I get between 5 - 7 massages a year and I've been to at least a dozen different therapists over the last 5+ years. I bought a Groupon to see Ruben for his 90 minute special. I used the groupon a couple months ago and was very impressed. While I prefer a shower after a massage Ruben uses a warm cloth instead, which was fine. I didn't leave greasy at all. I like deep tissue so that is what I asked for. Ruben easily found my trouble spots and worked my muscles hard. The massage was a 10+ as I left not only relaxed but exhausted. I got the best night sleep in a long time after that massage. If I could, I'd have Ruben work me over every evening. Aside from the great massage, his office is nicely done. Ruben is professional, the office atmosphere was soothing and he played good music during my session. Since I had a few trouble spots he paid extra attention to those areas and actually went over the 90 minutes. Booking on his website is very easy and his pricing is very reasonable. I recently purchased a groupon for one good massage. This is located by the beach in office suites. I will say a little tricky to find. When you walk in theirs a small waiting room a bathroom and the massage room. This is not a actual spa.( There is only 1 massage room so if you and your friend want to get a massage together you can get it back to back but not the same time.) Let me start off by saying Ruben was soooo nice and professional he asked the right questions and made sure we were both on the same page. The massage room was nicely decorated and had a relaxing ambiance feel to it. The massage itself was okay he made sure to check in with the pressure a couple of times and every time pressure was good and how I like it firm. He made sure to focus on the areas we discussed and at the end of the massage used a hot towel to make sure I didn't leave greasy. I know what your thinking.... it's his style of massage it just wasn't for me. I am a massage therapist myself and I know how sometimes the client likes or expects their massage a certain way. WOW, just WOW - Rubin is an excellent massage therapist! I've been getting sports massages for over 20 years and I must say Rubin is definitely one of the very best. He's knowledgeable and strong, but the thing that most impresses me is that he also consistent! I've started off with good massages from other therapist and over time, the quality fades, not with Rubin - he listens each and every time and I get the massage I need for what's ailing me. Ruben is awesome! I have tried sooooo many Massage Therapists since living in Cali these last 4 years and none have them have been very good. Either they are too noisy, the room is too bright, or the therapist just doesn't really do a good job. Maybe I'm a little picky being an esthetician and having been trained to do swedish massage and also having worked in a spa and had my coworkers massage me. Ruben, however, really impressed me. I didn't have to tell him to use more pressure bc it was already perfect. I didn't have to tell him to get certain spots because he could feel the knots and knew what to do. He was very in tune with my needs and worked out quite a few spasms, some that I didn't even know I had. It's impossible to say anything bad about Ruben and his practice. When my favorite therapist left my previous haunt, I was on the hunt for someone new. I tried various day spas, smaller massage therapy practices, and membership places, and was unimpressed until I found Ruben. WOW!! I have never had a massage in my life because I wasn't sure how I felt about it and never really had the time or desire to pay for one. I am in the military and all the strenuous training takes a major toll on our bodies. I have been having recent more severe back and shoulder pain causing horrible sleep. Ruben has definitely converted me into a fan of massage therapy! I felt so relaxed and I could actually feel some of my tight built up tension releasing within just the first 10 minutes! He worked out knots I wasn't even aware of because they were so tight. The room was very clean with a welcoming ambiance. The time went by so fast and it only left me wanting more!
