I am staying in a hotel on Ogden. I was cruising yesterday looking for a place to get a burger cooked to medium rare. So, I was looking througjh the menu, and happened to skim through a few reviews. How interesting, does the owner know who he has in charge of this facility? He would not allow a dog, a service dog, to enter the restaurant. Police told him he was violating the law and this jackass argued with the police about letting the dog enter. If the young lady went in the restaurant, without the service dog, and had a cardiac crisis, I have a feeling the owner would be put out of his own restaurant. Then another story about the manager hassling a woman who placed an order for cod, but received something else. However the order went, the manager insisted she ordered meat, and not cod. What a jerk. I will find another place ti eat. read more

Fine for omnivore, barely okay for vegetarians and nothing for vegans. They do offer alcohol, which is a plus. My husband had the Red, White and Bleu Sandwich at an outrageous $16. It came with fries and soup - he chose the Chicken Enchilada. My DH said the Red, White and Bleu Sandwich was only okay, and he would not order it again. read more

I would consider this restaurant more for breakfast or lunch but we stopped in for a quick dinner. There are no frills, daily specials, and our server was incredibly kind. She had enough sense to hold off placing our entree order until we had finished our soup. the chicken and wild rice soup was served hot but the pieces of chicken, I think that was the chicken, were too rubbery. I ordered the triple decker club which was just fine. Portions were generous and they start the meal off with a small half loaf of warm bread. It was really good. Ambiance was a no nonsense ~ booths and tables. A word about the parking. I recommend parking just as you enter ( on the east side of the building ) or the back, which I know is a walk to get to the entry doors, but the parking on the west side of the building (where it seems most people park) is parallel along the building and angle on the outside. It did not look like there was enough room to back out of the spaces and I would have a real concern about someone hitting my car. Just my opinion. A typical Greekatorium serving diner fare. They do it well. Fair pricing on the menu. We were with a group of friends who get together every few months to visit and commiserate. Breakfast items were ordered and they were prepared well, with good sized portions and were served quickly. The server was pleasant and efficient, suggesting a special item for those who like pumpkin themed pancakes. Typical Greek owned restaurant. Big menu, with a wide variety of choices. Pasta, Greek chicken, club sandwiches, steak sandwiches, burgers, all things breakfast, and lots more. We had chicken salad sandwiches deluxe, meaning it came with fries, and soup. The pasta fagiola soup was amazing...and served piping hot! Yay! The soup was accompanied by warm bread. The chicken salad was very good...all white meat, mayo, celery. No weird stuff, which is a big plus. I hate when restaurants put fruit or nuts in their chicken salad. The fries were nice and hot. Service was very good. Waitress was very friendly, and was very efficient. Jennifer even offered to bring me a new drink to go. Always a nice touch! My bride and I discovered Omega maybe ten years ago, back when they were open 24/7, before COVID destroyed that game's economics. But we keep going back to Omega, and it's one of our favorite restaurants! Exactly as their website says: hot comfort food, done right, delivered with impeccable service to the table, in a clean, pleasant room. I've lost count of the number of Servers we've known, and who knew us, by name. We've had some favorite Servers, and one or two "less than favorite" (those don't last long - good Management!) We've been there hundreds of times. I have many, many good things to say, and can't possibly list them all here. But, in sum: The food is consistently excellent. Hot and fresh, flavorful, and presented with care and "verve". Their soups are awesome, presented at about 245*. I LOVE THAT - tepid soup is a real buzzkill! The Matzoh Ball is the best I've ever had! I can't say we've had everything on the menu - we have our favorites - but we've never had anything we didn't really enjoy. Omega's consistency is a real star of their show. And, then, there's PIE! Really GOOD pie. My bride and I have a ritual: we order our pie FIRST, when we come in, and ask Rita to package it for take-home. The pie is often complimentary, depending on what we order as a meal. If I were forced to post a gripe... it'd be the music in the background. They (often) are playing some spastic R&B Kpop electronic dreck, too loud, that screeches and spasticizes and raises my blood pressure. Their speakers and that horrid music seem to find the exact sonic frequency that pierces my brain and makes me want to go out and kill puppies and kittens. ("But hey! I LOVE puppies and kittens!" ) Once or twice over the years, the music has made me physically nauseous. That's no fun... but the Restrooms are always clean and well-supplied. I wish they'd change the music, but nothing else. Except maybe return to being open 24/7? Dozens of times over the past decade, we've needed Comfort Food in the wee hours. We go there about once a month and we love their soups, saginaki, strip steak, burgers and gyros. So far that's all we had there oh nd one time breakfast which was very good and portions were huge especially their French toast. The servers are always friendly and attentive and the place did a nice renovation some time ago and looks really great. OMG and their desserts that's another awesome story in itself. read more

Compliments to the line cook! I'm not sure if there is a new cook, or if someone else was filling in, but my eggs were fantastic. You may think scrambled eggs are easy, but they are not. These were cooked perfectly and very yummy. Mine were on avocado toast. Good job! If I could offer any suggestion it would be to offer some other potato options for breakfast. So this place is reminiscent of old school Jedi's Garden in North Riverside, yet, it doesn't compare. Our server was egggggceptional, but other than that the food was nothing to write home about. I went with the Veggie Panini with french fries in addition to a side salad. The salad contained their house Italian. Fair enough. You can tell it was made in house and was tasty enough. The Veggie Panini was lacking the pesto and mushrooms mentioned on the menu and so I received those on the side. Didn't do too much to the actual sandwich as the innards tasted too greasy whereas the bread seemed uncooked. Weird, but enh. The fries were standard. I probably won't come back, but I appreciate a decent enough family restaurant. read more

Visiting our favorite breakfast place while in Chicagoland. Food is always fresh and delicious regardless of what you order. I tried the beef barley soup today and it was really good. The service here is always on point. Tina was our server and she's always attentive. The ambiance is casual and it stays busy. I recommend coming here to try anything on the menu. Was in the suburbs and our group of 8 friends went to Omega. They are perfect for groups and the menu has something for everyone. This is a classic comfort food place from breakfast to dinner. Not fancy but all the food was delicious and hearty. We all took food home and the prices were very affordable. Many of the meals came with soup or salad, sides, and dessert! I had the chicken dumpling soup which was a treat on a cold and windy day. My wife had the white fish which was so large it just fit on the plate! My shrimp DeJonge was filled with shrimp and an enormous amount of pasta. Food to last a few meals at home. We picked out our dessert at the counter and packed to take home. Stopped in Saturday afternoon and when we walked in my sister said hello to the older man behind the counter. He just looked at her and didn't say a word. My sister again said hello, and not a word. She did tell him that it's very bad customer service and extremely rude. A younger man came and sat the five us at a table. Despite the initial experience, the young man that served us was very pleasant and the food was very nice. I had the chicken breast crumbed with pretzels with mustard sauce and it was amazing. My friend and I met for breakfast yesterday. She had the eggs and french toast and bacon; I had one of the Specials that was poached eggs on ham over an English muffin with cheese and broccoli sauce with a side of hash browns. It was excellent. We had a great, efficient waitress and excellent service. Yes, the prices have gone up. Prices have gone up everywhere. We had a great time and I recommend the place for a relaxing catch up with friends. read more

I have been coming to Omega on and off for 20 years and today was the worst. The food was very good but the service was terrible. The server would barely speak to us and when she came over with our drinks she was eating something. We are not high maintenance people at all and simply asked for a to go container for our soup and she seemed to have a problem with that. I will absolutely never go back. read more

Met up with a relative for breakfast at this spot at her suggestion. They have their own parking lot and we arrived at the same time. Stepped in and we were immediately seated at a booth. Typical midwest diner, with a display case of desserts at the cash register/host. Huge menu with lots of options. Wasn't up for a heavy breakfast of eggs, potatoes or pancakes, so I decided on a smoked salmon platter & bagel. Prior to our meals, they brought out a basket of a variety of breads; they were very good. Was not expecting the size of the salmon platter. It was HUGE. It contained many slices of salmon (I would never eat that much), boiled egg, tomatoes, white onions, american cheese, cucumbers, pickles and black olives. The platter was so full, that they brought the freshly toasted bagel on a separate plate. It was too much food for me and I ended up only eating half the bagel. They use Philadelphia cream cheese and don't spread it on the bagel, but serve 2 little containers to you. I enjoyed my half bagel, but would have preferred some capers to the olives. The only reason that I left one star was because there was not a choice for NO stars! I grew up in the area and loved eating at the Omega, it was a treat for us. My family went back last night after attending a wake. We couldn't have been more disappointed... The food took forever, 45 minutes for a chicken breast, after several inquiries, they told us it would be worth the wait. Well, it was ok, but not worth 45 minutes. We were charged for refills on our drinks. I did not see this anywhere on the menu. We were drinking Iced Tea and Pepsi. I was not asked if I wanted a refill, my glass just kept getting topped off. Would have been nice to know that they are charging me every time time! My mom ordered a Seafood platter. The shrimp was rubbery, the scallops were slimy and the fish... We have been going to this restaurant for years and moved away. We went last night and there's a reason it was empty. Took forever to get our food, over 45 minutes. My mom's meal was inedible, the seafood plate. They took it off the receipt but still charged for the soup! She was sick all night! Finally looking at the receipt again we were charged for refills on all the drinks. Over $40! She kept topping them off never saying it was another charge. What restaurant charges for refills? It is nowhere on the menu. My advice, avoid this restaurant at all costs!!!!! read more

When you are looking for a good complete menu to just about fill any belly, Omega has been and continues to be that place. We felt immediately welcome when we were being seated and our server Jennifer was so down-to-earth friendly our meal was enjoyable. Going back to the old fashion soup, salad, coffee/tea, meal + dessert is wonderful (now and then). The roast turkey dinner and breaded pork tenderloin dinner was pure comfort food. All the desserts are made in-house and are very good (blueberry cheesecake was fantastic). I can't believe it's been 10 years since we moved to Lisle, and I never wrote a review about Omega! Just after we moved here (from Washington DC), Omega used to be open 24 hours. My wife and I would drive past it, but never stopped. After Covid struck, they reduced their hours. As a part of our "supporting local business", we decided we'd stop and give them a try, about 2020. Since then, we visit Omega a few times a month! Overall, they're an excellent restaurant, with a very respectable menu, wonderful service (consistently!), and a very comfortable ambience. We saw the plexiglass barriers go up during Covid, and then come down again as the pandemic dissipated. I can't say I've tried everything on their menu - I have my favorites: * Their Patty Melt is among the best I've ever had. * Every now and then, they offer a Pork Chop special, with a Greek gravy and oven-roasted Greek potatoes. Extra-mega Yum! * Their Matzo Ball soup is the best I've ever had, anywhere. Piping hot! And I'm a big fan of HOT - I can always let it cool for a bit if needed. * Speaking of which - *all* of their soups are exceptional, and similarly hot Lukewarm soup is an Actionable Disgrace. * Speaking of which - their oven-roasted potatoes are wonderful. We always ask Omega to put them on the regular menu... and when they *are* on the daily menu, we ask for side orders! * Omelets - it's surprisingly easy to screw-up an omelet. Having had *hundreds* of them at Omega, I have never had an episode! They come out hot, and done perfectly. Every single time. Highly recommended! * Their Bakery goods - WONDERFUL! Don't you dare stop by without trying something! They're on display right up front for a reason. You'll be seated promptly, so wander back while you're awaiting your hot dinner, and take a studied look. The Service - it's always exceptional. We know many of the Servers by name, and like anywhere else, if you're kind to them, they'll be kind to you. Again, this is very consistent at Omega. I can't think of a single bad experience, ever. Oh, yes, sometimes they're tired after a long shift or a busy burst, but they are always friendly, and seem to actually *care* about tour dining experience. The ambience is old-school nice. It's relatively quiet - and although not "intimate", it's comfortable and welcoming. Beware - the HVAC system in the building is also "old-school". If you're on the west side of the room, table window, you'll get a gust of (usually cold) air when the system activates. It's not terrible, but bring a sweater just in case, especially during Chicagoland Winters. My "Inner Grinch" looks for some - any- fault I could find with Omega: there is nothing.
