So I was surprise to learn from Dr. McPherson that he could treat my torn leg muscles as well. After suffering for over 6 months and not knowing what to do, Dr. McPherson came to my rescue and my leg became progressively better and I was able to dance again without pain. Dr. McPherson was very patient and addressed my whole body in the process of healing my leg. I never felt like I was being rushed out of the office until all my issues were addressed. He used a multitude of therapies including ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, massage and back adjustments to speed up my healing process. I wasn't nickel and dime for extra therapies and appointments were usually available the same day you need it. Man, getting your back adjusted is like drive thru massage therapy. In one split second, all your tension vanishes. Love massage therapy for the experience, but back adjustments seems so much more effective in releasing tension. The bonus is, you don't have to lie in one position and in the process get all tense in one area or the other. Dr. McPherson also dealt with my occasional neck problems very effectively as well. Called and then text, I was able to get an appointment the following week. The massage office is extremely clean and very Zen. Before we started Rusty went over a couple of questions regarding my health and also the location of my pain points. I really appreciate it him speaking to me and getting a thorough assessment prior to the massage. After he started he did take time to explain some of the methods and fascia manipulation techniques he was using. he combined several techniques some of which I have had experienced in the past. he worked very systematically and putting extra attention on all the pain points that I have pointed out before. he was very knowledgeable and very efficient at his craft. Backstory: I really messed up my back in my early twenties and had achy back pain no problem I was young and could handle it. Fast forward to recently about 4-5 years ago I get diagnosed with degenerative disk disease. I have two bulging verts. and one herniated one. My doctors treated me, but 'Take two Motrins every 4-6 hours and call me in a couple weeks' became the refrain. Such attitudes prompted me to grit my teeth and bear it, resigned to live with pains that they implied are chimerical. Then I met Jason. He begins each session with a simple question: how are you feeling? Sounds obvious, I know, but he actually listens closely to determine which ache or pain can benefit most from treatment in the time available. This in turn increased my own 'tuning in' to my body, a self-awareness I now realize pain-killers interfered with. Sometimes his sense of what work is best borders on intuitive. I went in with mild back pain and he suddenly asked if I'd had any headaches lately. I realized, yes, I'd suffered one of those low-grade, throbbing, grouchy-mood-inducing headaches for a couple of days without even thinking about it. 30 minutes of massage and it vanished! Disappeared! Jason's nonchalant about it, but I find this downright shocking and sort of magical. Besides the traditional deep tissue massage he also uses Rossiter. This involves being stepped on. But he is so careful and solicitous of your comfort level and pressure threshold, it's not scary at all, and it's very effective. When I need a swift antidote I know with certainty half an hour with Jason will provide results. Pain dissipates and I feel looser and bouncier. No pills! No hot and cold packs, analgesic patches, stupidly-shaped cumbersome massage implements or other such silly accoutrements. He also freely dispenses techniques for home pain relief.
