I believe this is a family run organization, or at least it's run by a small close knit group. It's not as formal as a Corporate shop like a LensCrafters kind of place. They get 4 stars for customer service. I walked in to get glasses and an exam for my daughter. It was busy, but the manager addressed me quickly and scheduled an appointment. On the appointment date, we had to wait maybe 20 minutes, but it was 5 or 5:30 on a weekday, a peak time. The doctor was super friendly and helpful for my daughter. He gets 5 stars. I actually l love this guy and wish I needed glasses so I could see him more. Super nice. Glasses get 5 stars. They had a large selection and quality stuff. I ordered top of the line frames and lenses, and wasn't looking for a bargain. The glasses were expensive, but I expected that. I did not comparison shop, so I can't say whether their prices are competitive, but they were not outrageous. I was super happy with the glasses - attractive, durable, and my daughter wanted to wear them. My only complaint, and the reason I give them 4 stars is because it took a long time for the glasses to be ready, like over a week. When they didn't call for a long time, I stopped in to see if everything was OK. They called a few days later. I was not expecting glasses to take a long time, my daughter doesn't have severe vision problems and so many places these days can produce glasses in an hour. read more

Omega Optical is truly one of the most professional and courteous optical stores that I have been associated with. This family business does a great job at making sure each customer is always satisfied. I have purchased over five pairs of glasses from this store and they have always offered me a reasonable price and had my glasses ready within less than 3 business days. I have sent a lot of my friends and family to this business and they have always been satisfied with their service and eye glasses. They have an extremely large selection of name brand frames for men, woman and children. I'm very disappointed after I went to the store. I don't usually write reviews on Yelp but today I'm spending my 20 minutes here to write a review about Omega Optical. I'm really pissed off by what happened. This is what happened. Couple of days ago I decided to take my contact lenses exam. Please note it's a contact lenses exam not the regular eye exam. I know it's a little bit more expansive than the regular exam. After reading good reviews on Yelp about Omega Optical, I decided to call the store and asked if I can get a quote. A guy answered the phone and said that I couldn't give you the quote unless you came into the store. They won't check your insurance information over the phone. FINE! I guess this is how they do business. They will make you make decisions on the spot. Feel like I don't have any other options near Rego Park. I will come in the store myself and made an appointment on the phone for contact lenses exam. Today I went to the store. Two people worked in the store today. Store looked old but it was pretty clean. No current model frames on their shelves but that's ok. Some customer went in and out. A man and a woman were working in the store. The doctor showed up in the store a couple of time. She seems very friendly. I'm guessing the glasses shop hires the doctor to come in regularly to take eye exams. The woman welcomed me and took my insurance information. She seemed very helpful. However, after I provided my insurance information and asked about the price for getting the exam. She started to become very inpatient. She kept on introducing me stuff I don't need. Like, "You should get premium coating". She said that my insurance only covers $30 but in fact it covers $200. What a liar! Then I decided to get a new pair of glasses using my own frame. She started to fill out my information to have me do a REGULAR eye exam. THIS IS NOT WHAT I NEED. I refused and she got pissed off. She said that I don't want to do the exam because of the money. $15 copay for the eye exam. Do you think I couldn't afford that? And she said that you've already used the spot for the appointment, saying I'm causing trouble. Yes, I did book an appointment but IT'S FOR THE CONTACT LENSES EXAM. She also claimed that it's the NEW YORK STATE LAW that in order to get a new glasses, you have to take eye exam. That's not true. I can order my new glasses using my own proscription anytime online. Anyways, I feel sorry for the eye doctor works there because Omega Optical has really bad customer service. I guess they really want to sell you something you don't need and force you to use the service they provide. They are not happy about the fact that if you provide your own prescription. Certainly they will say YES but they are not happy because they are not making any money. GO to some bigger glasses provider elsewhere. Hope this helps! read more

Usually I find the process of buying glasses very overwhelming (limitless options + commitment issues = stress city), but working with Omega Optical made my latest experience smooth and easy. Gregory and Olga were exceptionally patient as I poured over their inventory looking for the perfect frames. They offered some great suggestions, so much so that I ended up ordering two pairs! And I can't say enough good things about the optometrist. She was very knowledgable, friendly, attentive, and provided what I thought was the most comprehensive eye exam of my life. As an added bonus, Omega accepted my insurance. horrible svc. wasn't prepared when i first went for my appt. the people at the store tries to sell you on things you don't need or on things you can get for cheaper somewhere else. i once tried to order my contacts online using this optometrist only to have them cancel my order because they "thought" my prescription was expired when it turns out it wasn't. Then when I tried to rectify the problem personally they tried to tell me that in order to get the online order to process i would need another eye exam (even if the prescription had not expired yet). it was a total scam for them to try to get me to spend another 100 for the optometrist to say "can you see this, can you see that". Above all, when they "realized" that they incorrectly canceled my online order based on the false assumption of an expired prescription, they were not apologetic for wasting my time or being helpful by assisting me. The women simply argue with me on phone saying "its not her responsibility for this or that". Total sh*t place. Its as if they consider every customer to have only two brain cells. read more

Best optical place with tons of selection frames and very awesome quality services . I get my glasses from this place for over 10 years. I love their selection and their patience with my pickiness. Best part of them, they are honest and they always stand behind their customers. They also have good Optometrist doctor on site twice a week. Horrible experience at Omega Optical.. Every time I went to see the eye doctor I had to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour... The eye doctor couldn't figure out my prescription for hard lenses that I really wanted so I went back week after week for about 2 months. Finally, they decided that soft lenses specifically, torric lenses were the better option for me- so now I am stuck with soft lenses that aren't providing me with 20/20 vision. I asked for a refund but they refused, promising me that they would do their best to "adjust the prices" and "give me a good deal".... But in reality, I'm getting only half the contact lenses (2 boxes) than what I was promised from the beginning (4 boxes) when I made the switch to soft lenses.. They are ridiculous and lie to your face for solely their benefit. After I pick up my lenses, I will never be going back again. My advice is to STAY AWAY from this place!!!! Invest your time and money elsewhere. read more
