A relatively new Bangladeshi joint opened in St Ann. We went there today and couldn't resist ordering every item on their menu. Unfortunately they didn't have beef or goat, so we ended up ordering their chicken biryani, tiki masala, morag polao, and the chicken over rice, and their cheese pizza. Personal favorite was the pizza and tiki masala. All their dishes were pretty well seasoned, and the chicken was tender. Their morag polao has dark meat (leg and thigh) and was my favorite meat. Biryani is boned breast, others are boneless breast. Sulaiman's gives you so much rice and tiki masala sauce. They definitely don't skimp out on food. And their prices are so cheap! This place is the bomb, we will be back for sure! read more

I can't wait to get takeout from here again. We walked into this very small strip mall restaurant which is one of my favorite places to find good food. We were greated very warmly and shown the menu. I'm not sure if it was because we came in at lunchtime or not, but they were not serving their full menu. I'm really wanting to try more! We ordered chicken over rice, lamb over rice, and mango Lassi. We took it to go because it was so nice outside that we wanted to eat outside. The dining area is very small, but clean, and my guess is they do quite a bit of takeout. Everything was delicious. The garlic sauce was a little tangy which I love. There was a little spice too the chicken and lamb but not hot hot heat. The mango Lassi was lightly sweetened and not cloyingly sweet. Overall I was impressed. Will be returning! read more

It is really difficult to true ethnic food outside few major US cities. The one that are found are Americanized ethnic restaurants serving to generic American palate. It is more evident for restaurants/places representing small countries like Bangladesh. So, when we were visiting St. Louis and found this restaurant in Yelp, we were really on the fence to visit here wondering if it would be worth visiting there,especially this place quite a detour from our route to home. Small and unassuming place in a small strip mall; seating arrangements for a very few people and open kitchen. The interior could use a major makeover; no worries about cleanliness though. Open kitchen and the person cooking is the host's grandmother wearing traditional Bengali attire, Saree. The host, Sajal is extremely nice and accommodating. By the way, the restaurant has limited opening hours during the weekdays, the weekend hours are more generous. The menu is not big; probably less than ten items but we all recognized most of them. The items that we know are well loved dishes in Bangladesh and decide to try a few. We were blown away by finding one of most authentic Bangladeshi foods within 500 miles around St. Louis. The price is surprisingly affordable as well. If you are driving by St. Louis and open try Bangladeshi food, visit this place; you will love it. read more

Their food is great. The owners will take your order and make sure it is exactly as you want. Not fancy as it is a hole in the wall, but very good food! We were there a year ago and since then, the place has been updated and made more comfortable. Don't expect a fancy place. Again, the few dishes offered were fine as the 4 of us had vegetarian and a gluten free issue. No problem! Also, the food came out fast. Do give them a try. Only open for dinner I think. Although very unassuming in appearance, Sulaiman's Cafe was a fantastic dining experience. Nothing "fancy" about the location, which hopefully meant all the attention is on & about the food. This would turn out to be a safe & resplendent assumption! We were treated to an homey & cozy 3 table dining area. It's definitely intimate, so hopefully it will be available for your visit. A small table was available out front, should weather & preference permit. You can smell & hear the sounds of your food being prepared by the most welcoming & friendly chef I've experienced in a while. Our requests for food not on the menu were fulfilled graciously & expeditiously. Our food, the requested samosas, beef teheri & lamb over rice, were all stellar. Although I can't speak to the authenticity, having no prior Bangladeshi food experience, the smell & taste were every bit as good as anything Indian I could compare it to. We ate too fast, out of joy & gluttony, so pictures will have to come next time! And my daughter was so disappointed I forgot to order her a mango or any other flavor of lassi, so there's that too! Service was relatively quick & quality was on point. The food was all outstanding, flavorful, indulgent & THE VALUE of the food IS incomparable & almost unbelievable!!! Not even forgetting the friendly home-style environment we were treated to, which was also immeasurably welcoming. We ended up being the only customers left in the small space when we dined & it added to everything about our experience, absolutely. We totally felt as if a new friend was having us over for a first dinner. If you miss the love cooked in the food, I'm not sure you were looking. The chef's wife was jovial, warm and extremely polite & we absolutely enjoyed our conversation & interactions. The food there, is fantastic and I enjoyed their Chicken Tikki Masala. The service was excellent and friendly experience, the time it took to finish the food was 15-minute round trip driving from Sulaiman's Cafe to 7-Eleven for a Big Gulp purchase and then back to Sulaiman's Cafe for my food order, I say it is quite remarkably fast. There is no place around for a dine-in since the restaurant is small but enough space to wait for the food order. read more

I am not someone to just throw around 5-star reviews however this place gets all 5 stars from me, no questions asked. One of my favorite things about visiting NYC is the Chicken and Rice street food. I am not talking about Halal Guys I am talking about the legit street cart food that you find at places like 145th and Frederick Douglass. I have spent years trying to recreate these delights in my kitchen and I have scoured Saint Louis to find something comparable. Sulaiman's Café delivered on this, and to make this story even better I never expected it. I stumbled upon Sulaiman's Café on accident today. Originally, I was going to go to a different place that closed next door. I love trying new places, so I walked in here and looked at the menu. It is not often I see Chicken / Lamb over rice, so I immediately ordered that. It took about 10 minutes which I thought was fast, I would have waited even longer if needed. The people working were super nice as well which is always a plus. When I got home and opened the container, I might have teared up a bit. I excitedly called my fiancé in and was like "OMG OMG OMG OMG Look at this!!!!!!" While the white sauce was a bit different it was still closer than anything, I was able to make and everything about my lunch was fantastic. I really cannot wait to go back here to try some of the other items on the menu, however I can promise you it is going to be incredibly hard to not order the chicken or lamb over rice. Yes, it is a simple dish, but oh man does it make me happy. Update: For dinner I decided to go back here and try a few more dishes. Yes, I went to the same place twice in a 5/6 hour period. I thought the Beef Teheri was extremely flavorful and had an abundance of spices. The rice reminded me a lot of the rice used in the lamb over rice except the spices seemed a bit more intense and that really made the dish stand out. I thought the Morog Polao was incredibly unique. I am not sure exactly what combination of spices are used but I really thought the flavors were layered very nicely and loved how it had a bit of a sweet aftertaste. I am looking forward to ordering this dish again, because I think I might like it more than the lamb over rice. It should be noted that the chicken in this dish is on a bone so if you are in a situation where eating with your hands will be tough it might be best to skip this dish. If this is your first time trying Sulaiman's Cafe I would would recommend going with the Lamb Over Rice (or chicken if lamb is not your thing) and the Morog Polao. read more

Beef teheri and chicken biryani is very delicious. I always want both when I go haha. I will warn you it's a little spicy but worth it. They recently added pizza to the menu. Thought it was odd but it's actually really good! I tried cheese and pepperoni and the cheese and the cheese on both were stretchy and so delicious. read more

We ordered a pizza, chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and daal via yelp. Everything was ready at the estimated time and most importantly, everything was absolutely delicious. We love curries but often don't get them because there aren't good options that our kids will eat so we loved having that on the menu. We tried the lamb and goat gyro over rice and it was fantastic. We asked the owners about sauces and flavors. My partner having been in the military it's a food he's experienced on the homemade level and they discussed different things he's tried. She brought us out a complimentary plate of the chicken biryani to try! The pickled garlic sauce was so flavorful combined with the spices of the rice and tender chicken! SO delicious! We ordered a pretty diverse array of dishes for a family dinner, and they were all five star meals. First we ordered the Morog Polao, which was a roasted chicken dish over rice. Didn't really know what to expect, but it was the highlight of the meal. It had a lot of wonderful spices and was incredibly flavorful. We will definitely order this again. Next up we had the chicken tikka masala, which was great as well. The chicken was very tender and the flavor was great. Last up was the gyro platter which was chopped gyro meat over a yellow rice with sauce and a pita. Again, spot on. Importantly, we got delivery and it all traveled and arrived hot and great. Tonight was our second time trying Sulaiman's cafe and we were just as satisfied as the first time! The first time we ordered lunch delivery and got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb over rice. Both delicious, flavorful, and affordable, but the lamb over rice stood out as our favorite. Tonight for dinner delivery we tried the chicken dish (morog polao), which is a bone-in chicken with a super delicious sweet and spicy seasoning blend. Thanks to our friend Nick for the suggestion! Of course we also ordered the lamb over rice again because we couldn't resist . The lamb is tender and the tzatziki style white sauce is herbal and fresh and yummy. Absolutely delicious! Easy 5 out of 5. I had never had Bengali food before so I was pretty excited when I stumbled upon this. I wanted to go with something authentic so I decided to try the Morog Polao with a Mango Lassi. Everything was amazing. Chicken was super flavorful and juicy. Idk what kind of spices they use but it is very unique and addictively satisfying. The rice was just as good as the chicken and that's saying a lot. Mango Lassi was fresh and tasty. Small family-owned place. Not for us, but you might enjoy it. We found it too spicy; the dishes were hard to taste beyond that. There was bone in my meat in the biryani. That could be standard for all I know, but it made it hard to eat. There were other inedible ingredients in it also. The tikka masala didn't have those issues but was still too spicy. At least that one came with naan though. Naan should be a menu item to order. They didn't have a single full menu available, just a ripped up piece of paper with half the limited selections, so we were unable to order from the pizza section. Tax seems to be included in the price, and there was no way to tip with a credit card, and we lacked cash. Maybe you have to tell them in advance, and they do it on their end? Considering they've been around at least 4 months, I'd expect them to have worked out the kinks of having a proper podium/place to order, menus available, and way to tip with credit card by now. They have a few tables to eat in, and we did. The price was reasonable. read more
