We are regulars here. Wish there were some more vegan options. We usual order and take it home to add ingredients to improve the dish.

Visited here because of a Restaurant.com certificate that I had purchased. We were VERY unhappy with this visit. While some of the food was good (the lamb pizza & the gyros) - the chicken wings were way undercooked and the ravioli & onion rings were overcooked. The service was HORRIBLE and the waitress attempted to take a 40% gratuity rather than the 18% gratuity required by the certificate (and with the lack of service we had in a nearly empty restaurant the 18% was over generous even though I usually tip between 20 and 25%) -- I had to BEG for my change back - she seriously thought she was going to keep a 40% gratuity!!! Our entire group came home feeling ill. One of the people in our group (the poor sap who ate chicken wings before realizing they were bloody) was up vomiting off and on during the night. Boy am I glad I didn't read a book by its cover. Driving up, my husband and I thought to ourselves "Do we really wanna stop and eat here?" We were the only customers inside and with it being almost eight on a Tuesday evening that wasn't entirely surprising. He ordered the gyro and i the chicken shwarma. I have never had a meal so hot, so juicy, or so fresh in my life as this one I had tonight at Omar's. We will be making this our spot in St Louis to stop each time we come through. read more

This place used to have excellent pizza and great little Mediterranean dishes to try. But lately it has completely slid off of the "shabby chic but great food" scale. My wife found glass in her food at the last visit and we were offered merely half off the meal. The place was much filthier than we had seen it in the past. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's time to go back to your roots Omars!!! read more

i am retired and figured why not review some of my places i have visited in st.ann. i enjoy omars during the summer ,they have outside seating. friendly staff, good food and i like their falafel alot. the inside decor is nice and they have a good menu. Baklava is real good and sweet. not my favorite spot in the area ,but will continue to go back. read more

We used to love this place. We lived nearby for years and would eat there at least weekly. We hadn't been in for a while since moving and honestly I doubt we will ever be back. They stopped serving their bread that was always one of our favorite parts. They changed their menu and eliminated a couple things we had liked. Plus everything we ordered was just much lower quality than it had been before. It seemed like maybe they have started using cheaper ingredients or something. Plus we had real difficulty with our waiter. I feel bad saying this as we could tell he had some sort of disability and tried really hard to be patient (he was nice enough and was clearly trying) but we kept having to explain everything we wanted multiple times. When we asked for ketchup he said he would bring it "when [he] had time". Ummm...but our fries are hot now? (There were a total of 3 tables with people, he wasn't that busy.) Then we ordered cheesecake and had to explain probably 6 times that we wanted one slice to share and not a whole cheesecake. Then when it came it was frozen. We literally couldn't get our forks through it no matter how hard we tried. We took it to go and ate it at home several hours later. It just made the whole thing very frustrating. I feel like if they worked with him more he could likely get better but as it stands having him wait on us made eating there stressful instead of relaxing as it should be. read more

If I could have given them zero stars I would have. The girl answering the phone doesn't even know the menu, sent us the wrong order then I call back and the owner tells me WE communicated it wrong. Said it would be ready in 5 mins, assuming hey your going to RE-DELIVER my food to me that you messed up. He calls me back saying it's ready to be picked up like I have to come and get it when I paid for delivery & a tip to have my food sent to me. Then once again he said I miscommunicated it to him. Have not been disappointed yet. Great range in cuisine. Specialty seems to be mediterranean and pizza.. Great hummus, huge filling pizzas. Excellent shawarmas. Even have really good baklava. read more

We had a pizza delivered from them. My girlfriend took a bite and pulled out a chunk of glass. When I called to inform them off this, I was treated like I was lying. I was told, "There's no way that could happen, unless god willed it there." I was offered 15% off our next order, which obviously won't be happening. Eat at your own peril. read more

I am always confused when I get bad food at a place with multiple 5-star reviews. I took my 3 year-old daughter with me because we were in the area and Yelp! showed a 4-star average. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs. Her order came out in a baking dish that was VERY hot. The pasta around the edge of the dish was overdone and dry, completely inedible. I'm not sure what the problem was with the cheese but it was one giant mass in the middle of the dish. This being touted as a "Mediterranean restaurant", I thought shawarma would be a safe order. I opted for the lamb and beef shawarma. Both the lamb and the beef were overcooked and dry and different temps throughout. Microwave? We were the only patrons dining in though they did have one person come in for carry out and the delivery driver made one delivery. I get it that it is tough to serve menu items that might not be ordered as much as others when business is slow. I have had WAY better Mediterranean in town. Al-Abolish, for example. Just a bad experience; probably won't go back. read more

I ordered carryout at the counter from Omar's, which was paid for by credit card. When I received the credit card statement, I noticed that the entry for Omar's was higher than I remembered. The original receipt verified this. I spoke on the phone with the manager and ultimately Omar himself, who said that someone penciled in a $5 tip on the original cc slip. He apologized over the phone and verbally offered a free meal, but would not send me a gift certificate or refund my money. Since no one would believe me if I walked in and asked for a free meal because Omar said so, I won't bother going back there. read more

A very disappointing experience. Greek salad ($7) was comprised of a large handful of chopped iceberg, 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 olives, 2 peppercinis. Instead of the feta noted in the menu it came with a dusting of what appeared to be romano cheese. The dressing was so sparse I could barely taste it. Probably the worst greek salad I've ever had and a huge rip off. Falafel was under seasoned and undercooked. Given that the owner is Palestinian I would have thought the falafel would be excellent. It was served with a ramekin of sauce that tasted mostly of mayo-nasty. The baba ghanoush was serviceable but didn't have a lot of flavor. Lamb and beef shwarma had an odd texture as if it had been boiled and then reheated. There were no discernable grill marks and the meat had no flavor so it wasn't possible to determine the lamb from the beef, though I suspect there was no lamb in the dish. As strange as the texture was the appearance of the meat, a mix of small chunks and oddly shaped trimmings. Sliced onions and bell peppers were mixed in with the meat but were barely cooked so they didn't contribute much to the dish except to add bulk. The rice on the side was the same shade of yellow as the stuff that comes out of a box and had the same kind of flavor and texture. The side of hummus was just ok, like the baba, with not much character. About the only good thing I can say is that the pita served with the hummus and baba was fresh. read more

Omar's is a great find for anyone who is tired of the same ol', same ol' that only Saint Louis County can provide. A honey of a restaurant offering the standard Greek fare, Omar's serves up a mean gyro. My fellow lunch dates had the schawarme (I may have butchered the spelling on that a bit), which is like a gyro but filled with sliced beef or chicken and concurred that it, too, was delicious. Their falafel was pretty good, but the sauce they paired with their falafel was dynamite--like a Greek mayonnaise with a sprinkling of feta. Unbeatable prices, but the one server seemed a bit overwhelmed by the heavy lunch crowd. It was a decent temperature, but be sure to sit beneath a fan if you're eating inside--it can get toasty eating all that great food. I only knocked them one star for the service being a little slow, but the server himself was a good guy! I'd have to give them the edge over Olympia's gyro--sorry if that offends anyone, but it was just the right blend of soft, chewy, crunchy that I needed to keep me going for the rest of the day! read more

My wife and three daughters went in this evening knowing exactly what we wanted. There were two other tables already seated. One had ordered one was waiting. Our waitress brought us menus and I said I'd like to order drinks she asked to come back for them. Not really a problem but took about 10 minutes. I told her we were also ready to order our meals and she said the cook was busy and asked her not to ring in any other orders. I'm not sure if there was a large to go order or something but there were only three tables in the restaurant. After waiting another 20 minutes we decided to leave. I've been coming to Omar's for the past few years. The food and service are great. Try the Falafel!

I have tried all the mediterranean entrees and they are indeed very tasty. Policemen are always in here eating gyros. I LOVE the bread/rolls you get when you order a Greek salad. Salad is average iceberg, 2 olives, 2 pickled peppers, light oil and vinegar dressing. Their pizzas are a big surprise. No pork but the pepperoni, bacon, and sausage made with beef are a great fakes. We usually get the one with some of everything on it. I have also tried the one with beef and pickle. Weird sounding but very tasty also. I don't know why anyone is so obsessed about the decor. They have done a good job with an old burger joint. The owner has lovely roses planted all around the outside. Typically run by the cook and one server so sometimes things are a little slow but I have always found the service very pleasant. My husband is happy with a burger and fries. read more

On Monday at 7PM, the website says Open but the paper note on the door says Closed. Pretty frustrating.

There is a reason why a parking lot is almost always empty and it is called bad food. 1rst try not bad, 2nd try eh, 3rd try awful and worse the cook argued with me about how I wanted my food. Used to really enjoy this restaurant and have ordered from there many times. Lately, however, things have changed. The menu has been changed so several items are no longer available. They have no "to go" menus. I was told I could go online and print one out myself if I wanted an updated one. The ordering process was also very strange. I was asked where I lived and if it was a "safe neighborhood" before the woman on the phone would take the delivery order. Funny, they have been here several times and never complained and where I live is as safe as or safer than their restaurant location. Then the driver got lost even though she was given detailed instructions so the food was cold. Finally, I would NOT recommend the lasagna. It was filled with spinach with white cheese melted on top of it and was dry and burned. And absolutely no red sauce or cheese filling in site. And the spinach is not even mentioned in the description. Very disappointed !! read more
