I am a regular at Del Mar Nails. I see Sophie for great dip powder manicures, but on her day off, I have had others do it for me equally well. This is the only local salon that does not use LED lights (which cause me to have an allergic reaction) for the final coat. This is our go to place for nails. I always have Kim (the owner) do my dip nails and then Kimmy does mine and my daughter pedicures. They always come out perfect and last such a long time. We can usually go a month or more before having to have them done again. That's how good the quality is! Kim, Kimmy and the entire staff are always attentive to the needs of their clients. Offering water and such. The music and TV shows they have a great. It's always calm and a nice place to relax while getting our nails done. I really can't say enough good things about this salon. The experience I had was incredibly disappointing and disrespectful. The nail techs were openly rude and made snide remarks in their native language, unaware that I actually understood every word. They tried to upsell unnecessarily, made snide comments, and even criticized the nail color we selected, calling it "ugly." If the color is so awful, why even offer it in your salon? No one deserves to be disrespected while paying for a service. There are plenty of other salons where the staff are kind, professional, and don't mock their customers behind their backs. Rude. Worst manicure I have ever had. Terrible service Pedicure was fine but the manicure is another story. Tracy ( at least that was the name on the gel light she used) was not nice. She had an attitude and rather than listening to my requests, she shut me down in a dismissive manner and talked in her native language to her colleagues and then laughed. No lotion used instead she dumped oil on my hands, no massage and when I asked to wash my greasy hands, instead of a sink, she made me bend over to wash in the pedicure bowl. One last thing, I had to ask her at the end to please clean under my finger nails ( which is a very basic part of a manicure). Also there was some creative accounting when it came time to pay. I followed them to their new salon from Scripps Ranch because of their impeccable service, attention to detail, friendliness, and their talent to make my nails last for 3-4 weeks in between fills. I always had problems with my nails lifting and having to get them done less than every two weeks, but since Kim has been doing them for a decade- they look beautiful and last for at least 3-4 weeks. I asked for simple pedi, just wanted my feet scrubbed and nail colored. Told the lady more than once NO MASSAGE, just clean and color. The darn thing took over an hour!! And applying the color she made a mess. I was just fed up and ready to go. $42 I paid, and was asked how could they fix it. Sadly I was already running late and the only way of fixing it wouldve been removing the color and reapplying but I didnt have the time. A discount wouldve been nice too. My friend and I went here to get manicures. We picked from the samples and chose a pink ombré color that turns to white, and had a light shimmery top coat. We asked how long it would take because we had a tight schedule and they said about 30-40 minutes. It took much much longer, clocking in at 70 minutes and neither one of us got nails that matched the sample they had in their salon. My nails ended up looking like a disco ball absolutely caked with glitter, and my friend's nails looked like pink and white candy corn (not ombré in the slightest). My manicurist kept assuring me that the glitter wouldn't look as noticeable when she was done, but alas, it covered most of my nails!!! Definitely not worth the $50 plus tip per manicure. I ended up having to get my gels taken off at a different place because they looked like nails a 5 year old would get! read more

Seriously can't say enough about this place. I came here for the first time with my grandma and mom to get a pedicure. My grandma has some mobility issues and had never gotten a pedicure in her life! The staff were so nice to us and very accommodating to our situation. I also love the massage chairs here. The staff were careful to check in and make sure everything was ok.
