I came to this store with hopes of waking out with a great fitting shoe and some insight on the type of shoe that would be best for me! Wow was I in for a treat! Sheryl ( I believe that is how you spell her name) was a very nice woman that knew what she was talking about! I believe she said she was the owner of the shop. They have been servicing the Clear lake area for about 15 years! So back to the shoe experience. I was able to tell Sheryl my needs , what my problem with my current shoes (average lower tier brand running shoes) and how I keep having or needing sports message or chiropractic adjustment on my lower back. She asked me to take off my shoes , measured my foot (width , height and arch support needed) , asked me to walk up and down the store and she immediately knew what kind of shoe would be best for me. It was so refreshing to know that she knew what I needed out of a shoe! She looked at my old running shoes to verify my step. She went to the back of the store and came back about 5 min later with 3 choices of shoes. She had me try on the first , walk in it and then try the next pair. One by one I would talk about how they felt and in moments she gave me her recommendation. I was really impressed with the owner and the store. You can tell the running gurus come here for a reason. They seemed to have several folks in the store helping people and I paid about $125 for the running shoes. They do have a rewards program so if you buy seven pairs of shoes the 7th one is free. After using the Brooks shoes on my first run it felt immediately different. No longer were my feet killing me getting off the treadmill or my feet and legs feeling just used up and sore the next day. My knees didn't hurt and my lower back felt fine. The cushioning and support on the shoe was what I needed. I can't say enough how happy I am with them. Thank you On the Run!!! I run for health reasons and I'm in no way shape or form a pro runner. Nor did I use to run track or cross section. I'm just an average guy that was looking for a change of the normal "running" shoe. After looking at 32 stores for new workout shoes, we finally found a pair that worked! Jareco (I'm so sorry cuz I know I spelled that wrong) helped us find the perfect pair for my husband. The process was extremely helpful and thorough. They have you walk without shoes to evaluate the way you walk in order to determine what type of shoe you'd need, after carful evaluation, they size your foot and bring you several pairs to try. Went to on the run and they were super helpful in doing a custom fitting and addressing my needs. Also got a 10% discount because I was a new client and they have an excellent 30 day return policy. Ok, I needed new running shoes and the last pair I lucked out and just bought online, but I've been running a LOT more and decided that I needed to find the right shoe for my foot, my stride and the way I run. But I was afraid to come in here because I was afraid they might not be interested in helping me since I only run 5ks. Wow, was I wrong! We were greeted as soon as we walked in....not in a high pressure omg I have to sell you something now way, but in a friendly, we want to help you find what is best for you way. I didn't get the lady's name that helped me, but she had me walk around barefooted to see my stride and measured my foot and looked at my old running shoes and helped me decide on the perfect pair of shoes. They don't have a huge selection of shoes, but they do have a few of each of the different types for the way you run...and if you're not quite sure what you need, they will help you. They also have accessories and clothes. It's not a huge store, so if you want a big selection then you might want to go elsewhere, but if you want great customer service and want to talk running, then definitely head here. It's not a cheap place, but after looking at the shoes at Academy the prices really aren't that much higher, plus again, the customer service is top notch, so to me it is definitely worth it! I love this store. If you are looking for a proper running shoe then this is the place to go in this area. First of they start by making you walk up & down a small area to see how you walk & then do a proper sizing. Then they choose 3-4 pairs for you & bring them out for you to try & decide for yourself which ones are best for you. The selections they offer are somewhat limited but of very good quality. The staff are attentive,eager to help & knowledgeable on everything about the sport of running & different upcoming races available. If you are looking for a specific shoes that is not available in the store they have no qualms ordering it for you. They also have a small selection of running accessories & clothing. The prices are a little higher than your average store however they have a "punch card" that allows you to get a free pair of shoes on your 8th purchase!!! I personally prefer to buy from local shops vs the major companies that don't care,they're more about profit than your feet. Should you need a shoe for a different sport (volleyball,basketball,etc.) they can also order them for you based on a catalog that they have in store,just ask! On the flip side,if you're going to be a princess about having blue shoes instead of what they have in the store or aren't willing to wait for your order to come in,then that's on you. Manufacturers only have certain colors they offer in a specific shoe so suck it up! You're running not going to a fashion show! I in fact did return to give the place another chance with my son and the service was a little better but the shoe my son wanted needed to be ordered. As a frequent runner, but no more than half marathons, I trust the team at On the Run to take the time to get the fit right. They understand the needs from any level of experience runner: from your first 5K to your 100th marathon. They happily watch you walk, observe how your foot falls, and ask questions about what it is you need in a shoe. They have a good selection, of the top/popular contenders, but not an overwhelming list of options. Sometimes less is more; especially when the shoes you're choosing from have a good track record and On the Run knows their quality. Yes, you will be paying for quality, anywhere from $100 to $150 per pair, but they have a program where you buy 6 get the 7th pair free. I also go to their website for listings of local runs, and usually I find 5K/10Ks listed there before any other website. That doesn't mean you need the most expensive shoes - it means the RIGHT shoes for your foot and your running style. The folks at On The Run will help you find the RIGHT shoes for you. Expect to spend between $100 and $150 for a good pair of running shoes. It's just what they cost. You can find less expensive shoes at the big chain stores but are they going to be the right ones for you? Who knows... Will you end up hurting yourself? Who knows... You never see anyone who isn't excited about being there and helping you. They won't have the variety of a "big box" store, you come here to get great customer service and interaction with a sales attendant who listens to your needs. They always have the latest editions of shoes, you can always call ahead to see if they might have what you're looking for. They're also a great community ally. They heavily sponsor local running clubs and 5K races, there always seems to be some event coming up soon and the store is the place to be to see what's happening. I'll first say that I didn't even get to shop here today due to the "mask required" restrictions this store as recently adopted (that i wouldn't have even known about without trying to shop here). I needed new running shoes and wanted to break away from my staple purchase of a pair of ASIC Kayanos, so I decided to stop by On the Run. The staff were helpful, friendly, and showed me a nice pair of New Balance 1260V3 shoes that I decided to purchase. This is where the problems set in. The only shoe available was white/red, unfortunately I don't really want a white running shoe since they look good for about 2 weeks and then need washing. So I decided to take the recommendation of the sales associate and wait while they order a blue pair. Sounds good to me, I wait a week, get my new pair of awesome blue shoes and everyone is happy, right? This is where the ball got dropped. I wait over a week and receive a call saying that my shoes are in. I stop by, grab the box, look inside and it's the wrong color. In fact, it is the old red/white color originally in the store which I tried on. I tell the sales associate the issue, he goes to look into it, turns out they actually couldn't get the blue pair of shoes they said they could a week ago; the factory actually ran out of them. Ok. Factory issue, not On the Run's fault. What is On the Run's fault though is this. 5 days before I picked up the shoes, they found out, from the factory, that they would not be getting the blue pair I requested. However, no call was made to me about this. 5 days after this call they decide to give me a pair of shoes that I tried on in the store, the very same pair of shoes which I could have walked out of the store the very day I purchased them. I didn't wait over a week to get the same shoes I paid for a week ago. I waited a week to get the pair of shoes I purchased! If you can't get me those, you should tell me! I'm not mad that they didn't get the shoes, I'm mad that they didn't tell me they didn't get the shoes. Instead, On the Run made me wait a week to be given the wrong pair of shoes and didn't have the decency tell me that they were giving me the wrong pair of shoes. I had to tell them! For a store dedicated to customer satisfaction, that's a big misstep. You can't take someone's money, order a pair of shoes, not get the pair of shoes, and then attempt to pass off another pair of shoes as those shoes without telling me anything. All I wanted was a call asking if I would take the red/white shoes. I probably would have! That's it. Simple, 5 minute call to explain things, I take the shoes. The way things went down though, I was lied to and given the wrong shoes with no explanation. For that, I give this otherwise stellar store 2 stars. After this fiasco, I went online to LeftLane sports, found the same shoes, in the color I requested and priced $45 cheaper than On the Run. Needless to say, I purchased them and will be returning the pair of shoes On the Run gave me within the week. If you read this entire rant-like post, thanks, my end statement is that On the Run is great if you want to walk in and walk out with some shoes and you've never bought a pair of running shoes before/want a new pair and are willing to pay a premium. Otherwise, the order in process screwed me over and left me unable to run for the past week. At least I'll come out with the right shoes in the end, even if it was a struggle to get there. read more

This was a completely different shoe buying experience for me. Usually I ask a teenage sales associate which shoe is a good shoe for a person with shin splints and flat feet and they lead me to whatever shoe is the most expensive BUT, On The Run is different buying experience. They ask you about the kind of runner you are, what you have been wearing, what issues you have running and then they evaluate your feet. Then they pick out shoes for you to try on. I wanted the abnoxiously colored running shoes but as it turns out, they were not right for me. They Taylor picked the shoes for me. He said they have a good return policy but I wasn't even sure if I needed neutral, stability, hell not even the width! I asked if it could be the wrong shoe that is causing my knee pain, he shrugged. They didn't ask me to walk to see if I was over-pronating he simply suggested a stability shoe which they don't have. We then sat in silence with a shoe I wasn't happy with, no helpful suggestions nothing just silence. On the Run is THE BEST store for buying running shoes. I have been running for over 40 years and have personally bought over 20 pairs of running shoes from this store. I have only been disappointed with one pair of shoes I bought there AND the young man who sold me the shoes told me he didn't think I should buy them. I bought a pair of Newton shoes that I just wanted to try (I have run in Saucony for the past 10 years). I gave them away to a young man and he absolutely loved them. Lesson learned - stick to the ones that I have used for years! And listen to the folks at On The Run! My wife and 4 sons buy shoes from this store and they have not been disappointed. I send everyone to this store to buy running shoes. The folks who work there are runners. They know running! They are extremely knowledgeable about shoes and which one best fits different runners. They make recommendations about which shoe will fit you and your needs. They seem to really want you to have the best shoe for you - and that's important. When I ran my first marathon in Houston at age 50, they gave me important pointers about buying larger size than usual so I wouldn't loose toenails - I didn't. They sell a lot of shoes, so you may have to wait a few days if they order you a pair. I don't worry about colors - I want a great shoe. Their prices are NO more expensive for that particular shoe than any other store. You get a free pair when you buy the 7th pair of shoes. Plus if you are a member of running club or triathlon group and let them know they give you 10% discount During shoe tract season, lots and lots of kids there buying their shoes. Ok just bought shoes from here and so far am disappointed. After trying on 7 different pair of shoes and 2 sales guys they came up with a pair of men's shoes that is a size too big. They told me to tie them tighter and wear them for awhile and that I could bring them back. I think they were just trying to make a sale because they didn't have the right size for me!!
