I decided to order the $15 Bowl of Coconut Rice with the choice of three toppings and a sauce. I went with okra, pumpkin, and stir-fried mushrooms.with a side of mango chutney (Photo 9). It was a delightfully housemade melange of Caribbean-style flavors. I've had similar West Indian food before, and this was definitely one of the fresher executions. Just all around, great chicken. Both of the sauces were delicious too and I'd recommend them. The tender sauce is creamy and has a hint of tartness but I loved it. Great with the chicken. The sides were both very tasty too. The hush puppies were light and crispy. Still a bit sweet too. Exactly like I wanted them. The egg roll was a tad bit stale but still tasty. You choose an appetizer, entree and pop for a set price. What is great an unique is that it isn't just the typical egg roll or soup choices. You can choose spare ribs, crab rangoon, french fries, tofu and even a cucumber salad! The entree choices are pretty standard for combo meals (things like sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, general Tso etc). You can call ahead for your order or order when you get there. The seating area is pretty large with a variety of options, but it is pretty clear that most people choose to take out rather than dine in. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was curious about what the smashed cucumber salad was exactly (there are so many things it could have been) so they showed me a picture and got the list of ingredients. I ordered a ma po tofu and a smashed cucumber salad. I wish I could have gotten the tofu entree as part of a combo, but I understand that they have to limit those choices. The portion of the tofu was generous, but I will say, I was disappointed in the cucumbers. They were delicious and I'd absolutely order them again, but it was on the expensive side (almost $9) for a bowl of what was probably two cucumbers cut up plus some sauce. That being said, I'm glad it was offered because it is a lighter option in comparison to the mostly fried items on the menu. The great thing about the tofu is that it maintained some of its firmness. There also weren't any napkins out, and when we received our pizza, we weren't given plates, forks, or any other utensils... so we basically had to eat it as-is straight off the warm pizza pan. I understand that busy weekends can stretch any restaurant thin, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because of everything happening around downtown that day.
