Top notch customer service! I had the incredible pleasure of visiting Wild Pear Running last weekend. I've been wanting to get back into walking for exercise and knew I needed something FAR more supportive than my adored Skechers Step-Ins. After some consultation with ChatGPT about what my current physical issues are and a brick and mortar store I could shop at, I was given a list of specific brands and styles: Brooks Ariel GTS, Hoka Gaviota, and ASICS Gel-Kayano. The icing on the cake was being referred to Wild Pear Running, where each of the models were in stock. Almost from the second I stepped in the door, I felt like family. I was greeted by Renee and after a quick size check, she brought out an enormous stack of boxes of shoes to test-drive. She checked the fit, how my toe felt in the toe box, and had me walk around a bit to see how they moved. After a brief size correction, we had it narrowed down to two models. One was a Brooks model, and the other was the Hoka Gaviota 6. I'd already decided that price would not be a factor, as I was more than willing to pay more for the best quality shoe I could get. At this point, her mini-me/daughter (please forgive me but I've forgotten her name) had joined us and we discussed adding Lock Laces so they would be easier to get on and off without having to lace up every time. She helped me pick out the best colour once I'd decided upon the Hoka model and put in the Lock Laces for me. I've done a fair amount of walking since last Saturday (including 45 minutes of physical therapy during my usual weekly visit). I can't even describe how amazing these shoes feel and how much my feet and ankles DON'T hurt after walking around for a while. Before physical therapy, I couldn't be on my feet for more than about 15 minutes without my lower back, ankles, and feet starting to hurt. Not anymore. I never thought I'd be able to say that a shoe was a life-changer but that's really what this whole experience has been. I highly recommend Wild Pear Running, no matter WHAT your goal is. You will receive the absolute best in customer service there, get incredible value for your purchase, and if you didn't feel like family when you walked in, you will by the time you leave. P.S. In case Renee's mini-me sees this, I hope you were able to visit the link to Amtgard that I wrote down for you! P.P.S. I got the Hoka Gaviota 6. read more

This place has the best customer service. My feet were getting achy and I knew I needed new shoes. The kind gentleman sat with me and gave some great recommendations , brought out many shoe types to help me , and information I didn't know. Ended up with Hoka and they matched the medical discount. Great place ! Will go back when I need to get some shoes for working out ! read more

I visited Wild Pear Running late one evening after work. I felt bad because I made it 15 mins (or less) before they closed. Although I made it so close to closing, there was not one moment where I felt rushed. I already had an idea of what I wanted, but they still brought out three other pairs of shoes to try. They asked me questions, were very attentive to my needs, and offered suggestions. Apparently, I had been getting the wrong sized shoes for years. After their help with proper sizing and fitting, the shoes I purchased are the most comfortable walking/running shoes I have ever owned. Im not a runner and I'm a bit out of shape, but I have been taking walks in the shoes and I can feel myself wanting to run because the shoes are so comfortable. Fast forward a week after my purchase I saw my shoes were on sale and saw on the card that they offered price matching. I called the store and they immediately honored the price match from the phone call as I sat comfortably at home! I am very satisfied with my purchase. Exceptional customer service and I will return for my next purchase! 10 out of 10 I would definitely recommend! read more

Amazing service. Every time I've walked in here I assume I'll just have a quick conversation to get my purchase done but I end up having really thoughtful and insightful recommendations from the employees. They really take their time to get to know what you're looking for and don't rush through questions to get the best pair of shoes for you. This is an establishment where you feel the employees care about you. Bonus: I had to exchange shoes and the whole process was hassle-free read more

You can tell he understands the customers concerns and the art of running. He didn't rush us and took his time with both of us in showing us many selections. He definitely made us confident in our shoe purchases and will be definitely coming back for all our running needs. read more

Stopped by Wild Pear Running as I recently picked up training for a 5k. I noticed that after my training sessions, I had pain and blistering in my feet. To assess the root cause of my issues, Wild Pear's associate had me walk without shoes on and measured my feet to find the best fitting shoe to meet my needs. The owner was also very helpful in providing me with simple exercises to strengthen my running muscles as well. I've been recommending Wild Pear to all of my friends and family to this store as I've already seen amazing results. read more

Great place to get your athletic shoes. They will pull out every option they feel will meet your foot needs until you find the perfect shoe. Brought our teenage daughters who needed shoes to help get them thru the long, grueling practices of marching band. One daughter has plantar fasciitis. The time and patience that was taken with us was much appreciated. Our girls found the right shoes that alleviated their pain and helped their practices more bearable. Love this place! read more

Their customer service was amazing! Super knowledgeable and friendly staff! They used a foot analyzing machine on me and then explained everything. read more

Very knowledgeable. Great conversations. Good amount of lived experience. Great communal running motivation. Outstanding service. It's an independent business too! read more

So glad we found this place! My husband and I needed really excellent footwear for a trip to Italy, I've had some foot issues in the past, and we both wanted the best we could find for our feet for all the walking we would do. David was really helpful and personalized our fittings with shoes that were perfect for each of us and are SUPER comfortable! The things they're able to do with athletic shoes nowdays is incredible! I actually went in thinking Hoka's for myself and instead left with a beautiful pair of Asics Nimbus-25, also ordered a second pair in a different color and went back a few weeks later and got a third pair in another color. Two of them went with me and made such a difference. My husband was actually fitted for the exact same shoe and is now considering a second pair for himself as well. This is our new store for athletic shoes! read more

Came in here limping, and left with shoes that made all the difference! I called the day before my visit and spoke to David about my Accessory Navicular Syndrome. It's a small bone on your inner foot right above your arch that can cause problems with high intensity activity (running especially). He took time to do research and help me determine what shoe would be best for me. He fitted me and determined my gait. We settled on some Hoka's and he helped me figure out my arch and suggested a high profile insole to add with the shoes. I asked about the color and he helped me decide by showing me on the computer any other available colors. The cost was more than I expected, ($130 being the starting point for most shoes) but it is a specialty store for running and in my opinion it's definitely worth it! My foot pain is gone and I felt an immediate difference. I am extremely grateful for the help and extra attention/effort that was given to help me solve my problem! They also have a 30 day return policy, so thought that was a great detail they provide at checkout. Definitely will be recommending this store to friends and family! read more

Wild Pear Running - Hoka Arahi 4 - Sporting Goods Near Me - Pearland, Texas

Ordered a pair of running shoes online. Some how my address got changed to an old address when finalizing my order. I was completely freaking out- since it was a great deal and we were no where near the old address. The customer service was beyond amazing. They promptly responded to my frantic message and fixed the issue. My shoes arrived today like nothing had ever happened. I'll be keeping them in mind in the future when I'm online shopping. Wish I lived closer they would 100% have my support! read more

Wild Pear Running is an amazing place full of employees that truly care about their customers. I've never felt pressured to buy anything at all. They'll give you advice and let you try on their entire stock room if it gets you into the right pair of shoes to fit your goals. They are all extremely knowledgeable and give you true customer service compared to a big box like Dick's. Prices are very similar to all big box stores as well. They've got all major brands except for Nike (Dick's is 3 miles away), a ton of accessories, nutrition, clothes, and a super friendly staff. Dave is absolutely fantastic to just chat with as well. I'll never buy running shoes from another store. WPR is fantastic. read more

I came here for a gait analysis and recommendation on my shoe needs for my feet. They were very helpful. I was able to walk around the store and run on their treadmill. I never knew of ANY other stores who gives you a gait analysis. The person who helped me also brought out different pairs of shoes for me to try based on my gait analysis ( which was just her watching how I walk in bre feet. ) and compare while walking, jogging and running. My problem was my high and some of the cute shoes I've been buying didn't support my arch. Thank you Sooooo much you guys for your assistance. I really do appreciate it. read more

The entire staff is very friendly and very helpful. Many shoes to choose from and they can suggest the perfect shoe for you! 30 day guarantee in case they don't work out. Customer service is top notch. Our family highly recommends! read more

The entire staff was friendly and very helpful, even after I thought I had found the right shoe the owner still wanted me to be sure and spent time with me talking about the differences in shoes and how to get me running more comfortably. I left feeling happy and ready to get back to running! Thanks a bunch and I will be back for more! read more

I would never patronize this business ever again. I gave it a try since it is a small business in the community and was very disappointed with the customer service. My wife bought some running sneakers and they did not work out for her due to them being uncomfortable. When I tried to return them, the guy behind the counter seemed perturbed, and was curt with all of his responses. There was another customer there and the energy was completely different. It looks like they only cater to a certain type of demographic. read more

I decided to stop in because I am I in need of new workout sneakers. While I did not find sneakers that I really loved (narrow feet and im picky), the gentleman that helped me gave excellent customer service. He took his time to explain different things to me, continuously brought me some options to try, and even recommended another brand of shoe at a different store that would probably fit me better. I definitely recommend going to Wild Pear Running to get fitted for some sneakers! read more

This place is amazing for their service and selection of shoes for people who need stability shoes.

The team here is amazing! They're super helpful and always friendly. Plus they are locally owned. I won't go anywhere else to get my exercise shoes. read more

People who run marathons are crazy. Why would anyone choose to do that to themselves? I understand jumping on a treadmill for an hour to get your daily dose of exercise, but who in their right mind would choose to run 26.2 miles? There is no way I would ever do that. At least that is what I thought before being introduced to David, the owner of Wild Pear Running. Several years ago, my wife started a "Couch to 5K" program with a few of her friends. I wanted to join in on the fun and so I started the program myself. It quickly became apparent we did not have the proper gear for our newfound endeavor. A friend of ours referred us to Wild Pear Running. The store had just opened in Pearland, which was awesome as it meant we did not have to drive 30 minutes into Houston or over to Friendswood. Our first visit there was a game changer. We met Dave, the owner, who was immediately one of the nicest guys we had ever met. He spent time with us asking about our running goals and making recommendations on what type of shoe would best fit. We tried on several pairs each and Dave explained the differences between them and what we should pay attention to when testing them out. After settling on one pair of shoes each, we bought some other gear such as socks and shorts. He provided explanations for those as well, allowing us to be perfectly comfortable and confident in our decisions. Not only have we been back to the store many times, but we have never hesitated to send someone we know to Dave and his staff for their shoe and running needs. In addition to running a great store, Dave always supports the local community. You will often see Wild Pear Running listed as one of the sponsors of local races. Many elementary schools and clubs have benefited from his generosity in this way. He hosts free running clinics at his store. He and his staff also host a weekly running group. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend lately, but I did for a while and it made that night of running easier and more enjoyable. I met some great people and was always able to find someone at a similar pace to run with. I did run that marathon. In fact, I have run three now. I can say with full confidence that I could not have done so without the support given to me by Dave and his staff. There is no substitute for perfectly fit shoes that match your running style and goals. I would never have found those if it were not for him. That said, no matter how great a guy Dave is, he is not going to run that marathon for you. He will, however, provide you with customized care and make sure you have everything you need to be successful. From the shoes to the shorts, the shirts to the hats, the socks to the body glide, he has what you need to reach your running goals. Whether it is a one-mile walk or a 50-mile endurance run, Dave and his staff are there for you. read more

My decision to finally get a running shoe fitting was life-changing and I'm glad came to Wild Pear Running! I've always had issues with my ankles due to repeated past sprains, flat-footedness, and accessory navicular syndrome. Before I visited this store, I was running in Adidas Ultraboosts that gave me more arch support than regular sneakers/tennis shoes. However, my ankles always hurt after every single run or prolonged standing/walking. With time, the arch support in the Ultraboosts flattened out and the pain became more frequent and apparent. I finally decided to go get actual running shoes for my upcoming half marathon. The gentleman that helped me (Ben I believe?? sorry I have terrible memory!!) was very patient informative. I ended up getting the Hokas instead of the Brooks, with the insoles too. I did a few runs in them and so far my feet have not hurt at all!!! I didn't know it was possible! read more

It's been a few months since I've been here, but I'm getting ready to go back to the store to buy another pair of shoes, and it occurred to me, "I've never reviewed the place!" In short, if you live in Pearland, or even anywhere in Houston, for that matter, it's worth your time to head to this store. David, the owner is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about running. More than that, he hires people who have an enthusiasm for running as well. Last time I was there, there was certainly some kind of friendly (or maybe not so friendly, I'm not so sure) competition between a couple of the employees, both of whom, when they told me their times, floored me. Granted, they were both in high school, and in track as well, and I'm a 39 year old dude who didn't start running in earnest until I was 37 years old, but still. There's something very comforting about talking to employees who are MUCH more knowledgeable about shoes than the average shoe store worker. David has regularly gone out of his way to ensure that I get the shoes I need. He's patiently let me try on WAY too many shoes after I broke my foot during the 2017 half (due to my own stupidity insisting on running on shoes that were a size or two too small). His return policy is amazing, and he's clearly more concerned about getting his customers out there and running than he is about selling shoes, and, believe it or not, that makes ALL the difference. Now I just can't go anywhere else, because it's clear that when I go to Wild Pear, I'm doing more than just buying shoes. I'm buying into a community of runners, and I'm buying into a store that isn't just trying to get my money, but actually _cares_ about my success in running. That, my friends, is not something you get everywhere. read more

There is so much to love about Wild Pear. The service is outstanding - they know their running shoes and are so helpful to make sure you find the perfect pair. They are local!!!! They price match!!! Wonderful service. Everyone was super friendly, especially the owner. He was very helpful. He told us the pros and cons of each pair of shoes that my husband picked and his personal experience about the shoes. He has a great business model. I went to Wild Pear yesterday to just try on a few shoes to get an idea of what I liked. Chris, the associate working, was very helpful. He did a brief gait analysis and then pulled 4 pair of shoes to start. He was so patient and understanding ( I have a very hard time making decisions). After trying on 8 different pair of shoes I finally chose one. I can not speak for the shoes just yet but I can tell you the customer service was excellent. Thank you! You've read the other 5 star reviews. Its as good, if not better. I drove 40 minutes from across town to get my boy fitted for a running shoe. The experience was so good, I too got myself a pair. Aside from all this, there is a sense of community here. We were all chatting away, joking with each other; it was a great place to hang out. It felt like walking into Cheers. Will I be back: yes. Will I recommend: yes. David/Cara, thanks for the great experience! We'll be back. read more

So pleased with Wild Pear. I am a newer runner. I went in looking for shoes; I came out with wise counsel for newbies, an invitation to community, AND shoes. This is not just a store to buy things at, but an opportunity to engage with experienced, wise locals in the running community on everything from proper shoe fit to how to build a training plan, how to grow in running, where to walk/run locally, how to know when you are going too hard, and more. The gait assessment was quite involved and I felt very confident that I bought the best shoes for me and for my needs. Did not for a moment feel belittled or less than as a newbie... felt encouraged and well equipped. Prices were more than reasonable. Service was great. SO glad I shopped local. My only "complaint" is I ended up with (partially) pink shoes ;-p but hey, practicing not being a princess. read more

When Wild Pear opened, I was not hopeful I could depend on a small-town store to live up to the service and selection I'm used to, dealing with the Luke's and Fleet Feet of Houston. I'm so glad to admit defeat. The owner, David, has spent most, if not all, of his career in the running business and is a passionate runner himself. In addition to being knowledgable about the sport, meeting customers "where they are" in their fitness and having a top-notch inventory, he is patient, fair, and has helped build a strong running community in Pearland. I now bypass the Houston running stores to give my support and dollars to Wild Pear, an asset to Pearland. read more

I always dread going shopping for running shoes because I know it's going to take all day & I always end up going home with nothing. Went to Wild Pear, they did a fair analysis, tried on three shoes, found the perfect ones, checked out and left. BEST RUNNING SHOES SHOPPING EXPERIENCE! Also, friendly staff! read more

I have been buying my shoes inside the loop for years. I stumbled across this place last week and I now have a new Go-to for running shoes. The owner was great and very helpful.
