A great bar. The owners and staff are good people. Bill, is one of the Hardest working bartenders you'll ever meet. My buddies and I go there regularly to watch sports. Multiple flat screens so you won't miss a game. If you like cold beers and hot wings on a football Sunday you won't be disappointed. If you're a NY Red Bulls fan then this is your spot as it's the only official Red Bulls bar on Long Island. You'll find me there for all away games. They have live bands, karaoke and open mike nights. What more can you ask for! If you're in the nabe check it out.

Im not going to say anything that this place isnt, but if you are waiting for a table next door at Popei's, it's worth walking in here to grab a drink. The place is almost completely redone inside, and me, my sister, and her husband were rather surprised with it. We spoke to the owner, or one of the owners, not sure if it's just him or if he has partners, seemed like a nice guy. Told us about what they redid inside, how quickly they did it, (6 days, i'll give it to em for getting it done so quickly), etc etc. Look, would I go here for the night and get hammered, probably not.. I almost hate to say that considering how nice the guy behind the bar (owner) was, but the next time i'm waiting for a table next door, i'll gladly grab a drink, or two, or maybe a $10 bucket of shots...

I came here last week for an event, and got to enjoy basically a tasting menu of sorts…read more This menu took Indian flavors on a seriously fun ride. From rich and smoky to spicy, tangy, creamy, and refreshing. Banjara Tikka brought tender chicken thighs layered with yogurt, fried onion and garlic. Mauryaji Basket Chaat delivered chickpeas, potato, tamarind, mint, pomegranate and a creamy yogurt mousse. The Chicken Seekh Kebab was perfectly seasoned and savory with pickled laccha onion, while the Guntur Chilli Chicken Bao turned up the heat with Guntur red chili, sesame and refreshing beetroot shikanji shots. The vegetarian dishes absolutely held their own as well. Chilli Momo with carrot, sesame and seaweed, came out with a soft, delicate bite and a subtle chew, filled with a lightly spiced vegetable mix that leaned savory and aromatic rather than overpowering heat. The Paneer Makhni was rich, velvety, and deeply comforting. The paneer stayed soft and pillowy, soaking up a buttery tomato-cashew gravy that was slightly sweet, gently tangy, and finished with that unmistakable fenugreek aroma that tied everything together. The mains were just as unforgettable. Laal Maas came in bold and unapologetic. Tender goat slow-cooked until it practically melted off the bone, swimming in a deep, smoky gravy built on mathania chilies that brought slow heat. The Shrimp Malai Curry was the complete opposite in tone. Silky coconut milk wrapped around plump tiger shrimp, with Bengali whole spices adding a gentle sweetness and aromatic depth that made the dish feel light yet indulgent at the same time. And somehow dessert still had room to impress. Rose Kulfi was creamy, floral and sweet without being overwhelming. Drinks included everything from the floral, mezcal-and-rooza Gulabo to Mango Lassi. And as someone who historically doesn't like anything rose flavored, I enjoyed both the drink AND the dessert. Just as good as the food, was the service. It is definitely a spot that should not be missed.

Really not a great experience overall and I definitely don't see us going back which is sad because…read moreI had been wanting to go here for a few months now. The service was terrible. One person running the whole room who was the host, bartender, busboy and waiter so we were definitely being patient throughout the night as the service was slow. We received our spicy chicken appetizer before any water. But that wasn't even my biggest issue. Main problem was the amount of times we heard the word "no." No to wanting to sit in a booth (only 2 other tables sitting at the time). He told us there was a reservation for the booth that had no one ever show up for. The whole dinning room only had 2 other tables that were occupied the whole time we were there. And we were there till almost 10:00 pm. He said "no" to ordering a drink without the mezcal in it. He said no to adjusting spice level of the biryani from mild to medium. And I couldn't keep up after that but the no's kept coming. It was on the later side, my daughter was hungry so we just stuck with it unfortunately. Food was mediocre. Some good items some worse. The chicken biriyani had way too much masala on the bottom. The ratio was off completely between the rice and chicken. The firey chicken appetizer was good. The chicken tikka masala entrée came out wayyyy too spicy. And my husband loves spicy but he was literally sweating through the meal. The waiter did offer to change it but at that point we wanted to just finish and leave. He did give us 3 of the rose kulfie's to compensate for the u reasonably spicy chicken, which was the best part of the whole meal. The shrimp in my daughter's noodles were overcooked but the noodles were ok. Sadly this was our anniversary dinner. Such a disappointment! We should have gone to Baijaan like we were originally planning to!

As a touring drag queen, I've toured 5 countries, 71 cities, and done my little show 99 times…read morenow... Three of them have been at NuBar, and I'm coming back this Monday night to celebrate my 100th show! Why NuBar? Because when I search Google Maps for gay bars, whether it's in Iceland or down South, I'm always shocked by the stark lack of LGBTQ venues in the state of New Jersey, or anywhere on Long Island. Sure, there's Fire Island. But not everyone who wants a drag show has the time, money, or whatever to leave town, hop a ferry, and make a whole night of it. Why can't LGBTQ spaces happen -- right down the block from where we live? When I first booked a show here, Chris made sure I knew the place was a little smaller than what I might be used to. Sure, there's not a proper stage or a lighting grid or a smoke machine. But that's what you go to Fire Island for, right? At NuBar, I'm always welcomed so enthusiastically by the staff, and hey there must be a need in the area of LGBTQ spaces, because we always get such a good turnout. And not for nothing, but I've entertained all kinds of audiences (can you believe I actually got Germans to laugh in Berlin???) but when I think of NuBar, I always remember a really warm, friendly, authentic group of people who appreciate the vibe. Thank you guys for bringing drag and LGBTQ visibility where it's needed -- right here in your own community! :) I've never not had a good time at NuBar. I can't wait to come see you guys again! --Honey LaBronx

And it smelled like absolute a$$.

I admit it, I love the skin! We ordered a bucket of 8 pieces, and chose mac and cheese and cole slaw. We also ordered a side of jalapeno corn bread. There's really no good news here. The chicken was so dry inside, we couldn't eat it and thrw out all 8 pieces. The mac and cheese wasn't terrible, but I've certainly had better. It too was dry, and was basically one big piece of mac and cheese. The cole slaw was..... interesting. It was an odd pinkish color (red cabbage?) with really no sauce that I could find. Alibi is currently running a Harry Potter pop up, and if you know anything about me, you will know I am a HUGE fan. The Alibi was decorated beautifully and there were two really cute Photo Ops by "Platform 9 3/4" and the Wand Shop. Come here for the drinks! The Hufflepuff was bourbon forward and reminded me of an Old Fashioned which further confirmed that is truly my house. It also came with an edible golden snitch. The server pointed it out before I gave them what I thought to be decor. I popped the chocolate golden snitch in my mouth after being directed to take the wrapping off first. We then did butterbeer shots and I can't even begin to tell you how delish they were...dangerously delicious. Food was had and it wasn't anything to write about but I'll try. Queso dip is made in house, which I respect. Loaded potato wontons were a great idea and were probably the best things on the table. You can't go wrong with pretzel nuggets. Chocolate cake is never a bad idea. I ended my visit with a chocolate frog drink. Very similar to an espresso martini. You know how hot they are right now. It came with a an actual chocolate frog which was nice. Finally one of the staff members came over to help us play Bertie Botts and we all picked a jellybean. I got lemon. Some of us got soap and warwax. So fun! It was so good, we are going to try to snag another rez for trivia. Reservations are for 90 minute seatings. You pay $15 for a ticket but you get a souvenir cup with your ticket. Not mad about this because the cup is actually decent and will be used. Their next pop up will be "Slime Time". Slime is not my thing but maybe you'll see me at the other pop ups.
