    Philly with cheesy fries
    Jessica S.

I decided to give this place a 2nd try. As the 1st time was personal issue. I seen pops kitchen so I assumed it was a place you grabbed food at a small table chowwed and left. So when me and a girlfriend stopped in and their were no tables we chose to go somewhere else. Again. Ive lived in a small country town in Southern Illinois/Western Kentucky for the past 8 years. Still getting reaquainted with STL. So to be fair I gave this place a actual try. And I have to say it was very good. Sandwich was good fries in abundance with enough cheese to even make me happy. Was alittle confused as when I ordered lady asked what size sandwich I thought I chose the bigger ones but it whatever. HE was happy with sandwich saying it was delicious but fries could of been crisper but for me the cheesy fries is what sold it for me! So all in all im glad I gave this place a 2nd try . Will definitely be back for some more cheesy fries and a sandwich for him!!

Tried this place for the first time and was not disappointed. The chicken was fresh and crispy. The sauce was nostalgic of original honey hot sauce. The fries were surprisingly crispy as the chicken. The seasoning on everything was good as well. There is an open shared parking lot. It's located across parking lot from Schnucks. Recommended.

Not sure how this place makes money, but if you're looking for pre inflation prices, this is the place to go. Newly open sister store in Maryland Heights, Pops is a very affordable take out store. We ordered all 4 lunch specials 6.99 each, comes with a can of soda. All 4 gave a very generous portion of fries and well seasoned food. Personal favorite were the wings, but honestly all 4 dishes were great. Massive double cheeseburger, flavorful Philly, lightly breaded wings and fish! Best bang for your buck in the area

    12. Shrimp Combo Meal (15pc)

Was craving some shrimp and fries and ordered from pops. Seasoning was delicious almost addictive. Easy to order and pick up with a small clean lobby. A can soda comes with all the combo meals and there are so many different kinds and flavors. Choosing a soda from cooler I normal wouldn't pick out at the store makes it fun.

All the fried food tastes the same. And it's pretty bland. They're really quick, but the food just isn't worth it anymore.

I'm tempted to suggest that this is a pizza, wings and t-ravs place--which is all you need, really. If you include beer, which they have, that's all four food groups. (That might actually be true, come to think of it.) I've had the burgers here once or twice, here and at other locations, and I seem to recall them being fine--probably a cut above anything you'd get at a fast food restaurant, and for not much more, but not anything you'd travel for. If you lived in the adjacent hotel for some reason (trying to put together first-and-last on a place in a "good school district," perhaps), you'd be all set. I was there with my parents because they wanted to get the Sunday special fried chicken dinner. Deals like that are like catnip for the elderly. It's an okay deal for the price, and it's reminiscent of a time when a lot of these local sit-down places used to do fried chicken on Sundays. We used to get it sometimes at the Culpeppers near 270 and Olive. It was both much cheaper than this deal and all you could eat. Of course you had to walk there to get it, uphill both ways. (It really was all you can eat.) I didn't order the fried chicken, but I did get a chance to try it. It was good! It was maybe a little bit dry, but it was fried *hard*, like the chicken wings from the hood spot on the Fugees' The Score, to continue with the '90s theme, and it was seasoned well. Weirdly, you have to pick one (just one) side from the list of sides that come with the sandwiches, and there's a dearth of traditional fried chicken sides, like green beans and mashed potatoes. My parents had mac and cheese (which cost extra) and steamed vegetables, neither of which looked like they were that good. But the fried chicken honestly wasn't half bad. I already kinda knew what to expect with the pizza. It's St. Louis style and roughly on a par with Imo's, for what it's worth. The cheese might be better, but the other toppings probably vary depending on what you get. I got the pepperoni, which was fine. Maybe a little bit thin, like the pepperoni they had to use on pizzas during the Great Depression. They load you up on cheese, and like I said, it's a somewhat higher quality cheese. It's not weirdly liquid when it's hot, and it has a satisfyingly substantive chew to it once it's had a chance to cool down a bit. They could have left it in the oven a bit longer, but it wasn't undercooked, just not quite as crisp as I require. I know you have to tell them to do that at Domino's, or else they pull it out of the oven early, to save money that they pass on to you, the consumer, in the form of app deals that seem almost too good to be true. The pizza, if I read the menu correctly, only comes in two sizes, one which seemed like it might be too small and one that was definitely too big for one person. The 12" might honestly be fine for most people who don't have some sort of disorder, which, honestly, might be much of this place's customer base. I ate a whole 16" anyway (no Diddy), along with that chicken. What can I say? It was good, and I'm as pathetic as anyone else who eats here, if not more so.

Actually... I was right because Jalea is 10x better than what we've ever had in the West Coast. This cozy restaurant is on Main Street, so if you're lucky, you can get street parking otherwise there is public parking spots scattered around Downtown St. Charles. Our server was really sweet, a little soft spoken, but got us through the menu. Our table was given some plantain and corn nuts to munch on while we browsed the menu. Everything was really dang good!! I ordered the Ceviche Carritellero that came with breaded shrimp. Gigantic breaded shrimp. It was so good and I loved the citrusy, bright flavors. My husband ordered the Chaufa Aeropuerto - the flavors on this was incredible. It was Peruvian fried rice with steak and pork belly, and an egg on top. This was a really great dinner experience, and I hope we can come back again to make this a regular date night spot for us!

We ended up at Bar Louie, more casual than the other, but we got right in. We knew fairly soon that they were short staffed in the front and in the kitchen, so we just made the most of our time together and rolled with it! The soft drinks got goofed up, but our server remedied it for us. The red sangria had a good flavor, but there was too much ice and not enough wine. The raspberry martini was refreshing, The food was good, especially the cheese curds and wing apps. The breading on the curds was delicious. Our mains were: Steak Frites (steak cooked a bit under but edible), the New Orleans chicken and shrimp pasta (spicy and tasty), the chicken club sandwich (good), fish and chips (tasty, but the fish was a bit on the greasy side ) and finally, the cheeseburger (tasty, except there wasn't supposed to be sauce and there was (but not too much to send it back). Our server did the best she could under the circumstances. The restroom was not in the best order and the dining areas needed attention, as well. The manager was bussing tables, so I think they were all doing the best that they could.
