I found this place while searching online for a tailor to repair a tear in my coat. The reviews seemed decent, so I felt comfortable bringing in three items for dry cleaning, including a $400 coat that needed a small repair. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The seamstress was not there when I dropped of the coat, they said that she will look and see if she can fix it and let me know by phone. I then find out that she "fixed" my coat without consulting me first, claiming the repair was necessary for the dry cleaning process. In doing so, she actually made the tear worse and ended up ruining the coat. When I tried to address the issue with the staff, the situation only got worse. The employees became defensive, rude, and belligerent. The interaction escalated to the point where I felt uncomfortable and unsafe in the store, as two male associates were behaving aggressively. I haven't even evaluated the quality of the dry cleaning yet, but at this point it's hard to say the service was worth the cost of a ruined $400 coat and the unpleasant treatment I received. It's especially disappointing because I had hoped I'd found a reliable dry cleaning and tailoring service close to home. read more

The customer service and quality is great!!!! The people are really nice. Especially the women that does the tailoring. She is too notch. This is my second time frequenting this business and they do great work. I think the prices are fair being that you are in Metuchen and they do great work, which is what matters most to me. Came here because they had an August special: wedding dress preservation for $80. Normally preservations start at $150 so I jumped right on this. My wedding dress was trashed after my wedding. It has dirt and stains on the hem and a run somewhere. I dropped it off and it was ready in a week. It came in a big huge box and in that box was another box with my dress in it. The box is sturdy. They also stuffed the bodice of my dress with tissue paper and gave me a new cardboard bust. I didn't want to open it to see the gem of my dress since it was packaged so well, but I will assume they cleaned it. The service is excellent and the employees are very nice. The problem was the dress I really liked was only available in a size two sizes too big for me, so I had to get it taken in a fair amount. Oh, and I needed it done in 3 days! The seamstress said it was no problem and quickly and efficiently pinned the garment, then the friendly clerk created my ticket. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. Three days later my dress was ready and it fit perfectly. The stitching was so perfect you would never have known it was taken in. The icing on the cake is that the price was very reasonable. I took 3 suits, 2 pair of mens pants, 2 sports jackets and 5 long sleeve shirts here. I was told they'd be ready the following Wednesday after 3 p.m. I went there on Thursday around noon and was told the shirts would not be ready until after 3 p.m. that day. I don't live in town, but even if I did, it sure would have been nice if I had been called and advised my entire cleaning order would not be ready until 24 hours after the day they were suppose to have been done so I could have picked it all up at one time instead of having to return for the remainder of my cleaning order. read more

Dropped off a coat to have a zipper replaced on 4/3/2021. Went into the location a month later was told not yet ready, they are working on wedding alterations allow more time. I called the location in September was told they are finished with wedding and coat will be done in a few week. called the store today 11/8/2021 was told not ready and phone was handed to 'Patricia' who said 'I never told you today or tomorrow'. I said not to do it I would pick up the coat and zipper today. She said fine. 20 minutes later they call to say they already cleaned the coat and removed the zipper and the coat would be ready tonight. $55.00 to replace a zipper and clean a coat - and I provided the zipper. poor service, there are many other dry cleaners and tailors in Metuchen don't waste your time and money with George's. We were greeted immediately and both were able to go in their dressing rooms to put on what they needed tailored. The tailor was very friendly and knew what needed to be done after they both briefly explained what they wanted. My fiancé's jeans were done quickly and at a great price. My mom's dress took longer but it was a very different material so I expected that it'd be more intricate. Went in on a Wednesday morning (knowing I was pushing my luck) because I needed my dress altered by Saturday, so I went in with the intention of being told they couldn't accommodate me because again I know it was very last minute. The seamstress allowed me to try on my dress to see what needed to be altered and pinned it. Now here's my issue, I went into the fitting room to remove my dress but when I came out the seamstress and another coworker (a guy) were talking about me in the sense of how late I came in for an alteration that needed to be done in such little time, and next time they would just tell me - xyz and he had sooo much attitude saying it. (they couldn't see me but i saw and heard them.) when the man finally came around and saw that i was standing there he had nothing to say - that oh shit face. he just handed me my ticket. I asked him if it would be a problem getting my dress done and he "assured " me that if that was the issue she (the seamstress) would have just told me that " - EVEN THOUGH THATS LITERALLY WHAT THEY WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT! I said if there's an issue and it's too last minute it's not a big deal I will just take it back. . he said there wasn't any problem, so still skeptical i gave him the dress and left out but i walked back in two seconds later to get my dress back because i was already uneasy about the situation. read more

I forgot to tell the owner that my pants were made of special material and not to iron or steam press them.
