Friday before a holiday weekend and my furnace is blowing cold air. :( I call about 15 places and couldn't find anyone to help me the same day. It's not fun dropping over four grand (in our case) for a furnace but if you must, you want to make sure you are getting a good clean install from a knowledgable serviceman. Long overdue review. Above and beyond service! Our furnace had issues winter of 2018 and our house was terribly cold for our toddlers. I chose Olympic Heating based on Checkbook.org scoring, comments, online reviews (Yelp), the BBB's site, and final double-check with the State's contractor licensing site. On the phone, Randall was pleasant, knowledgable, and promised to come within a few hours (after completing another job), which he did. He quickly identified the problem, a dead ignitor, and quickly replaced it with the exact part. He also performed a little, quick furnace clean-up and provided some helpful information. Pricing was quoted up front. Flat fee + parts. No extra diagnostic/inspection charges, trip charges, etc. Based on my quick research, I believe the cost was competitive; perhaps on the lower end. Really great service in the 20 years we've been going to them with our furnace needs. Their business address lists Edmonds but if you live in N Seattle they're within easy reach. In our most recent experience with them, our furnace was acting up & they returned my call immediately, did the research and confirmed it was still under warranty, they ordered a new part, zoomed out to our house, and installed it. Although I ultimately chose a different furnace brand and installer, I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. They arrived promptly and were very thorough and talked me through the options. Did I want a 80% AFUE or 95% AFUE? What were the pros and cons of each. 5 stars are not enough! Sean responded to my voicemail almost immediately. I was lucky because he had a hole in his schedule that day and was able to come to my house about an hour later. I'd let him know that I thought the issue was the condenser pump for my furnace. We discussed the symptoms and possible causes. He was friendly, and a great communicator on the phone. He arrived on time and got right to work, explaining the troubleshooting he was doing and how the system worked. I expected he'd want to be left alone to work, but instead, as he worked he provided really interesting information on how the furnace functions and what to look for in order to catch any malfunctions quickly, should they occur. His decades of experience made it easy for him to diagnose and fix the problem. He had brought a replacement pump with him, so when he determined that the pump was the cause, he was able to swap it out immediately. He performed a complete inspection and cleaning, as well. Plus, he had a pleasant and professional demeanor, and provided me an education on my heating system. All this for not that much more than other companies were going to charge for just the cleaning and inspection: $308 for all parts and labor, including tax. I will definitely be contacting Olympic Heating for any help I need with my furnace. Fast, pleasant, experienced, super knowledgeable, quality work, and a reasonable price. This will be our heating company from here on out. Called them this morning after coming home from vacation and finding our furnace not working. They were at our home with in three hours. Two brothers came (their dad owns the business). Spent time checking our 25+ year old furnace and found it just needed cleaning and a change of wiring on the nest thermostat. They totally could have sold me a brand new furnace (I have no idea about these things). Instead they taught me how to clean the filters and had it all up and running again for $150. Amazing. I woke up one recent morning to a very cold house. My furnace had stopped working overnight. I called a few furnace repair places and Olympic was the first to get me scheduled. They were sending a repairman out by 10 that same day! When Sean arrived, he was friendly and got right to work diagnosing the issue. He had the problem fixed within an hour but said that my heat exchangers were rattling around and that they were missing a brace of some sort. He asked if it was OK if he looked into this issue more. He found that there was no damage to the exchangers and then he MacGyvered a brace from some metal in his truck! When all was said and done, my furnace works great and is in much better condition than when Sean arrived and all for an extremely reasonable fee. I highly recommend Olympic! read more

Affordable, prompt, professional. My furnace goes out. I try to find a yelped service provider that's nearby, but alas...they've either been critiqued in a way that makes me want to keep looking, or they're in the oil furnace only biz. So, I go out on a limb. I grew up in Lake City, so I remember seeing these guy's trucks around. I give em a call. Their tech is here within two hours (OK, so they must have been slow by Friday morning). He's clean, fast, proficient. He doesn't up sell me and actually talks me out of a new pilot that I thought I needed. Instead he swaps out one of the burner pans for a used one (in better shape than mine) on his truck. That and a general clean and service and my furnace has been running like a champ! They quoted me $95 over the phone for just showing up. He spent over an hour, swapped out that part, re-secured loose parts on my antique furnace, CO tested the exhaust, and only billed me 135 out the door. Thanks guys! We hired Olympic to transition an old oil furnace to gas, and we were extremely pleased with the entire process, including the pricing. The bid was actually considerably lower than other companies, perhaps because it's a smaller shop. As a woman, I also appreciated that Randall and family always speak to me respectfully, and never talk down to me (sorry I have to write this, but too many exceptions to this situation in the gas furnace industry. They'll talk to my husband like an adult, but not me). In the meantime, Randall has been very direct and helpful regarding questions regarding a water heater. Ten years ago during a cold snap our furnace began short cycling. I called Olympic heating and Randall came out, zeroed-in on the problem (faulty pilot burner), and had it fixed in no time. I don't remember what the bill was, just that it was extremely reasonable, especially for a mid-winter situation that was borderline urgent. It certainly would have been well within his rights to charge an emergency fee of some sort, but no way, no how. Needless to say, I was impressed (and thankful for the good turn). Fast forward ten years. Time for a new furnace (it was 30 years old). Dropped by Olympic (they're now in Edmonds) and asked Randall for a bid. He came out and drew up a plan for a no-corners-cut job that couldn't be beat. Truth be told, I didn't even consider looking for another bid. Bryant is a great furnace, but no matter the brand, if you don't have the right installer things are going to go sideways down the line. In summary, these guys are great. He was very nice, the part was on the truck and he did the work quickly. He explained the situation and options simply and the prices were reasonable. Very happy with Randall and Olympic Heating. We've been having issues with our 11 year old Bryant furnace for about a year. Must admit we neglected the yearly service calls. I tried calling another business in north Seattle but my calls were never returned. Found Olympic Heating on Yelp and got a callback within a few hours. Randall offered to come over within 48 hours. He arrived right on time and spent about an hour deep cleaning the furnace and troubleshooting an issue with the thermostat. I contacted them because they installed my air conditioning about 5 years ago and when I asked if they could disconnect the AC so I could pour new pad , that the one they installed was settling and water getting behind it ...They just said. Our 8 yr old furnace was acting up. The fan blew warm air sometimes, other times it was just cold air. We reset it several times over a few days and finally called Olympic. We liked the idea of a family owned business since 1926 (3 generations). Sean and Patrick were here within an hour. These polite, clean cut, helpful men replaced a $36 pressure switch, cleaned & serviced our furnace and were out the door in 90 minutes. I wish there was some way I could give Randall and Olympic Heating a hundred stars. Our furnace went out during the night of December 22nd and by morning it was very chilly in our house. The company we last used to service the furnace came out and verified the blower fan was shot. They could order a new fan and install it the end of the following week (10 days later!) I called around and got similar answers from other companies. We take care of our grandchildren (4 and 1 year old) and the outdoor temp was 28 so we felt we could not go 10 days without heat. I finally called Olympic and spoke with Randall. He stated if he could find a fan he would personally install it today or tomorrow. He did find a fan - only one available as it it turned out - and several hours later we had our furnace back in operation! Randall went beyond any reasonable expectations for service and we are extremely grateful! read more

This company installed my furnace with the prior owner. Fast forward 11 years, I started hearing a whine from the heater. I wanted a company authorized by the manufacturer to fix it (too many of these heating repair companies like Blue Flame seem always too quick on the upsell and short on the reasons ). After finding the records of the install, I called Olympic Heating. It is a family business, and they are very good and very honest. They knew the issue from my description. They quoted a price to replace the failing unit and cleaned it at the same time. The job was done on time and at the estimate. Spent an hour or two down in the crawlspace fixing things up, replacing broken parts, etc. Spent the time to make sure job was done right, and didn't charge an arm and a leg for it. We were getting our townhome ready to sell, and when the stagers came in, they smelled gas! We had a slow gas leak in the valve that connected the water heater to the radiant heat pipes in the walls - so the gas was shut off. Olympic came out and had to work hard to get the valve out. They discovered it was a specialty valve and had to go with a supplier they do not generally use. They kept us informed about the status and really worked to get the part expedited. As soon as it came in, they brought it to us and had to work hard to get it into place. It was a difficult installation because of how the water heater is placed and the metal casing around the valve and pipes. They installed it and did not give up, even though this was a tough job. They came through with flying colors and did not charge me extra for all of the headaches they took on. They are simply the BEST in customer service, kindness and patience. I will never even consider calling anyone else for this type of work. read more

My best friend recommended these guys to me after she used them for years. I bought a house with an ancient gas furnace. Of course it went out the day my roommate moved in when I was in Tacoma all day. They made time to get there that day. They fixed the ancient furnace. They also told me that while it worked, if anything on it broke irreparably, I would need to replace the whole furnace. I was remodeling the basement and as I had built new walls around the old unit, I emailed pictures to them before hand and asked advise on wall placement, safety, etc. They always replied promptly and knowledgeably. So, a year later, when I had the funds, I called them back and had them replace the whole furnace. When I was ripping out old phone wires from the basement, and I clipped the thermostat wire accidentally, they were there the next day to fix it. I can't recommend these guys enough. read more
