One Saigon is right near my work and has become a regular lunch spot. The first time I visited, I ordered two chicken fresh salad rolls. These tasted fresh but were very light on the chicken - I'm not sure that I'd order them again. The baguettes, however, are fantastic. I've tried the chicken and pork and both are delicious - very fresh baguettes, lots of salad, coriander and some jalapeno - and much more generous with the meats. I like this place for it's fast dinners. I come here when I don't feel like cooking and they've got some very decent daily specials. I especially like the weekends when you can get lemongrass chicken and spring rolls for 7.50! The place itself is quite small and doesn't look like it's been cleaned up nicely, but the food there is decent. One thing though, the spring rolls are smaller than many other pho places. That's slightly disappointing, especially since on my first time there I ordered spring rolls as a side. Plus, the pho isn't as good a place like Thai Son, but for something that's close by, it fixes a craving quickly. I'll stick to their dry noodles and their baguettes. read more

Light and airy baguette, I have never eaten a bahn mi with such light and airy baguette, like they somehow found a puffy baguette. I can see if you are really hungry, one would not fill you up, however, they put in decent portion of meat and veggies with a little heat. I have had the BBQ chicken and the marinated pork (think it's Vietnamese style pork) and it's good! I really like the fact that it's very authentic, most light and airy baguette I have ever had and I eat a lot of them in NorCal. The spring will while good, had too much noodles. So now that I'm in love with pho, I'm always on the lookout for new places to try. It's hard when you work downtown though - there are only 2 or 3 places. I saw this place and decided to check it out and I was happy that I walked the couple of extra blocks. The menu is basic and easy to understand. The prices are reasonable. And the food was not bad at all. I ordered the Beef Pho and a side of salad roles. The items were delivered quite quickly! My request for extra lime was granted and that made me happy too. I'm no expert but I felt like the soup had very little MSG - this is a good thing. I think I'll go back, perhaps on a cold winter day. This place isn't much to look at (seriously, it's kinda ugly), but the food tastes good! I had the special - lemongrass chicken and spring rolls on vermicelli noodles - and it was fantastic for the price of $7.90+tax. I came with a party of five and everyone enjoyed the food. This place really deserves its 3.5 stars. I use to come here more often a few years ago and the food tasted better and had decent portions. I came here a few days ago and had their lemongrass chicken daily special $8.50. It was not the same presentation as I remembered and portions were much smaller. The chicken was the worst I'd had. It tasted soso and was not fresh and the skin was not crispy like it's suppose to be. Besides that, prices also increased by a bit. I love coming here for their specials. Their Thursday and weekend specials, 2 banh mis (baguettes) and lemongrass chicken with spring rolls respectively, are my favourites. Caution, the spring rolls are on the smaller side for the weekend special. I usually only order take out from here. Highly recommended to call in to place your order in advance especially during lunch hours. It's a rather small restaurant so sometimes it's rather crowded or impossible to get a seat during peak hours. There's a line of Japanese and other restaurants around One Saigon. When I was passing by, this place had a line up out the door. I asked a fellow what was so good and he recommended the baguettes. The clerk recommended the beef baguette specifically, and boy, was it tasty! Fresh bread. Great pâté and fresh vegetables. The prices were also really good for downtown. I can see why they're so popular with the lunch crowd. After I finished, I actually had a craving for more. I went back to try the Pho. I was tempted by the baguettes but on a cold day, Pho seemed appropriate. The soup was bland. It was a reasonable Pho. If you had a craving though, it would just barely satisfy you. For those with dietary restrictions, the beef pho uses a beef based soup. The chicken and seafood pho use a chicken based soup. My husband doesn't eat beef so we always ask. The service was quick. Even if you are waiting at the door, it won't take that long for your food to come. Again, great prices throughout the week. It should be a lunch staple for those who work around there. read more

I work right near here and On Saigon is an office favorite. It's a great price, and they have daily specials everyday that will fill you up at lunch time for a reasonable price and taste. I am a big fan of the beef pho, but I am also not an expert at Vietnamese food. What I can say, is for someone who eats Vietnamese only occasionally, I love this place. Delicious food, clean restaurant, and really quick service, and definitely a great place for lunch in the law courts neighborhood. read more

The staff are not the friendliest, service not the best... but the beef pho with basil and bean sprouts doused in sriracha is pretty heavenly. I also love the spring rolls, but the watery sauce they give you to dip doesn't do the trick for me. I end up asking for the sweet and sour sauce (stashed in the back) which is sweeter, thicker and tastier! One thing that is always good is their Vietnamese iced coffees. Don't forget to order one! One thing I hate is that whenever I go there, my entire outfit and hair smells of the place. Not good when going back to work! Yikes, gotta take a shower and wash the hair if I'm heading out for the evening.... Can't help that, only running in and getting take out will help the stench but then you're wasting all the plastic containers... So I just end up smelling and eating in. read more

I decided on one Saigon since I enjoy the "mom and pop" feeling and didn't really want a sit down style restaurant. The beef stew pho was very good. Broth was on point and beef was tender. This place is not good at all and the appetizing pictures they have on the menu and front signs are so deceiving. For about 8.50 total, I tried their daily special papaya shrimp salad and there was no papaya and maybe one or two pieces of shrimp. Originally wanting to try the organic sushi shop next door, we came here, when we realized it was closed. It's not a big place with a few tables for seating, you order and pay at the counter, and then the food comes out. They have a daily special but I didn't take advantage of it since it wasn't something I wanted to have, but I ended up getting some of their salad rolls. I was disappointed nor did I rejoice but it filled me up enough to go and enjoy a movie at the theatre around the corner. The only thing that I found "interesting" was going to the washrooms there. (By interesting, I mean more like strange) You do enter their seriously tiny kitchen, and then open a door that pops you out into another hallway, and then a shared one in this building. I'll have to say that, I'd come back if in a pinch, the food was ok, it was reasonable in price but it definitely didn't enter my top 15 Vietnamese joints by any means. read more

There was so much MSG that I found it difficult to finish my noodles, never mind have more than two sips of the broth. Tried One Saigon as it was close to the Sheraton . Small but bright and clean. Spring rolls were very good but the pork salad rolls were disappointing. I was expecting the pork to be tasty grilled pork but instead it was some sort of strange deli meat . Not very flavourful at all. The Beef soup was however one of the best I've had. Top quality beef and delicate and delicious broth . Typically I would have taken away a star for the salad rolls but the other foods made up for it. The food here is consistent with the price. You get what you pay for. BY FAR the best thing on the menu is the chicken pho. I have it at least once a week... everything else is pretty standard fare for take away pho. I have to agree with some of the other reviews, and say that the young girl that works there, is definately rude... but if you can stand the 10 seconds of interaction with her, the soup is definately worth it. i come here for one thing and one thing only: fantastic, under $5 Vietnamese chicken subs. The chicken is crispy, the roll is crusty and the julienned mix of daikon, carrot and cucumber topped with cilantro hits the spot. A squeeze of the hot sauce on the table and I'm good to go. They even have a two-for-$7.50 special on Thursdays if you're dining a deux. Service is brisk and the place fills fast at lunchtime, so you'll have trouble bringing in a stroller or suitcase. read more
