Pho Do Bien (rice noodle soup w/ prawns, crab, and squid)
    Dana S.

I will preface this review by saying I've only had their vegetarian and seafood dishes, so I can't speak to the quality of the meat. That being said, I love this place for a warm bowl of pho or noodles. Just pure comfort food. Quality is consistently good, and the portion sizes are large (the small sizes are very filling to me) and fairly priced. They give you lots of protein and vegetables in relation to the noodles, and a good assortment of vegetables. Everything seems fresh, in particular the Shrimp Salad Rolls are so good for this reason, just the quality ingredients is enough to make these fantastic without dredging them in sauce (although they do come with dipping sauce which is of course a nice finishing touch). Yes, there is oil in the soup broth, but I honestly don't find it to be too oily, and I'm usually sensitive to oil. The complimentary tea is very nice too, and their special drinks are definitely worth a try. The service is fine. They take your order at your table but you go to the counter when you're ready to pay, and the staff will pretty much leave you alone after they bring your food out unless you make an effort to get their attention. They're really polite though, and it's not hard to get them to come to your table if you need something.

Yummy food. Friendly professional service. This is a neighbourhood go to. Authentic dishes and casual atmosphere.

Came here for a quick dinner and I was impressed with the service as they were friendly and speedy. I ordered a specialty dish called "bun bo Hue," (a type of noodles originating from northern Vietnam), spring rolls, and a durian smoothie. The durian smoothie was somewhat diluted - although the durian flavour and scent were there, it wasn't enough to make me think I'm drinking a durian smoothie. And it was diluted compares to the other vIet places. The spring rolls were a bit dry for my liking and the shell was a bit tough. I was excited to eat bun bo Hue as it's one of my favourite noodle dishes. It came out pipping hot, and again, the specific bun bo Hue taste fell short. To me, it tasted like a photo base with red colouring and instant bun bo Hue flavour packet.

Tried the Bun Bo Hue (hot and spicy noodles in soup with beef flank, chicken ball, pork ham) and the small size ($13.75) was the right portion for me. I have a mild tolerance but it wasn't spicy for me. I didn't think it was special and found it to be too oily. My friend ordered a small Pho Bo Kho (beef stew with rice noodles in soup) for the same price. *Update: the soup left a stain on my pants so be mindful!

    * This is the review for their Hu Tiu* Best hu tiu Nam Vang I have had so far, outside of Vietnam. It's very authentic and delicious. They even have proper herbs/veggies to go with the dish. The staff was very tentative and friendly. They were so nice to let us choose the table and served the hot tea when it was so cold outside. Highly recommend this place and I will come back for sure!

Love this spot for some warm hearty pho!! Pho japolo has amazing bun bo hue and the broth is so rich and fragrant! I love coming here whenever I'm near the area and I have had their takeout which is still delicious! The proportions are so generous and totally fair with the pricing !

    House Special Noodle Soup ($13.25)

Do my weekly grocery shopping in this area every week and finally decided to try out this spot after passing by it on my way to Persian foods from the 99 stop. Honestly the outside never made it look too appealing but I had tried the other stuff in the area, and needed to give this a chance. The service wasn't amazing but I was surprised by the quality of the dish. I ordered the House Special Noodle Soup ($13.25) which came with a couple cuts of beef brisket and other various meats in a broth with green onion and vermicelli noodles. It also came with a side of mint, bean sprouts, and very slightly hot pepper. Although it wasn't much in terms of presentation or taste, for the price I was paying it was a pretty good deal for the amount I got. I don't really have many complaints aside from a pretty basic noodle soup dish. I would come here as a safe pick in the area as I've had bad experiences with the Indian place across the street. Although I wouldn't seek this place out, it's a light 4 in my heart. Would be willing to come back to try something else on the menu again.

Great pho, fresh ingredients and very tasty. The rolls were very good as well. They also have Singha beer, which I have never found in Quebec so I was so happy to drink it again.

I tried the Vietnamese submarines and they were awesome! Great Asian food! I would defiantly recommend this restaurant!

    $6.50 veggie salad rolls
    Darryl P.

Had the $6.50 veggie salad rolls for take out. No menu option for tofu or avocado... just salad roll. About a 5 minute wait and rolls were ready. When I opened the bag to retrieve my rolls I found a napkin which was appreciated but also found chopsticks which was odd. The rolls yielded average portion size. Veggie ingredients had a slight hint of acidity. Overall average tasting rolls with a good balance of flavours. The peanut sauce needs work as it lacks depth and peanut flavour. The veggie contents frequently fell out of the roll after taking bites. You can get your salad roll fix at Pho Japolo but when comparing to neighboring options... indicators such as value, taste and selection suffered. Neutral 3 out of 5 stars Ingredients: Rice roll, lettuce, carrots, rice noodles

    C. H.

It was some average tasting Vietnamese food. I ordered the #75 and it was alright. I prefer the deep fried spring rolls in the traditional rice wrapper, but these ones were made in wheat wrappers. The filling was good. The pork was grilled nicely. I took a sip of the house special pho broth and it was a tad on the saltier side. There was an okay amount of meat in the house special. Ambiance is actually above average compared to most Vietnamese restaurants. Service was fast.

Regular photo soup base was bland and can tell it wasn't hours of making the base. The beef stew soup tasted odd, but hefty amount of beef. How can you mess up a salad roll wrapped spring roll? By adding tonkatsu sauce and aioli on it. Pho was always a simplistic comfort food. Never again...

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.
