I came to eat here with a small group of 5 friends and informed our waiter that we would be needing separate checks right away, I ordered a bagel with avocado and a side of potatoes. My total coming to around $14. I paid with my card but left a cash tip. When I returned home I came to see that I was charged $20 dollars for my meal. I called the restaurant the next day to figure out why that had happened and they informed me that "this happens a lot". Even though this is in walking distance to our office we have only been here about a half dozen times when business associates wanted to have a breakfast or lunch meeting and suggested the Omelette Express. Pedestrian food and half way decent service is my opinion. The ambiance is awful to carry on any meeting because if more than a dozen people show up for food the noise level because of the acoustics prevent any kind of normal conversation. This last time I ordered eggs Benedict which was below par. Dried out stale muffin wasn't helped by the off tasting hollendaise sauce and overcooked egg. The other guests were happy but not impressed with their dishes either. The only saving grace was the coffee was hot and plentiful. I really don't know why this place is packed on the weekends other than there are few places to go around the area for breakfast. All in all, I wish it was better, if it was I would try it for breakfast more often, as opposed to the place next to Starbucks which I think is better. I guess you like railroad station motif and dishes named after trains stuff you would love Omelette Express. read more

This place is our breakfast spot. Unlike some of the less complimentary reviews, I have always had good food here - although to be fair, I almost always order the same thing. But it is consistently good. Their portions are huge, and they have the best toast! However I wish they would use fresh avocado instead of guacamole that is probably prefrozen. And what place known for their breakfast menu doesn't serve pancakes??? Their french toast is average, just sliced bread dipped in an egg mixture. They should experiment using their delicious sourdough toast to make French toast. It would be much more exciting. For pancakes or French toast, try Skillets in the Raley's shopping center. I have only been to their Santa Rosa location a few times, but I much prefer the one in Windsor. The food is probably comparable, but in my experience the service is significantly better. read more

Advised to come here by prior reviews and friends. Kicked off w cappuccino for me and wife. Tasty but mini. Wife: "cappuccino shud come in a bowl, not a shot glass." Especially for $3.75 i say. Breakfast (Omelet #7) was tasty but the portions were not generous as others have noted - maybe 3 star quality. The service was definitely 1 star - the waitress was friendly but spaced out and let our hot breakfast cool on the counter and it wasn't until we just plain asked if we could just get our food ourselves that she woke up and started to serve us. We came here for Father's Day brunch before spending a day out in Santa Rosa perusing their downtown. I yelped to see their reviews, it scored 4 1/2 stars, so we checked it out. The place was packed, the owner came outside the restaurant and took down names - nice touch. He's friendly and greets everyone with a smile; he recommended the burgers. The food was decent, our son's simple kids meal came out last; although, our waitress reassured him it would come out soon. Luckily, he had his DS to distract him from hunger after seeing our food. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on wheat, it was quite skimpy - don't expect it to fill you up. I could have bought a cheaper (larger) sandwich at Subway for $5. Their freshly made OJ was super small, I'm glad I didn't order the mimosa. My husband's burger was okay, nothing to brag about. Worst breakfast place ever. I don't understand how this can be the "to go restaurant" for anyone as one person wrote. The menu was great - it ranged from breakfast foods to sandwiches and burgers. Even salads. The servers were all pretty young girls that were attentive. The food was horrible however. My brother-in-law ordered Eggs Benedict - the potatoes were cold and were drenched in oil. The food was very bland. I ordered their only chicken sandwich while my boyfriend and his sister ordered turkey sandwiches. All of the food had no flavor whatsoever. My chicken tasted like it was frozen, no seasoning was added. A piece of cheese was slapped on the sandwich and that was it. The potato salad was disgusting! I had to add salt and pepper to the potato salad to make it somewhat bearable. Don't go here. Yes, the waitresses are pretty. Yes, the menu seems good. But who cares if the food is bland? read more

Great Service, Sarah was awesome and a good listener knowing we had to eat and get back on road. Food was super yummy, omelets fluffy and filled generously with likings. Potatoes very tasty too, sour dough bread to die for, nice and thick to help soak the wine from night before. I gave them another try after a bad experience a year ago and was again very disappointed. I ordered the egg Benedict and crunchy muffins. What I got was crunchy dry muffins and eggs that were full of water and hard boiled. No yolk!! When I cut into the egg, it soaked The whole plate with water. Ok, I can't believe this place doesn't get 5 stars from everybody. Every time I go to Omelette Express in Windsor, the food is great, the place is super clean, the servers are friendly, and sometimes the cooks even come out, smile, and make sure that everything was ok. Not sure why anyone that isn't really into omeletess would even consider reviewing an omelette restaurant, so my advice is to disregard those reviews! Yes, it is their menu, therefore their own combinations, but they will let you add or subtract from it. Seriously, they serve great food and good size portions. You definitely get a good deal here, especially considering Healdsburg's prices, the next town a couple miles north. read more

We were visiting from MI and saw an ad for this place in a brochure at the condo we were staying at. Decided to give it a try because it was close. DELICIOUS!! Their menu has a variety of Omelette's options like I've never seen before. I had the bacon, avocado, tomato and cheese omelette and my husband had shrimp, bacon, spinach and pepper jack cheese. They give you a large piece of sourdough bread that is amazing and they had a nice tea selection as well. Yes they don't have a lot of other breakfast options but its called Omelette express for a reason. The service was nice, food was prepared quickly and the restaurant was clean. What more could you ask for?! The price per Omelette was around $10-12 but the portions are huge! I could only eat half of mine and it was still good reheated the next day. We definitely recommend it and will most likely go back again this trip. read more

Others had the anchovy/spinach (salty, as you can imagine, but good); the bacon/avocado (she thought she tasted a slight fish taste perhaps because of the above-mentioned anchovy omelette, but wasn't sure) and the bacon/Spanish sauce. After becoming a regular of omelette express over the last couple of years I have had my last meal here. We came in on a slow Sunday afternoon and found the place near empty. There were 5 waitresses working; all who seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving our table. Water glass sat empty for 10 min while the servers chatted. Food was okay, the ham on my eggs Benedict had tons of gristle. When our server came to deliver the check she noticed my empty water glass and all she had to say was "oh" and another server refilled it. The daily "special" was biscuits and gravy, and had 2 tiny biscuits that were flavorless (my husband said worst biscuits he's ever had!) but gravy was OK. I will say my son's omelette was pretty good, and we all liked the home fries. Service was average. We eat out a lot and don't mind paying for good food. Pretty disappointed. When you see your potatoes dumped out of a grungy yellow 5 gallon bucket onto the cook top it takes the romance right out of going out to breakfast. The food was pretty tasteless and plain! I got ham, eggs, potatoes and English muffins, so I can't speak for the omelettes. The portions are large, so it does the trick of filling you up but that's it. I'm big on ambiance in a restaurant and it was stark and cafeteria like, the Santa Rosa Omelette Express has more character. I will say however that the service was good. Okay - one of the cleanest kitchens I've ever seen at a restaurant establishment. One star for that alone. Service was great - helpful and chatty without yakking your ear off. Got water and coffee/juice right away. My friend ordered the veggie benedict and I ordered the eggs ranchero. The veggie benedict was REALLY GOOD. The hollandaise sauce was very much to my liking. The eggs were poached beautifully and the overall flavors very delicious. The eggs ranchero were great. Nice helping of salsa, sour cream, guacamole... not too greasy. The toast that came with the ranchero dish was wonderful! Thick slab of soft, airy and light wheat bread. YUM. Could eat a loaf of that all by itself. Was this the best breakfast ever? No. But it was damn good and they refilled my coffee, brought out tabasco sauce without me having to ask and did I mention a ridiculously clean kitchen??? A winner for sure. Sad and glad that I don't have a reason to go there more often. Sad cuz I'll miss out on the bread. Glad because I think my waistline would be suffering if I could have breakfast like that all the time. read more

I was up in the area again, and we couldn't resist coming back! This time, I tried a side of corned beef hash and a side of French toast. I was happy with my selection. Hash has a nice crisp top, not too salty, and a great savoury flavour. The French toast had powdered sugar and cinnamon, not too much butter, and not too much egg, and still thin sliced. Great service, very attentive waitress, especially with a large party. I wished there was more parking. I hope to return! read more
