It is a nice restaurant with the right ambiance. Drinks are good and the bartender was so attentive. As for the food, between meat and seafood, I would recommend to pick seafood over the meat as it is too overwhelming with no dish to cleanse your palette or vegetables dishes. The sauces were used tasted the same for almost all of them. As for the seafood, I would say the shrimp and the lobster were overcooked a bit. The spaghetti was very lacking in term of flavor and dry. Overall, if you're there for the alcohol then it is worth it.

Came here to celebrate a birthday with a reservation. At $128 for 11 courses, pretty reasonable. However, it was hit or miss for both the beef and seafood. Some courses were oddly more salty than others. If I had to pick between the two, I think seafood edges out the beef course, as the beef tended to be saltier more often. I don't recommend drinks, as they weren't memorable, and it's a separate check (served from the Sheraton bar) Got a chawanmushi on the house for SO's birthday. It was probably our fave thing - so silky, tasty, and hearty. 1. BUTTERFLY YUZU CLEANSER: Butterfly Pea Flower Tea blended with Japanese Yuzu. This is always a refreshing palette cleanser 2. UNIniku "Gold" Grade Beef Tartare with Truffle-Infused Yakiniku, Crispy Nori, and Fresh Uni. SO liked this beef more than the Seafood version which was topped with Dungeness Crab, which was more fishy than I would've liked. I did very much like the way it was served in a bowl of liquid nitrogen - that was quite cool. 3. a5 wagyu amuse A5 Wagyu Tartare served with in-house Ponzu Jelly. 3. seasonal oyster, ponzu jelly Fresh Seasonal Oyster topped with Delicate Ponzu Jelly. Small but tasty 4. SRF "GOLD" Outside Skirt, Ponzu sauce Snake River Farms Gold Grade Outside Skirt Finished with Ponzu 4. tiger prawns, Tangy mayo Seared Tiger Prawns served with Tangy Mayo. sizeable shrimps! yummy 5. srf "Gold" Short Rib, boursin yakiniku Gold Grade American Wagyu Short Rib with Boursin Yakiniku. we liked the boursin more than the meat... 5. Branzino, tomato sauce Branzino paired with a Tomato White Wine Reduction: crispy and yummy! 6. Celadon Trinity Ponzu Marinated Spring Mix with sliced Cucumber, Tomato, & Bamboo Shoots. Super refreshing, and one of our fave course. 7. seared scallops, truffle butter Pan-Seared Scallop served with Rich Truffle Butter and Crispy Garlic Toast. toast was yummy, scallop was pretty good too. Truffle butter on the saltier side. 8. SRF "GOLD" Ribeye Inside, Bordelaise Gold Grade American Wagyu Ribeye Inside Cut served with Bordelaise Sauce: not memorable 8. lobster tail, compound butter Lobster Tail served with Compound Butter (cooked with various spices): pretty good! 9. a5 wagyu, goma sauce Japanese A5 Wagyu paired with Nutty Sesame Goma Dressing 9. crab cake Savory Fried Crab Cake served with Snow Pea Purée. not impressed by this; also fishier than I would've liked 10. Bone marrow rice Rich Bone Marrow Rice Topped with Prime Beef, Egg Yolk, & Crispy Nori. saltyyyy 10. Creamy pasta Rich and Creamy Spaghetti Noodle topped with Snow Crab. Less heavy, compared to the bone marrow rice. i liked it! 11. Mango pudding Light and Refreshing Mango Pudding topped with Fresh Fruits and Mint. Tasty! Birthday dessert was a frozen version of the mango pudding with an artistic cherry blossom tree made with chocolate/matcha powders. so cool! Service was fast and friendly. I would recommend others to try this place, especially for an occasion - more so for the experience than for the food. Parking was validated and easy.

Omaniku is a fine dining restaurant located in the Sheraton hotel in San Gabriel. Guests have the option between a beef or seafood tasting menu. We came as a party of 9 for my friend's birthday and all opted for the beef - the Omaniku tasting course. We were seated in a private room. It was relatively quiet with few other guests. The ambiance didn't feel quite right. I felt like I was sitting in a hotel lobby or an office conference room as opposed to a luxury restaurant. The lighting was a bit too bright, and the table, made up of several other tables with a tablecloth on top, had several bumps and gaps.  I started with a Tokyo Night cocktail from the bar, which set me back $18. Sake base with grapefruit, grated ginger, nutmeg, and sparkling water. It was good. Sweet and refreshing with a strong rice wine flavor. The actual meal left me disappointed. It started strong enough. First, we had the Butterfly Yuzu Cleanser, a palate cleanser made of butterfly pea flower and yuzu. Then, our servers brought each of us an ornate black sphere. Opening it revealed a cloud of mist and a "one bite" beef tartare topped with uni and served on a nori cracker. The uni was fresh and buttery and melded beautifully with the raw beef. The nori gave a nice surprising crispness. The A5 Amuse was good too - more beef tartare served on a "one bite" spoon with truffle jelly. For me, the meal reached its peak here. I found fault with the remaining courses in one way or another whether it be their flavor pairing or quality of cooking. The next dish for example, the USDA prime skirt, was cooked tenderly, but its natural juiciness and aroma were vastly overpowered by the ponzu sauce and onion. The ponzu was very tangy. The onion was sweet, caramelized, and biting. All together, however, it was too much and the meat did not shine. In addition, there was too much onion. In terms of volume, I felt like there was more onion than meat on the plate. The chive on top was just overkill. Next was the short rib, which was largely unimpressive. The meat itself tasted bland with most of the flavor coming from the dill garnish. In this dish, the eggplant, which should have just been a side, outshined the beef. The vegetable trio dish was refreshing. I liked the pickled bamboo shoot and the tangy sauce. The green beans kinda just tasted like cold green beans. We then received a crab chawanmushi on the house because it was my friend's birthday. It was one of the better dishes of the night. The egg was silky, warm, and filling. The broth was umami and delicious. Then, we were each served an overcooked scallop with a side of garlic bread. The scallop was very disappointing. It was tiny. The texture was all wrong - mealy, stringy, and tough. It did not taste fresh. I was not getting truffle from the truffle butter. The broth and scallop were bland. The best thing on the plate was the garlic bread. The ribeye was fine. I don't remember much about it other than it was served with a Bordelaise sauce. The A5 Wagyu with goma sauce was.. Fine. Objectively, it tasted good. But when I compare it to similar dishes I've had, I wasn't too impressed. I think it was slightly overcooked as the edges were a bit charred. It was not as tender and buttery of a bite as I was expecting for A5 Wagyu. The bone marrow rice was a huge let down. I don't know why they chose to sear the bone marrow. It looked dry before they even began mixing it. I did not taste the bone marrow in the rice. I was expecting a fatty richness to coat the grains of rice, but I did not get that at all.  Mango pudding was good. At $128 per person, this tasting menu is definitely expensive. Was the food disgusting? No. It was decent. But at this price, I was expecting so much more and was severely disappointed

Branzino /Tomato Sauce

12/21/2025 - Decided to take an Omaniku Seafood Menu $128 with 11 courses. Every course is 5 stars excluding Branzino /Tomato Sauce and Zucchini Aioli - Branzino, in my opinion, should be placed with skin facing up so that a crispy skin will not be soggy or soft, which ruined a tasting characteristics. Also, Seared Scallop, Truffle Butter, is 4 stars because the size is too small in comparison to a large size (yummy or wow) in the past - blame the wage increase or inflation, etc. Zucchini Aioli is fine, which is just a dish for transitioning to three seafood courses soon. The last course Mango Pudding was replaced with a holiday special chocolate cake, but I prefer to have a Mango Pudding as desert! The ambience is excellent - see some photos for details - This restaurant is an idea venue for your special occasion celebration or dating, etc. The restaurant will give you a 3-hour validation parking for free under the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel underground parking lot. Special note: For the entire 2-hour dining, I noticed that no one ordered any cocktails from the Bar area that belongs to the Sheraton hotel. That's common in Asian communities. As a result, the restaurant may consider to offer a 50% discount for a cocktail if a diner will stay at the hotel by working with the hotel for a reimbursement - that is a Win-Win situation.

This restaurant was highly recommend recommended by a friend to us. And maybe it's because we just dined at Yakiya few days ago, we can with high expectation as they also market themselves as an high-end restaurant and their course menu price is the same as Yakiya. Our first impression as we walk into the restaurant is great. It's a beautiful restaurant with great ambience. After we are seated, we then realize all of the servicing staff that we have encountered our lack of professional training for supposedly a high-end restaurant. Staff from the bar were walking back-and-forth with buckets & and drop off a bar menu on our table on his way to the kitchen. The first course was presented beautifully because of the dry ice show, but we noticed the waitress seemed rushed when introducing the dish. After we finish one of the dish, a waiter came to clear our table. Before he remove my plate, he lifted my used fork, dropped the tip of the fork to the rim of the plate gently twice making 2 ding ding sounds and then set my used fork on top of my knife with rest of my utensils. I wonder why he would do that? Every dish was introduced hurriedly with cold faces from different servicing staffs. I can feel they really wanted to drop the plate, say what they need to say and rush to go back to where they prefer to be. It just feels really unwelcoming. The food is OK for the price we paid, but I was not impressed by their food. The worst part of the dining experience was you can hear kitchen staff talking loudly to each other even when the music is pretty loud and I was sitting pretty far away closer to the bar. That's the reason why can only give this Restaurant a 1 star rating. I even recorded a video of the kitchen staffs talking loudly in this empty restaurant on a Saturday night & shared it to the friend who recommended this restaurant. For this price and this kind of experience, I will never go back again.

My friend took me here for my birthday. The reservation was for lunch around 12pm on a Sunday. There is a good amount of street parking around and it's located inside the Sheraton San Gabriel hotel. There was no wait and maybe one other table when we arrived. The decor and interior are very nice and welcoming. I ordered the seafood tasting course and my bestie ordered the regular tasting course. I really enjoyed the uni crab and Wellington sea bass. I liked the bone marrow rice more from the regular tasting course over the one from the seafood but both menus are very good. Service was overall good and accommodating to my bestie who was pregnant to make sure everything fit the dietary needs. The lemon cheesecake at the end was definitely the most beautiful and shoe shopping. It actually also tasted very nice. Light and lemony so it was more refreshing than decadent. I enjoyed it here and the tasting course is more a special occasion type of thing for me, still reasonably priced for the quality and presentation.

Nan S.

The ambiance is very suitable for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays. For an omakase experience, the pricing is quite reasonable and offers good value. For our wedding anniversary, they thoughtfully gave us a complimentary crab chawanmushi. The bone marrow fried rice and the uni in the appetizer were both excellent. The cocktails were just average and not particularly impressive. The service was also very good--they even brought out the beef for us to see before cooking. Overall, it was a great experience

Debbie W.

It's been awhile since we've been back and this time we got the be beef 11-course meal. We started with Uni over tartare and the presentation was beautiful. I've never seen a bigger Uni, and we had 2 on our plate! Everything was amazingly delicious and service was perfect. We came during the day this time and had the chance to admire the interior space and decor. This place is perfect for a romantic date.

Lisa Y.

I liked this place, it was a great ambiance to celebrate something special. I had the omaniku course (waygu), it was very good and filling. The service was amazing and attentive, staff was very nice and professional. I really enjoyed the waygu, the bring it out for you to grab a photo before they cook it in the back. Very delicious.

Phillip D.

Surprised I was actually full. Portions are a good size for the type of dinning. The staff was professional, friendly and very accommodating. Atmosphere was perfect, a bit of noise but not too much that you can't hold conversation with your party.

Elaine P.

Upon entry the ambiance was nice with the high hotel ceiling. But it was mostly all downhill from there. The food was so mid. The presentation was beautiful but that's it. The taste was mediocre. Some dishes were too salty or felt like it was microwaved with how lukewarm it was. For the price it shouldn't be this disappointing. The fish wellington was disappointing. the 2 little steak pieces were tough and basic. They didn't even know the name of the a5 japanese wagyu cow upon presentation. The service was nice. We had 2 different people serve us food, both stuttering with the words. I don't know if I can recommend it to anyone

We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Solid authentic Chinese food.

We started with the sizzling razor clams, and honestly, they were the highlight of the meal, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and a great start. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and it really missed the mark. Several ingredients felt poorly prepared. The tendon was so tough it was basically inedible and had to be pushed aside. The pork blood tasted like it had been cooked separately since it had none of the broth flavor soaked into it. Even the beef slices felt out of place, almost like they had been pulled from a pho bowl and dropped into the BBH at the last minute. The broth itself lacked the richness, spice, and strong lemongrass flavor that normally makes Bun Bo Hue stand out. It just tasted flat. There was also a mix-up with our order when the wrong dish came out instead of the lobster. When the lobster finally arrived, it was badly overcooked and much smaller than what was shown on the menu. On top of that, the music was blasting the entire time, no one really checked in to see how things were going, and it took multiple attempts just to get our check. When we mentioned the food issues, the response was basically, "We'll let the chef know." Not exactly the kind of service you hope for after a disappointing meal. Really wanted to like this place, especially after such a strong start with the razor clams, but overall it ended up being a letdown.

Clam chowder was remarkably delicious - I'm from New England so I'm picky about my chowder, especially if it's not "authentic" - but this chowder with the Cajun twist was really something else - a definite must try. Bread pudding (the original with the berry compote) is a must have, so be sure to leave room Also, our server Jenny is a superhero - she was the only one there and held it down all by herself during a busy Friday lunch service; she was genuinely friendly, highly attentive and gave great suggestions on what to order 10 stars.

Of all the Vietnamese sour soups we've had, this place was the best. It is like a savory version of a lemonade, where the sourness and sweetness is extremely intense, but perfectly balanced. I've tasted all sort items from this restaurant, from quail, to frogs, to snails, to cat fish, and everything has been executed to maximize the taste of the ingredient and sauce. Fish dishes would first be soft, flakely, moist, buttery, and then after the textures, you get hit with the intensities of the sauces. In French cuisine, sauce is king, and Vietnamese food is often times a blend of native and French techniques. This place's food quality punches well beyond it's patronage. I'm frankly surprised how empty this place is, and often times, I avoid writing reviews for my FAVORITE places, because after a review from me, the place gets crazy crowded and the prices go up. Unfortunately, this review is written post mortem. I do hope that this place can re-open someday. Until then, this place has set the bar for me, for all Vietnamese restaurants going forward. Will miss this place.

We ordered the clams, baked catfish, lotus root salad and the goat tenderloin. All the food here is absolutely delicious. The baked catfish is tender, buttery and flavorful. The baked catfish came with rice paper and veggies to wrap the fish in. The clams and lotus root salad were well seasoned and tasted fresh. The goat tenderloin was super tender and flavorful. Not too gamey either. Service was excellent. Our servers were extremely attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant but we made a reservation for the catfish to make sure that we had the chance to try it before they sold out. Going to miss this place!

Love this place for my big family of 16 to 20 people…read more My family loves coming here for special occasions such as birthdays and holidays. We're a huge party that takes up 2 large tables. This place does a great job of accommodating our large party. The food is delicious! Lots of options for everyone's preferences. They have super quick and friendly service. These are some of our favorite dishes: Basil clams: fresh clams and fresh fragrant basil make this my mother in laws favorite. Deep fried tofu: such a comforting dish. Crunchy on the outside, silky tofu on the inside, plus a delicious dipping sauce. This is my favorite. Salt and pepper pork: savory and crunchy pork with tons of flavor. My nephews love this and we need to order multiple each time. Steamed chicken: simple but well made. The chicken is tender and incredibly juicy. My husband orders this each time. Fried calamari: crunchy yet very tender squid. The seasoning is peppery. Fried sole fish: super crunchy that we enjoy eating the fins. The inside is tender and juicy. And it has a good dipping sauce too. Lobster on a bed of noodles: great for garlic lovers. Love how fresh the Lobster is and the noodles are so fulfilling. Tip: pay by cash to avoid the credit card fees. Overall the prices are very competitive. It's one of the cheaper seafood restaurants while tasting phenomenal! Always great service, plenty of parking, and no wait.

I've actually been coming here since I was a kid when I used to live in Monterey Park, so this place holds a lot of memories for me. It's one of those restaurants that has stayed consistently good throughout the years. My absolute favorite dish here is the red rice with shaken beef. The sweet and sour sauce they give with it is SO bomb and honestly makes the whole dish even better. I seriously crave it all the time. The house special fish fillet was also amazing, super flavorful and definitely one of my go-to dishes here. Portions are generous, making it perfect for family style dining and celebrations. The atmosphere always feels lively and welcoming, especially for bigger groups. Service was busy but still attentive considering how packed it was. I'm sorry for no pics this time, but they really deserve the recognition they receive. Definitely one of those longtime spots I'll always come back to.

I ordered on my phone and the food came out pretty quick! They also had an appetizer bar which was rly nice. There was a variety of apps such as mapo tofu, seaweed, cripsy chips, and desserts such a fruit and jelly. Idk where they bought their oranges but it was SO SWEET I literally ate all that was left at the bar lol. Skewers Tofu wrapped enoki mushroom 10/10! Super flavorful and delicious. The tofu skin was undercooked like how other skewer places have it. Beef 8/10: typical beef skewers that had good labor too Chicken skin 7/10: not my fave since it was a bit too crispy for me but it may be someone else's cup of tea! Beef tongue 8/10: small amount given but it was the perfect chew. I would def order this again! Fried rice 8.5/10: this rly helped balance all the flavors of the skewers. I was surprised that it wasn't so bland. I would def order this again if I came back for a palate cleanse. Cheese corn 9/10: super creamy, sweet and delicious. Def satisfied my cravings Overall this place may be my new go to skewer place!
