Mike and Sarah with Advanced Plumbing are simply the best!!…read more I was recently having water pressure issues at my house and was sure that it was the pressure relief valve that was faulty, since my house is 13 years old and my neighbor had just recently replaced theirs. Mike came out and determined that the valve was indeed faulty and quickly replaced it and at a reasonable price. The water pressure was better, but still wasn't really the way it should be. This is where Advanced Plumbing really shined. Mike came back out and took his time to correctly diagnose that the pressure issues that I was still having were all due to my water softener system having some kind of a internal issue. He bypassed the softener to be sure and immediately the water pressure was fixed. He all of this all at no extra cost to me, which is really amazing, especially since he knew I still had a warranty on the water softener and thus wouldn't get any more business out of this job if it was indeed the water softener that was faulty. I got the water softener fixed a few days later and everything is back to normal. Mike and Sarah showed outstanding customer service and just as important, got the problem figured out in a timely manner and at a great price. The focus of this review is the water heater that they installed on 1/26/23. As you can see from my other reviews, the water heater that was installed before that one was in 2016. 7 years is a reasonable amount of time for a water heater to last. The problem is that the anode rod is failing in this current one. Edie came out and drained it on June 29th. We are not currently living there. In fact, the house is for sale. The problem was the hot water was turning yellow. He said to run the hot water, especially in the tub upstairs once a week, which we have been doing despite living across town now. Guess what? The hot water is yellow in tint again. Here's the rub. At the top of my receipt it says 50 gallon water heater, 6 year essential warranty. Fast forward to yesterday. Garrett comes out and notes the yellowish tint in the hot water. So, he says he can maybe replace the anode rod for about $500. He also says I can try calling AO Smith to see if they will send a new water heater and they will install it for about 2K. So, this is like going to a mechanic and a part fails and they say, why don't you call the company and see if they will send you a new part? I am pretty sure that is not a thing. By the way, he tried to get the anode rod out and it is welded solid in there. I told him we would give a credit to a potential buyer but after talking to my husband I realize that is not a good approach. It is already a brutal market to try to sell a home. So, I am faced with having to replace it although I have a document that says at the top 6 year essential warranty. That makes no sense. I will have to bid it out and Rooterman will not be on the list. They replaced the heater in 2016 and then again in 2023. I had no qualms in having them install it in 2023 because they had my complete trust. This is no longer the case. I no longer recommend Rooterman Plumbing. I gave them 2 stars because they used to do a good and honest job for me. I no longer feel that this is the case.

After discovering that our usual AC guy was unavailable, I gathered estimates from several companies. The prices were shockingly high, so I created a detailed spreadsheet comparing different systems, pricing, discounts, rebates, and warranties. Out of all the companies, Altruistic Heating and Cooling stood out by offering the best price--thousands less than the others. They also went above and beyond by providing a portable AC unit to keep the tenants comfortable until the installation, which was a huge relief. While some companies tried to pressure me with last-minute offers and discounts, Altruistic's straightforward approach and reasonable pricing made the decision easy. They even included a free bonus service of two maintenance calls per year for four years. The installation went smoothly, and although I had to follow up to ensure the job was fully completed, Altruistic responded quickly and finished everything as promised. They had left a note in the final invoice saying, "We need to return some time (date removed) to install the flue pipe." As a property manager, I expect to handle follow-ups, so this wasn't a major issue for me. But I followed up with them to get this done before we made the payment. Although I felt Altruistic had been very trustworthy, I know people who have been burned by other companies after paying in full before the job was completed, so I wanted to make sure it was completely done. Daniel from the office contacted me, and they ensured everything was finished before I made the final payment. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Altruistic Heating and Cooling. They provided excellent service, great value, quality workmanship and their customer service was top-notch. I highly recommend them to anyone needing AC services. Follow-up: months later when winter weather arrived and the heat wasn't coming on, I called them in the evening expecting to hear back the next morning. They called me right away that evening and went out to the property first thing the next morning and fix the problem with no charge. I would strongly recommend staying away from this company…read more They came to my house to fix an issue with my AC, and less than two months later, I was having the exact same problem. They came back out and supposedly fixed it. During that visit, they also dumped what looked like a whole bucket of rusty water directly into the middle of my driveway, leaving a large stain. While the technician was cleaning the outside AC unit, she apparently pinched some of the wiring when she put everything back together. A couple of hours later, the AC stopped working completely. I called the company, and she came back out. Somehow, she "missed" the wiring issue that she had caused and told me I needed a new fan motor that was going to cost me $1,200. I called the owner/boss and explained what happened. They refused to take responsibility for the problem and told me I would have to pay for the repair. I called another AC company the following morning. The technician immediately found the problem: the wiring had been pinched. He fixed it for about $50 in actual repair work, plus a $175 emergency service fee. So instead of the $1,200 repair I was told I needed, the actual problem was something that took very little to fix. Unfortunately, that's not even the worst part. During the first visit, the technician asked if I wanted her to give my phone number to another company they work with because I needed some moldy drywall taken care of. I said yes. That company never called me, and I never contacted them. Despite that, they showed up at my house while I was out of town. There was a nurse at my house caring for my daughter, who has special needs. The nurse told them she didn't know they were coming and that she was not the homeowner. They proceeded to enter my home anyway and went into my attic. That is completely unacceptable. Between the poor workmanship, attempting to charge me $1,200 for a problem they caused, refusing to take responsibility, damaging/staining my driveway, and a separate company showing up unannounced and entering my home while I wasn't there after being told they weren't expected, I would not trust this company anywhere near my home again. This required digging a 4x4 hole outside of our garage then digging a 10ft tunnel under our garage to reach the break in the pipe. After having a large corporation out first to give me a bid at an astronomical price, I had Rob out and his bid came in 50% of the price for the exact same work. He also was able to make a temporary fix that allowed us to use water in our house before we got it fixed, whereas the other company told me there was absolutely nothing they could do and we couldn't use any water in our house until it was fixed. Rob also is incredibly friendly, walks you through the whole process, has a great team, is punctual, and got the job done in record time. The other company told me I'd have to move out of my house for 2 days while they fixed it so they could shut the water off. Rob and his team only shut the water off for a couple hours, letting us stay in our house during the work. Can't recommend them enough, 10/10.
