    Blue crab.

I was in the area and they were in the area so I stopped by. I came when they were nearly closing so they only had blue crab and spicy tuna. I enjoyed both a lot!! They don't skimp on the filling and everything about the onigiri is moist and flavorful. Each one comes with a lightened wasabi sauce. Seriously so good. Tony is so sweet and welcoming. I want to come back here!!

I happened to be in the area, and finally was able to cross off Onigiri Time off my list. I got the blue crab with kewpie mayo, teriyaki chicken, and spicy tuna onigiri. My favorite off the 3 was definitely the blue crab. Something about it just felt so luxurious to eat and enjoy. Onigiri will range from $8 to $11 each, and before you say anything please note that these onigiri are HUGE! They're colorful, come with the wasabi sauce, and are so delicious. Also that wasabi sauce was so good. It was perfectly tart like how you expect wasabi to be, but wasn't so intensely/nasally spicy (if that makes any sense) when you consume it. Tony was also super easy and nice to talk to. I highly recommend trying out Onigiri Time when you're in the Pasadena area!

A wonderful takeaway package encompasses a Japanese-style rice ball filled with delicious ingredients, packed with traditional flavors. Most excited for the availability of Onigiri, especially from a cart; this is a must-try for everyone. Items are fresh and packaged slightly warm. Sized generously, each can be a meal on its own. Unfortunately, the flavors available always get me to order at least a couple. The inspiration is awesome, and the owner has a level of excitement that will probably turn into a cult following. I am hoping the flavors expand and the value continues. (Hint: Smoked Salmon, Salted Cod/Salmon, or possibly an Egg alternative)

Awesome!!!!!l love the attitude and positivity of the owner. He is very passionate about his business and pleasing the customers . Hands out umbrellas if you're in the sun while you make your selection and is always glad to meet and greet new customers. I finally decided to try the Blue crab and spicy tuna onigiri and it was hands down delicious, flavorful, and I definitely loved the creamy wasabi sauce. I will definitely be going back , it's a quick bite to grab eat stall and his prices are perfect for the serving size , quality and product.

I prefer my onigiri to have filling and rice in every bite and the ones here get full points for that. Two onigiris from here will get a hungry person full and I believe they are reasonably priced. My favorites are the blue crab and teriyaki chicken, though there were some shell bits in the blue crab. I finished all the creamy wasabi sauce that came with the onigiris. They paired so well together! They're definitely my favorite onigiri place in the area.

Blue Crab... it's huge! Little bigger than the palm of my hand.

Yay Tony's approachable & welcoming. Chill pop up vibe. Come early. He starts to sell out at 12:30/1pm DM on instagram to pre-order. I got the blue crab & spam onigiri comes with wasabi cream sauce too. Absolutely worth the drive from South Bay, LA!!!! Delicious flavor & texture.

Fan of rice? Fan of yummy fillings? Go! This little cart parked on E Colorado Blvd is serving some amazing onigiri! Tony was so nice and hospitable. He literally asked everyone for their name and asked them where they came from. I love that he's shocked that so many of us are willing to travel from an hour away just to try his craft. You can tell these rice balls are made fresh, packed with flavorful fillings, and that special wasabi cream sauce is like no other. Such a good combination. We tried almost all the flavors, but my absolute favorite was the blue crab and the special which was spicy tuna (changed monthly). If you're in the area, or not, come try this place if you're a fan of onigiris. For the weight, the rice to filling ratio, I feel they are reasonably priced. I am already looking forward to my next blue crab onigiri from Onigiri Time. Keep up the great work Tony!

Been hearing a lot about this spot so I had to check it out myself. It's located on Colorado between Mentor and Catalina next to CAR. It's a small cart but you'll usually see a line, which is always a good sign. I've tried the spicy tuna, blue crab, and spam kewpie so far. My favorite is definitely the blue crab since they use real crab. The onigiris here are huge too, not like the small ones you usually get. These are thick and super filling. I also love the mix of purple and white rice, it reminds me of those fat onigiris Tanjiro be eating in the anime lol. The wasabi "dank" sauce is really good. I liked it so much I grabbed a bottle to take home and throw on other foods. Tony the owner is super cool. He asks for your name and actually remembers it the next time which I thought was a nice touch. He even hands out umbrellas so people can get some shade while waiting in line. You can follow them on IG to check their schedule, but be warned they do sell out sometimes. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

I finally had a chance to try this viral onigiri! We live so close but just never had a chance to make it out there. Luckily my husband was able to bring one home for me and it definitely traveled well! I will say I thought these would be larger but that could just be the videos I've seen on social media. They extended their spicy tuna so hubby was able to snag one for me. He mentioned how helpful the staff was. I've seen the cute stand while driving so I'll definitely have to go next time so I can see it in person. I did enjoy the purple rice and also really loved the rice to filling ratio. Pretty good onigiri but pretty pricey for how small it is. Would love to see some traditional onigiri flavors like kombu (my fave) or umeboshi. Can't wait to go back to try more!

Tony is the nicest guy even gives you a sun umbrella for the shade. Stood in line next to a Steven Spielberg look alike : D cool small food cart for yummy rice treats ! Brought home the chicken and the spicy tuna . Well ... I tried to but then the food just disappeared into my stomach. This is a hearty dish with purple and white rice. Makes you feel east coast and bay area with less big city vibes outdoor setup is quaint with a beautiful breeze and the California sunshine.

Simple food cart, unforgettable flavor. We got 2 blue crabs, and the sauce absolutely stole the show -- rich, bold, and perfectly balanced. One of those spots that proves you don't need a fancy restaurant for amazing food. Highly recommend if you're in town! The owner is super nice :)

I may be speaking for myself but I think we've all dealt with those sad, mass produced onigiris that are basically a giant block of rice with a microscopic molecule of fish hidden somewhere in the center, but this place actually respects the craft. The onigiri here are huge, and the filling-to-rice ratio is spot-on. You get a mouthful of the good stuff with every bite. The presentation is satisfying, and the whole experience feels high-quality. I tried the Spam, Blue Crab and the Teriyaki Chicken, and let's just say the former is the power couple I never knew I needed in my life. The blue crab was incredibly tender and flavorful. The spam was salty in the best way. I added their wasabi sauce, which was a pleasant surprise. Instead of that nose-burning, sinus-clearing paste that makes you regret your life choices, this was a mild and creamy sauce. it added a smooth little kick that paired perfectly with both flavors without being overpowering. The service is amazing and friendly. Honestly, the fillings are so well-seasoned and tender that you don't even need much sauce to enjoy the meal thoroughly, but the creamy wasabi definitely adds a nice touch. The Teriyaki Chicken was solid, but that Blue Crab and Spam combo is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the menu for me. If you're in Pasadena and looking for a quick, solid, and satisfying bite that actually delivers on its promises, it's officially Onigiri Time. I'm already planning my return trip to see what else they can pack into a giant ball of rice.

I've passed this cart a few times, but was never hungry when I did. Then my friend told me she saw the cart on social media, so I had to give it a try. Tony was so nice and friendly! I got the blue crab onigiri. It was delicious and I got really full. I'd say it's almost equivalent to two regular sized onigiris. I'm not a wasabi fan, but I gave the wasabi cream sauce a try. I personally didn't care for it. The cart was cute and in the shade. It's located close to Artisanal Goods. Parking can be a little tricky because of street parking. I'd definitely go back!

Ambiance is super cute, love the little flags over the sushi/shabu bar and the art on the walls adds to the Japanese restaurant feel. The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. They offer to explain your order when it arrives which is great for those newer to sushi or just trying something different. Seriously, some of those fish practically melt in your mouth. I personally haven't ordered any rolls yet but they absolutely look delicious. If you're looking for a good sushi date spot, this. is. it. It's also good for a small group, maybe up to five or so before you feel cramped. Shabu is seated at the bar and their meats and veggie are delicious and fresh, enhanced by the tasty broth. It's even good on a summer day because they have solid air conditioning. Cannot say enough good things about Osawa. Go try it for yourself. :)

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

My partner and I shared the rainbow roll, mango cha cha roll, lemon salmon roll, salmon bento box, and cheese bulgogi. I really enjoyed the creative specialty sushi rolls, with my favorite roll being the mango cha cha roll. It tasted savory from the crispy shrimp tempura, while the fresh mango on top added a nice, refreshing pop of sweetness. As for the lemon salmon roll, it tasted fresh and more citrus-forward. Surprisingly, the salmon bento box was very filling and balanced. This included 2 pieces of grilled teriyaki salmon, 4 pieces of California roll, mixed tempura, miso soup, and a small salad with dressing. For anyone who does not eat raw fish, this would be the perfect dish. For the cheese bulgogi, there was a sweet-savory soy garlic flavor. I liked that the meat was thinly sliced, which paired perfectly with the gooey melted cheese. However, it was a bit saltier than I'd like it to be. Some rice and miso soup was served alongside this to balance out the richness from the cheese. Service could have been better. It seems that the staff were not very attentive at times, even though the place was not busy. Nonetheless, all of the food was pretty good and there was a chill atmosphere. This is a solid sushi bar to visit for either lunch or dinner.

The fish here is incredibly fresh, but can we talk about the rice? Because that's what truly makes or breaks sushi. It was so flavorful, had the perfect hint of vinegar, and the texture was spot on, not too mushy, not too hard. A few highlights from our night: * The Rolls: They are huge! Seriously, they're long enough that you could easily share one between two people. * Lemon Roll: Absolutely awesome and so refreshing. * Yellowtail Hand Roll: Fantastic quality. * Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice: A total must-try. Highly, highly recommend ordering this! Beyond the food, the vibe inside is great--very lively with that bright, clean Japanese restaurant feel. The service was also absolutely impeccable from start to finish. For parking: Just park in the nearby street garage. It's only $1 for the first 90 minutes, which is a total steal for Old Town Pasadena. Love this place, we will definitely be back!

Supposedly there are Sushi Enya locations closer to where I reside on the west side, but I love Old Pas and the ambiance and quality of food here did not disappoint. The highlights of our meal were the Super Chirashi--which came with literally all of our favorite fish including a small spoonful of sweet uni and some extremely yummy tamago--the Cherry Blossom roll (a riceless Enya Special Roll, which means a dramatic presentation!) and the red snapper nigiri aka madai (served with yuzu paste and lemon juice). Although my husband felt that the amaebi was slightly slimy and wished that they served the hot sake in a way that kept the drink warm (you're probably wondering how I managed to survive his critical standards--you and me both!), everything else did not miss a beat. We noticed other customers were enjoying the omakase--the premium at the bar is $250 pp and the "lower" tier table omakase is $185 pp. everything looked delicious but I am also a control freak and enjoy being able to select what I want. With that perspective, the chirashi really was the way to go for me (and next time I'll just add on another order of uni!). In the end, Sushi Enya may not end up being our go-to omakase, if only because their other offerings are so good! Fresh fish, tasty sushi rice and tempura, and attentive and efficient waitstaff. 5/5 stars easy!
