiety while in the crate. We were assured that this was normal for first timers and that he was improving each day. We thought nothing more of this since the report cards we were receiving mentioned that he was doing well and his training was progressing quickly. We picked up him after returning from our trip and the next day Basil had developed kennel cough. We weren't surprised, since we knew how common and frequent contracting kennel cough could be, but immediately called Alpha Dog to let them know so that they could be aware and notify other customers. Initially they denied having any kennel cough cases during Basil's stay, but after talking to the staff about his symptoms more, they admitted that they had two cases during that week but there was no way Basil could have caught it since they were in seperate yards. We found that hard to believe since it's highly infectious, but again, we knew this was a possibility when boarding him and did not not think more. We would, however, have liked more transparency about Alpha Dog having any cases with their customers, like most training/daycare places do in the Bay Area. While we notified them of Basil contracting kennel cough, my partner and I also reached out to Alpha Dog on 3 separate occasions to get feedback from their team on Basil's extended stay and the training that they completed with him. We never heard back after leaving voicemails and messages with the staff who assured us that the managers would give us a call back. It was a bit upsetting not to hear back from any of times we reached out, especially since some of the training notes mentioned that there are some items that they want to teach and review with us. Life got busy, so we put it all on the backburner, but still no outreach from anyone at AlphaDog. We were disappointed by the lack of service, feedback and communication despite paying over $1100 for his stay and training. The final straw for us though is we recently reached out to Alpha Dog to see if they can take Basil for two nights, since a friend had to pull out of watching Basil last minute. Despite our previous experience, we decided to give it one more shot, but again we received no reply to our email. My partner followed up by phone and we were told that Basil was not allowed to board with them anymore since he was anxious the last time. We were told that a manager would need to approve his stay request and that they would have them contact us shortly to discuss. Again, we heard nothing from them at all. I'll be the first to admit that Basil is not perfect, but he's well trained, socialized, happy, and a quick learner. And after repeatedly asking for feedback on multiple occasions, this is the exact kind of information we would have welcomed and worked on with him. Overall we're really disappointed in the service they provided, or lack thereof. It truly seems like they do not care for his training, improvement, or transparency with us. They don't even bother to respond to calls or emails. All this time we could have been working on his overnight stay anxiety or spent the money training him elsewhere where they provide actual feedback and results. Please consider going elsewhere. After reading some of the mixed reviews on here, I felt compelled to share as well. It seems some of the negative reviews are specific to that individual dog and their (or the owner's) experience and, while valid, color what is otherwise a well-run, friendly establishment. My 2yo pup Winston comes home happy and tired - he likely has less fun than he does on other outings because he's more of a roam on a trail or swim in the ocean kind of a dog, but he gets the stimulation and attention he craves (and again, this is his/our experience - every dog is different). Winston has been going to AD for the last year or so and we only generally go 1x/week and don't do boarding so I can only speak to that experience. They have also been a lifesaver with weekend daycare when things come up that take me away for more than a few hours - he has refuge there instead of being sad at home. Unless they're super busy (holidays, etc.) they generally make room for those types of requests, sometimes even same day. I have a small wishlist of things for them which may be helpful for others as well: 1. It would be great if there were cameras for the occasional peek in or photos shared. I've never seen the play or quiet areas there & really have no visibility into what's going on during the day which is hard 2. The parking lot is an absolute nightmare. Not much they can do about it given the real estate in that area, but having to back out of the lot onto one of the busiest roads in MV is almost always challenging & if you have to make a left from there - yikes! 3. The scheduling is a bit confusing and arduous given you have to re-confirm your schedule every quarter and if you don't, you can lose your spot. They're great about sending out communications around this, but it would be super helpful if there was a portal for booking, requests, billing, etc. All in all, we're very happy at AD and appreciate their location and super friendly team (he gets extra happy when he sees Veronica!) who always greet Winston (and me) with smiles and excitement (I don't get a treat, though...). I'm giving them 5 stars preemptively in hopes that some of the items on the list above are addressed at some point. :) read more

Our family has been using Alpha Dog for the past 4+ years. That includes daycare and overnights for up to 2 weeks. My husband and I have so much admiration and respect for the staff at Alpha Dog. They genuinely show much love and kindness to all the dogs. They are very thorough with regard to his nutrition, and his overall fitness. They will always double check as to any changes that they should be aware of. Our dog is a 11 year old, 10 lb poodle who truly seems to love going to AlphaDog. So disappointed. I have no idea what goes on when my dog is there. They don't allow you to see the yard or kennels. When he was a pup he liked it, now he fights us when we bring him there, which is rare and only for day care. He's gotten giardia there, he's come home covered in poop, recently he came home and threw up. I don't think they really care about the dogs well being, only the $$$$. The staff used to be better now they're kind of rude. Camp K9 in Corte Madera has cameras and you can see your dog being outside in the yard for one hour then inside for one hour then outside again. They rotate every hour. They have less employees but it's way better managed. The difficult part is that they have strict drop off and pick up hours which are inconvenient. Recently at Alpha it was a very hot day and supposedly they had pools. Our dog came home dry as a bone and threw up. I keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but I think we're done. Thank god our dog is not a child in daycare. Don't know what to else to say, but it's hard to trust people with your cherished family members. 0 Stars for Alpha. read more

I need to share my experience with Alpha Dog so that maybe this won't happen to some others. For the most part, the staff was nice. Sometimes felt like I was inconveniencing then by asking questions about how my dog did. Especially the front desk employees. I only started asking questions because I never got a report card at the end of my dogs stay. (Which they always claim to send out by the end of the day, and never do) The biggest problem was that I had to take my dog to the vet twice after he went to daycare at Alphadog because they gave him a bone that I did not provide. It did not sit well with him and he had stomach issues for months afterwards. I wish they would have asked me before giving it to him. Another big issue was that I was never told that the dogs wear e collars when they are in the kennels. Nor do I see that anywhere on the website. It's not that I'm against e collars, again, I just wish they would have mentioned this to me before hand. After he got sick from having that bone, I decided to give it another chance. I don't know if it was just my paranoia from him getting sick (waking up multiple times during the night with diarrhea), I felt like I noticed he couldn't wait to leave when picking up. That's why I wish I could have had any type of information about how my dog was doing during his stay. Like how much play time did he have? How long was he in the kennel? Probably not going back after finding out about the e collars though. One positive is that the price for daycare is reasonable. read more

Sierra provided me and my dog will all the skills needed. She is passionate, experienced and understanding. She provides videos and specific information after each training session which is very helpful. I could watch the progression during each training session, and through these videos I learned what techniques to use when training with my dog at home. Most importantly, Sierra teaches the owner how to be the 'handler' through in-person trainings with owner and dog.
