On top of that, he immediately assumed I was old and overweight simply because I asked if they could adjust a blazer that was a little snug under the arms. That kind of response is completely unprofessional and made it feel like they didn't even want my business or to take the time to help me. My experience was very unprofessional and extremely rude. I brought two articles in for alterations. A gentleman, whom I refer to as the store manager, translated my requests to the seamstress downstairs. I then returned to the main showroom, and the owner quoted me a price. I picked up the items without the chance to try them on due to scheduling constraints, and later that day, I found the alterations to be unprofessional and not in line with the price I was charged. I was leaving for vacation and could not address it immediately. Upon my return, I showed the store manager my concerns and asked how we could rectify the situation. He advised me to speak with the owner, who was unavailable, and to come back in a week. A week later the owner still wasn't there. The store manager suggested I call the owner, and I asked if he could call him while I was there. He mentioned he doesn't always answer his calls. I said, so why would he answer a call from a number he's not familiar with? In the meantime, I took the two pieces to another tailor to see what could be done to make them wearable. After months of many visits, I reiterated that the work done did not reflect what I paid for and requested a refund. The store manager asked to see the pieces again, I explained that what was done could have been done by me, and he responded, "so why didn't you do it yourself?" I then stated I wanted a refund so I could take them to a proper tailor. He called the seamstress, and they spoke in Spanish about possible fixes. He explained she could complete the additional alterations, and I could pick them up on Thursday, with later delays pushing pickup to Saturday. We came to this establishment in July 2025 to have 3 custom suits made (2 men & 1 Toddler) for our destination wedding in October 2025. The owner was initially nice, seemed very knowledgeable & experience. He was very confident in the selling point that he could create everything we envisioned for the day. So it's a real disappointment to say that only ONE of the three suits was worth the experience. Darius (the owner) quoted the turn around time to be 6 weeks and assured everything would be done well before the wedding. There was excuse after excuse when we reached out multiple times for updates. Communication was lacking, and there were delays without any updates. All the suits were not ready for pick up until 10/17 we are departing Tuesday 10/21. Leaving us no time for a Plan B. This is an important part of the experience because despite clear instructions, one of the suits was the wrong pattern & the button selected at the consultation/ 1st fitting was not done. Don't waste your time. I called earlier this week to ask if I need an appointment and was told no and that the hours are 9-6:30. The internet also says they open at 9.I arrived there well after 9 AM. The store was closed. No lights on. The sign at the door says opens at 9. I called. No answer. I left two messages saying I'm outside. Waited 10 - 15 minutes. They called me an hour later saying they open at 10 and that there's a mistake on the internet. I reminded him that the sign on the door of the store also says 9! It would have been better if he apologized instead of telling an apparent lie. I wouldn't trust someone like that with my clothes. I'll take my business elsewhere. There are many words that I'd use to describe this business, but the most apt are incompetent and unprofessional. I served in my friend's wedding last week on 9/15 and I live out of state, so I had no personal interaction with Dariaus. However, the updates discussed between myself, the groom, and the rest of the groom's party (including screenshots of conversations between the above parties) were appalling. Several points: - Measurements were obtained/sent directly to Dariaus via email in January and May of this year. He continuously lost my measurements as well as the other groomsmen's measurements, so I provided them to the groom so they'd be readily available every time Dariaus lost them. The promised completion date for the entire party's clothing was mid-July. - Some of the groomsmen had their tuxedo alterations completed on 9/13, 2 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING. Everything could have been completed 9/11, but Dariaus canceled that day's fittings to go to North Carolina and gave his employees the day off. - Dariaus's initial proposed plan was to have his team complete measurements and alterations for 6 people, the day before the wedding. The groomsmen who had their alterations completed in the days before the wedding were told it would take,"15 minutes." 15 minutes was actually 3 hours. - Because I live out of state and didn't realistically trust Dariaus's team to be able to complete the entire groom's party's alterations the day before the wedding (he was already 2 months past his promised deadline), Dariaus agreed with the groom to overnight my tuxedo to me when it was completed, 9/6. The groom had to drive him to 2 different post offices before he'd agree on the shipping price. - My tuxedo, which luckily wasn't damaged in transit (he claimed the cost as less than $100 so he wouldn't have to cover it with shipping insurance (I paid $350 for it)), cost almost as much to alter as it did to manufacture, due to the poor tailoring. - During the week of the wedding, Dariaus had every excuse in the book as to why things were running late - the shop lost power, a seamstress quit, and he was consistently late to almost every meeting with my fellow groomsmen for alterations/tux pickup. - The groomsmen had to carefully store their receipts, as we paid in cash. Several of us were almost charged a second time for our tuxedos due to the establishment's poor record keeping. - Included in the order were cufflinks, which I didn't receive. I was under the misconception that the groom had received them, which was admittedly my mistake. The day of the wedding, the groom gave me his own cufflinks so I'd have some to wear and had to find a different set. When the groom investigated Dariaus's business, he was promised a positive and stress-free experience. This venture was the opposite. Dariaus's grandiose pretense of high-level couture is a sham. He is a superb liar, excellent at the art of deflection, and I have never seen such poor management of a business that advertises,"Quality in every thread." If you have need of bespoke services, do yourself a favor and seek a different shop. read more

I am extremely pleased with the work I had done here and the customer service I received. I had my wedding dress taken in, hemmed at the bottom, and bustled. The dress has a corset top with boning throughout. I was so anxious about the alterations and whether the corset would be ruined but the seamstress did an incredible job. My dress looks stunning and I can't wait for my fiancé and family to see it. I will be wearing it all night and I'm so happy Darius and his team were able to do exactly what I wanted. Located in a dirty building/basement with no parking lot, I brought a dress in to get hemmed a few inches. It's a simple dress that has a skirt that is the same length in the front and back. When I dropped off the dress initially, I brought the shoes I planned on wearing with me so it was sized correctly and we spoke about how I wanted it to be short enough to see the shoe, which would mean it should be lifted off of the ground a few inches. Today, I went to pick up the dress (no one called when it was ready) they had it bagged with someone else's dress (which is unsanitary especially in covid times). Nobody else was in the store. I try on the dress in a dirty unheated dressing room that's exposed to a completely unfinished basement with pests and god knows what else and the dress is not even at all. The back is longer than the front and the entire thing was still touching the ground. After talking to the male employee who tells me he doesn't know how to sew (how ironic being that he works a tailors), I take off the dress and say I will try it on with a higher shoe and bring it back if it's really a problem because my event is only 4 days away and I don't have many other options. I didn't expect a simple hem service to be so problematic. I say I will pay and be on my way. I go to hand him my credit card and he says cash only. NOWHERE IN THE STORE OR MY TICKET DID IT SAY CASH ONLY. Apparently when I dropped off the dress initially he said it to my fiance but not me, even though I am the customer. Annoyed, I informed him I would go get money from the ATM around the corner and went to leave. He jumped towards me and FORCEFULLY grabbed my arm. Like full on grabbed around my entire arm (I'm 5'2" and am tiny) and it hurt. I screamed at him to let go of me but he grabbed hard enough that it left a mark on my arm (I have a picture as proof and it's timestamped). I guess he thought I was trying to run out of the store, dress in hand, and skip out on my $75 dress hem?? How insulting! Livid I tell him to take his hands off of me and that he could have simply stated WITH HIS WORDS not to leave the store with the dress. It was completely inappropriate and I feel very uncomfortable with the entire experience. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE. SAVE YOURSELF A TRIP AND GO SOMEWHERE WITH EXPERIENCED AND PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES. I had my wedding dress altered here, as well as a few other dresses. Covid struck during the time in which I was supposed to pick up my dress, and Dariaus went out of his way to ensure that I was able to get my dresses back in a timely manner and in a safe way. Even when I needed one minor thing fixed on the wedding dress, he immediately set up a way for me to get my dress fixed free of charge and even dropped it off again himself to my apartment to limit our exposure. I paid slightly more than expected for the regular dresses' alterations, and about standard for the wedding dress alterations, but the quality of work and responsiveness were well worth it. Nearly 18 months later and 3 reviews here's my thoughts. First off I've had 6 jackets altered, 1 full canvas suit made, and 2 sports coats made. The Owner: Darius is the owner upon first few encounters was pleasant but that soon turned to anger when Darius was non responsive when I inquired about my paid work. I strongly felt that because I'm too an African American he felt that I should give him a courtesy as a friend rather than a paying customer. Darius doesn't dress the part he always wears street clothes in the shop. I would prefer to purchase fine clothing from a man who wears fine clothing himself. I was unhappy with my work and left a review on yelp months after. Darius contacted me and spoke to me in an abrasive manner like I was his friend and not a client. He told me that negative reviews take food out of his kids mouths then later said he would fix all the jackets and they would be done quickly. A month later when I'm supposed to come pick up my garments, Darius contacts me stating that the shop has collapsed and he needed time to get things fixed and he would send my garments to my new home state. 2 months go by and Darius isn't returning calls or text. I had to threaten him with legal action for him to send my garments and when I received them they were all messed up worst than before. The Tailor: David is the primary tailor. His work is subpar and old fashion. His attitude reflects his work. He is very unpleasant to interact with and has no regard for timelines. Alterations are never completed on time and they often are completely untouched when you arrive to pick them up. Then he will try to rush it to get it done. I had to have a real master tailor fix all the jackets I had made from B Nathaniel, I spent an additional $600 in total to fix Davids work. The Verdict: I would avoid this shop at all cost. They lack professionalism and responsiveness. Although the prices are cheaper you will ultimately get what you pay for. Buying custom clothing should be a complete experience, nothing about it should be unpleasant. Everyone shouldn't make custom clothes. I needed a dress hemmed last minute for a friend's wedding, so I brought it to "B. Nathaniel", considering all of their impressive reviews on google and Yelp. Now I see why customers rave about this tailor! Dariaus (the shop owner) is a very fair guy. I initially visited the shop on Tuesday evening, but they had an emergency and closed a little earlier than usual that day. (Note to all: call before showing up). Dariaus couldn't help me out until the next business day, but he made sure to cut me a price break due to the inconvenience. I brought him my dress on Wednesday at 6 pm, and it was turned around by Friday at 6 pm. 48 hour service was more than I could hope for. Unacceptable service. I had to go back three times to get my shirts. The lack of professionalism and courtesy to notify of delay is unbelievable. I even had the owner's word that it would be complete on a certain and I still had a delay. My shirts still don't fit right. One sleeve is slightly tighter than the other. I called to see if the store could copy a pair of women's casual pants that fits me just right. I was told this could be done. I visited the new store two weeks later. When I came in I mentioned my call and the tailor looked at me with a puzzled expression. He said I wouldn't find fabric for these pants. In fact, all the fabric he directed me to was for men's dress suits. I asked if there was any casual fabrics. He told me the manager would call me. I left my number and the pants. I never got a call back. I called again and the tailor said the manager was away for a week but would get back to me. He did not. I called again today and when I mentioned not getting a promised call back I was told that my number had been lost. I asked to speak to the manager. He did not call back for three hours. I called again, and the manager was extremely rude, and he hung up on me. I called back and before I could say anything he said "come and get my stuff," adding, "I'm not gonna bring it back to you!" Great tailor glad to have found one in my area. I ordered 4 shirts and had 2 brioni shirts altered along with a Yves Saint Laurent and a d'venza suit all alterations where done very accurately. The custom shirts are also excellent the shirt alteration where a little tight as the button pulled slightly on one and was not acceptable on the other. This is why they get five stars David quickly realized his mistake and is currently recutting me a new shirt to replace the shirt that was cut incorrectly no arguments nothing this is good customer service. I had lots of work done and they where just so friendly and honest about what they can and can not do. One must appreciate that in a service business. I will be going again Friday to drop off two new d'venza suits to be tailored as I prefer to have this tailor do the final alterations for my suits versus the tailor I buy the custom cut suits from! Price was fair for the work I had done four custom shirts,two suit alterations , two shirt alteration cost me $970 slightly higher than my previous tailor but the work is better. When you are wearing $5k suits you want to be sure the cut and final measurements are perfect my vendor makes sure the cut is perfect but the final alterations are what make the difference which is why I go to David. I would compare this service to going to Sal Lauretta in North Jersey or Oxxford in Chicago. Slightly better is a trip to Seville London but that is the holy grail few aspire to such levels... Great experience from booking the appointment to the day of my wedding. They are very accommodating and even went as far as trying to customize and old necktie of mine into a bow tie. My wife sent me a picture of what she thought would be nice and they took over from there. At the end of it all, not only did the suit look great but I left with a great taste in my mouth. I went to have my wedding dress tailored. I received attitude from David from the moment i stepped inside the shop, I felt very uneasy(wish I listened to my instinct). It was agreed the dress would be ready for pickup a week later. During that week I called the shop line for days, line was disconnected and left David a voicemail on his cell with an inquiry, never returned my call. I arrived on the agreed upon date to find my dress had gone untouched. He asked to come back later that evening that he could rush to fix it, I insisted he take his time to do it right, he agreed he'd need another week to do it right(dress needed a lot of alterations from top to bottom, for the price of $280). I arrived a week later to be not so surprised that my dress was again untouched. Upon arrival David was shaking his head that I came early, When I asked for my dress, there was no explanation or apology. I found a local woman tailor, very professional and polite after seeing my dress on reported how off the pins were set and dress still very loose on. Her estimate to do alterations was $120, more then 2x less than B Nathaniel's. I went to a tailor in south river and had a 5 star experience. I went to this shop today to have them replace a zipper for a good coat of mine. Would you believe, they simply took out a pair of pliers and tightened the zipper slide and told me that there was no need to replace the whole zipper? The fix will likely be relatively temporary (the slide will eventually wear out), but they saved me real money. I will definitely go back to them whenever I need tailoring done!
