Great and very delicious place! We love their roast beef on a roll. It's very fresh with a good amount of meet.Roast beef is so tender and like melting in your mouth. Sometimes you wish that this roll will never end. Patlafrida burgers is also great. And if you will add roast beef to it will be even better. Also super friendly staff! read more

STATEN ISLAND, No need to go to Brooklyn anymore! On point every time! Legit place. Even ordering in the food is perfect

Been meaning to try this place for a while. Its claim to fame is that it's similar to the famous Roll n Roaster in Brooklyn Ny. I ordered the cheeseburger, the fries with cheese and the corn. Fritters I have to tell you everything was extremely similar except the french fries.. not bad and you saved me the toll to Brooklyn! You can dine in or take it out there's a bunch of tables available to sit. We loved it. We would definitely come back by the time we were leaving. It was getting a little more crowded but we enjoyed it. My cheeseburger was on point. My cheeseburger could've used more cheese. And the mozzarella sticks were ok, but overall everything was very good. read more

On A Roll is worth the trip from Brooklyn. Excellent food, awesome staff & owners. I tried their Fried Fish Sandwich- made with a large portion of flounder- so big- it sticks out of the roll! Got the extra cheese and On A Roll's famous "Circle Fries". Their brochure style menu includes the restaurant's history. YES... it has its roots in the original Roll N Roaster in Brooklyn; the founders of On A Roll are descendants of the original Roll N Roaster family. Like RnR -On A Roll is known for their roast beef, but the fish was most awesome. Highly recommended. read more

Very fast and friendly service & the food absolutely hit the spot. Definitely reminds me a lot of rollin roaster in Brooklyn which is a compliment in & of itself. Their roast beef was juicy & the fries were delightful. We'll definitely be making our way back here! read more

On A Roll - Hot Roast Beef with Gravy and Cheese - American Near Me - Staten Island, New York

I stopped by On a Roll, a supposedly affordable rip-off of Roll and Roaster, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The food was a major letdown. While the cheese fries were decent, the tiny cup of cheese that came with them was a joke. The roast beef with cheese was subpar, to say the least. The real issue, though, was the service and cleanliness. With only two employees visible, the tables were left dirty, and it seemed like they weren't exactly overwhelmed with customers. To top it off, they had the audacity to charge extra for using a credit card. The bathroom was also in need of some serious attention. The decor was passable, but it wasn't enough to save the experience. All in all, I'd recommend splurging on the "tolls" and heading to Roll and Roaster instead. Clearly the guy who responded to this review can't read this right, must be that glass eye Even threatening customers because of a review. What a professional, I mean clown read more

I order onion rings and roast beef for 15.00 the sandwich has like 2 slices of roast beef and onion rings tasted like fish. NEVER AGAIN read more

Food was great..... delivery was amazing quick fast and food arrived hot, even the fries Thank you so much Keep up the amazing job read more

I can attest to the rudeness of the employee who didnt bother to get off the line with Greg during our interaction. He was dismissive and not helpful at all. If it helps he has one blue eye and one brown eye. When I asked recommendations he was flippant. The tables appeared to be wiped down. The bathroom has a do not cross police like sticker tape on it to prevent non customers using it but it is very offputting for customers who legit paid for service. The guy behind the counter sneezed into his shirt twice and didnt sanitize or wash his hands which was interesting since he was so close to the food delivery station. I most likely would not return here if I didnt have multiple errands to run in this strip mall. The filet was disproportionate from the bun so more fish than bun. In addition I had to ask for a lemon wedge but they only did slices. Naturally would expect lemon with a fish sandwich. Underwhelming sauce on the fish sandwich. The fries were dangerously hot and the "cheese sauce" was the equivalent of velvet. I found it odd it wasn't place on top of the fries but I get speed trumps quality at this place. To be fair I got my meal under 5 minutes. The cod filet at alamo movie theatre was way better than this. This tasted like a Costco tilapia fried up too fast and fries with an inconsistent mandolin chopping job. Overall no one makes you feel welcomed or valued as a customer. Im expecting a wicked response from whoever manages this business account as I saw the lack of emotionally intelligence or business acumen from other responses that gave candid feedback. Won't return anyway but happy to chat on how to improve restaurant management of this particular location. I can't speak to how the whole franchise is run. No one acknowledged me cleaning up my own table even when the grey haired guy with black glasses was out front sipping from a cup. Overall the experience is sloppy and I dont need to see more. read more

Wow-the food was amazing! I worked at the Roll-N-Roaster in Staten Island many years ago. If you were a fan of the food back then, you'll love On A Roll. It took me back to how R-N-R used to be. Staff were very friendly as well. Highly recommended! read more

I placed an order from Yelp for pick up on my phone, and went inside and notified the staff I was there. They verified they received the order, and I sat down for a few minutes, and it was ready quickly. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I brought the food to Brooklyn to eat wife my wife, as I picked her up from her job. The roast beef sandwiches were great! Awesome bread, and the roast beef, tomatoes, lettuce were all very fresh! Thank you so much! We loved the food, and thanks to the nice staff too! Hope to see you again soon! read more

It was good. Service quick. Sandwich was messy. Appreciate the cottage fries. Gives off the Roll n Rooster vibes but the original will always be best read more

On A Roll - a close up of a sandwich in a styrofoam container - American Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Really great sandwiches and I like how their fries are shaped in little circles and you can control the salt levels since they come without salt! It's an easy and quick option at a good price! read more

The service was great. All the employees were nice. The place its self is small. The food was ok. My bun for my burger was ice cold. The burger was nothing crazy. I also order cheese fries. The gave me cup cheese instead of putting them on the fires. I can understand if you get it to go to do that but I was eating there. read more

Food was absolutely delicious. Had to order through DoorDash for pickup as required per their soft opening! They were working really hard to get everything done and no one is going to die from waiting an extra 10 minutes. BTW: IMHO the fries were identical to the Sheepshead Bay establishment... Official open date is expected to be 12/31/22. read more

On A Roll - Roast Beef and cheese with Cheese Fries - American Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Mediocre at best. Fries was good and that's it. The roast beef tasted beefy. Idk how to explain it but it wasn't good. Also they charge $1 for extra cheese cup. The "cup" is like a little cup you put ketchup in. The food was cold. The only decent thing was chicken tenders. They charge for every little thing. I wouldn't come back. I'd drive to roll n roasters in Brooklyn. read more

"This is the heart burn hotel, this is the heart burn hotel" are...are those not the correct lyrics?! Well, anyway when that came out was probably when I last had this type of nosh over at the R&R original. So here I am up at 1 AM paying the taxes on eating this stuff for din din at my age. Cannot comment on service or ambiance as hubby picked us up a roast beef, fries, and shrimp. Cheez on the side. Everything was great. I probably will not be learning any lessons here and will be doing take-out again, soon. read more

Definitely not like RNR is Brooklyn but it's a bit close. The circle fries are like the original RNR which I love, but the cheeseburger was really lacking quality. It wasn't fully cooked and the bread wasn't very good. It's a one and done for me and wouldn't return. read more

I was a bit skeptical at 1st being a long time customer of Roll n Roaster in Sheepshead bay but this place is AMAZING!!! From the roast beef sandwiches to the fries with I was in awe..No more rides to Brooklyn read more

So glad this place opened up! As an avid rnr girl, I'm glad this place opened up being I relocated from Brooklyn. The roast beef is great. Could use a little more gravy. Mozz sticks and corn fritters excellent. The fries are the original circle rnr fries. The bun I feel is a little different but just as yummy. Just waiting on a lemonade addition to the menu :) read more

Food A+++ Service A+++ Consistently good no hit or miss over here the only problem i ever have is do I do the cheeseburger or the roast beef ! You won't be upset read more

Very similar to rolling roaster in Brooklyn - but much closer and a better experience in my opinion. I should preface that I am not from NY, so I'm sure others will disagree with that but to me, it's a 10/10 and I won't drive further hahaha. read more

We could not stop eating. My kids were moaning while eating. Everything was delicious and we had everything. Better than Roll-A-Roaster in brooklyn. Keep it up read more

On A Roll - Corn fritters and roast beef with cheese - American Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Just as good as Brooklyn Roll n Roaster. Excellent cheeseburger and cheese fries. I'm glad I don't need to drive over Verrazano anymore.

First time and definitely not my last!!! It is without a doubt delicious to the very last bite. I had the roast beef and Gravy. The bun a 10, the roast beef a 10 the Gravy a 10 the fries a 10. Service is fast and friendly. A+++ We need one on the south shore. read more

Top notch customer service, they actually care about the orders they give out which is rare these days

The food was decent for the most part. I definitely don't recommend this place if you're vegan or vegetarian because they have no options at all. It definitely takes a while for them to prepare the order so order ahead so you can get good service or you'll be waiting for a while! The ambiance of the place isn't that great. It's a take out restaurant quite frankly so definitely not an eat in restaurant. read more

Small little spot, cute & cozy. Food was good. Came out fast. Definitely not RR, but close. They will get there eventually. I came when they firsts opened up and they were a bit of a mess, but it's cool they will get it together. Definitely a treat not having to go all the way to BK. read more

We have been wanting to try this place and so glad we did. The food was amazing! Perfect roast beef sandwich and you can get an unseeded bun !! The burgers are equally good..The corn fritters are my favorite. I also love that the fries are not too salty. The service is always good and food is ready very fast. I usually pre order on door dash and the. Pick up. It's always ready in 5to 10 minutes.I even tried the grilled chicken sandwich for a healthy choice and it tasted great ! read more

My brother and i were there Sat Oct 12 , heard great reviews especially from Sabrina and Guiseppi on tik tok, im a Brooklyn guy and for the money the Roast Beef and Burger were better than Brennan and Carr, fries weren't great but 5 stars from me read more

OMG... came here today because I heard it is just like my old stomping grounds of Roll-N-Roaster. I am a Brooklyn girl at heart, who works in Staten Island, but lives in New Jersey. Spoke to Nick and his wife, and I couldn't wait to get home to try the roast beef and fries with cheese. Needless to say my son, and I loved every single bite. I will be back for sure... Get used to seeing my face. read more

Excellent attempt to copy Roll n Roaster, Id say they are 90-95% there Rolls are not quite as crisp on the outside, fries are a bit greasy (but the original cottage). If you can't make it over the bridge, this is the closest I've ever seen to the original, only someone that's had the original a thousand times would know the differences. read more

Better then roll and roaster it taste like how roll and roaster used to be. This place is consistent. It's always good all the time and fresh. read more

ate there the other day had roast beef sandwich shared with my wife both of us got food poisoning incredibly bad. Ended up in the emergency room three days later, needed two bags of IV fluid. went through CAT scan and everything acute colitis from food poisoning. That sandwich was the only thing we had eaten that day. We got sick later on that evening no doubt in my mind where it came from and I've heard from about 15 to 20 other people they got sick from his food too. Reported to health department they are investigating diarrhea and vomiting for two weeks straight from this. They should be out of business. read more
