a bowl of soup on a table

The place has a nice rustic feel to it and looks like this place has been here for quite a while. The owner is very kind and nice and I want to support this place. We ordered 4 take out items (Sat morning): 1. Soup of the day - Cauliflower soup. It has strong cauliflower taste in the soup and the soup taste quite natural and creamy! I liked this 2. Chicken meat pie - it comes with a salad and the dressing tasted like the Japanese salad dressing you sometime may yourself familiar with, it's a good thing! Yummy! In terms of the pie, it's an average quality. I dont know if the pie is home made or bought, the pie crust is quite good and flakey but the chicken is abit dry. Also, the pie is warm on the outside but the middle is very cold (borderline to fridge cold) which feels like it wasn't warm long enough. Despite all that, the pie is still acceptable. 3. Smoke salmon bagel - the portion is generous with lots of avocado! The bagel is quite crunchy on the outside but very soft inside! Goes quite well with the cream cheese and the smoke salmon and the avo! I liked it! 4 cappuccino - to be honest, I wouldn't say this is a good cup but if u r not picky about coffee, it's an ok cup of coffee but nothing more. I think the choice of coffee bean is what saved this cup of coffee as it gives some nice nutty coffee flavor and aroma. We ordered with oak milk but the oat milk is not foamy and actually feel quite watery. Well you get some big bubble foam on top of the cup but coffee under those big foam, it's very watery and not creamy as I would expect. Also, I cannot taste any oat milk at all. Price wise is not too expensive, all these items together total to about $45 include tax and everything. All in all, I do like the soup, the side salad, and the salmon bagel... considering the good price, I would give it a borderline 4 stars. I would visit again.

On the Bean is a nice and cozy neighbourhood cafe. A coffee shop where everyone knows everyone! You can just chill here reading one of the hundred books they have, play broad games, surf the internet using free wifi, gossip with your friends, daydream on the patio and of course drink a cup of coffee.... Cappuccino ($3) and Americano ($2.25) both decently made, but I enjoyed my Americano a lot more! Hidden at the back of the plaza with limited open hours since it is a small family business by a nice Chinese couple! Homemade daily soups, today special: Butternut Squash, Hot and Sour and Chicken Wonton.

(Didn't know this till after I tasted the drink) I asked her why it isn't with the yellow mung beans she insisted this is the drink! There's a clear picture it's yellow mung beans not long rectangular coconut jelly! I had so look forward to coming for crepes and pho, but makes me doubt how authentic their food is if they can't even make the basic che dessert! The Che ba mau was disgustiing! Imagine coconut drink mixed with sour lime jello that's how it tasted! $9 for 2 drink seemed like a good deal but they have no idea how to make drinks!

I have been to this eatery a number of times over the years. It started off being Pho VietStar. The…read moresame owners had CrepeStar two doors down. They ended up buying the business between the two eateries, knocked down a couple of walls, and renamed the place CrepeStar Dessert Cafe and Bistro. This eatery is located at Aurora Shopping Centre. It's a plaza, so the name can be a bit misleading. There is plenty of parking. My orders have mostly been takeout. I came here a lot during the pandemic when you couldn't dine at restaurants. I have ordered a number of items for takeout, including the following: - Pork belly baos (two) that comes with fries - A side order of gravy - Chicken fresh rolls - Spicy grilled shrimp The pork belly baos were yummy! The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The pork belly was tender and flavourful. I would have put more protein in them, but they satisfied my craving for pork belly baos. If you have been reading my reviews for a bit, you'll know that fries aren't high on my list of sides. I'd rather get onion rings, a side salad, or sweet potato fries. However, I was game getting gravy. The fries taste homemade and weren't oily. You can see bits of potato skin on each fry. The gravy was perfect. It wasn't overly thick. It wasn't thin or salty. Just right. I enjoyed this combo. The fresh rolls are huge here! It was smart that they were separated by a banana leaf. The veggies here are amazingly crunchy and tasty. The vermicelli was done right. The chicken was tender and flavourful. Again, I feel that there could be more protein in it. Maybe I'm just a protein hog. The spicy grilled shrimp are yummy. They were plump and flavourful. My food was impeccably packed and tasted so fresh with every bite. I have dined in once. I had ordered grilled pork belly pho (P8). The owners advised that they were short on pork belly. I got steak, too! The pho here was fantastic. The broth was amazing. The pork belly and steak were tender and flavourful. I loved it! It comes in one size -- generous! I recently came here to pick up Krispy Kreme donuts. They were a part of the Best Buddies Prom drive. This charity that promotes inclusion by creating lasting one-to-one friendships between individuals living with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD and Autism Spectrum Disorder). The owners have an autistic son, so this charity drive was near and dear to them. I ordered a dozen donuts. They were ready for pickup at the end of February. I came here after work. It was easy to speak to a friendly male staffer and tell him my name. He immediately found my order and handed me my donuts. They were Krispy Kreme glaze donuts. You can't just have one. They were so fresh and yummy. Naturally, I looked at the Kawartha Lakes ice cream and sherbet flavours. I decided to get a cup of raspberry sherbet. The cup size was huge! I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked the nice man and headed to my car. I enjoyed my raspberry sherbet. It was delicious and refreshing. Kawartha Lakes does frozen treats right. It's a decent Vietnamese place in Aurora for good eats, which has rekindled my fondness for the town. The sherbet was excellent. I need to return and try the crepes next. (128)

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)

Tip: Mr Puffs has stuffed puffs…read more I had only been to two Mr Puffs locations in my life. The one that I have frequented the most is by my workplace. The other was its Lansdowne Park location in Ottawa. I will admit that I stopped going to the one by my workplace. I don't know why. I really should go back to my habit of getting a box of hot-out-of-the-fryer puffs after work. These days, I have been reacquainting myself with Aurora. On Saturday, I was driving up Bayview Avenue and noticed a Mr Puffs sign next to an A&W. These two eateries occupy the old Panera Bread store that stayed vacant for the longest time. It was nice to see it spruced up with new businesses. After having a late lunch, I had placed a takeout order for dinner. Yes, I don't skip a planning beat with meals... haha! While waiting for my takeout order, I felt the need to swing by this Mr Puffs location. It's in a plaza that I used to frequent often a good decade ago. The Sheridan Nurseries across from this business used to be Michael-Angelo's, a grocery store that I loved getting Portuguese custard tarts from. I found a parking spot fairly close to Mr Puffs. I parked my car and then headed over to the store. There are two sets of doors to go through before you see the counter. There was a woman with three kids in front of me. It was perfect to go through the menu. There were new offerings. You can get stuffed puffs now. I wanted my usual crispy-chewy puffs, but I was excited to see new items. It offers a Dubai series of items. I may need to do Dubai puffs next time. I wanted a light snack. I went with twelve puffs. The woman taking my order was helpful and nice. I got apple cinnamon and raspberry puffs. Both glazes are comforting and yummy. I frankly don't think there is a glaze that I despise. The choco series is yummy, too. She asked for my name for the order. I like that touch rather than employing a number system. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. This store is spacious and nice. There was a group of six folks sitting around a circular table. It almost looked like they were having a group therapy session with puffs. There was also seating where the kids and mom were. This store has a ton more seating here than the Dixie location in Mississauga and has a more relaxed atmosphere than the Lansdowne Park location. There were two orders ahead of me. I got to check out branded drinkware. Mr Puffs now offers spreads in jars, such as hazelnut, pistachio, choco-loco (hazelnut and white chocolate), and more. Nice! It was great seeing puffs made in front of my eyes. I watched a male staffer glaze a box of thirty puffs. Yum! The woman called my name. I was excited. I thanked her and wished her a good evening. She reciprocated. I safely secured my box of deliciousness in my car. I drove over to fetch my dinner order. Once I had that order in my car, I opened my Mr Puffs box to enjoy puffs that I haven't had in at least a year. I got fourteen of them. I always like when I get bonus puffs. I feel like I've won a jackpot of sorts. It's also nice that I got my favourite number of them. The puffs were heavenly. Crispy and chewy. The apple cinnamon had the perfect balance of apple goodness with comforting cinnamon. I appreciate that the glazes aren't too sweet. The raspberry was delicious. It looked like I had licked all the raspberry glaze at the bottom of the box when I was done. It was great enjoying some puffs again. I love this location. I'm not sure why the rating are so low. My experience was excellent, so maybe things have improved these days. (7)

I've ordered from this location three times now, and unfortunately, they've always forgotten something. Yesterday, I ordered the 30-puff box with Cappuccino Crisp and Hazelnut Biscotti, the worker even repeated my order. Since it was a gift, I didn't open the box to check. However, when we finally did, we realized the Hazelnut Biscotti topping was missing. Additionally, I wish they had checked the box for cleanliness before handing it off. When I got out of the car, I noticed chocolate on our white seats. Upon checking, I found a large smear of chocolate on the bottom of the box, which also got on my pants. Despite these mishaps, we did enjoy the puffs. We just wish all the toppings had been included as ordered and that the box was checked
