Specialty items and some preorder items, with some not even on the menu were outrageously priced. Some per person, some per pound, and some by size. Fresh water shrimp were bland - expensive. Not worth it. Steamed fish amazing, but very expensive. Squab yummy, but overpriced. Not much meat on the bones. Everything else we ordered was delicious and amazing and you need to bring a big party with you so that you can share more items because the dishes are big. Service was amazing! Truly. This restaurant is at the hotel lobby where Chef Tony's used to be. I miss that place. I'd go back again, but I would totally skip special order items and stick to the menu. Service alone would bring me back. Really outstanding! Prices - huge disappointment. Again, bring a lot of people with you or you will miss out. They validate parking.

Pretty large restaurant. We came early so was seated quickly. The servers were nice but it was hard to get their attention at times. The food overall not bad but not amazing. I got the liu sa bao (bun with salted egg yolk) and one was filled but the other was not. Same idea for the soup dumplings. The food did come quickly though once we ordered. I would come again! But not all the time.

Located in the Marriott hotel, they validate parking underground. There was no wait for a table for 5. We got their puer chrysantheum tea which was surprisingly good. Spacious seating with modern decor. We ordered some dim sum and regular dishes, including the chicken feet, beef rice roll, sautéed string beans, walnut shrimp, and siu mai. Everything was delicious except the beef rice roll. It's supposed to have minced beef inside it but it was just this dark brown flat filling that did not taste like meat at all. I don't recommend that dish.

Overall, tasty and fresh hot dishes. This spot is a classy, elegant, dim sum and dinner table cloth type. Went for dinner, so no dim sum. The chow mein noodles were huge portion, well seasoned, and piping hot. Very delicious. The sauted fish and bell pepper dish had excellent sweet savory flavor. I would give it a 5 star, but the service was very lacking for a higher end restaurant. We got the service of a small hole in the wall wonton noodle shop.

Consistently great food and service. I went there for dinner and the food was so delicious. They gave complimentary dessert shaped like bunnies in light of Easter. One of their specials is BOGO for free duck. I highly recommend it especially for large families

The Crystal Palace is located at the Marriot in Monterey Park. They have the best food. We have gone twice now. Once for just Dim Sum and once for dinner. There is nothing not to like about this place. It is ever so clean and it is very comfortable. The last time we went it was so cold outside but the eatery was nice and warm, but not hot. There is great seating and when we were there it was not crowded. We did not have a reservation, but I think you can make one and I would if allowed. The place is really pretty and set up to seat a lot of people. The service was exceptional. They were all so nice and I did have questions about some of the Dim Sum. They know everything. Their dinner fish dishes are great and we love their rice. We loved the beef tripe and all of their shrimp dishes are great. Have fun.

It's been our Christmas morning tradition since the kids were little to go get dim sum. This year we decided to try some place new and found Crystal Palace. It is in the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the space that had been held by several unsuccessful restaurants in the past; most recently Chef Tony. Hopefully, this time it would last a while since Crystal Palace turned out to be one of the best dim sum places we've tried in a while. It is also one of the very few dim sum spots that accepts reservations. Unlike the typical canto abruptness attitudes, the service was also friendly and polite. Those who like truffles would love this place for truffle flavor is in many of the dishes. The obligatory hargow and shumai were very legit. The chashiu pineapple bun had the perfectly crunchy outside layer. Basically everything met or exceeded our expectations. The only thing I felt they could improve upon was there were many food delivery people but few waiters who we could flag down for services.

Overall: Relaxing, family-friendly, solid food, but expensive for dim sum Food: We came with 4 adults and 2 toddlers and ordered many dishes. Flavors were solid, portions generous, and we enjoyed them sufficiently. I would say the beef chow fun could have had more flavor though. Service: Staff were friendly, attentive, and kept a relaxed pace. Atmosphere & logistics: Good spacing between tables; comfortable for a party with toddlers. It's inside the Courtyard Marriott so it is very clean and well-maintained. Bottom line & tip: Would return for a calm, family-friendly meal

Came here for a banquet and the food was delicious. The portion size is smaller than other places. But the ambience is very nice. The restaurant on the first floor, inside the newly built Monterey Park Courtyard Hotel. Service is what you would expect at a restaurant inside a hotel setting. Parking is underground.

Dim sums menu are very attractive and various items for customers that love different kind of Dim Sums choices!! I love the most flavor item - Pan Fried Radish Cake!! Marinated n Pan Fried right on!! This restaurant is located in the Courtyard Marriott in the lobby behind the Starbucks on Atlantic & Hellman. Across the street from Atlantic Time Square. There's 3 hours surface parking available. Or if you opt to park in the garage, they will validate. I found parking outside so no validation needed. This place doesn't require a reservation, but it's not that big, so I would highly encourage reservations on the weekends for sure. Also, I noticed tour companies like to use this hotel to house their guests, so you might have to deal with that crowd if you did not make any reservations. The interior is nicely decorated and clean. You order off of a menu and they bring the food out to you. It's not the traditional push cart like a lot of the Dim Sum restaurants are in the area. The prices here are higher than the other restaurants. It's also nice that most of the employees here speak English well so that helps a lot. As far as the food is concern, this is where the 3 Stars apply. The food here is on the bland side and lack the flavor punch like their competition across the street at Atlantic Seafood & Dim Sum to name a few. The Seafood Chow Mein was nice and crispy, but lack that Wok Hey that I look forward to when ordering this dish. Again, it wasn't seasoned well enough. The gravy was bland also. The har gow tasted like it was on the steamer a little too long. They charge $2.18 for tea per person. So make sure you drink up. Though this restaurant is on the smaller side, they are definitely short staffed. It was hard to flag someone down for soy sauce as they were just moving so fast and doing multiple things. I would think twice about coming back here when there's so many better ones within 5-10 minutes away. Good thing is parking was big and the spaces are wide here. Plus parking is not an issue vs. the plaza across the street.

Met a friend who loves this place for lunch. Free self parking on the South side of the Courtyard. She ordered and chose wisely. Better quality than our normal Atlantic Seafood dim sum. A little pricier tho, but really tasty. Service was good too.

Ambiance: the Crystal Palace has replaced the former Chef Tony, likely still under the same ownership, majority items on their menu stay the same, the parking is validated for three hours at the Marriott lot behind the establishment Service: very slow, it took a long while to place the order and receive the food, and hard to get their attentions to refill water Food & Drink: classic dim sum and Cantonese food items Har Gow - ** the dumpling wrap is way too thick Siu Mai with Scallops - **** tasty with scallop, shrimp, and fish eggs, recommend Steamed Chicken Feet with Brown Sauce - *** average Stew Beef Tendon - **** chewy and flavorful, recommend Steamed Shrimp Dumpling with Chives - *** taste was fine, thick skin Rice Noodle Roll with BBQ Pork - *** average taste Pork with Preserved Egg Congee - **** smooth texture, recommend pu-erh tea - *** average oolong tea - **** recommend Price: moderate portions, slightly overpriced for similar items in the area, expect $30+ per person

Seafood here is a great option, portions are huge for most dishes, making it perfect to share. My favorite among the dishes is certainly the Walnut Shrimp. It's a classic amongst plenty of Chinese restaurants and Lunasia is up there when it comes to quality. Overall, a decent experience, been here plenty of times for dimsum and it's always quick and quality food. Dinner was decent but nothing too over the top. It was great to go with friends who speak Cantonese because mine is so rusty, I can only understand but not speak these days. I was so hungry I didn't even let my phone eat 1st like the yelped I am, but only remembered to take a photo after we had eaten at least half our plates! Having grown up with NYC and SF dim sum, NBC is one of the few Los Angeles area places that has the selection and flavors of my childhood. Some favorites were the har gow, taro puffs, and tripe. We got the roast duck but it wasn't very meaty or flavorful. We got the congee which was ok, but lacked any definite personality. The chewy fried dumplings were more dough than filling. The siu mai and veggie dumplings were both solid. I didn't try the bitter melon or turnip cakes because I don't like the taste of either, but I was happy to see them available. We got a claypot rice dish with spare ribs and Chinese sausage which was good but the rice was not crispy on the bottom. I saw they had chicken feet, which I usually love but they didn't look appetizing enough to order. Would definitely go back for other dishes and with more people so we could sample more selections.

We got bbq pork buns, steamed and baked, shrimp dumplings, sui mai, fried taro, shrimp roll, congee, and sesame balls. All were really good. If I want to get nit picky, the shrimp dumplings could have had more flavor and the fried taro could have been crispier. As for the positives, the congee was very flavorful and comforting. The sesame balls had a nice bite and it was full of sesame paste. The sui mai was very meaty. And the rice wrapper on the shrimp rolls were silky and the sauce was full of umami flavor. I enjoyed my experience here as everyone was really nice and took care of my family. We got here right when they opened so the restaurant was calm. More people came when we left so it naturally got noisier. Since it was a party of 3 and a baby for me, we were seated at a four-person table. But they really try to pack people in so I imagine it can get pretty tight. So if you and your party can wake up early enough to get there right when they open, then do so to have an easier experience with parking, getting a table, and getting food. I imagine that as more people come in, it'll be harder to flag down carts.

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

They have a QR code to scan the menu and send your order to the kitchen. Unfortunately, they forgot our order of shumai. We had already finished eating before it even came. The waitress was kind but apparently had to bring the receipt back because the staff was claiming we already received it.

Everything is ordered by piece, so you can mix and match exactly what you want by filling out the form. Came by on a Saturday craving a few things and ordered siu mai, har gow, BBQ pork buns, ham sui gok, and sesame balls. Once you place your order, everything comes out pretty fast. Overall the items are decent and definitely hit the craving. The BBQ pork bun was a little dry for me, but I liked the sesame balls and ham sui gok, nice and crispy on the outside with a chewy texture. Solid spot if you're in a rush or just want a quick dim sum fix.

I have been going to this place to satisfy my dim sum cravings ever since it used to be "Fong's Dim…read moreSum" back in the 1980's. Yes, that's how long this place has survived & for good reason. They were the first to serve fresh & tasty dim sum to-go for a reasonable price at good value due to their big portion sizes. However, my son & I, went there recently & ordered the usual Siu Mai, Baked BBQ Bun & Steamed BBQ bun. We usually call in our orders in advance to avoid the long wait outside but this time things seem off. Firstly, the lady cannot understand our order & we were put on hold while there seem to be a banter between her & a gentlemen inside for sometime. Secondly, when we finally got there & picked up the order, one of the items given was wrong. Instead of Char Siu Bao, we had Har Gow. So, we waited for another 15 minutes more to get the correct item. When we got home & opened the bags, the Siu Mai had gotten smaller & the worst part is that one of the Baked BBQ Bun had a cockroach pressed on the outside layer of the bun (see picture). I tried to contact the owner first to let them know so it can be corrected before posting it here but no one called. I know that this can affect their "safety food rating" & thus their sales. But if there was indeed a change in management or ownership, they need to fix the sizing portion & bug problem so they could live up to the history & expectations of their loyal clientele.
