Really nice farmer's market in a nice setting with the San Gabriel mountains as a backdrop. Avocados and lots of winter citrus. Herbs, lettuce, flowers, bread, fish, honey ...all kinds of things it is January! I'm sure it must be amazing in the summer. Easy street parking.

Wow! What a great and laidback farmers' market. I purchased beautiful beets and daikon from my old favorite from my teaching days when we took field trips out to Underwood Family Farms. I got some Vegan Kim Chee from Dave's sweetened with pear juice, and decadent croissants from a very crowded Melrose Bakery. I added the new members to my food forest! Fig, Blueberry, Pom and Pom, Mulberry and Blackberry trees purchased from Mario with the help of Matthew and Tony! All in all such a produce-tive Saturday!

I'm envious of folks with access to year-round farmers market - in Boston, they don't start opening up well into the warmer months and the pick of the produce at supermarkets in winter/early spring feels a lot like scraping at the bottom of the barrel. Someone recommended checking out a farmers market while we were in LA and I chose this one in the hopes of snagging a box of Harry's strawberries. Alas, we couldn't find any Harry's, despite seeing a truck with the logo on the side parked in the middle of the market. We did see other berries/fruits vendors selling these ginormous strawberries (seriously, I've never seen such a size) and I regret not buying a box to try it out, even though we were leaving the next day. Pleasant to walk around and sample stuff from the vendors. We got a whole 16oz jar of coconut cracked almond butter for $25 from Sue's Butters & Baskets without realizing it exceeded the TSA fluid limit (and yes, nut butters do count as fluids because they're "spreadable," sigh). So the absurdity of it all is we ended up spending an extra $30 to check a suitcase just for transporting this almond butter when, if you go on their website, they ship it for $17. Anyway. This almond butter may have been worth it. Bring your own bag(s)! We didn't have any issues finding parking later in the morning but it was a little bit of a squeeze to get in and out of the parking lot.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning to drive to the Pasadena Farmers Market. This is a great farmers market. Today I bought a dozen brown eggs $6, 6 large bagels $8, salsa & pico de Gallo $7 each and some freshly roasted peanuts $5. The large bag of peanuts were still hot and they tasted delicious and they had a nice sweetness.

On a Saturday morning in December, I found parking on the street at 8:10am. It was not too crowded. Lots of tents selling fruit and vegetables, honey, plants, and food items. The largest tent I seen was the Underwood farms. My sister bought their sriracha sauce bottle and vegetables. It's a nice place to buy fresh items and fun to people watch.

Maybe I am biased but I LOVE this farmers market. It's hard to pick a favorite but this one is up there. It has everything: fruits, veggies, fresh eggs, honey, almond butters, cut flowers, potted plants/trees, fresh orange juice, fresh seafood, tamales, hummus and spreads, so much fresh bread and pastries, dried fruit and nuts, olive and avocado oils, mushrooms, fresh herbs, cheeses, fresh tamales... If anything I wish they had more homemade items/crafts like candles, soaps or jewelry but they make up for it in everything else. My favorite is Bills Bees Honey ($9 for small jar), Sue's Butters coconut almond butter (omg this is LIFE CHANGING!!! $15 for small jar, $25 for large), and all of the fruit veggie stands. All of the vendors are so friendly and helpful and typically offer samples (especially if seasonal fresh fruit), and the crowd is always respectful. Grounds are always clean.

[Time]: Every Saturday starting at 8:30 AM and ends at 12:30 PM at Victory Park (right next to Pasadena High School) & Victory Park Farmers' Market has been around since 1984. [Size]: About 50+ vendors and couple noticeable vendors include kimchi, plants, etc. There's only one shared entrance/exit point and I could tell this is quite a popular farmers market in this neighborhood. I did not see a roasted oven for the peanut booth here. [Parking]: There's a free parking lot for the farmers market, but the lot is shared with Pasadena High School and some of spots are taken by high schoolers due to school session on Saturday. I had trouble getting out of the lot when some high schoolers got out of their session at 11:30 AM. [Atmosphere]: Not as hip and modern as Mar Vista Farmers Market and there's not much to do in this part of the neighborhood outside of farmers market. It's not the best nor the worst farmers market you'll find in LA. There's nothing unique that makes this farmers market stand out from others. P.S. - No pets are allowed with the exception of service dogs.

My favorite farmers market! Bring your wagons, carts, and bags to lug your haul back home. So many vendors offer scrumptious samples. I'm a huge fan of the fresh baked goods, the ripe fruits, and seasonal veggies. I really can't go back to grocery store fruits after shopping here. Sometimes we grab some fresh fish or some tamales. I like to bring cash to make my purchases easy and stay in my budget. Some vendors take Venmo. Today, we purchase gnocchi and pesto sauce to make some dinner. It was superb. We also purchased a jalapeño cheddar sourdough to make tuna melts for lunch. Don't be intimidated by the parking lot, people are constantly coming and going and you will be able to find a spot amongst that maze.

Fresh produce in Pasadena, California... Mainland people are so lucky! The fruits taste so much better (in California) than when they get shipped to Hawaii. Plums, peaches, boysenberries, nectarines, cherries, etc. are sweet as candy! Keep in mind that mainland fruits are shipped to the Aloha State when they are green... So, when I went to the Pasadena Farmer's Market, I was amazed. (Hawaiian Farmer's Markets have papaya, mango, lychee, mountain apple, and other tropical fruits.) There are "fancy" fruits in Los Angeles such as white nectarines, donut peaches, and Mango nectarines available...AND...there are samples of the fresh fruits so you can taste the difference! We parked about a half a block away from Pasadena High School where this Saturday morning Farmer's Market is located. All of the vendors were neatly organized and helpfully friendly! I wouldn't mind returning! And - when you come, remember to bring a shopping bag or two! There are plants, cut flowers, veggies, and more here!

I just love farmers markets and this was my first time at the Pasadena one! I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of vendors. I picked up fresh vegetables, hummus, garlic sourdough and some tamales.

As for the food vendors... I haven tried too many other than the tamale guy. He sells them for 3-50 and 6 for 17.00. Needless to say I had to buy the value. It made a good lunch the next day. The masa is decent and the tamale is larger than the average. I liked the pork one. I tried beef and pork. It had softer mass which means more lard. It it was good. It is not like the place I go to in ela or El Monte but good for the convenience. I have gone twice here and last night there was another new tamale guy. I didn't try his, only the guy from ingle wood. I also went to the Mediterranean place from Monrovia. 10.00 for a salad, not bad I tried all the combo meat lamb chicken. The shaved ice will be the hit during the summer months. I saw a place that sold grilled whole squid which I thought was interesting. I wouldn't buy it myself personally but I mentioned it to my coworker and she told me she loves it that way. She pays 8.00 and is only 6.00 at the farmers market. They definitely have a variety of vendors and attractions for kids. Come out and support the farmers market if you have time. It is nice to have something in the city.

And it's very family friendly - they even have games like a giant Connect Four and bean bag toss! I have to say I was just a tad surprised at the size - the name "night market" gave me visions of something like the 626 market - but this is much smaller so just be aware. But I think that's a good thing - much smaller crowds and more local sellers! There was even a DJ playing fun, energetic music. There are several rows of booths offering all sorts of fun items - jewelry, ceramics, art, crafts, foods and treats- even Halloween items! There was also even a Henna artist. They had several food booths as well - tacos and pizzas, bubble tea and a lovely fruit booth that even had açaí bowls! Yum!! Two rows of small nic nacks you can buy ranging from jewelry to essential oils. There was a small food section that had Korean bbq, Mexican food and pizza. We opted to try the Korean BBQ from GOCHU Gang. It was very delicious! You can definitely smell it from afar. The only thing was they didn't have their prices or what's on the menu listed on a stand. They did say they had a online menu but there is no posts with a QR code. So we just blindly ordered essentially and asked what they recommended. There were a few stands with dessert such as the cookies from Crackle n Puff and crepes. I do wish the night market was bigger. There weren't many things to see and the stands that were there were very selective. Night markets are usually more successful when there is a variety of stands. Overall, it was cute and small. If you're into a small and free night markets, it would be a cute night out. We spent about a little over an hour there. Just don't have super high expectations like the large night markets.
