I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse on March 20, 2026, around 2:00 p.m. I came in simply looking for shoes for myself and my children. While browsing in the kids' section, I noticed a woman, who later identified herself as the manager, following me around the store. After I moved to the back, she sat down and continued watching me for about 10 minutes while I shopped. I eventually approached her and asked if she was following or watching me. She said no. I then asked if she was the manager, and she confirmed that she was. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and told me I didn't need to know. As a Black college graduate, an English teacher, and a mother of three, I found this experience extremely upsetting and disrespectful. I was treated as if I were doing something wrong when I was simply shopping for my family. No customer should feel singled out or profiled in this way. I completed my purchase and left, but the entire situation left a lasting negative impression. What will change is the fact that I probably won't ever use their restrooms again and was really disappointed when I walked into the restroom yesterday. Before I even opened the door from the hall it smelled like your standard gas station bathroom that has more pee on the floors than actually lands in the toilet. I love shopping at DSW for the deals and variety they have. I'm a frequent shopper at locations all over Houston and the facilities have always been clean/well stocked. I could only give the Webster location 3 stars because the lines were long due to either understaffing or poor planning and the inability to use a discount I had attached to my account. The sales rep did not offer any solution to the issue at hand. I showed her my DSW app stating that I had a $5 dollar reward and she said she could only use the email. I do understand the limits they may face with the technology side of it, but it was a kind of uncomfortable experience. I have so many rewards available to me and nothing was said or done about it. I'm going to continue shopping at DSW, but if I have a coupon available to me, I'll probably just order what I want online and pick up in store. UPDATE: ordered some shoes online on a Friday for same day 4 hour pick up. Long story short, I was given the run around all weekend only to find out on Sunday that the shoes were stolen and my order would have to be canceled. Only pro is the fact that the manager offered to reorder them at the same price with free next day shipping. When reading this review, please keep in mind it is written by a man so I may not have all of my shoe terminology correct. I came into the store with my wife because she was looking for a silver 3" heel with an open toe and ankle strap. She found a couple of pair she liked and settled on a pair by Kelly & Katie. They were on sale for $39.99 but when we got to the register, they rang up for $49.99. My observant wife caught the mistake. The clerk double-checked and gave it to her at the correct price. This specific store has a very wide-range of shoes for women. In my browsing with her, I saw open toes, peep toes, platform pumps and platform ankle straps. A plethora of pumps and staggering stilettos. Wedges were mixed in the bunch as well as was the occasional kitten heel. I really didn't notice any Mary Janes but I wasn't really in the right section so they may have them. The majority of the heels were from 3 1/2" to 5". They also have several flats and athletic shoes although we didn't go down those aisles because she wasn't looking for that type of shoe so I didn't really notice what type or variety they had. Their selection of men's shoes was much less and the selection of brands was very limited. I primarily looked at dress shoes. The brands all seemed to be lower end brands: Stacy Adams, Clark, Kenneth Cole, and Florsheim. They had a limited number of Bostonian and only one style in Johnston & Murphy. I primarily wear Johnston & Murphy and was disappointed in the lack of selection. Even when I find styles I like, I typically have difficulty finding my size (13 or 14). For the bargain hunters, they do have an entire clearance section in the back of the store. Of course, the women's section is much larger than the men's and finding anything interesting on clearance in my size is always a challenge. Bottom line: A wide range of brands and styles for women. A decent selection of lower end brands for men as well. My wife found some she liked which is why we were there to begin with so we both left happy. read more

I looove shoes. Love 'em. Well most of them, the cute but completely uncomfortable ones can just go back to hell where they came from! Well then, back to the good shoes....DSW has a great selection. I never have any problem finding what I'm looking for, whether that be kid shoes, flats or pumps for works, a trendy slingback for a party, or a new pair of sexy "bedroom" heels. The prices are great, most heels for $40-70. The salespeople are actually courteous and attentive. Came here to do some light shoe shopping because let's be honest I don't really need more shoes but I could always use another pair of shoes. I've been really drawn to the new trend of pastel heels and I also went searching for an all purpose black heel that made my heart go pitter patter. Although I didn't purchase any shoes because when I get indecisive I buy nothing, I definitely enjoyed browsing the store and I did see maybe six or seven that really sent me into brief tachycardia ( the kind I get when I'm in love). I just couldn't make up my mind because I was also trying to be practical. I will definitely after shopping around at physical stores and online, be back to purchase a couple pairs. If you love shoes at a decent price then definitely browse the store. The selection is great and caters to different tastes and preferences. We waited over 20 minutes, with 5 people in line, one lady exchanging 6 pairs of shoes, buying 4 more, and searching for her coupon through the DSW system. The person I assume was the manager even came up to the registers with another management type, and they stood there and talked. I caught one of their red, and she said she had called someone up to the register to help. Once we were the next in line, around minute 18, another cashier came up. Then she just stood there, waiting to be told if she should open a register. Finally she did -- and by then there was nobody in line, and the first cashier was done with her customers. So ... 5 people in line, long wait, 1 cashier. Then no people in line, and 2 cashiers. Management at this store needs to go back to school on customer service. This is the go to shoe place for designer shoes. If you look hard enough through the hundreds of shoes they have on display, you will usually find a good deal. The shoes here range from running to club. They have it all, they also have a small men's section as well. They always have a clearance rack, however, don't expect to find steals all the time. My only complaints are they don't have enough shoes in the size 10 range...I know this is ginormous to most women but I also want to wear cute shoes like the rest of you. Also they do not seem to have enough mid-ranged priced running/sport shoes. All in all if you like shoes you will like DSW. read more

When I walked in here several weeks ago with my fiancee and daughter, I had never been inside a DSW before. This store is very organized, bright, and well ventilated. At four months pregnant, the first thing I did walking into the store was use the facilities, which an employee congenially directed me toward and which are very accommodating, clean and well-stocked. After about 20 minutes perusing the clearance section, I thought I had found the right pair at 40% off the original price to bring them to $20, when I stumbled across a really adorable pair of flats with a black and white paisley motif for $35. Lovely and cheerful miss Sarah checked me out at the register, where she also enrolled me into the DSW membership club via email. Unfortunately, it was my fault that I did not try them on before purchasing them. After wearing them for about 15 minutes one day, I realized they were far too tight on my left foot, which is strangely and irritatingly wider than my right foot, I realized they needed to be returned. Although I cannot recall the name of the attendant who processed my return, she was very helpful and made an exception to my return even though the shoes had been slightly worn. The debit/credit processing aspect of their computer system was down at the time, and the manager promptly allowed a refund in cash since the original purchase was made using my debit card. Overall, the store is very organized with a great selection of all types of shoes, including a hearty clearance section. The aisles are wide so that customers shouldn't bump into one another or the displays, and my daughter was not harranged by employees for skipping through the aisles. The customer service is remarkable, and the prices are reasonable. I look forward to purchasing a pair of boat shoes from them in the near future, and will make certain to try them on first before I commit to them! read more

Good prices but super annoying when you get to the register. They didn't have my size so I tried ordering it upfront at the counter. I had a Visa gift card so I wanted to use that gift card and the rest on my debit card. It took two people to help me try to use 2 cards and I still didn't end up being able to use the gift card. This store is like shoe heaven! I have a diehard shoe fetish and this is where I come to feed my never-ending appetite. My usual drill includes heading straight to the back to check out the sale shoes. I have small feet so it can be challenging for me to find shoes in other stores, but not here! Once I have investigated the sale racks thoroughly and made my selections (which fit very nicely in the black shopping bags they have for you at the end of the aisles) I then move onto the many aisles in the center of the store. I can literally spend hours in this place! Once I've seen everything or met my shoe budget for the day I head to the checkout counter. There are tons of shoe goodies in front of the register like tights and inserts and the employees there share my shoe obsession and are very helpful. Of course I use my rewards card every time because they mail you 5-10 dollar gift certificates as well as special coupons etc. This has been my go-to shoe store for years and I don't see that changing any time soon. read more
