    Missy came to say hi
    Lindsey D.

So many great events here! Including a Pup squad event where we first met our sweet girl, black Labrador Missy! Missy loves this area and we came down here recently to reminisce and hang out. A wood stage, with fake grass in front, and Christmas trees. A little piece of peace in the midst of a chaotic downtown. FYI : Usually street parking is easy to find during the day on the weekends.

11/8/11. I recently got transferred to the building caddy corner from this place and would always see the book store and heard about this being some type of mall/pavilion related place. Before check in time I decided to venture further and see what all the ruckus was about and embarrassing to me I was wow'ed. LIke someone said, you would never imagine all that is back there from the street driving by unless you actually stopped in and walked around. Valet parking for whatever amount of money? Pfffft, I have a free garage card one block away at my new job so no problem here. I decided to brave the concrete wilderness that was rumored to harbour restaurants, shops etc. The rumors were right and the least I would have suspected as a freaking bowling ally in the middle of downtown! I can see where some people thought it was spooky but there were enough (about 3) "security) personnel in a stoic demeanor walking around doing what exactly I do not know but at least their presence was there. I think they were instructed not to crack a smile or something but that is ok, nice hats by the way. From where my office is I could only see there were two stories and only limited myself to the book store but tonight I found a third story. Also there is the company "NRG" which I suspect is your local villaneous "Reliant Energy" company because they take up a few floors in my building too at 1300 Main. I wonder if these are the creme of the creme employeess because they are very lucky to be in such a neat area. I mean there is this entrance that chances a couple of colors (I didn't stop to stare too long because I was getting some strange stares back) down a corridor. You can see from outside in which would be a little creepy if one were to worry about a stalker. I ventured on and found other businesses that really didn't tickle my curiosity fancy until I walked upon THE BOWLING ALLY. I walked inside and fell in love with it. There is a full bar on the right and the bowling ally on the left. Do any of you remember Big Texan Lanes on LIttle York a couple of decades ago? Yes, that was the last time I ever walked into a bowling ally and thought these things were supposed to be brightly lit. No sir re it was a little dark in there accented by a few red glowing accents that you know where you were exactly. I asked a few questions to find out I think was told that each game was $7.99 each, $4.50 for rental shoes or $45 per hour yikes! Thirty years ago I remember each game was about $3, damn did I just reveal my age abouts? o O. This pavilion stretches across several streets and at the end which I think is the East end will give you almost a throwing view to the Toyota Center and the Hilton of Americas. You can even see the George R Brown center peeking back at you like a few blocks back, that is how close the end of this place is. I like this place and am sure that I will get tired of walking up and down it but for now this is my new playground until I find another one around. Oh, I must add that it was kind of drizzling this day and since the ground is painted cement you will BUST YOUR A$$ if you are not careful

This is a mall in downtown. The biggest store there is Forever XXI. That is 2 floor. The other stores in this mall are restaurants. yes there is a bowling place upstairs. Yes there is the Piano Bar. Not all stores are open here and it seems like it is still under construction in some parts. It is slowly being built. Overall, it is a nice star.

Nice spot for pictures/selfies and great restaraunts! Thought there would be more shopping stores available but there wasn't just forever 21 we saw and a boutique maybe I wasn't sure what the business was and bathroom location sucks on third floor Over all a nice walk and place to go eat!

I opted to get a firm "standard" support backing to pair with my "lovesoft" seating. In my personal opinion so far, I would sink in a little too much with full lovesoft cushioning throughout the entire couch (seat and backing). The customer support that I received from the exemplary Lovesac team members like has been truly exceptional. Anthony especially has exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Anthony was fully transparent in the communication process from start to finish, attentive and thorough. Anthony created a very enjoyable customer service experience with all of the attention to detail, explanations of the configurations for the couch and understanding my various questions and concerns along with changing some of the items throughout my purchase. This store has truly created a welcoming environment with great associates. Anthony has been a perfect example of what a great customer service experience is! Highly recommend considering placing Anthony into a high level management position, communication has been a huge help. When I called to get further assistance if Anthony was unavailable Coco too stepped up to help me, great job and amazing team! The value of the product aligns with the price, the texture of the material I ordered combed chenille is supple and soft. I would highly recommend this store for all friends and family along with future purchasing for myself.

So, I've been on the hunt for a wooden table that I can refinish. I have a very specific place for…read moreit, but like Lebowski's rug, it's going to be one of those mythical pieces the "ties the room together." With that established, I'm not entirely certain what type or style of table I seek. Height's Common Market is chock-a-block full of furniture. It runs the gamut. Chairs, couches, lamps, beds, and yes tables of all varieties. All relatively inexpensive, but some pieces run a little pricey. From the exterior, it looks like an old flea market. The kind with rows of stalls, sawdust floors, and cantankerously old stall-minders. A place where you are convinced you'll find that mint condition, limited release record or the long lost pocket watch from The Gift of the Magi. Instead of finding that magical item, you go through each stall only to find ugly ceramic figurines of unicorns or dolphins. Thankfully, inside The Common Market, it's quite different. Lots of quality and a few "magically perfect" finds here. If looking for used furniture, this should definitely be one of your stops. The main room is a huge warehouse packed to the gills with furniture. Along one side there are a few rooms (watch your step up) with lamps, chairs, or a work room/repair shop. I never found the table I sought, however I'm closer on my path. I may venture back in a few weeks and find what I seek.

Every size, shape and thickness imaginable... but you can always have the piece re-sized for your needs. HCM always has, what looks to me, a lot of matching furniture that comes from closing businesses. (Think bank or hotel lobby.) So the durability and quality is there, but sometimes the look is... well, not. As for the non-business-looking stuff... most of it is awesome. You'll find ready to use furnishings as well as unique fixer-uppers. You can find bolts of fabric, both attractive and hideous, with which you can recover the lobby chairs! HCM is also a great place to find lamps and lamp shades, perfect for revamping according to your latest issue of DIY magazine. Word of advice: The more stuff you buy, Mr. A is more likely to cut you a great deal. Nothing is priced, so you'll have to ask the cost of anything you're interested in. Do NOT pay the first price he says. Find something else you like - 2 or 3 things, even if they're tiny knick knacks- and make an offer below his quote including both the little stuff & whatever he priced. If its reasonable, he's very likely to accept. HAPPY HUNTING!
