Since I was so hungry, I ordered more than I could handle: Famous friend green tomato burger (with added mushrooms) - oh my God for 7.15 this burger punched in so much flavors. They do tell you their burgers are red in the middle, but this made it even more delectable and juicy. The layering of pimento cheese, fried egg (yum), fried green tomato..more yum..Let me repeat fried green tomato was just a wonderful explosion in my mouth! The addition of the mushrooms was also such a great suggestion from the cashier! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned! The Texan - so so so so so good! Still prefer the fried tomato burger, but the au jus and Onion in this burger are such great additions. Bacon wrapped mac and cheese squares - if you're a fan of bacon as much as I am, you will freaking love these!! The combination of warm macaroni and bacon is a little salty yet sinfully pleasing! Wish there were more than two because I could eat this all day! Sampler (fried green tomato, pickle, onion ring) - for a little more than 4 dollars, I don't think this is worth it, but the fried green tomato and pickles are addicting. Wow, there aren't enough adjectives to explain the goodness I experienced today at lunch at Only Burger. I peeped the menu online prior to my arrival, so I already knew I wanted the Philly burger & fried pickles. Upon arriving, there was a small line of about three people, but the employee quickly got their orders & I was able to make mine. And hoorah for Boyland sodas! I got a grape one. I didn't wait but about five minutes or so & a happy employee brought my food to the table. Glorious fried pickles! They were thick & crunchy, under the delicious seasoned battered costing. The chipotle mayo was so good, too. The burger ... whoa. Think of a Philly cheesesteak as a burger. The oooohy melted cheese, yum! The burger was cooked medium well & was juicy. The bun was soft. This place is near my work place but I always resisted going there because I'm a vegetarian and only few selected burger places get the veggie burger done right. I finally thought of giving it a try today. The overall feel of the restaurant is very Indy and looks very different. Since it's an open kitchen, you can easily see that they are on par with cleanliness. Now the food, I had only one option as usual so it was an easy choice. I added a side of fries. As I expected, it was just okay and nothing special. I saw a lot of people for taking out, so probably it seems it's a good place for meat burgers but nothing special for vegetarians. If I get a frozen Patty from any retail grocery store and grill it with a piece of tomato and onion, it will be same taste. I've always gone to the location closer to me by the Durham Bull's stadium but made a drive out to this location on a Sunday night. It was a good 15-minute drive but worth it! It was just as good! In my opinion, it's the best burger in the area. The size is perfect, not overwhelming like gourmet burger joints where it's gigantic to the point where it's overkill. The bread is soft, fluffy, and strong enough to hold the burger together. The meat is cooked to perfection, which I appreciate a lot. I went with the "Carolina" burger for the first time and it was a HIT. The chili and slaw was delicious. I would eat it again! The fries were fresh with a nice crunch. Overall, this location is a lot smaller and can be hard to find seating but go before dinner hour if you want to beat the rush. I was there around 5:00 p.m. and was able to find a seat without a problem. As I ate, people came rushing in. The customer service here is just as great as the other location. Craving a burger and some fried sides, mom and I stopped by here the other night. We each got an only burger, mine with special sauce, and split an order of fries and an assortment of their fried pickles, green tomatoes, and onion rings. The burger was well done and kind of dry. The special sauce helped- but what I was expecting to be basically thousand island was actually some kind of a chipotle deal. Considering both of the sauces with the sides were also on the spicy side (chipotle ranch and something else) it kind of dominated my palate. The fries were EXACTLY like In'N'Out. Thin, starchy, fried once. Not our favorite, but if that's your thing, that's how they do them here. The fried green tomatoes and onion rings were the highlight- both hot, crispy, just how you want. The pickle slices were more like chunks though, so you couldn't exactly pop them like I want to pop fried pickle chips. So I think some slack is in order. My burger was juicy, flavorful, and tasty. The bun was toasted and held together. The fried green tomato and egg were cooked to perfection. What and excellent way to start my trip through Durham. I will be back. Also side note for my fellow Yelpers. If you are a vegetarian or vegan. The first time I tried it, we were waiting in a ridiculously long line at a food truck rodeo to try their burgers. Food: I ordered the Greek, which is a lamb burger with olive tapenade, feta, onions, lettuce, and tomato. You order at the counter when you first walk in and they ask how you want your burger cooked. Our food came relatively quickly (~5 minutes) and was handed to us wrapped in foil and placed inside a brown bag with napkins. The burger was pretty tender, but could use some more lamb flavor. The feta cheese was deliciously creamy along with the tzatziki sauce. The tapenade provided most of the flavor. Other reviewers have mentioned that the buns are soggy. I didn't notice anything wrong with mine but my friend also brought up that complaint. The interior is surprisingly small with mainly 2 person tables. Grilled bun, crunchy iceberg lettuce, tomato and flavorful veggie patty. I was super impressed! The only advice I can give is this: the burgers are made to order so it can take 10 minutes or so before yours is ready. If you are at the Sam's parking lot, order your food then go find beer. "Good intermediate-scale burgers, from a truck or restaurant" Pros: Good burger (not amazing/ huge, but you're not paying for amazing/ huge) Appropriate pricing Veggie & turkey options THICK onion rings w/ good batter Cons: Bun is sopping wet (!?) I've had Only Burger both from the truck and most recently from the new brick & mortar restaurant. The burger meat is good- not amazing (certainly not as good as the new Bull City Burger place, and probably not even as good as Red Robin), but solid and a step up from most fast food. Price is appropriate for such intermediate-scale burgers- ~$5 for a regular single-patty burger (WITHOUT a side- another reviewer claimed that price was with a side). Note that it's not huge- probably at or maybe just under a quarter pound. The burgers come standard with ketchup, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onions, etc., and mayonnaise is a free addition if you want it. You can pay extra to get things like guacamole, or pay about $2 more to have a lamb burger (though that may be a special). Both veggie and turkey burgers are available, too. The one awkwardness, which may come from the burger being juicy, is that the bun always comes sopping wet (Tara noted this as well). Part of the problem is they wrap them in aluminum foil, making everything totally wet inside, especially if you do takeout or use the truck. They really need to splurge here, even if raising the price by 25 cents. Onion rings cost ~$2.50, and fries are ~$1.50. The onion rings are great if you really like onion- the slices are HUGE, so you can actually taste something besides the batter (which is also good). The fries are very thin-cut and alright. Service is pretty quick. Seating is definitely crowded- few tables, so snag a table early. Or do takeout, but maybe then bring your own bun. Overall, it's a decent intermediate between fast food burgers (e.g., CookOut) and "fancier" burger places, both in price and quality. read more

As a Durham-ite, I felt a little left out with all the community voting craze that went on recently when OB was a contender for the Great American Food Truck Race reality show. If not THE best burger in the Triangle, it's certainly among my absolute favorites. I've eaten at their truck numerous times, but on a whim, my pals and I decided to dinner at the brick and mortar shop tonight. OMG! Better than the truck! It is a burger with fried green tomato, egg, and pimento cheese. There are some free add-ons you can include such as grilled onions (which I opted for), jalapeño, and more. Because this place is really popular, it can really fill up fast. Only Burger has a small menu with everything on it being delicious! The food is very scrumptious! Only Burger specializes in burgers. Although burgers may sound really simple, Only Burger prepares burgers in a way that elevates the amount of flavor the burger has. I got a burger with just lettuce and ketchup. Only Burger also makes more complex burgers like Swiss cheese and mushroom, or even their breakfast burger with eggs and pimento cheese in it. Only Burger not only makes mouthwatering burgers, but they also make amazing sides too. The choices they offered were fries and onion rings. Both of them were delicious. The fries were freshly made to order and were hot! The fries were so good; we even decided to buy a second batch of fries. The onion rings were also very satisfying, but what made them even better was the dipping sauce that came with it. If you are having trouble choosing between the two side orders, then get both! Only Burger is definitely a trip worth making if you're in the Durham area and looking for pasture-raised beef. My fiancé and I arrived around 6pm and were a bit disappointed at the very crammed area they provide for an eat-in areas. There weren't enough tables and chairs to go around for the amount of business they were receiving. Anyway, my fiancé ordered the Baja Burger ($7.50) with chili cheese fries and I ordered The Texan ($7.90) with a side of pickle chips. It was about a seven minute wait for this order on a busy Friday evening. But... HOLY COW my burger was awesome. The brisket patty combined with the beef patty, onion rings, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and their famous chili mayo was seriously a flavorful explosion. Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had. No exaggeration. I've tried Bull City Burger countless times and although they're good, I do not think they're as great as Only Burger. My husband and I were looking for a good burger place in our city of Durham & by God we found it. The cashier who I can only assume was the owner was incredibly friendly and patient. We ordered two double burgers that had just about every topping on the menu ( mine had age extra sharp cheddar, bacon, grilled onion, guacamole, Dijon, lettuce, tomato and pickles. My husband got the same minus the tomato but adding jalapeños, ranch and chipotle sauce). Along with the mammoth burgers we got onions rings, fries and bacon wrapped Mac & cheese. Our food came out in ten minutes. Everything was AMAZING! The onion rings were outrageously crispy and came with delicious chipotle ranch. The fries were fresh, crispy and not oily in the least. Everything was clearly house made and delectable. The people who are complaining about price clearly aren't on the market for the fresh, local and utterly delicious offerings of only burger or are extremely provincial and should stick to cook out trays. My new favorite place to get a burger in Durham!! My bf got the Carolina Burger and i got two lamb sliders. We also ordered a side of onion rings and french fries. Ordering was easy and friendly. The place is relatively small and crowded, but it cleared up quickly after we ordered and were able to sit inside. It looked like the owner was working in the kitchen. While waiting for our food he consistently said "bye and thanks for coming" to almost every customer. Even this simple expression shows that they care about their business, customers, and food. Much appreciated! We got our food eventually.. wrapped in foil the Carolina Burger looked PACKED with goodness. dripping with sauce and deliciousness. My two sliders were very small... i knew they were sliders, but after opening up the foil it kind of just looked drab... almost white castle-like. However, the taste... WAS AMAZING. the sauce on the side.. WOW. Don't let the look of their burgers fool you. They are definitely full of flavor, PERFECTLY COOKED PINK, and very moist. I'm not sure where they get their bread, but I think they should try and upgrade that somehow. Or perhaps it was deliberate. The bread is more like a soft biscuit rather than a bun. When I went to pick up my order, one of the cooks and one of the servers were wearing their masks below their nose.... which is about as effective as wearing no mask at all.
