Less gross than BrownStreet. GreenStreet is in downtown Houston and is sort of the wave of the future in terms of the way that downtown plazas in large Metropolises could be. It's clean and pristine and perfect and has a bunch of expensive stuff mixed up with a pretty cool Korean bakery bubble tea chain and some other interesting things. A little pricey and fancy which is the only reason I give it a 4 instead of 5. Plus if it had some free parking it would be that much better wouldn't it. read more

Finally! More reason to visit downtown during the safe sunny hours. The city, along with downtown neighbors, have been itching for the Houston Pavilions to open. Slowly, but surely, new businesses are opening their doors: clothing stores like XXI and BCBG, Books A Million, eateries like McCormick & Schmick's and plenty of others coming soon ... and not to forget House of Blues. Parking at the adjacent garages will only cost about five bucks, and there's always street parking (free after 6pm and on weekends). Or you can just take MetroRail for a buck and do a little tour-de-downtown. I'm looking forward to the opening of Lucky Strike bowling, as well as Hank's Ice Cream and Pete Dueling Piano Bar. 11/8/11. I recently got transferred to the building caddy corner from this place and would always see the book store and heard about this being some type of mall/pavilion related place. Before check in time I decided to venture further and see what all the ruckus was about and embarrassing to me I was wow'ed. LIke someone said, you would never imagine all that is back there from the street driving by unless you actually stopped in and walked around. Valet parking for whatever amount of money? Pfffft, I have a free garage card one block away at my new job so no problem here. I decided to brave the concrete wilderness that was rumored to harbour restaurants, shops etc. The rumors were right and the least I would have suspected as a freaking bowling ally in the middle of downtown! I can see where some people thought it was spooky but there were enough (about 3) "security) personnel in a stoic demeanor walking around doing what exactly I do not know but at least their presence was there. I think they were instructed not to crack a smile or something but that is ok, nice hats by the way. From where my office is I could only see there were two stories and only limited myself to the book store but tonight I found a third story. Also there is the company "NRG" which I suspect is your local villaneous "Reliant Energy" company because they take up a few floors in my building too at 1300 Main. I wonder if these are the creme of the creme employeess because they are very lucky to be in such a neat area. I mean there is this entrance that chances a couple of colors (I didn't stop to stare too long because I was getting some strange stares back) down a corridor. You can see from outside in which would be a little creepy if one were to worry about a stalker. I ventured on and found other businesses that really didn't tickle my curiosity fancy until I walked upon THE BOWLING ALLY. I walked inside and fell in love with it. There is a full bar on the right and the bowling ally on the left. Do any of you remember Big Texan Lanes on LIttle York a couple of decades ago? Yes, that was the last time I ever walked into a bowling ally and thought these things were supposed to be brightly lit. No sir re it was a little dark in there accented by a few red glowing accents that you know where you were exactly. I asked a few questions to find out I think was told that each game was $7.99 each, $4.50 for rental shoes or $45 per hour yikes! Thirty years ago I remember each game was about $3, damn did I just reveal my age abouts? o O. This pavilion stretches across several streets and at the end which I think is the East end will give you almost a throwing view to the Toyota Center and the Hilton of Americas. You can even see the George R Brown center peeking back at you like a few blocks back, that is how close the end of this place is. I like this place and am sure that I will get tired of walking up and down it but for now this is my new playground until I find another one around. This is a mall in downtown. The biggest store there is Forever XXI. That is 2 floor. The other stores in this mall are restaurants. yes there is a bowling place upstairs. Yes there is the Piano Bar. Not all stores are open here and it seems like it is still under construction in some parts. It is slowly being built. Overall, it is a nice star. read more

I saw this thing get built from the ground up - and it was annoying with the construction equipment and being re-routed all over the place. But it turns out it was worth it! This is a nice, clean, brand-new, pretty awesome addition to downtown. It is open air and multi-leveled so you can go explore and have fun while you do it. The skybridge over San Jacinto (above Guadalajara del Centro and III Forks) is fun - as is the Foundation Room of the House of Blues. It's not really going to beat the Galleria out in terms of shopping potential, but it is something worth taking out-of-towners to see. read more

This place is changing and becoming an amazing place I can't wait to see it all together in about a years time and see the new restaurants and business that will be here. It's a nice place to spend a day. You can come an have a coffee at Louie Coffee, eat lunch at Mia Bella, go shopping at Forever 21, go bowling at Lucky Strike and later hit up III Forks for dinner and catch a show at House of Blues. It's all together with some lovely landscaping, it's a beautiful place. read more

I'm shocked I never wrote a review of this place, ever since they decided to update this area I was excited. The city was going to be able to bring in an upscale bowling alley, a big music venue, new dueling piano bar, and many restaurants and shopping. The only problem was parking. Overall, it gives me a reason to bother going back downtown. read more

Love this place -- the parking garage is covered all the way up to the 7th floor, so if you get here late for work after 9pm, you're parking on the 8th floor roof and you'll get the weather there (ie, hot and or wet) The restaurants here are pretty good, with Mia Bella and III forks being two of my favourites. The Ladybird Taco Truck cruises by on Thursdays so be sure to get your fill of crack tots and tikka tacos then. I am happy that the owners decided to sell to a new management company -- This place USED to be Houston Pavilions and after watching Yao's close and Books a Million, something needed to be done to revitalize this downtown shopping space. Sure, there is House of Blues and Pets's Dueling Piano bar -- two fine places to go. But it needs more to attract business downtown. This space could use a facelift as well -- the closed businesses really detract from what could be a really awesome destination downtown. All in all, a pretty decent place for downtown -- just needs to attract more people and it will flourish. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Their only good store here is XXI. Why is the restroom on the third floor when every other store is on the 1st. On top of that, why must you have to take two elevators in order to get to the restroom! I came here on a Thursday and was looking for parking so to the garage we went. We were going to park metered parking but they had this sign out at the entrance saying something along the lines of "Make a purchase, get free parking". I had bought a dress at XXI and upon validation the clerk said "I'm sorry, we only validate on the weekends". THEN WHY PUT THE SIGN OUT AT THE ENTRANCE. Get your sh** together Houston Pavillions, no wonder this place was empty. read more

We have been to this mall area several times now with the same results. Most store are not even open yet and traffic is like a ghost town. Kind of sad! Parking is great! Even when it gets busy there are 8 floors of parking in the adjacent garage. Should not be a problem. There are some fantastic restaurants here: Yao's, III Forks, McCormick and Schmick, Guadalajara Del Centro, Mia Bella (?) Italian (I think that was the name) plus a few retail stores and of course The House of Blues! Why is it so quiet??? I hope it picks up because I would hate to lose this gem. read more

Great restaurants here, and this place is pretty safe in the shopping district of downtown, and worth checking out. The views over the downtown streets are really nice too. Parking is easy here because of the garage. It's also within a nice walking distance of The Shops at Houston Center. What has killed its huge shopper following is the fact that it has opened up too gradually, and people who visited early on don't remember much being open. A lot has changed. Yao Ming's restaurant has finally opened, and so has Lucky Strike. The more visitors, the more that will open there as well, so show up, and shop! read more

Not a whole lot to see here yet. There's the House of Blues, a couple of high-end restaurants and a Books-a-Million and XXI. I wanted to eat here when we passed for lunch, but instead moved on to the Park Shops. Maybe once this place fills out it will be a worthwhile stop; right now, it's a sprawling building without much in it. read more

I pity the developers of the Houston Pavilions, I really do. Here they are, putting their necks on the line to develop a brand-spankin' new commercial/retail center in downtown Houston (*gasp!* yes, that downtown!), and thus far it has failed so utterly it makes the 7000 point drop in the Dow look like a good investment. Only 60% of the development is currently under lease, which is absolutely pathetic for any major retail/commercial development, let alone one that is brand new. And it's a shame for the City of Houston, because it will only serve to further discourage downtown retail development. If only it had been done better . . . It's hard to tell whether the list of proposed tenants is wishful thinking or something that will actually happen. Heck, some of the stores that opened up a few months ago have already closed (i.e., Journeys and Lids). Oh, and waiting for that Lucky Strike to open? Better have a lot of free time lying around, as the company has put development plans completely on hold at the Pavilions. Understandably, many of the Pavilions' problems are related to bad-timing; I'm sure the developers didn't plan to open smack-dab in the middle of the most severe economic recession in 70 years. But still, others are fundamental--e.g., one of the problems universally pointed out by real estate developers and architects is that the Pavilions' design makes 90% of the stores completely invisible from the street, instead employing a central "spine" you have to walk through to figure out what's there--whose bright idea was that in a city that completely relies upon automobiles?! And convincing Houstonians to PAY for parking? We don't even pay to park at the Galleria, the flagship shopping mall in the city, so why would we pay to go to the Pavilions? Ugh, so much frustration with this place. But if there's a light at the end of the tunnel there are still the major anchors, i.e., House of Blues, Books-a-Million, and Forever 21, which, (not coincidentally) are visible from the street. Apparently the Forever 21 and the Books-a-Million are doing "OK" according to store management, but "corporate" only has patience for so long, and unless things pick up soon, those places are going to high-tail it out. As for all the restaurants moving in (which is the vast majority of tenants), only time will tell whether they actually open up and drive more traffic to the development; if they don't, the place is going to turn into a giant downtown flea market. read more

Unfortunately, after this covid epidemic, my 2 favorite retaurants were closed in Greenstreet...Mia Bella and its next door neighbor, the spanish tapas ...name I've forgotten. The food was good at both places but it was the atmosphere of Greenstreet that kept me going...the palm trees, the linear courtyard, the shade. Now, everyone's going to Post which is in competition with Greenstreet. I don't exactly know what will bring Greenstreet fully back to life even though the Laura Hotel, The Palm steakhouse and Lifetime fitness have revived it somewhat. There has always been a problem with street people and aggressive panhandlers around any place of business in Houston but perhaps people feel safer in the Post location as itis removed from the walking trails of the aggressive street people and panhandlers. I do feel that if Greenstreet management could get 3 or 4 restaurants back and open those outer brick walls that face the street with patio street seating and with ornate...not sterile...windows and window treatment, and put a police substation in also, that this may give it life again. Bayou Center, across from the Wortham is being renovated, which might also give Greenstreet competition... Management, you've made your Denver branch work and you have a good clientele down the street from the hotels; but now, of course, there's staggering inflation and the war. read more

McCormick and Schmicks has a great Happy Hour in the bar. 1/2 pound cheeseburger with fries for $2.95. Don't expect cheap drinks, but they have a good selection. Other bar foods for $1.95 and up. read more

This place is so, what's the word.....(thinking, thinking, thinking)....different. Personally, it doesn't feel like any other place in Houston (again I said personally). Its not much going on here, but i like it. in the actual Pavilion its self there is a Forever 21, a Books a million, a restaurant that the name isn't coming to mind (that i wouldn't mind attending), a bowling alley that isn't open yet (if I'm not mistaking) and at the end(depending on what side you started on) there is the House of Blues. The restaurant that i was referring to, had a mixer going on the day i went and had a live DJ playing music. Not sure what type of food they serve but doesn't look too kid friendly (and i had my son,so that day wasn't the day for us to stop in-but I will go return!). The over all feel of the place is weird but weird in a cool way! Its a place that i would go to read or if I'm downtown shopping, i would stop and rest THERE for a break. read more
