I was craving some sushi and was around the area so i decided to drop by, considering all the good reviews on this place. i got to say that i was very disappointed in my first visit here today. Minus the 2 other couple that was here, this place was totally empty which is not what i expected for a high rated place, but not a big deal. The place was nice and clean. The servicers were nice and attentive. The food however, was what disappointed me. I got an omega roll, spicy tuna, and scallop roll. The salmon was soft and seemed like it was a few days old, nearing expiration. The spicy tuna and the scallop roll was mostly fried fillers with a little bit of the tuna or scallop in it. The wasabi looked like old playdoh. I dont know, maybe I just came in on an off day but I have had more enjoyable sushi from heinens, which is really sad. read more

Went for lunch on Sunday with four adults and a baby. Beautiful decorations, good spacing between tables, plenty of room at one of the rear round tables. Our server Efia was friendly and efficient (she kept patting the baby). Ordered a Philly Roll, 2 Hibachi Chicken, Hibachi Steak, and my Chirashi. Stumbled upon this place after Yelp recommended it and our usual sushi joint was closed on Sunday AM, and WOAH were my boyfriend and I impressed. Upon entering, they've got this cool bubbly color changing wall which is mesmerizing and appeals to my easily amused soul. The menu was ample in selection and service was prompt. This restaurant is open during Covid. They practice social distancing, and are only seating at every other table. The food and drinks were actually really good, and the menu is very extensive -- everybody should be able to find an option. Vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten free, dairy free. They do have gluten free soy sauce and can make their hibachi dishes and soy sauce side gluten free. Most of our experience was good, however, it took us 30 minutes and 3 different waitresses to get to the bottom of their gluten free menu. We had initially asked for GF recommendations, and they didn't fully understand what we were asking for. At one point, the waitress turned to me and asked what soups on the menu I thought I could have. That was a bit frustrating, as I have no idea what's in their food. But, after asking two more times, she was finally able to come back and tell me what I could eat. I will say -- I haven't had a hibachi style dinner in over a decade since I went gluten free, and it was DELICIOUS! So this is a very unique place for Parma - especially for the plaza it's in. Inside is very clean, and very well lit with beautiful lighting. A very modern looking sushi bar (with a full bar might I add). I live in Parma, near Tri-C, and I've been driving to Middleburg Heights for sushi, so this is a small blessing. Overall, I think the sushi is comparative to Umi's in MH, and Samurai in Strongsville (if you've ever been to either - especially the way they batter their deep fried rolls). Fish tastes fresh and the sushi pieces were a little bigger than average size. Two special rolls were able to feed me and my boyfriend. We got the Penguin Roll and the American Dream Roll. Miso soup was a little bland for my taste, and the Kani salad was a little to mayo-y. They serve mochi ice cream, which is great treat, and they gave us banana tempura on the house, which was also great. Service was standard, but the staff was very nice and kept our table cleared as we ordered more food. I really like the menus - you see actual photos of the roll before you purchase so you can see exactly what you're getting into. Overall, I think this will be our new Parma sushi spot - comparative from others by location, price, and taste. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to try. read more

This place was a fantastic find! Thank you Yelp for sending me the new business notification when it opened! I remembered this place opened after the usual sushi spot-Mizu was found to not open until 4 pm on a Sunday. Unfortunately the g.f. and I were there just after noon. Mizu's loss was Omizu's gain that day. We wanted sushi and weren't necessarily looking for a buffet so Omizu won out. Parma is quickly becoming a dynamic sushi destination. Who would of guessed? They have the north, east and now south end of the city covered with good sushi stops. We met owner Jerry at Omizu. What a great guy! Such a gracious owner! Wishing you as much success in Parma as Youngstown & Canfield. Beyond delicious sushi and beverages, Omizu has has a very hip, contemporary vibe with LED lighting and bubbling water with a full bar next to the sushi bar. Instead of a partial wall separating the bar and restaurant Omizu has a cool plexiglass wall filled with plastic fish floating around bubbling water. Ok, maybe it sounds silly but the totality of the decor amounted to a feeling well beyond just a shopping plaza experience. Seating was comfortable in the restaurant when we were led to a well cushioned booth. After dinner we migrated to the bar for additional drinks. The Mizu drink was delicious! Jerry told us the history of that NYC borne delight with cucumbers, cucumber sake and cucumber vodka! That drink is worth the price! This two-star review is the net result of two very different experiences at Omizu. Our first experience was on a random weekday evening for dinner, and everything went very smoothly. Service was prompt and friendly, and food and drinks were delicious. Absolutely one of the better sushi places in this part of Cleveland. However, our second experience only lasted about 15-20 minutes. It was a busy Friday evening, and the restaurant was severely understaffed. I am placing absolutely no blame on the employees themselves, as they were all trying their absolute hardest to keep up with every last guest. I didn't see one Asian person in the restaurant, and there's a reason... everything is just so.. meehhh... the flavor is weak and and not meant for palates used to Asian flavors. Trust me, I've traveled Asia and ate there very extensively. I ordered a Tom Yam soup, hopefully to reminisce about my travels and I was so horribly disappointed. The most iconic flavor of Tom yum (or Tom Yam) is the lemongrass, lime, and the su tle tomato. How they managed to leave out all of the flavors is beyond me, also their salt supplier must be on strike or something because none of the food had enough salt. I had to take it home to try to rescue it, I fortunately am not a large business selling "authentic" Asian food and do actually have all the ingredients on hand. The sushi rolls, while delicious were very tiny. If you want decent budget sushi go to samurai in strongsville, if you want good sushi period, go to mizu sushi on brookpark rd. My wife's teriyaki chicken came out drenched in sauce, yet, somehow dryer than a Baptist wedding. They did have a redeeming quality, the service was pretty good. And the water with ice my wife ordered came out exactly how she liked it. UPDATE: So I took the Tom yum soup hk.e and squeezed I half a lime, added some fresh ginger and lemongrass, some garlic powder and salt, let it simmer a bit and you know what? I walked into Omizu Japanese Restaurant for a food shoot and was greeted by a very friendly hostess and she invited me right in. The owner was just as friendly and excited to share his food for this project. The decour and atmosphere was clean and modern and the wall of bubbles and colored lights was pretty cool. The smell of sandalwood is a nice touch. I was pleasantly surprised on how beautifully the food was plated. We eat with our eyes first and the details of each plate was spot on. We made some great photographs. The Seafood Soup and Hibachi Combo where delicious, fresh and flavorful. Great sushi for a great price! My husband and I were in the area for a weekend getaway, and I was craving sushi. The options seemed to be a bit limited, but I found this place on Yelp, and we decided to give it a try. The place is brand new, so everything is perfect and shiny. The decor is nice. There is a faux fish tank water feature that walks the line between corny and mesmerizing. In the end I decided I liked it. As for our food: I ordered a rainbow roll with salmon and tuna only, and a bowl of clear soup. Both were quite delicious. The clear soup was your typical clear soup. The sushi was so fresh. None of the fishy/ocean taste that you sometimes get with subpar sushi places. My husband ordered a spicy salmon roll. He said t was good, but not spicy at all (he likes things very spicy). He also had the teriyaki chicken entree which came with a salad, miso soup, grilled veggies and steamed rice. He really liked it - everything was cooked well. The glaze on the teriyaki chicken was seared and caramelized just enough. I tasted a a bite of the teriyaki chicken with the grilled onions and decided I would order that next time as well. Also, the portion was HUGE. More than enough food at a very fair price. We also split an order of the tamago sushi. If I didn't find this place on Yelp, I would never have walked into it. It is in a little strip next to a LOUD sport bar and does not have the exterior of Sake or Shinto but where it lacks location it more than makes up in service and food quality! The interior decorations are very modern and has a nice separator (bubble wall) between the sushi bar and the rest of the restaurant. Everyone seems happy to be there and very helpful, the drink specials and over sushi cost is priced well. We went for sushi only and we are VERY picky however were very happy with some of their signature rolls. The Snow Mountain and Super Tempura rolls were fantastic however the spicy tuna and California rolls were lacking in the rice category. Overall great place and we will be back! read more

My husband had them delivered to work a few weeks ago and it was all he could talk about, so when we were in the area today we decided to stop in for a quick bite. Wow! I haven't had a ton of sushi, but I've had enough to know quality from not. This place is on point. From quality of ingredients and layers of flavor, to presentation and service! Also, pretty inexpensive for how upscale the food is. We tried three rolls and that was enough to leave us full. We had the California roll, the shrimp tempura roll and the green roll. We did have to overindulge though, when we noticed fried cheesecake on the menu and I am so glad we did. When you think of fried anything, you think greasy, nope, this was the most perfectly crunchy, light and airy batter, with a creamy cheesecake center and one bite was the most delicious guilty pleasure I could think of. My girlfriend ordered the hibachi lunch, which was a great size for the cheaper lunch price. The veggie mix was dominated by zucchini and left little mushroom to be desired, however it was still very good. The fried rice was egg heavy and tasted like a mix of other foods they had cooked on the grill. We would recommend sticking to the steamed rice instead. My husband and I decided to come here last minute from seeing all the reviews on yelp. We walked in on tuesday at 6:30pm and were seated right away. It wasn't busy, maybe 5 tables taken and it is a cute restaurant. However, we were not acknowledged for at least 15 minutes after being seated. We asked about any specials but there were no specials or half off specials like many other sushi restaurants in the area. After we ordered, it took another 30 minutes for the 2 rolls to come out. The meal came with a salad and miso soup, which was also a surprise but very welcome. The price was very reasonable. The shrimp tempura roll was very tasty but I was blown away by the yaki soba.
