So I know when she provides information and answers a question her information is correct. Also, appreciate that she has a professional, polite demeanor and always gets back me very quickly.  She has taken the time to review my insurance and told me about discount I didn't know about and how to apply. Thank you Deb!!

My State Farm agent couldn't do anything to help after over 15 years of having insurance with them. My brother told me to call his agent Rose. After explaining the problem to her she calmed me down and took my information and explained the process to me of how she was going to try to get me insurance .Over the next few days I called her with a lot of questions , all of which I got a lot of good good answers to. I don't know how she did it but she got me insurance with better coverage for less money and I didn't get hammered for my claim. Rose treated me like I was the most important person to her and that getting me good insurance was priority for her. I did not know I could go to Ulster Savings for my auto and home insurance but I am Glad I did. Thank you Ulster Savings for having a such a great employee when I needed someone to help me and be kind and understanding. Thank you Rose WOW

Rose at ulster savings is very personable and pleasant to work with,…read more hence the second star. Otherwise, ulster savings (beyond just the financial institution of offering a savings and checking account , is not, in my experience, able to keep up with customer requests and find suitable insurance companies for its consumers. Customer support (even though in the moment it is very personable) is sporadic and ineffective. Trying to get our home insurance not to mention business insurance, was a ridiculously convoluted exercise in redundant paperwork, emails and phone calls. INFORMATION REQUESTED OF US FROM THE STERLING INSURANCE COMPANY "We" understand questions like; "Do you have a fireplace?" "is it an insert....?" questions of that nature. However, please explain how the layman customer is expected to answer questions like: "Describe in detail the construction of the wall behind the stove...." "what is the diameter of the thimble...." "is brick placed over sheet rock or other material....?" and finally your asked "to draw a picture "showing the placement of the stove in the room illustrating the clearance between it and the space in the walls....." "Is there an airspace behind the wall next to the brick" Ridiculous. These are just a few of the questions, the list goes on. The next issue, unarguably the most notable FAIL with this process. Our application clearly indicated that we were seasonal residence, 2 months out of each year and the rest of the time our home was to be used as a short term rental. Written in and signed by me and the banks representative..... is this property used as a short term rental? YES. Nope, the new insurance company did NOT have our home listed as a short term rental because the communication from our agent to whatever other employee that was involved in the process did not relay that information. This means the application must not have been sent. No part of that is acceptable.....if something had happened, we would have NOT been covered and potentially ended up in a very very difficult situation. Not acceptable. How we learned about this? The Sterling insurance company sent out an inspector (the necessity of a company to have to put eyes on the property is also understandable) However, in the process of visiting the property the inspector talked with one of our guests and then relayed his confusion as to "why the house was being rented out", back to our broker who then relayed her concern to me.....I then expressed my concern reminding them that the house has always been a short term rental. Our agent confirmed that our paperwork was originally signed as a short term and that somehow that information never made it into the policy. So, in the overly complicated process of onboarding our account information for the insurance company, the simple task and responsibility of our agents/Ulster Savings, relaying our signed application over to that company never happened TOTALLY exposing our family to a potential insurance nightmare if someone had gotten hurt. When we relayed this information to Steve G. the branch manager via email, we got crickets in response to the specific nature of the issue. Nothing, no response. Made a call to one of their competitors, had paperwork filled out over the phone, no laborious questions and paperwork needing to be filled out, paid the year in advance and in less than 30 minutes (if that) and with that we had our new insurance. DONE. Simple.

If you have an elderly relative using ulster, get them to move their banking. After my mother…read morepassed, I discovered Ulster has the worst estate care I've dealt with. It took me 1.5 hours on the phone and several escalations to admit that, yes, anyone (including the estate) could pay my mother's mortgage. Ulster requires an original death certificate and original letters testamentary to get an estate to take control of a deceased relative's accounts. If you've ever tried to get an original death certificate from NY, you'll know that it can take months. Wells Fargo and Champlain Bank only require copies, and that seems to be the standard. Ulster throws up barriers at every step when trying to deal with an estate. It only makes the process of wrapping up a relative's estate more difficult and upsetting. It's a rare day that I'll say that Wells Fargo is better than anyone, but they are better than Ulster.

Being first-time home buyers, we didn't know what to expect. There is a lot of stigma around mortgages and banks, and not having ever been customers of KeyBank we really were going in blind! We expected a joyless, uncomfortable experience and prepared for it...imagine our surprise when we walked into our appointment and met an upbeat, friendly person like Susan! Susan is always smiling, very personable, and extremely knowledgeable. We felt comfortable with her immediately after our introductions, she is a people person and she really has a mind for numbers. She answered every single question we had, even sometimes twice when we forgot the answer, but she never was upset about it thankfully! Susan worked with us to figure out a good price range we could afford, explained everything involved in a mortgage from soup to nuts, and put them in terms we found easy to understand without ever making us feel dumb about it! She also worked closely with our realtor from the time we got the pre-approval, and she was in touch with him and our real estate attorney during every step throughout the buying process to make sure we were all on the same page. We don't know how she managed to juggle all of that, but she did! The whole process could have been long and painful, but thanks to Susan's hard work it wasn't! She is a real class act, and was always available by phone, text or email whenever we had a question or needed advice. She worked her magic to make sure we got the best mortgage product for us, at a good rate and she even surprised us by coming to closing with a little housewarming gift! We wanted to jump up and give her a hug, but at the closing table we might have looked silly... Susan is an all-around rock star, she worked so hard for us and really made the whole mortgage process as stress-free as possible. We would recommend her to absolutely anyone in the Hudson Valley who is looking into KeyBank for mortgage options - I only wish there was a Susan at every bank!

Transferred to Shoshanna, who was so condescending and rude that I was at a loss for words and hung up before getting anywhere. This woman spoke to me as if I had called the bank to get free money, accused me of being irresponsible and "not keeping track of my own balance" and didn't seem to have any useful information to provide. Definitely switching banks after a series of horrible customer service experiences here. Shoshanna should not be permitted to speak with clients on the phone, or should receive training to at least attempt to disguise her callousness and impatience. Unprofessional and a really poor reflection of company values. Where does a lower-middle class person with 4 jobs and a Masters Degree turn for financial guidance?? Not here, obviously.
