YES... it has its roots in the original Roll N Roaster in Brooklyn; the founders of On A Roll are descendants of the original Roll N Roaster family. Been meaning to try this place for a while. Its claim to fame is that it's similar to the famous Roll n Roaster in Brooklyn Ny. I ordered the cheeseburger, the fries with cheese and the corn. Fritters I have to tell you everything was extremely similar except the french fries.. not bad and you saved me the toll to Brooklyn! You can dine in or take it out there's a bunch of tables available to sit. We loved it. We would definitely come back by the time we were leaving. It was getting a little more crowded but we enjoyed it. My cheeseburger was on point. My cheeseburger could've used more cheese. And the mozzarella sticks were ok, but overall everything was very good. read more

I stopped by On a Roll, a supposedly affordable rip-off of Roll and Roaster, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The food was a major letdown. While the cheese fries were decent, the tiny cup of cheese that came with them was a joke. The roast beef with cheese was subpar, to say the least. The real issue, though, was the service and cleanliness. With only two employees visible, the tables were left dirty, and it seemed like they weren't exactly overwhelmed with customers. To top it off, they had the audacity to charge extra for using a credit card. The bathroom was also in need of some serious attention. The decor was passable, but it wasn't enough to save the experience. All in all, I'd recommend splurging on the "tolls" and heading to Roll and Roaster instead. I can attest to the rudeness of the employee who didnt bother to get off the line with Greg during our interaction. He was dismissive and not helpful at all. If it helps he has one blue eye and one brown eye. When I asked recommendations he was flippant. The tables appeared to be wiped down. The bathroom has a do not cross police like sticker tape on it to prevent non customers using it but it is very offputting for customers who legit paid for service. The guy behind the counter sneezed into his shirt twice and didnt sanitize or wash his hands which was interesting since he was so close to the food delivery station. I most likely would not return here if I didnt have multiple errands to run in this strip mall. The filet was disproportionate from the bun so more fish than bun. In addition I had to ask for a lemon wedge but they only did slices. Naturally would expect lemon with a fish sandwich. Underwhelming sauce on the fish sandwich. The fries were dangerously hot and the "cheese sauce" was the equivalent of velvet. I found it odd it wasn't place on top of the fries but I get speed trumps quality at this place. To be fair I got my meal under 5 minutes. The cod filet at alamo movie theatre was way better than this. This tasted like a Costco tilapia fried up too fast and fries with an inconsistent mandolin chopping job. Overall no one makes you feel welcomed or valued as a customer. Im expecting a wicked response from whoever manages this business account as I saw the lack of emotionally intelligence or business acumen from other responses that gave candid feedback. Won't return anyway but happy to chat on how to improve restaurant management of this particular location. I can't speak to how the whole franchise is run. No one acknowledged me cleaning up my own table even when the grey haired guy with black glasses was out front sipping from a cup. I placed an order from Yelp for pick up on my phone, and went inside and notified the staff I was there. They verified they received the order, and I sat down for a few minutes, and it was ready quickly. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I brought the food to Brooklyn to eat wife my wife, as I picked her up from her job. The roast beef sandwiches were great! Awesome bread, and the roast beef, tomatoes, lettuce were all very fresh! Excellent attempt to copy Roll n Roaster, Id say they are 90-95% there Rolls are not quite as crisp on the outside, fries are a bit greasy (but the original cottage). If you can't make it over the bridge, this is the closest I've ever seen to the original, only someone that's had the original a thousand times would know the differences. read more

ate there the other day had roast beef sandwich shared with my wife both of us got food poisoning incredibly bad. Ended up in the emergency room three days later, needed two bags of IV fluid. went through CAT scan and everything acute colitis from food poisoning. That sandwich was the only thing we had eaten that day. We got sick later on that evening no doubt in my mind where it came from and I've heard from about 15 to 20 other people they got sick from his food too. Reported to health department they are investigating diarrhea and vomiting for two weeks straight from this. They should be out of business. read more
