I visited Wild Pear Running late one evening after work. I felt bad because I made it 15 mins (or less) before they closed. Although I made it so close to closing, there was not one moment where I felt rushed. I already had an idea of what I wanted, but they still brought out three other pairs of shoes to try. They asked me questions, were very attentive to my needs, and offered suggestions. Apparently, I had been getting the wrong sized shoes for years. After their help with proper sizing and fitting, the shoes I purchased are the most comfortable walking/running shoes I have ever owned. So glad we found this place! My husband and I needed really excellent footwear for a trip to Italy, I've had some foot issues in the past, and we both wanted the best we could find for our feet for all the walking we would do. David was really helpful and personalized our fittings with shoes that were perfect for each of us and are SUPER comfortable! The things they're able to do with athletic shoes nowdays is incredible! I actually went in thinking Hoka's for myself and instead left with a beautiful pair of Asics Nimbus-25, also ordered a second pair in a different color and went back a few weeks later and got a third pair in another color. Came in here limping, and left with shoes that made all the difference! I called the day before my visit and spoke to David about my Accessory Navicular Syndrome. It's a small bone on your inner foot right above your arch that can cause problems with high intensity activity (running especially). He took time to do research and help me determine what shoe would be best for me. He fitted me and determined my gait. We settled on some Hoka's and he helped me figure out my arch and suggested a high profile insole to add with the shoes. I asked about the color and he helped me decide by showing me on the computer any other available colors. The cost was more than I expected, ($130 being the starting point for most shoes) but it is a specialty store for running and in my opinion it's definitely worth it! My foot pain is gone and I felt an immediate difference. I am extremely grateful for the help and extra attention/effort that was given to help me solve my problem! They also have a 30 day return policy, so thought that was a great detail they provide at checkout. Definitely will be recommending this store to friends and family! read more

They'll give you advice and let you try on their entire stock room if it gets you into the right pair of shoes to fit your goals. I came here for a gait analysis and recommendation on my shoe needs for my feet. They were very helpful. I was able to walk around the store and run on their treadmill. I never knew of ANY other stores who gives you a gait analysis. The person who helped me also brought out different pairs of shoes for me to try based on my gait analysis ( which was just her watching how I walk in bre feet. ) and compare while walking, jogging and running. My wife bought some running sneakers and they did not work out for her due to them being uncomfortable. People who run marathons are crazy. Why would anyone choose to do that to themselves? I understand jumping on a treadmill for an hour to get your daily dose of exercise, but who in their right mind would choose to run 26.2 miles? There is no way I would ever do that. At least that is what I thought before being introduced to David, the owner of Wild Pear Running. Several years ago, my wife started a "Couch to 5K" program with a few of her friends. I wanted to join in on the fun and so I started the program myself. It quickly became apparent we did not have the proper gear for our newfound endeavor. A friend of ours referred us to Wild Pear Running. The store had just opened in Pearland, which was awesome as it meant we did not have to drive 30 minutes into Houston or over to Friendswood. Our first visit there was a game changer. We met Dave, the owner, who was immediately one of the nicest guys we had ever met. He spent time with us asking about our running goals and making recommendations on what type of shoe would best fit. We tried on several pairs each and Dave explained the differences between them and what we should pay attention to when testing them out. After settling on one pair of shoes each, we bought some other gear such as socks and shorts. He provided explanations for those as well, allowing us to be perfectly comfortable and confident in our decisions. Not only have we been back to the store many times, but we have never hesitated to send someone we know to Dave and his staff for their shoe and running needs. In addition to running a great store, Dave always supports the local community. You will often see Wild Pear Running listed as one of the sponsors of local races. Many elementary schools and clubs have benefited from his generosity in this way. He hosts free running clinics at his store. He and his staff also host a weekly running group. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend lately, but I did for a while and it made that night of running easier and more enjoyable. I met some great people and was always able to find someone at a similar pace to run with. I did run that marathon. In fact, I have run three now. I can say with full confidence that I could not have done so without the support given to me by Dave and his staff. There is no substitute for perfectly fit shoes that match your running style and goals. I would never have found those if it were not for him. That said, no matter how great a guy Dave is, he is not going to run that marathon for you. He will, however, provide you with customized care and make sure you have everything you need to be successful. From the shoes to the shorts, the shirts to the hats, the socks to the body glide, he has what you need to reach your running goals. My decision to finally get a running shoe fitting was life-changing and I'm glad came to Wild Pear Running! I've always had issues with my ankles due to repeated past sprains, flat-footedness, and accessory navicular syndrome. Before I visited this store, I was running in Adidas Ultraboosts that gave me more arch support than regular sneakers/tennis shoes. However, my ankles always hurt after every single run or prolonged standing/walking. With time, the arch support in the Ultraboosts flattened out and the pain became more frequent and apparent. I finally decided to go get actual running shoes for my upcoming half marathon. The gentleman that helped me (Ben I believe?? sorry I have terrible memory!!) was very patient informative. It's been a few months since I've been here, but I'm getting ready to go back to the store to buy another pair of shoes, and it occurred to me, "I've never reviewed the place!" In short, if you live in Pearland, or even anywhere in Houston, for that matter, it's worth your time to head to this store. David, the owner is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about running. More than that, he hires people who have an enthusiasm for running as well. Last time I was there, there was certainly some kind of friendly (or maybe not so friendly, I'm not so sure) competition between a couple of the employees, both of whom, when they told me their times, floored me. Granted, they were both in high school, and in track as well, and I'm a 39 year old dude who didn't start running in earnest until I was 37 years old, but still. There's something very comforting about talking to employees who are MUCH more knowledgeable about shoes than the average shoe store worker. David has regularly gone out of his way to ensure that I get the shoes I need. He's patiently let me try on WAY too many shoes after I broke my foot during the 2017 half (due to my own stupidity insisting on running on shoes that were a size or two too small). His return policy is amazing, and he's clearly more concerned about getting his customers out there and running than he is about selling shoes, and, believe it or not, that makes ALL the difference. Now I just can't go anywhere else, because it's clear that when I go to Wild Pear, I'm doing more than just buying shoes. I'm buying into a community of runners, and I'm buying into a store that isn't just trying to get my money, but actually _cares_ about my success in running. So pleased with Wild Pear. I am a newer runner. I went in looking for shoes; I came out with wise counsel for newbies, an invitation to community, AND shoes. This is not just a store to buy things at, but an opportunity to engage with experienced, wise locals in the running community on everything from proper shoe fit to how to build a training plan, how to grow in running, where to walk/run locally, how to know when you are going too hard, and more.
