Once Upon A Child is a convenient way to buy and sell gently used children's clothing, books, and toys. I sold 10 items for $16.25. The items included brand names like GAP, Nike, and character themes like Naruto, so the store will resell my items for $8 - $14 a piece. Instead of selling them to OUAC for chump change, I could've listed my items for sale on eBay and made more money but decided to avoid the hassle. read more

BE CAREFUL THIS PLACE IS MONEY HUNGRY This is the WORST Once Upon a Child EVERRRRRRR!!!!!!! I don't recommend this place for the following reasons. My husband and I brought a bin of clothes and a gently used bassinet as well as a swing. I was told 98% of our items were rejected because they were outdated and not from 2024, in addition to it being faded. Let's not forget it took me 1:30 mins round trip to travel here and once you arrive they want you to wait 1 hour so they can investigate the clothes. In my opinion there not going over everything, they take what they liked!. Let's get into it!!!First of all... we used the bassinet and swing maybe once or twice. We brought both of them this year so I would like to know where you figured it wasn't a recent purchase from 2024/ dated. The clothes were also gently used. Our baby wore them a few times. They only accepted 5 items and wanted to give me $5. Do you ladies think I'm on drugs? You have lost your mind!!!!! I gave them at least $350 worth of clothes and they deny it and want to give me $5? I would never!! Give me my things, and carry on! They looked like they wanted me to give them the clothes so they can sell it even tho it wasn't good enough. This place is a RED FLAG something non ethical is definitely going on in here. Also as I browsed the store there were several items that were badly worn out, over priced, and dirty. I took a bunch of nice coats and sweaters from good brands like North Face, DKNY, Old Navy, and GAP -- plus some shoes and a few other clothes. They only took the coats and shoes, and honestly, they were in great condition! Some were barely even worn. In total, they took about 20 items and offered me $25... like, seriously?! I'd rather donate them to a shelter where kids actually need them. The guy who helped me was nice, but it honestly felt like he just wanted to get rid of me. Buying - I come here often as they have a solid selection of shoes, books, toys and clothes. I even buy MY shoes here sometimes (I can fit into girls size 3+). There's a pretty large range of quality as most thrift stores, but I can always find some good picks here. Selling - it was my first time today, the check-in and text process was easier than expected... and they were FAST (turnaround time for 3 full bins was about 40min despite lots of people in the queue). Sold 77 things for almost $100. Probably took about 1/3 of what I brought, which I thought was reasonable. I will always be coming here until I no longer need clothes for the boys. This is a great buy for secondhand! I have zero problems with buying from here. I only sell here if I am already in route to a donation location after. They do not pay you a lot for items, nor do they take a lot of your clothes. They have a large selection, so I can see them not taking everything from everyone that attempts to sell. I would say If you are going to sell- have a back up plan if they don't take all the clothes. I personally do not buy cheap brands from this store. I do not buy SHEIN, Walmart, etc. I can already buy those cheap. I look for my expensive brands or brands I may not have heard of. I think it's really knowing what to buy from my secondhand stores. THIS IS FOR THE HOWELL, NJ STORE!!! I went to donate some old clothes and some items that had a few newer pieces that still had tags and I called and asked if I could bring heavy winter coats because it's spring time and I wasn't sure the girl told me yes I brought it all in and they said it would take about half an hour the store was not busy at all there were maybe three customers and I waited like an hour I didn't want to look at anything in the store so I waited at the books the three girls who inspected my donated clothes just stared at me and didn't tell me that they were done in the half hour that they said and guess what they gave me back all the winter jackets. For all my clothes I think I was given $20 it was a lot of shirts, shorts, shoes. I don't expect to ever go back again due to the rude girls. read more

Selling- This is a place that totally depends on who is reviewing your stuff. I've sold here twice. The first time, I had a great experience and a great pay-out with almost all the clothes I brought in taken. My second time was the exact opposite, which was shocking to me because my second lot of clothing had a lot more stuff that was never worn and included more designer items. They also said they didn't take things because of the quality or season. I had three Halloween outfits included... it's September, how is that not seasonal? Super disappointed. read more

I happened to see this store, and the name of it intrigued me so I had to check it out with my granddaughters in mind. It's a second hand store and I saw some people walking out with toys. I was so impressed with the store I had to give a review and I'm going to post the website on my facebook. They don't have a very large toy section, BUT their clothing was amazing. Everything is so well organized by size it's very easy to find the section you need. They have newborn on up. Some things are new, hair accessories, sippy cups and even some toys. They have a ton of winter items, from coats to boots. Strollers, play pens, play sets, etc. if you're looking for 2nd hand items for your child this is the place to check out. I've been coming here for years. For a long time this was my go to spot for buying clothes for a variety of reasons. But I agree with many here, they have often overlooked very good clothing for not so great reasons. And I say that only because I have personally purchased worse clothes than what I'm selling. Now I'm an intelligent person I get that it could be an abundance of inventory but no that's not always the case. I think the workers either need better training on clothing or something has to give. There won't be much ROI for the franchise if you keep getting bad Reviews. I've also seen signs of needing inventory yet still get turned away. The worst was getting some second hand toys for my kids as presents, only to open it and it was broken!? Mind boggling. Great place to buy cheap clothes, toys, shoes, books, etc for your kids. We should of came here earlier. I've heard great things about this place from friends who sold their kid's items. The place is very organized and we found it easy to find exactly what we needed. Everything is sorted by gender and size with spacious aisles so you don't need to worry about bumping into other customers. Of course, all items are used but they only sell good condition items. Brought them nine large Tupperware containers full of clothes. Most of which were only worn for a very short amount of time. As my daughter grew really quick during her childhood. They require you to wash everything before you come. Spent nearly $100 in detergent. Dropped off all of the containers. Only to come back and find that they just wanted to buy two containers worth of stuff. For which they paid me just enough to cover my detergent cost for washing all of the clothes. A complete waste of time. You know they are already going to sell it at a super discounted rate. And are only going to pay you 30% of what they estimate that to be. Literally around $.30 per garment. This place will be a complete waste of your time if you bring clothes to drop off. And they will not even take most of what you bring. Do a yard sale instead. Donate the rest to Goodwill. I brought clothes that were literally worn once and some not at all because my baby can only wear 100% cotton. They found something wrong with almost everything I brought even though it was new or worn once! One of the items they say was faded except it wasn't, that was the color I bought it! I don't think people that are looking for bargain clothes are going to skip a really cute outfit because they think it looks faded! They only took 6 pieces and gave me $5! I tried to have them keep the money because it wasn't even about the money, but they wouldn't. They said I had to take my 6 items back if I won't take the money. Consignment shop that sells children's clothes, toys, shoes, and accessories. I cannot comment on selling items to the store because I've never done so. However, I have gone in here many times to buy shoes and clothes for my babygirl. It's a consignment shop so don't walk in there having these high expectations because again, it's a consignment shop, not Macy's or Lord and Taylor. Be ready to really sort through the items and weed out the good stuff from the not so good stuff. As far as pricing is concerned- I think most of it is fair but I've found some name brand items way overpriced for being "used" when I can just go to Marshall's to TJ Max and get the same outfit for the same price "new with tags." I found some really cute Nikes, Jordan's, and Vans here. Kids grow so fast so I hate to pay full price for something they are only going to wear for a month. read more

Thrift stores are awesome, kids thrift stores with clothing items starting at a $1 and up are fantastic! I dig sifting through other peoples junk. Whether it be yard sales, rummage, army & navy, flea markets or plain old vintage gear. Someone else's junk is someone else's treasure. And what better way to kill some time between appointments or errands. This kid thrift shop has it all. Clothing, foot wear, furniture, toys, games, books and tons of other random items . They have a great selection of affordable gently used clothes and toys, which look brand new. We sold gently used and unused new baby and toddler clothes, an umbrella stroller, a booster seat, pack and play, bicycle and other toys here. Some of the baby or toddler's clothes are designer clothes, which were never worn or worn once. Toys must have all their parts. You can verify on Internet you have all the necessary pieces. I just visited your store today. I own and operate a small auction company and run into new children's clothing quite a bit. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with hellos and smiles/ The manager and a worker helped me unload a few cartons from my car as I had injured my shoulder. I went right to the counter signed in and was informed that I would receive a call in 30 minutes. Well 10 minutes later my phone rang (I was still in the parking lot) I went back in given a price and was paid...SIMPLE!! To those complaining about prices that the store pays I say what do you expect?? If a store is selling an item for $5.00 you are not going to receive $3.00 there are such thing as overhead and profit margins!! Apparently they only take 30 containers per day. Its a huge waste of time. Just trying to reduce waste and not have to throw out or donate everything. Not that impressed. It was my 3rd time selling. I take a lot of time going though the clothes I bring to sell . Making sure no stains and everything is clean. Outfits were all put together, sets matched and they barely purchase any of the items. As, I browsed the store I saw clothes that had stains and smelled. THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE. The associates were lovely and super helpful, but the store manager was so nasty. I bought 177 books at this store for my classroom with my own money, put them all in a box that a young man in the back room gave me, and refused to let me use my teacher discount. Then after I left, KATRINA, the DISRESPECTFUL, DEMEANING store manager sent another employee out after me to retrieve the "stolen boxes" after I was already in my car. When confronted, she lied and said the sales associate ran out of the store into the parking lot on his own. When I told her she should be embarrassed of her ridiculous behavior, she said I could keep them - as a gesture even though I didn't have permission. So I returned the one tote to the store, being the adult in the situation. I asked for the owners number and email (only to find out later that the # was actually the store's and the email was fake). Then as I was leaving, the same sales associate came back out to the parking lot AGAIN to say then needed the cardboard box. SERIOUSLY?! This time when I went to confront her, she had taken a break and was unavailable. So I returned the cardboard box, because it's not the employees fault - they're just following INSANE orders, and I didn't want them to get in trouble with this woman. She had previously belittled several employees about pricing items & not knowing how to delete transactions on the computer, as well as having a should-be-private conversation about timeliness with a young female employee in front of her peers and other customers. This is a great store! Everything is neat, clean, and organized. They have a wonderful assortment of clothes, books, toys, apparel , etc. This is not your typical "consignment closet." The store is rather large, and they have clothing for kids all ages. The staff is very nice and accessible. Many of their clothing items are brand new, with the original tags still on them. New clothes, for a fraction of the price! You can't go wrong. One staff person (Laura) was very helpful with finding me exactly what I needed! She was immediately able to identify and find items and clothing styles I was looking for. Her customer service was on point, and with people like that working there I can easily see why the store was filled with customers! I went in with clothes that were worn once by my newborn, stain-free, up to date and clean...they wouldn't take them! Some clothes even had tags on them and they "passed" On the item. They do have a large selection of kids clothing, toys and gear if you like to "thrift Shop". A lot of clothes they passed on were in much better condition than what they had on their shelves. I recently tried to sell four new, never used seasonal items. I returned to the store only to be offered $6.83 for everything. Three of the items had original tags on them And were over 20$ A piece. When you buy it is ok but they insult you when you try to sell. The shoes i wanted to sell were barely or not used and they offered me 1$, the toys and walker were not accepted ( for various reasons according to them) they do not accept white toys, one spot on the coat. I always bring my clothes and some of my kids toys in here to sell and always get a great deal! I'm never disappointed in what they buy. Yes they don't buy everything, they have a detailed list of what they look for and how much they'll buy for, there is no shock. I love to shop in the store when it's not busy, so usually during the week, so I can take my time and look. My favorite is when they did a Facebook live buy, can't wait for them to do another one. I'm not sure about the policy of taking clothing in. They turned down brand new clothing with tags. (Timberland and Mudd) The clothing they were selling for 14-16 year old's were out dated and stretched out, my stuff was better. I couldn't find anything I liked to buy. Went to sell some items today and I was very happy with OUAC-Edison. I took equipment and clothes and they took a good amount of items. While they were buying my stuff, I browsed the store and they have really good deals. They have a lot of clothes! While I do think some tees and pants should be priced lower, the dresses are priced pretty low. They have a lot of brands of dresses that I love: Gap, Gymboree, Carter's, Ralph Lauren, and many more. OUAC also has really low prices on toys. Lots of toys are under $10 and they come with all the pieces. The employees there are also very nice. While I was there, I noticed how busy they get and they still helped me out. They were working non-stop trying to put out their recently received items. I definitely will be going back.
