I'm not sure what the negativity is all about. i have always had a good experience with Jay, Bob and the Olympic team. Several years ago they designed and installed a pool " complex" turning my yard into a resort. First class products, workmanship and subcontractors. Since that time they have always been helpful whenever I have a question or issue.( which is not often....the pool and equipment have functioned as advertised. Echoing some other reviews...Olympic Pool & Spa is run by some of the most disrespectful, unprofessional rude people in the business and that is saying a lot for pool construction folks. They kick their muddy boots off all over the foundation of your home, all of your driveway, and leave their trash (bottles, wrappers, food, etc) all over your yard for you to clean up. When you question them about it, they get defensive and nasty because obviously they could do no wrong. Zero accountability or responsibility. A few years back I had them close my pool. They must have left water in the filter tank because it slowly dripped out of the un-tightened drain cap at the bottom. Something must have been rusting inside because it was all rust water that permanently stained my filter pad. The following season, I opened the pool and the water was black, the worst it had ever been. Im nearly positive this cheap company did not use any or enough chemicals to properly close a pool. Since that experience, I've closed my own pool and opened to near crystal clear water. These guys really do skimp on material and labor. read more

We had them install a pool several years back and they did a horrible job. They installed a cheaper chlorine generator that we paid for (they switched to the better one after we complained), demanded more money once they dug the hole (giving the the choice of either paying or having a hole in our backyard), stiffed the electrician (whose work was included in the pool price), refused to re-route drainpipes (that the estimator said would be done for free) and made all kinds of other mistakes. I would recommend to not use these guys, or at least get everything in detailed writing. They lie like crazy. This company is less than one star. We purchased an above ground with no support on how to manage or maintain the pool. We were told " it's easy". Yes , it's easy for them to tell you that . It's so, you don't maintain it correctly, then problems begin and they make a fortune on supplies to correct the issues. In addition, I told the owner several times about having the pool bonded . When pool was installed , the bonding kit( which is separate) was not included. Once I pressed the issue and purchased the bonding kit , my electrician had to install it to complete the bonding. My electrician was not happy that the kit had not been installed on pool. I could go on and on, but you get the point. My impression of them is, just to sell you the pool, make the money and leave you to fend for yourself! Not a good way to run a business! Horrible place to purchase a pool. read more

After weeks of telling us they would be coming the following week, dragging this out for 8 weeks Olympic Pools abandoned the rest of our job. Now we need to shell out an additional 13k to have a drainage pit dug and 6 loads of dirt to be removed form our yard. Worse experience ever. They are just looking to start pools so they get the first two payments. They don't finish pools. read more

FYI to update this review. Wound up suing them and settling out of court. Took over a year for US to get a full refund on our patio. The only reason they paid US for their terrible work was because they knew they would loose in court. Calls and requests went totally unanswered until 3 weeks before the trial date when they had no choice. Hope you find this helpful. read more

Happy with our pool completion in Chester,NJ after a few months, obtaining permits for our renovations, dealing with the rainy season last summer we finally finished our pool in the fall. Jay the builder was helpful with the process and kept us up to date regularly from start to finish. My fiancée is just as pleased as I am with the professionalism and attention to detail. Job well done, so nice, and relieved with the decision in using Flanders store. Professionals in their field and they know their craft. Our experience with Olympic has been first rate since we walked in the door of their showroom back in 2008. We were met by the owners of the company (Bob and Jason, father and son). They were polite and friendly from minute 1. We were going to be putting in a liner pool and they were the only company we discussed that was willing (and able!) to accommodate a custom shape. They priced high-quality equipment into their standard package and their pricing was excellent. Their installation was flawless, on-time and on on-budget. Most people i know end up not using the contractor who built the pool to service the pool. This is not the case. We have continued to work with them for opening, closing and service to this date. They continue to employee the same team as they did when we built the pool. Continuity is important. The owners of the Company STILL 10 years later return my calls and continue to treat me as well as they did when they were selling me the pool. In short, our experience with Olympic has been outstanding from day 1 and continues to be so today. i would recommend anyone looking to build a pool to talk to Bob and Jay. I live in Wayne, NJ and we had our entire backyard done by Olympic Pools. We had a kidney shaped pool, jacuzzi and complete backyard construction done. We couldn't be any happier with the service from showroom to construction. We had an issue with the permits and the on-site Olympic Pools supervisor ironed out all permit issues promptly. I would refer Olympic Pools to anyone and everyone. We used the Flanders location and it was a seamless experience. read more

Olympic Pool & Spa in Flanders is outstanding. Bob and Jay' s team built my pool five years ago and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the materials and workmanship and the ongoing service. Bob designed the entire project transforming my ordinary backyard into a "destination". Olympic just doesn't dig a hole and throw in a pool. They are committed to building a product that ,not only the owner can be proud of, but they have pride in their project also. Jay and Bob were constantly on site doing the work and monitoring the team . The entire project was completed as scheduled and all promises were kept. Over the past five years we have established a great relationship and I use Olympic for all of my service needs which, by the way , basically consist of opening and closing the pool each season . The pool itself is relatively maintance free .All we do is enjoy it. I am pleased to recommend the top pool company in the State. Customer service is non-existent. I went in with my wife shopping for a hot tub and we were not greeted on the way in or the way out, even though there were three employees just standing by the front door talking the entire time. We walked around for nearly 1/2 hour without being asked once if we needed help. There was only one other customer in the store so it's not like they could use being busy as an excuse. You'd think a place that sells such big-ticket merchandise would give a damn about customer service and making a sale. We went to Pelican later that day and bought a hot tub there. read more

On line ad is erroneous -advertised 3 Spas i.e. Hot Spring, Garden Leisure and Saratoga. Drove over an hour and was told that they no longer carry or deal with Saratoga which is what we were interested in, and shown nothing but Hot Spring. read more

Beautiful showroom, BUT, absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced, from ANY company. Luckily, we didn't have them install our in-ground pool, but we were desperate for a new filter-after ours sprang a leak-and I called them in desperation because their location is just down the street from our home. We were without our pool for WEEKS because not only did they order the wrong size filter, but the wrong size piping as well. They also lied to me when I called, expecting filter installation on a day when my husband and I both planned to stay home in preparation for their arrival. When they were 4 hours late, I called and was rudely informed that "you're not the only one who needs service, you are definitely on the list. You have to be patient". 2 hours later my husband called and they confessed that their lone repairman had called in sick that morning and not done any repairs at all that day. They were not even planning on letting us know that they were not going to come that day. VERRRRRY unprofessional. They also bad-mouthed the company we had used to install our pool in the first place. Their water-testing is also ridiculous, They use dip strips similar to the ones we have ourselves and do not do a proper analysis. Do NOT patronize this company. Pay a little more and get courteous and prompt service from someone else. read more

I wish I could give this company less than a one! You should not use this company and should avoid their products. Period. The owner and the people that work there will lie and mock you for things that are simply not true. They will try to rip you off with ridiculous seemingly made up prices. My grandmother had dropped off a pump there to be fixed and after getting it back she was called hours later and told not to touch it because there was an important part missing. When the part was retrieved a different day she was then left wondering when the pump would be installed. Bob, the owner of the company said how easy it was to install and uninstall the pump, which was a bold faced lie. After being mocked for receiving my masters but not being able To suddenly understand electricity we had to hire someone else to come take the pump apart! I have been going to the FLANDERS NJ store for the past 2 years for my supplies and I trusted these people. Big Mistake!!! I kid you not. They offer "pool opening". What that entails is $40.00 of chemicals and $210.00 for them to pour it in. They never told me that. I thought they were going to vacuum it out as well for that price so sounded like a good deal. I would never have paid that much money for just some chemicals and 2 guys to come out and pour it in. My cover was already off, we had the pump already running. So they literally just poured in the $40.00 worth of chemicals and put the ladder in. We could have done that ourselves. When I called the owner. He was rude and defensive. He was mad I even questioned it. No business etiquette. Something tells me I'm not the only one he's screwed over. In my opinion, these people are shady and purposely make it sound like they are doing a big job for you when in fact they know what they are doing isn't worth half of what they charge. I will never use these people again. I advise that if you ever see an ad that sounds too good, stay away. It's a ploy to reel you in and steal your hard earned money. Do it yourself for $40 bucks. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews of Olympic Pool and Spa before purchasing a hot tub from them. While the tub itself is fine, they are horrible when it comes to customer service. Getting a straight, honest answer from them is impossible. Having them do what they say they will is like pulling teeth from an angry, unsedated rhino. Nothing but lies and run-around from them at every turn. We ordered the spa from them because they told us it would be delivered to us in 2 to 3 weeks. In reality it took about 9 weeks. We kept calling and they would tell us it was an "accounting" issue. To me, accounting has nothing to do with the manufacturing of a spa or the delivery of a spa. To me, what that says is that Olympic owed the manufacturer money and the manufacturer wasn't going to ship any more spas until they were paid. Of course, I have no way to know if this is what was really going on but it is what I think was happening. Customers, including me, just got caught in the middle. The salesman and the owner of Olympic just played "volleyball" with us for the entire 2 months. We'd call and talk to the salesman and he'd refer us to the owner because he said he had no authority. We'd get the owner on the phone and he'd just switch us back to the salesman, many times without even saying a word after hearing the issue. We tried to cancel and get our money back but got the "volleyball" game with that, too. When the spa finally did come in, we had to wait some more because their delivery guy was on vacation. Finally the spa was delivered and we had to wait another 3 to 4 weeks for someone to show up to install the lifter for the cover. That guy turned out to be a disaster because it was like he had never installed a lifter before. He drilled about 8-10 holes incorrectly and then ended up turning the cover around so that the back is now in the front, and the front in the back, and there are unused drill holes all over the sides of the cover. Do yourself a favor and do NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER do business with these people. There are plenty of other spa vendors and pool builders in the area. Run far and fast from these people. read more

Just moved into a house with a 8 year old pool. Wanted to have it opened for the season and stumbled across this store while in the Flanders area. They quoted me 375.- and took my credit card number. Someone came out to the house a few days later while I was at work and conducted the pool "opening". This is where it becomes interesting: The person that opened the pool, took the cover off and while doing so, dumped all the leaves that were on the cover into the pool (later we fished out two wheelbarrows of leaves). He told my wife that they "have to do this". He then poured a bucked of what may have been chemicals into the pool, turned on the pump and left. When I returned home about 3 hours later, I found the pump steaming and hot, the electrical control panel sizzling, and the water in the filter basket almost boiling. The guy forgot to check the valves, which were still in winterizing position, and therefore caused the pump to overheat, break some unions, fry the pump seals, and kill the control panel. They guy didn't even check whether the grids were in the filter system. Obviously they were not since, as we later found out, the company that winterized the pool took them out for proper storage. After speaking with employees from Olympic pool, among them a sarcastic, yet unfortunately not very witty woman with British accent, I got through to Bob who, for reasons that are a mystery to me, seems to run the place. He started off being extremely defensive stating that we have a very old pool and that "the pool is a mess" (sure, after they dumped in buckets of leaves it became a bit "leafy"). He predicted that the water is probably black (it actually had a leafy, yet turquoise color to it) and that we did not take care of it properly. He told me that the pool company that winterized the pool were "idiots" for moving the check valves into the winterization position and that only "idiots" would take out the grids from the filter to store them in a dry place over the winter. I told him that this was also always done for my previous pool, to which he yelled that I am "full of crap". At this point his voice was almost screaming while he was asking me "how the hell" his people should know that the check valves were in the winterization position. I explained, while he took a breath in order to recover from yelling, that the valves have large arrows on top that indicate direction of flow. After a few more minutes of yelling he offered to refund "some" money asking "well do you want my people to work for free? Do you?" and then hung up on me. Needless to say, we chose a different company to repair the damage and to open the pool for the season. read more
