I got takeout from here on a Sunday afternoon. I called in my order, and when I arrived it was ready on time. Service was polite. The garlic naan was so delish! The vegetable pakora was not quite as good as I recall, but the tamarind sauce served with it was quite good. The Gobi Manchurian was flavorful an satisfying. The paneer tiki masala was priced well and rather good, and the basmati rice was cooked perfectly and even reheated well. I hope next time I can dine in. read more

We were visiting from Seattle so we have high bar for Indian food. We did not like Palak Paneer or Malai Kofta. Mint Kofta was the best but still not our bar. Garlic Naan and Garlic Chilli Naan were both great. Service and ambiance are good though. read more

First time dining here and drove all the way from Illinois to try this top notch Indian restaurant here in Chesterfield. The nan bread and garlic chicken were excellent but some other dishes especially the Lamb Vindaloo has some sweetness which I did not expect. The wing appetizer was a little dismal as the meat was a little dry. The mango lassi was also very good. Overall we had a nice dining experience yesterday and our waiter was very attentive. This is by far my favorite Indian restaurant. It's very good! Love the butter chicken, partner loves the tiki masala, and we always get the garlic naan. This restaurant is in a good location in Chesterfield by many other shops and grocery stores. It's a bright restaurant and is clean when you enter. The service was mediocre and the waiter didn't have great communication skills and was not the friendliest. Food was brought out in a timely manner. Appetizer - vegetable samosas - this was very delicious and came with the chutney and another sauce. Came out hot and fresh, very delicious. Main dish - butter chicken and chicken tikka masala - the chicken tikka was very tasty and would definitely order again. It was spiced right and I did have them bring out additional chili paste as well. Only downside was that there was a quite a bit less chicken in it compared to the butter chicken. Met a friend for dinner here during the week. I ordered the Chili Garlic Naan and the Gobi Manchurian. My friend ordered the Vegetarian Biryani and the Aloo Gobi. We both tried everything and we were in agreement. The food was OK but nothing stood out. The service was great. The portions were large. We just weren't in love with the flavors. My chili garlic naan wasn't very hot or garlicky. The Gobi Manchurian was probably the best thing. It was lacking in flavor though and not that crisp. Onward. read more

It's been over 5 years since I've been to Taj Palace! I just remember it being delicious. My friend and I came here for lunch the other day and it seems a lot has changed. 1. They no longer offer Lunch buffet - I thought it was maybe temporary due to COVID, but it seems permanent at this point 2. The space looks smaller now. They have a wall that covers entry to the kitchen and they put more tables and chairs where the buffet used to be. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikki Masala, couple Garlic Naan's and the Tandoori Chicken. Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikki Masala were delicious as always, but the portion size was small. It was about $16-$17 each Tandoori Chicken was dry and had no flavor. We had to dip the chicken into our Tikki Masala and Butter Sauce to comfortably eat it. Overall, a bit pricey for what it is, but still delicious! You had around 10 years to check this place out, if you haven't, do it!! read more

My mom and I went out for dinner and I must say, this is a great contender with my other favorite Indian restaurants. We ordered the Chicken Vandelou and the Chicken Curry. Both were phenomenal! One of the meals we can always agree on is Indian food. There's always a little something for everyone. Our go-to meal is butter chicken curry. A rich flavorful sauce with tender chunks of chicken served with a fragrant basmati rice. The naan has a nice texture crisp with a chewy center. We also enjoy the paneer tika masala. The sauce is rice and delicious the paneer holds its texture well. Of course we ordered the obligatory mango lassi which is thick and delicious. The inside is a bit formal, yet comfortable. The restaurant appears to have a luxury feel with soft music and table cloth but the service is just basic. The servicer was nice but we had to ask him 3 times for my drink and a to-go bag as we were leaving. The older gentleman was more welcoming, IJS. I ordered the butter chicken and my son got the Curry Goat. The butter chicken was creamy tender & seasoned just right with the rice. I only had a small piece of the curry goat but it was tender and good. The Vegetable pakora (appetizers) came with a green minty/vinegar or slightly sour / minty sauce & a brown sweet sauce. Both sauces were delicious but I preferred the sweet one. The vegetable pakora kind of taste like potatoes with a crispy fried batter. My son had the Glazed Chicken Wings ( appetizer) he picked spice level, extra spicy. I only tasted the sauce because I don't eat spicy food. The flavor was good but I only had a very small taste. This is a very new feeling and clean restaurant. Nice white tablecloths but dressy attire is not needed. We got the veggie samosa and they were excellent! 2 large pyramid shaped pies with plenty of filling. They were served with a sweetish red sauce and a minty spicy green sauce. Both were really good. The lamb naan was excellent. My wife said it was a bit gamey for her. The goat curry was very tasty. I wish the chunks of meat were higher quality though. A five-star Indian restaurant that delivers to my new neighborhood... there are not enough words to convey my happiness! I am so thankful to have found Taj Palace. I first saw them on a delivery platform, so I immediately checked the Yelp reviews, and you people did not steer me wrong. We had a couple of bumps when ordering... they were out of the "dinner plate" we had originally ordered, but we got it straightened out pretty quickly. We settled on the samosas, the saag paneer, and the mattar paneer. Everything we ordered was so fresh, SO flavorful, and I'd argue it was one of the best Indian dinners I've had in St. Louis. I'm now making it my personal mission to work my way through the rest of the menu. It's a hard job, but someone has to do it. I ordered the Masala Naan Bread (Naan Bread stuffed with cheese, onion, spinach and cilantro), Chicken Korma, and Lamb Tikka Masala. This was my first time trying Masala Naan Bread and the flavor was amazing. I ordered the two entrees with medium heat, that is the perfect spice level if you enjoy a moderate amount of heat. We had never eaten at an Indian restaurant before so we didn't really know what to expect. The food was good, but I've had curry at non Indian restaurants and some I've made at home with more flavor. The restaurant itself is very nice and elicits a romantic and upscale restaurant. What was most frustrating was the service. The man who took out orders would only address me and not my wife. Excellent Indian place in West County! I love the upscale feel of the restaurant with the cloth tablecloths, napkins, and glassware. The staff were all super friendly and eager to help. We started with the vegetable samosa, which was a crisp pastry stuffed with spicy potatoes, and peas. We got 2 large samosas in an order. They came with 2 different sauces - a sweet, flavorful red sauce and a slightly spicy mint sauce. We just loved the samosa and both sauces. For dinner, I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and my husband got the goat curry. I loved my chicken tikka masala! It was different than other chicken tikka masalas I've had, but it was really good. It was so flavorful and packed with spices, and it almost had a sweet flavor to it. I like that this restaurant allows you to order your food mild, medium, or hot. The side of basmati rice was also very tasty. I tried some of my husband's goat curry, and I really loved this sauce as well. We ordered the Keema lamb naan and the garlic naan. My husband loved the lamb naan, but it was too gamey for me, but the garlic naan was really tasty - especially dipped in the sauces from our entrees. We can't wait to come back! read more

We were there on a Sunday for lunch and the service was just meh. Slow and the server was a little hard to communicate with. The ambiance is super casual and very noisy. I'm not quite sure why we have not been regulars at Taj Palace. It is so close by and I like Indian cuisine very much. Part of it is that when I suggest it, it is not what Ms T wants. So, this time, while she is out of town, I had dinner. I agonized over where to go so that I would not overeat. This was a really good choice. On a weeknight the place was almost deserted but as I left about 7:15 a few parties had shown up. I had been working and was thirsty so ordered a beer and while drinking it, decided on Reshmi Chicken and vegetables in the form of Navratan Korma. I keep talking about holding down the carbs, so did not have bread, which is really hard to do, since I love all forms of Indian bread. I decided a little basmati rice would not hurt me. I will definitely be able to interest Ms T in the Reshmi Chicken, I think. Listed in the Tandoor section of the menu, this is marinated and roasted chicken breast in fairly large chunks. The serving was huge, easily enough for three people. It is served on a bed of essentially raw white onion with some bell pepper. The serving platter is piping hot cast iron and it comes out sizzling. What was so good about the chicken is how moist is was. It is easy to get dried out chicken breast. It is not easy to get it so moist and delicious. The Navratan Korma vegetables were good, not remarkable. They are creamy and mild. I wished for a little excitement in the form of spices, but I dredged my chicken in the sauce and ate them all together. I had ordered it medium hot, not knowing how hot the hottest would be. I could not detect any chile heat at all. So next time, I will certainly tell them to add more chile. I can try the Vindaloo to see how hot they can make dishes. I also wished for something like some sour pickle with it, so I squeezed the lemon wedge that came with the chicken, into the korma. This helped but I need to try some other vegetable dishes. Now I have a big container of chicken chunks that I think will go into some lentil soup today. Ms T and I like to make Tortilla Soup that includes chunks of rotisserie chicken breast. We just need the breast and that is hard to find by itself, so I am thinking this is our source. I will just get Reshmi Chicken to-go without the onions. I had a very enjoyable meal. read more

Taj Palace is definitely among the most consistent places around. I've been doing take out from this place ever since they opened shop many years back and I can't recall a single incident where they messed up my order or the dish I ordered tasted different than usual. Since the owners and the chef are from the state of Punjab, the North Indian dishes here are way more authentic than any other Indian restaurant in town. So dishes like tikka, saag, achari (pickle), paneer etc. come close to what one finds in the north of India. Their vindaloo is also amazing. I personally didn't care much for their Biryani, every Indian restaurant has a biryani dish on their menu and Taj Palace appears to have added it just to have one. But the other dishes I mentioned above more than makes up for their average biryani. Their sit down dinner experience is also really nice. Their lunch buffets used to be very good but they had stopped it post Covid so not sure if they still do it. Overall this place is worth seeking out for its authenticity and consistency. read more
