Decided to drive out and try out this awesome restaurant! Amazingly enough Joy herself took our orders, that was so cool! Parking outside the place was easy and the decorations were all very pretty and rustic. The seats were all comfy too. As far as the food goes I had the vegan field roast tomatoes panini. It was delicious especially cause I asked for Joys famous basil pesto! Overall an amazing place to relax and have a great meal! read more

Really thought this place sounded good by all the reviews so we stopped on our way to Oregon. Cute place with a varied menu but lacking in some areas. I ordered the veggie sandwich and it was tasty, only the bread was so thin it immediately fell apart in my hands and the side of chips was literally 4 chips. My wife's order was not correct when we got our food but it was remedied and she enjoyed it and her 5 chips. We saw a couple salads go by and they looked awesome. read more

Hidden gem off of I-5 in Chehalis! Yelped up some lunch options on the way to Bellingham today, and Once Upon A Thyme was highly-rated, for good reason! We received a warm welcome and the woman behind the register was knowledgeable about every item. We were even offered a taste of their daily soups. I had a hard time deciding and eventually landed on the brisket sandwich, got a half with their special salad. The sando. Was. Delicious! House smoked brisket was tender, melted provolone cheese, BBQ sauce, carmelized onions and garlic. Wowza! I also got their blueberry hibiscus iced tea. The handful of potato chips were thick cut and crunchy crunchy crunchy! The special salad was pineapple, strawberry and cabbage with sliced almonds. Yum! I topped that off with a square of oatmeal cake that came with sweet shredded coconut frosting. And got a slice of chocolate raspberry tart with an almond crust, so it was GF, which I enjoyed this evening. I got to meet Joy, the owner briefly - a lovely woman. We wanted to stop by somewhere for lunch on our way back home to Frederickson and found this place as an option. We decided to give it a try due to its great reviews. A lady named Lynn took our order and she was soo sweet. She offered my toddler and I a sample of their special chicken salad with cranberries. It was so good that we ordered the Special and it came as a croissant sandwich. We also ordered a chicken pesto sandwich. What a gem! I needed a place to spend a few hours to nosh on something and do some work while my brother was having a chemotherapy appointment at Providence. I would have stayed with him, but he kicked me out cuz it was getting really cramped in the 4-patients-to-a-room situation. We were warmly greeted and received our food quickly. We had an excellent piece of strawberry chocolate ganache cake. I had the french dip and my wife had the chicken pesto. We sampled both and agreed they were equally excellent! Watching the clientele, it appeared to be a popular spot amongst locals and many appeared to receive warm welcomes! We've always liked this restaurant. And we always get the chicken Caesar wrap. The last time we got it, it wasn't as good. We gave it one more chance on Dec 22. And yet again, it wasn't good. I'm not sure if it's someone else making the Caesar dressing or if the recipe has changed. It's just bland. It tasted more like mayo with pepper than Caesar. Bummer. read more

My dad got a meatloaf sandwich, something he loves... said it was so so, I tried a bite and I thought it was good, maybe just more herbs than he is use to. Maybe at 95, you get set in your taste buds. I dunno. Great tea choices too. Nice little shop in back. Raw honey and some Made in China kitchen fair. I didn't look at everything though. My biggest complaint is the credit card surcharge. If we knew we would have paid cash. I understand credit card companies charge to use this service which is another topic in itself and it costs business in one sense, in another it also helps business. I also know a few places have this up charge and all I would suggest is prior knowledge. If I missed it; my bad, but it also means it wasn't obvious. We we're driving down the highway, and it was lunchtime. Being unfamiliar with the area (We're from AK) i had to rely on Yelp Reviews to guide my choice of lunch venue. 5 stars, with 188 reviews was good enough to turn the car round and drive back 3 or 4 miles. The ambiance of the place is sheer delight. Warm and cosy - this space is lined with antiques and bric a brac, but not in a cluttered way - it's a welcoming way. There's an area at the back devoted to the sale of jarred goods like local honey and homemade jam, marinara sauces, and pasta noodles, along with some candy, even some crockery for sale. The menu is extensive, and tempting. Hard to know what to pick, but i knew what i was having, even when i saw it online, whilst driving down the Highway. Curried Smoked Chicken Sandwich had my name on it. As they offered a half sandwich and soup option, and there was a butternut squash and apple soup, i chose that and my husband got the Caribbean. To say i was thrilled was an understatement. In England (I'm English btw) we would call this Coronation Chicken Sandwich, I've always loved it, despite not really knowing why it was called that. It's not readily available in AK, but there is one cafe that has it. It is VASTLY underrated as a sandwich in my opinion. I had mine on Rye, with the literal freshest and crispest salad leaf I've eaten lately (barring the ons freshly picked from own garden of course) the central spine of the leaf still had that satisfying crunch, that helps you date that salad leaf to the hour it was cut. This tasted like a freshly harvested salad leaf to me. And the coronation chicken was so delicious. Creamy, liberally jeweled with chicken, and nicely tasting of curry. The rye bread was so fresh it could barely stand up to the onslaught of delicious filling liberally heaped upon it's triangular surface, however i managed, i managed very well indeed. And the Butternut Squash and Apple soup was delightful, savoury yet sweet at the same time. It's not a creamy soup, but it's a blended soup so there are no lumps. It was well seasoned and flavourful, redolent of Fall Flavours, and heartily warming. ENough to line my ribs with for sure. Husband seemed very happy with his Caribbean. He tried my soup, and was hinting for a taste of my half-sandwich. No way! You are not Sir! If i came back down here, and was in the Chehalis area, i would for sure get this Smoked Curried Chicken sandwich again, it's something i will not stop thinking about when i go back to AK. Absolutely wonderful place, and there seemed a lot of locals coming in too, who knew what they wanted without a lengthy consultation of the menu. I hope i get to return here! read more
